Service was amazing, everyone was very nice and working their hardest to make sure the experience you have is amazing! We had the Golden Bucket and it was so delicious, lots of flavor, my group was 4 people and it fed exactly that. My favorite part was the Crab and Lobster, but it was all so good. We also had the famous honey cornbread which was very good and perfect for desert. This place is new to fuquay and I would recommend it any day of the week. Met my brother for lunch at the former Aviator spot. Almost nothing has changed but the food. All the women running the place were super welcoming and kind. I really felt like they wanted us to be there. It really was an elevated level of hospitality. Smiles and witty banter and full-on top service. I ordered the lunch special catfish with cajun fries. Honey cornbread for dessert. They gave me split bread to make my own fish sandwich served in a heart shape. I swear, I feel like one of those gals kinda liked me. Then again, maybe the service was just that great. Either one. I really liked the catfish, the fries were okay and the dessert was sweeter than I wanted. It looked great, but in the end, it was just a mouthful of crumbly sugar. However, I highly recommend they start serving that sandwich I made for myself as a menu item. Fairly new location for this business. Took over the building from another restaurant vendor. TrYSeafood did minimal amount of renovations in customer area. We found the background music to be a little loud. I thought the menu had a limited selection of types of fish. They do offer three different ways to prepare your selection. My wifes flounder was a little heavy in breading and tasted ok. She also had the mac-n-chez which was nothing to right home about. I had the blackened salmon which was prepared well with seasoned brocoli and corn on the cob. At thi\s time they are limited on beer selection with no tap beer. Our waitress was not very attentive. The value for meal was ok. Might need to let this location work out some kinks before trying again. read more

Super excited to have this great seafood open in downtown Varina. This is larger location than their Cary spot and they'll need to get a rhythm going on their service but we're confident they'll get there! In the meantime, the broiled shrimp were delicious and we loved the potatoes, corn and steamed broccoli. And equally amazing was the cornbread flight we devoured while waiting for our entrees. TrYSeafood is now open in the space previously occupied by Aviator Smokehouse. We stopped in for lunch and, unfortunately, left feeling underwhelmed. I ordered the 6-piece jerk shrimp appetizer with a side of mac and cheese and smoked turkey collard greens. I also had a beer and a strawberry lemonade. My husband ordered the 2-piece grilled blackened catfish with water. Overall, the food was just okay. The catfish was nicely presented, although the plating made the portion look more substantial with the accompaniments than it actually was. The collard greens had way too much heat and I could not eat them. The biggest issue was the service, which was surprisingly spotty considering the restaurant wasn't busy. Our server left during our meal but no one was assigned to take over our table, leaving us without drinks for a while. For the prices the overall experience didn't quite live up to expectations but I am glad to see a new seafood option in Downtown Fuquay-Varina. read more

This is my third visit in less than two weeks, and I am loving it. The owners, Scott and Gina, are so pleasant and accommodating ensuring that everything was exactly as we ordered. This time I brought my Sorority Sisters and they could not stop talking about the tasty and well seasoned food. I hope Try Seafood sells their Lemon Pepper seasoning. Don't get me wrong most of the food was tasty. However, we waited about 1.5 hours for our food and it was at less than 40% capacity. After about 30 minutes of waiting a lady came to the table and said "oh you guys haven't got any cornbread?" We figured it was something maybe they give out while waiting like a bread basket. To which we responded "oh we weren't aware you guys served cornbread" she said "yes we do we have a flight of 3 flavors would you like an order?" And added an order to the tab. We could have asked more questions however it almost felt like this order was pushed on us. Another thing, I asked for my drink in to-go cup and they said they don't have enough of them for the to-go orders in which i understood and was ok with regular cups. Then i asked for a refill and was told a sweet tea would be charged at full price for refills. One cluster of crab legs is $51. My toddler ate most of it and was still hungry so i asked for another one not realizing i would pay over 100 for 2 clusters of crabs. Also, My son waited patiently for a quesadilla that came out clearly burnt. When i asked the waitress she said "yeah I'm sorry, i don't know why they still served it" which i didn't understand how it not only left the cooks hands but was also plated and served with no care that it was clearly black from being burned. We had questions about the menu and it seemed like the waitress had no clue what they even serve. This restaurant just opened up in Fuquay. Eight of us went last night for dinner. We were seated promptly and the waitress was very nice. The flight of cornbread was excellent. Went for dinner last night and the only good highlight were the fried clam strips. They were fresh and hot out of the kitchen. This cannot be said for the two dinners we ordered. We were handed someone else's order before the appetizer arrived. The server insisted it was our order and would not remove it (I ordered 5 shrimp and 5 scallops, ordered delivered did not have scallops). Our neighboring table had of offer their utensils to us because none were provided. The meals we did not order were cold and the butter on the veggies has started to congeal. Wait staff seemed overwhelmed. We did receive an apology for the incorrect orders but a refund would have gone along way OR even serving the correct HOT orders. I'm hoping that in six months they will have improved on service. read more

We went to the new TrYSeafood in Fuquay Varina for dinner last night. Though still on their limited opening menu, the food was delicious and portions were very generous. We had the mussels and the dessert cornbread flight to start (highly recommend the cornbread!). The mussels were tasty although a bit of a different taste profile than we expected (we're used to a garlic butter/white wine preparation while these are more bell pepper/onion/vinegar sauce forward). For mains, we tried a variety of items. Fried whiting with Mac and cheese, chicken pasta, shrimp quesadilla, fried oysters and fried shrimp, and finally the red snapper meal. The fried seafood was all crispy and hot, with very little oil residue and not caked in batter. The red snapper is well deserving of its price point: a whole 1.5 lb snapper served grilled on a sizzling hot skillet. Flaky and tender, and large enough to feel properly full afterwards. The staff was attentive throughout the meal, with table touches throughout to make sure that all aspects were going well. There was some expected timing quirks as they've only been open a few days (just under a week as of this writing), but nothing that was worrisome or negative to the overall experience, simply a new team learning a new menu in real time! We will definitely be returning in the future! read more

It may be a bit unfair to rate a restaurant without ever having tried their food. I wanted to try TrySeafood. I just couldn't. We got in line just to put our name on the wait list. We waited. And waited. The line was 8 groups deep and still no sign of a person who was willing to even acknowledge we were there. The person we thought might be the hostess was flitting around the room doing everything but hosting. We left, walked a couple doors down and had a nice meal at Nil's Mediterranean - I'll give them a 5. Anyway, saw a couple of other groups who had been in the same line who made the move. Although they've been open several weeks now, I don't think TrySeafood has found their rhythm yet. We'll try Try again and maybe hand out a 5 like the other two people who have reviewed.
