This place is amazing! Great service and delicious food! My husband and I decided to order a bunch of tapas items for our meal. The bacon wrapped dates are a must! We also really enjoyed the tiramisu for dessert, my husband typically doesn't like it, but this one does not have a strong coffee flavor, so he loved it! Four discerning ladies on a GNO shared about 12 diff tapas/small plates here and all tasted delicious (garlic fries, MINI crab cakes, butternut squash ravioli, roasted Brussel sprouts, etc) but came in noticeably tiny portions. The service was great (friendly serving staff) and the ambiance inside (esp in light of location in a very un-glamorous strip mall) was surprisingly nice as well. The major strike was that my friend's tea was served tepid(!) so obviously the tea couldn't steep in cold water and was sent back, and my after-dinner coffee was Also served tepid! Not warm, tepid! That too was sent back. How is coffee tepid unless it hasn't been sitting there for hours?! So when it was re-served to me a minute later, I was pretty sure it had been microwaved. Unassuming location in a strip mall, but the food and staff are a real pleasure. I was supposed to meet a work colleague but they couldn't make it, so I enjoyed the experience by myself. A lovely glass of sangria and the friendly, attentive staff made it a pleasant evening. My favorite tapa was the fried cauliflower. Basically, you wouldn't expect a nice place like this to be here, but alas it is here. This place offers a great option of tapas and very delicious flavors. *Garlic Truffle Fries - My wife says there's not enough truffle, but I tasted the truffle very much so. It's very good, but you can say it can improve. Maybe even more truffle. **Tuna Tartare - This probably is the least tasteful of the bunch. Generous offering and is delightful when mixed. ***Chicken Wings - This is my second favorite item. It tastes like a lighter taste of thai chili sauce. I definitely recommend getting. ****Pizza Truffle Special - Very awesome pizza with tons of fresh ingredient awesomely displayed on top. I think we ordered too much, because we couldn't finish. *****Calamari - This is the standard in calamari italian style calamari. Just enough breading and the taste with the sauce is very good. ******Lamb Chop - You would get one per tapas, but it is worth it. One of my favorite items. Has a dip that riches it even more. We were initially going to Havana for Cuban food , but really wanted a smaller, local restaurant to celebrate my birthday . Invested a good amount of time going through Yelp, reading individual reviews . I've learned not to relay on the stars itself because it does not really reflect the greatness or mediocrity of a restaurant . I was on a missIon to try the house special "oxtail," and the Spanish seafood stew . I really thought some of the reviewers were exaggerating when they said the sauces of these two great dishes are so good you want to drink the rest of the sauce straight out of the bowl, they were not kidding . When the waitress asked whether she could clear the dish with a good amount of sauce left it in , I had to say no . I experimented adding my husband's rice to it, and then my daughter's linguine... and the combination are all divine . My family loves food , and they are the worst critic when it comes to restaurants . I wanted this-birthday to be a celebration not only of another year of life , but also a celebration of our love for food , and how important milestones always revolve around breaking bread . Service was great , from the moment we were seated down to the waitress running after us when I forgot the brown bag of to-go boxes as we were leaving the restaurant . The waitress was great - attentive and accommodating. I love watching the chef make the dishes as customers order . It was a truly great experience with the sound of food sizzle , the tempting aroma , the wine , the music , the flaming cheese dish coming from the next table. The small plates here are excellent in particular, the stuffed dates and mushrooms. But... the paella blew me away with its mediocrasy. Dry, flavorless rice with some steamed seafood thrown on top- oh, and some peas. Try the rest but save yourself the grief on that entree. This is mine and my sister's favorite little secret spot in Orange. We had gone for the first time right around the time they opened and had an amazing time. The service, the food and the wine were all just fantastic! We ended up going back about 5 months later and had an even more pleasant experience (we did not think that was even possible). We really loved the bottle of wine we had gotten the first time, but couldnt remember what it was. Intimate small restaurant with delicious Tapas. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms and really enjoyed them. You get four. We also selected the Lamb meatballs. Two very large meatballs that were nicely seasoned. I also liked the texture which was fine vs chunky. A nice tomato based sauce was included The Spanokapita was my favorite dish. Flaky crisp dough and nicely seasoned spinach and feta fillings The Three Musketeers was a nice combo of bruschetta, tapenade and eggplant toppings on crunchy bread. That was hard to share and next time we would get an order of those for each of us or two orders with a table of four. The owner, Henri was very nice. We told him we thought the garlic truffle fries were a bit soggy and he explained it was the oil and next time (and there will be a next time) to order them with the oil on the side so the fries stay crispy. Finally we ended with the chocolate ganache cake and tiramisu. Normally we share one dessert but I'm sober and there was Kahluha in it. Maarten said it was the best tiramisu he has ever had!! We were really pleased with our choices and will pick some different tapas next time to taste some other dishes. It was early on a Wednesday when we got there and when we left the place was almost full. Pretty impressive for a place only open about a month and mid week. I would like it if they put up something to block the glare from the large kitchen light. It took away a bit from the ambiance. Tony was a great server. Helpful, polite. Small place but big flavors! Friend and I had a girls night out and came across this delicious location. It is small, so reservations are recommended. Thankfully they were able to seat us at the bar and it was the best choice. We had a front view of the open kitchen where the chef prepared everything so effortlessly. Having just moved to Orange Ca. we were desperately trying to find a replacement bistro to our beloved Metro Cafe in Culver City we came upon Truffle Cafe. The greeting and subsequent service from the waiter who hailed from Montana was outstanding. Truly a blessing to any business, alas I cannot remember his name. We ordered an appetizer of a Soppressata paste on a crouton which was neither here nor there. Bread was great the paste could have been anything really and as a great fan of Soppressata sausage I was underwhelmed. But that was nothing compared to the really awful entrees. My partner had the Fruta De Mare all of which were old and dried out bordering on purely insulting to be served such bad fruta de mare. I had the Pappardelle de Abruzzi which is generally a lamb sauce. The sauce was not bad. Abruzzi is a very rustic part of Italy sitting on the Adriatic coast and still has shepherds herding sheep etc. So lamb is the usual meat. Pappardelle is a ribbon like pasta that is quite thin. The pasta was so congealed that only a very few strands were separate. This is an unforgivable "mistake" for a chef who studied in Europe and was born in Portugal, studied in Denmark and then returned from the USA to further study culinary arts in Europe before once again returning here to open Truffle Bistro. This meal was also close to $80.00 without dessert or alcohol, not cheap by any standards. Never in a million years would I want to affect the business of anyone. But I hope that Chef would never again serve old sea food, and that he would make sure that the pasta doesn't stick together. It's really cooking 101. I will try Truffle Bistro again in a few months perhaps May and hope that at that time the sea food is fresh and that they have learnt to perhaps add a little oil to the pasta water (it helps to keep the pasta from sticking together). Of course another school will say that doing so prevents the food from "sticking" to the pasta! Everybody will have an opinion, I suppose. Hidden gem in a strip mall you wouldn't normally visit cuz it seems really shady. It's across the street from residential single family homes that had a house party when we went; the kind where cars park on the front lawn. Once you're inside, you're in a different world. I could be in Hollywood, Venice, or some other whole in the wall neighborhood secret. The decor is Spartan but the music is pure nostalgia with Sinatra and bossa nova sprinkled throughout. The food is good. The sauces are complex, layered, and almost heavenly. Tapas portions are small, like they should be. You can try 5 to 6 plates without feeling disgustingly full afterwards. My only suggestion is more dishes that are lighter, like more salads, and other vegetarian/veggie dishes. My taste buds would benefit greatly if it can reset itself in between the other heavy but extremely delicious tapas. read more

My husband and I went to Truffle Bistro with friends and very much appreciated both the friendly waitress and the food. The star of the evening was my husband's Spanish Seafood stew! The shellfish was plentiful and very fresh. Chef Henry's broth was to die for.....so much so that when my husband didn't think I was looking he picked up his bowl and drank it. While the stew was an entree the rest of us ordered tapas sized plates of lamb kabobs, shrimp, scallops , salmon carpaccio and blue cheese gnocchi. All was great. It's a large menu so plenty of selections. If you don't have a crowd to visit with, consider sitting up at the bar where you are up close and personal to the chef/ owner and you watch him create the dishes from start to finish. We went to Truffle Bistro for the first time last weekend. It is tucked away in a strip mall but you feel transported to a cute cafe in Spain, Portugal or Italy. I would recommend reservations since it is a smaller bistro, but they were very accommodating when we were running late. We will be back! read more

Wow where do I start? First off the service was beyond exceptional. Our server was very informative with the menu, and very friendly 5 stars for that! We started our dinner with a few tapas which included the Brussel sprouts, calamari and fried cauliflower with siracha aioli. All 3 of them were very flavorful and cooked to perfection! Our main dish was the gambari de Sophia( which our server said happens to be the most popular dish) and the and a seafood pasta I highly recommend trying both! We ended our dinner with the delicious lemon chello and the mouth watering freshly made tirumsu! If you haven't had a chance to try this place. I highly recommend doing so! read more

The fact that I was compelled to write about your place shows that it really was bad. You really should learn how to take constructive criticism better. It would do wonders for your business. The table next to us and the table next to them also complained about how hot it was in there. Has nothing to do with the fact that we had wine. If you read through a few of your other reviews, it seems to be a recurring problem as others have mentioned it as well. The other entrees sucked too. When the Uber pulled up you think "oh is this it?" Inside simple but tasteful décor, staff are great, its a small restaurant and the staff are very enthusiastic and friendly.
