Cafe Vida is a gorgeous little fast casual restaurant inside the Bay Club (and no, you do not need to be a member to eat there. Expansive menu of salads, sandwiches and plates, many with a Mexican influence. Their tacos are very tasty and elevated- gorgeous even in their little takeout box. The taco special today was a choice or trio of spicy chicken tinga , beef barbacoa, and a spicy kale mushroom. It came with tortilla chips, guacamole and salsa. There's a lot to like here, and a lot to question. Right upfront, the service people are fantastic--always helpful and smiling. The atmosphere is sort of upscale cafeteria, and it's definitely great to sit on the patio on warm day. And many of the food items are very tasty, especially the breakfast/brunch items. The place they falter is a desire to add creative ingredients to places they don't need to be. The turkey burger is good, but has rosemary in it--not sure it's a great flavor profile. The tuna salad has another herb (tarragon?) that throws the flavor off. The chicken salad sandwich has picked carrots and jalapeños, which would be fine on the side, but annoying inside the sandwich. The grilled chicken they use on salads is covered in bland red sauce, makes salads unappealing. And the biggest creative debacle: The so-called caesar salad has spinach, carrots, corn, tomatoes, pumpkin seeds, and avocado, all in a balsamic vinaigrette. It was a bit confusing to find on the map, especially if you're not familiar with the gym. Arriving here, it was pretty busy, but thankfully, there was ample space throughout. We did have a difficult time finding it and it was a little unclear at first whether we could park in the parking since it's all labeled for the gym but we didn't have any issues. I got the organic veggie bowl with tofu. It was absolutely amazing super fresh ingredients and when they brought it over, they offered me Sriracha so glad I took them up on this offer to make the dish a little spicy. My only complaint is that it is very expensive. The cost for this on a quick service option is a little high in my opinion. especially when you clean up your own tables. Cafe Vida is a great healthy restaurant that gives large portions. My tuna wrap came with a side of sweet potato fries and they give you a very large portion of fries! It is a little on the pricey side but everything is very fresh and good quality. The have a little lounge area indoors and outdoors and a television. It's very comfortable and relaxing environment. The food is a bit pricey, but considering the area and fresh produce I guess it makes sense. Overall we liked our food except for one dish, the breakfast wrap. It was too plain. I ordered the Açaí smoothie on DoorDash in a large group order. In this photo you will see the gigantic amount of PLASTIC that was in my smoothie. I called and I feel as though the manager was BARELY apologetic. She just tried to explain why there was an immense amount of plastic in my drink and how she thinks it happened. I could care less how it happened - I care about how you're going to make it right. Plastic is extremely harmful to consume. The manager literally said "sorry" one time and then said oh and you can come in for a gift card if you want but I doubt you want it. Well, I definitely don't want it when you put it that way? Additionally to the horrible phone call, she asked me to email her the photos after our phone call, so I did. Guess what? NO REPLY after an entire week.
