Good food! Been here twice. First time I kept it simple and just ordered a cheeseburger combo. The order was correct and delicious. Today I decided to mix things up... I've been coming to Troys for years and used to love the breakfast burritos. Unfortunately the quality and service has taken a downward turn. I called ahead and ordered 3 breakfast burritos, 2 specifically with well done bacon because I'm pregnant. Bit into my burrito and the bacon was nearly raw and my husbands order was wrong. Not sure what the point of ordering over the phone is because you still have to wait in a long line with everyone else to finally get to the "order" window to tell them you had a phone order. It's been a while since I've visited Troy's. Years ago, I lived down the street so when I found myself in my old neighborhood, I just had to stop for lunch. Seemingly, everything looked the same...it even smelled the same! I ordered a Gyro no onions & zucchini. The zucchini's were just as good as I remembered. Annnd that was the highlight of my meal! My friend ordered a Grilled Ham & Cheese and fries. The fries were very obviously not fresh; they were hard and barely warm to the touch. The Ham & Cheese (although I didn't try myself) looked ok but according to my buddy was "over killed"-stacked with more lettuce than meat or cheese, a few tomatoes and layered with an inch of mayo. My Gyro came completely plain with a 1/2 raw onion stuffed between the meat & pita bread. I took it back to the window only to deal with a very annoyed cashier. She was super rude, answering any question I asked with a snotty "WHAT?!" or a quick, attitude coated one line retort...one that matched the sour look of exasperation & unhelpful-ness she wore on her face. I finally got my sandwich, which to my surprise, was even made fresh. Sadly, the steamy hot freshness of a new sammich couldn't even save the meal at this point. The meat was over cooked and extremely salty & the cucumber sauce was super bland. Lucky for me I was half full from shoveling zucchini & cold french fries down my hole, I didn't get through the whole thing before tapping out. As excited as I was to eat at Troy's again, I think it's going to be another few years before I visit again. PS. I will give Troy's this much. Meh. Nothing memorable. The homemade ranch was the best thing in the bag. Got a cheeseburger, patty melt,fries, fried mushrooms, and fried zucchini. The fried zucchini needed a lighter batter and more zucchini. The fried mushrooms could use some salt in the batter or something, the batter was flavorless. The cheeseburger had entirely too much thousand island and turned me into a 90's Carl's Jr. commercial, but without the deliciousness. What a mess!! It was a big burger, but that's meaningless when the burger isn't that tasty. I ate half and threw the other half away. The patty melt was for my man and he didn't think it was anything more than "okay". They served the patty melt on wheat bread-not a patty melt. It should be served on sourdough bread. I love this place! Only been here a few times, but I love the breakfast burritos! Although sometimes they put too much hashbrowns, or too much eggs and too little meat it's still very delicious. It's pretty cheap for such a big burrito. I ate only half and I was satisfied. (I can finish the whole thing just need to watch my weight ;]). Try to call ahead because they normally have a long line for breakfast burritos on the weekend. I ordered the bacon breakfast burrito and added sausage. They forgot the sausage. Our family has been coming here for a year now and no disappointments until now(other than the service being bad consistently, rude). The Burrito shrunk and I pay good money for my add ons to my breakfast burrito. We drive all the way fron Whittier to come here and not happy about this cut back on fatter burrito. I came here for a breakfast burrito to see what all the hype was about and I was very disappointed. I ordered a chorizo breakfast burrito and it was not horrible but it was far from good. There was very little meat wrapped within the layer of tortilla and the burrito was filled with too much potatoes (hash browns). The salsa was not good or spicy. The customer service was not great, but I feel like they may be understaffed. I do prefer a mexican style breakfast burrito over american style, so I am biased in that regard. If you are looking for a good chorizo burrito, there are so many other spots in OC that blow this one out of the water. read more

I can't believe how popular this place is. On a Saturday morning I drove over to have a breakfast burrito only to witness person after person arrive and order the same thing I was there for. I started to think, "their burrito must be really good." As I took the first bite, nothing really wowed me about how it tasted. Sure, it's filled with a bunch of stuff but there's nothing truly special about it. Unless you eat it with one of their salsa's (a mild tomatillo or a hot red chile arbol) nothing about the burrito makes it stand out. Quite frankly, it tastes just like any other breakfast burrito you can order from local chains like Farmer Boys or John's. Keep in mind, I'm only commenting on the breakfast burrito. This is our go to place when we need a yummy breakfast burrito or good burger close to home. The onion rings are yumm and addictive. You can call in your order ahead of time, which I recommend you do because they get pretty busy. Picked up Dinner last night and had a steak sandwich, taquitos and onions rings. The onion rings never disappoint, but the other was just ok. The cashier was also a little blah, like she had a long day and didn't want to be at work. Today I decided to stop by and try the "best breakfast burritos" they proudly boast on their roadside sign. I ordered mine with bacon, and it cost me a whopping $5!!! The first thought that ran through my mind upon paying was "this had better be a really good and really big burrito!" I sat down with my number slip in my hand and waited...after about 3 minutes or so, I headed home, burrito in-hand. It was pretty big..nowhere near as massive as Pepe's, but it was more than I can eat in one sitting. After the first bite, I realized that the burrito was made kind of strangely...there's a layer of tortilla, which is wrapped around a thin "tortilla" of egg (like a really thin omelet, almost) and all that surrounds the hashbrowns and bacon. It was a really good burrito, about as good as Subs n More, but not nearly as amazing as Pepe's!! Either way, I was not disappointed and I still have half of it waiting for me in the refrigerator, so for good food and quick service, I give 4 stars...I'd give more if the prices were just a bit lower. :) read more

boyfriend brought home breakfast burritos earlier today. after seeing reviews that claim they have the best around, i don't agree. pros: lots of bacon...i mean lots. and its whole strips, not cut up pieces. it was huge, i was barely able to eat half of it cons: he ordered 2 bacon & 1 chorizo burrito to go. got home & his was marked chorizo but it was bacon. so all 3 were bacon they didn't give us any salsa at all even tho he asked for salsa. thank god i always have salsa in my fridge and where's the cheese?! nine detectible in my burrito. the cons def outweighed the pros in this case. screwing up the order and not giving us salsa was totally no bueno. read more
