I will share that the people I typically go with here luckily know the staff so i've never really had to wait :) and we typically go here from breakfast, late breakfast, or might as well call it hung over brunch. If you're coming for breakfast do not come starving because there is a high probability that you may need to wait. You are able however if there's muffins or pastries in the cold case, grab one while you wait if you're starving. Worth the wait- my default has always been the soy chorizo quesadilla. I've had other items like the nova lox, corned beef, etc and have all been good. a great breaksfast staple in North County and always hits the spot! the BF always orders the Bloody Mary's so though I haven't tried it myself, I've heard its pretty gosh darn good. read more

This place was pretty much a diner, but somehow seemed like a cool log cabin to me. There was a fire pit in the middle of the dining room. Every plate that passed me as I waited (10 minutes at noon on Saturday of Labor Day weekend) looked and smelled amazing. I ordered a bloody mary from the bar and the bartender actually made one especially for me with no garlic, because I'm allergic to it. It was excellent. It was hard to decide what I wanted, but I finally chose the triple decker club sandwich with no ham. It was great with avocado on sourdough bread. The regular fries were perfectly done. My boyfriend's curly fries were also perfectly done. He liked his open faced California melt, but it wasn't his favorite thing ever. He prefers deli turkey as opposed to thick sliced, and also prefers a closed face sandwich. There were MANY things I would have liked to try here, but I was fully satisfied with my lunch. I loved going to T's Cafe as a kid (When it was called Mr. T's Cafe) and this year my husband and I re-discovered the place. I can say it's as good as I remember. My husband loves that the mimosas are served in a pint glass and raved over the California scramble. I always get the stuffed french toast because it's a perfect mix of sweet and savory and big enough to share with my son and still take some home. As other's have mentioned the Bloody Mary's are amazing but I also like the hot tea - served loose leaf. We always arrive early on Sat or Sun usually there by 8am and there is never a wait but as we're leaving all the tables are full and sometimes people are waiting outside. I've been coming to T's (I still call it Mr.T's!) my entire life! And i'm not even exaggerating, I first came here when I was still in diapers. It's got a bit of an older vibe, but still is good for any age group. There is a huge menu selection, and although I typically stick with some variation of Eggs Benedict, everything I have tried has been good - salads, veggie burger, skillet, omelet, the list goes on. Their Bloody Mary's are the best around, and there is also a bar in the restaurant! The ONLY downside I have experienced is that in recent years, they have started to hire younger waitresses - and they are awful! I don't want to deduct any stars over it because I know they are great, but it is a new pattern. Every time I get someone who looks under about 35 ends up being just a really slow server that always seems to be within eyeshot but never close enough to actually pay attention to you. Every older server has been friendly, and smiling, and gives you plenty of attention! A must-try for brunch!! Typically weekdays aren't too busy. read more

T' has a diner feel with coastal prices. With that being said, the portions are generous and the service is usually spot on. I admit, I've only been here during the breakfast hours and it is pretty tough to mess that up. T's can be quite crowded on Sunday mornings so you can expect a wait to be seated. Parking can can also be somewhat troublesome but as previously mentioned, there is a parking lot in the back. The parking lot is a little cramped and I would suggest finding some street parking. A nice selection of breakfast menu items to choose from and everything I've had on the menu was quite tasty.......their French Toast is one of my favs. Nice place to go for an early breakfast then spend the day by the beach or ride your bike up the coast. We waited 30 minutes to get seated and then waited almost an hour for our food after we got seated. We had to tell them if we didn't get our food in 5 min, we'd have to leave as we were heading out of town. Food magically came to our table within 5 min and 2 of our 4 dishes were cold. Took the Coaster from Old Town to the Del Mar Race Track(Solana Beach station) yesterday. Based on the schedule of the Coaster we arrived at 11:00am. We asked a "local" where to have a great breakfast and the said "The T Café" right up the street. We arrived and there was a long wait out the door. We were able to get two seats at the counter - and had the pleasure of having the Owner wait on us. We did have their Bloody Mary's and it was very good. We had the Surfside Benedicts' ( made with fresh crab vs. Canadian Bacon) and the Pancake and egg combo. They were both very good!!! We had a leisure breakfast, were not rushed at all, and had plenty of time to get to the track. What a nice pleasant experience. "Thank You" Local person. Loved my experience at T's. Food was awesome, I got the buckwheat pancakes with a hamsteak and juice. The juice is fresh, like legit real juice. It's amazing!!! Pancakes are fluffy and ham was delicious. Only complaint was the hostess, she really had not a clue what was going on. Ate here on Saturday, Aug 30. It was really yummy. I got the create your own omelet & it was so good & a lot of food. My husband also got the create your own. He was happy since he could get Gorgonzola cheese in it. We also split the banana stuffed French toast. It was good but not WOW. The coffee was good & the mimosas were nice & strong. Another annoying thing is there is an old -fashioned piano in the lobby & some people allowed their little crumb snatchers play on it making all kinds of noise. Years ago, this was my favorite breakfast joint. Last time I stopped in my favorite item had been removed from the menu, Apple cinnamon pancakes. The food is AWESOME. The wait was horrible and the girl they had at the front seating people was so dumb I'm surprised she figured out how to get dressed that morning. She stood there clueless and had no idea how to seat people and took them all out of order to their seats and left tables empty for 5-10 minutes before she sat anyone. The wait staff looked irritated with her and started bringing people back themselves but because the hostess wasn't sure who got there first they took people out of order as well. We sat near a prep area and all of the supplies were empty and the wait staff spent a lot of time trying to find things and having to go get it somewhere else. The hostess also walked back and forth to the prep area looking like she wasn't sure what to do. I'm not sure if it was just because of new staff or because management sucked. That being said, we will go back because the food is just that good. The biscuits and gravy were out of this world. The Bloody Mary was perfection and the eggs Benedict were perfectly poached. T's is casual with a great mix of customers, young, old, families, etc. This place is great for all. The staff is friendly and easy going. We ordered our drinks at the bar after putting our name in. Don't order anything that is not breakfast related before 10:30am or 30 minutes later the lame bartender will inform you that your order cannot be completed. Please order something else. Hmmmm, we went on a weekday, not crowded so I figured that I could give this a safe review since the service wouldn't be compromised due to crowds and the rush. The patio was full of dogs, I have a dog. A lab. I love him. I sure as hell don't want to eat with him. I have my boundaries. I have a cat too, but I don't let it walk on my counter either. I have a lizard but I don't eat crickets. Anywho....I do eat with my kids and husband even if they haven't had a shower! The man had an omelette, he was fine with that, that's why he doesn't Yelp. Kids b-fast was fine, they loved their waffles, but then they don't know Eggo's over homemade, not old enough to Yelp. I ordered the Popeye. It's an eggs benedict with spinach instead of hash. I figured I could feel less guilty eating spinach instead of a poor cut of meat rescued by nitrates and potatoes. I ordered the hashbrowns as my side since I love hashbrowns and always judge a restaurant on their hashbrowns... Okay then, the poached eggs were not good, the yolks were overcooked, not just medium but I really had to press on them to get a runny yolk out of them. The spinach was fresh which was nice and it was nestled upon a wheat english muffin and it was wayyyyy mushy, it was sitting for at least a minute for pick up because the hollandaise sauce had a skin on it. I guess it was during that time the egg continued to cook. I'm going to go out on a limb and say the hollandaise sauce is the packaged Knoors brand, because it was grainy and one dimensional. Plus, it was something that I used to use a lot as an amateur cook before I took the time to actually make it, huge dif. Okay, I read other reviews about the hashbrowns and they weren't kidding! Don't order them! They're hideous and everyone said they were weird. Well, aint that the truth! It really puzzled me as to how they made them, I was almost obsessed with it because I continued to burp them up all afternoon and then I figured it out. At least I think I did...okay, I have to admit that I've been on a bunch of diets and since I can't abandon my hashbrown addiction, I had tried all sorts of ways to cook them. I remember The Incident where I cooked them with Pam. So when that happens, it comes out with this weird flavor, and if you barely overcook the outside it gets burnt easily and smells like a burnt Barbie Doll. I don't have time to explain that either, but just trust me and get the country fries instead or just skip the place. read more

The good: Food is great--there were 6 in our party, and once the food arrived, we all had a great meal, including: eggs benedict, chili burger, french toast, custom scramble, breakfast burrito & some breakfast taco thing w/ chorizo (which seemed to be practically the same as the burrito, but just presented differently)...it definitely hit the spot! The bad: SLOW SERVICE. Wow, we sent 2 ahead to put our name in, and still waited for over an hour. Then they misplaced the sheet with our name, and we were the only ones left not yet seated on that particular sheet, and as we finally watched a large party get up, they started splitting up the large table. We were able to grab it, and then waited forever to put in our order. Our poor waitress seemed very stressed & frazzled, which said to us they really need to hire more servers for the weekend brunch rush. I've never had one of their supposedly famous bloody marys. I've also never had their (also) supposedly famous corned beef hash. But the breakfasts I have had there were.... fine. Nothing to write home about. They've got a huge menu - it comes as a spiral-bound booket! - but what sounds spectacular in writing doesn't usually translate to spectacular in taste. Hubby had the surfside benedict once and it was a disaster. I've never known him to declare an entree as "almost inedible." I've had their acacia scrambler (kind of watery, even though I know that may be hard to imagine), whole wheat pancakes, and servings of fruit (which are teeeny tiny!). I will say that my husband thinks the California skillet is is one of the best breakfasts in North County, and it's for that reason that we go at all. My boyfriend and I have been here a couple of times. We have this constant debate whether Ts or Beach Grass is better. He prefers Ts and I prefer Beach Grass... We met for breakfast this morning and as always were met with friendly service and had a good meal. The good is always good and consistent but never outstanding or unique. But if you want a good normal breakfast place that had lots of options and pretty standard food then this is it. Today I got the Solana omelet but traded out the Swiss cheese for pepper jack. I liked the little extra spice, however my cheese was not completely melted but it was still good. They are generous with the omelet ingredients which is always nice. I also got the biscuits and gravy, good but nothing special. I also am not a fan of how they serve them separately, I wish it came out smothered in gravy already. My boyfriend got the Swamis omelet, packed with different meats but a little light on cheese. Again, always good consistent food but pretty standard breakfast fare. Breakfast fail... Service: in the rare moments our server bothered to stop by our table, she didn't even pretend to be friendly. She had a bizarre attitude that waffled between rude and annoyed. Food: we waited about 40 minutes for a simple egg scramble ("the 101"). When it arrived, we were surprised at how plain everything tasted. We ordered biscuits and gravy along with the eggs, but the gravy was so runny and tasteless we struggled to eat it. T's used to be a great place to get breakfast. Somehow, they've lost their mojo. I was lured in by their claim of having the best Bloody Mary's in town. NO BUENO! Both the Bloody Mary's and the food were mediocre at best. Bloody Mary's were too "foo-foo", a bit bland, and way overpriced for what we got. Truly, felt let down by such a wild claim. Truly, I would rather have stayed closer to home and gotten a GREAT Bloody Mary at Hennesey's Tavern in Carlsbad. Their only saving grace was their hostess/wait staff. They did a tremendous job of getting our food to us in a timely manner and keeping our drinks topped off. They are the only reason why I gave the place a second star. read more

My friend was able to make a reservation for a birthday brunch while I was in town. We had a large group (8) so it was nice to be able to make a reservation! I don't know what time we actually got seated, but it wasn't too busy (11:30 on a Sunday). It didn't take our waitress too long to take our food and drink orders. Our drinks didn't take too long either. Food came out fine, no issues. Overall decent breakfast/brunch food. I was surprised when our waitress brought the tab and it didn't have gratuity on it. The waitress then sat and counted our tip in front of us and gave me (I had been the one to hand her our bill) a semi annoyed look. We tipped 20% and did not hassle her at all so I'm not sure what the reason for it was! At the time when we left the place was basically empty so it's not like we were holding a table where she could have been making more money. Oh well. I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it to anyone visiting the area but I wouldn't turn it down for brunch again. read more

While I waited for my food, I saw a family of 5 order and eat and another couple arrive 15 minutes after me order, receive food, eat and leave while I was sitting and waiting. AMAZING FOOD. HORRIBLE SERVICE. Went to cafe T's with 3 other friends yesterday for brunch. Waited about 10mins before we were even greeted at our table by out server Kathy. We were outside due to our dog we brought, and we just wanted drinks to cool off. She took our entire order when she finally came to our table, ordered drinks and food. It took about 20-25 mins for our food.....still no drinks. I only ordered juice and didn't get it till after out food showed up. Asked for ketchup 3 different times, asked for a to go box 3 different times. Another server asked Kathy if she needed help with her tables and she replied: "oh no! I got it, thanks though." NO, No you don't! You need help!!! After a $75 dollar brunch for 4 people, only left a $6 tip, didn't feel bad, horrible service. We were there for 2hrs, and left as soon as she gave us our credit cards back, didn't even stay around to talk. If you have half your day to wait to eat some amazing food, then go here. read more
