Did brunch at this place...great atmospherre, really good food. Had the combo wombo breakfast consisting of pancakes, eggs, bacon,etc. Nice size portions and very fulfilling. Friend had the corned beef hash Benedict Florentino. This is my second time coming here. My boyfriend lives around the corner and comes with his daughters. The first time we had wonderful service but their specialty eggs Benedict came with the eggs well done. I brought it to the server's attention and he apologized and offered to remedy the situation. Unfortunately we were short on time and couldn't wait. Today is my second time. After being seated we got our beverages immediately. Our waitress came about 15 minutes later with no apologies and the worst attitude. I tried to give her a chance and while taking our order she never smiled. I asked the busboy if she always like this and he replied by saying the computer system was down. My reply was regardless this shouldn't affect her attitude towards customers. I've worked in the restaurant industry while going to college and employees talk. Lindsay came back with a bigger attitude. She never came back to the table. My eggs were over easy as opposed to over medium. I had to flag the busboy to get more syrup while my pancakes got colder. We asked for the check and she told us that they were rebooting the system and can only take cash and if we were to pay by cc it would take awhile. We payed by cash and she gave the change by just throwing the change back. I will never come here again and my partner and his kids won't either. He says the owner is here on the weekends perhaps she should come on the weekdays. Go to Claire's. Nice servers, good food and ambience is better. read more

Once we walked up and ordered our food and drinks (how this place works, you don't have a waitress you have to go up to the outdoor bar and order) we waited an hour for our food, told one of the random 18 yr olds running food that we had to leave, then our food comes out 5 mins later. I ordered the lox, my smoked salmon was crusty and dry on the edges, the English muffin was completely soggy, and the potatoes were bland without ANY seasoning. Looked like it had been sitting on the back for the whole hour. It was cold and disgusting. We verbalized our disappointment with the hostest (the only one who seemed to be working and paying attention), but got nothing comped even after we said we wanted to cancel our order. They never brought out water, a coffee refill, our dogs water bowl we asked for, or our side of ranch. Absolute waste of money and time. Beyond frustrating. How is this place even still open. Always impressed with this breakfast joint! You wouldn't know it from its humble appearance that the breakfast is the by far the best and most consistent in Solana Beach. As a walking distance local we have our fair share of breakfast places nearby and Ts is our go to for the high quality food and friendly staff. Linda was working our area near the small chimney. Real sweet with a nice smile. She made sure the food was good, that drinks were full and we weren't missing a thing. Portions were well served. I ordered the banana stuffed Fr. toast with berries... two thumbs up. Next to me sat an order of chorizo with jalapeno and eggs. Tasty as well. Everyone in the group was happy. We were hungry and ordered immediately. 30 min later we asked about our order and were told the kitchen was backed up another 8-10 min..... 25 min later we asked again about our meal, it was a little after 1pm... We were told the food was not ready, how about some fruit and biscuits?fruit and biscuits came and we waited and watched our waitress deliver food to other people. We then got up and left. The waitress never apologized for the delay and was very short with us..... The food didn't look that complicated to prepare in a reasonable period of time. This is not five star dinning.... This is my little hometown gem. I love taking new friends to breakfast at T's. Their Bloody Mary's are hard to beat, the food quality has always exceeded my expectations, the staff has a smile on their face, and it is such a cozy environment. Last weekend I brought a good friend and his 3-year-old daughter; she couldn't have been more happy to have a cute little bucket of crayons and paper menu where she can color in the animals... Hi I'd give 5 stars but. Been eating here since 1989 or so. Here GRITS are beyond blah!!! Gross. Pollenta (yellow grits) would be the way to go. It's the non bleached version.. more healthy much better taste. And they don't look like a gray death melting on the plate. You can mix white and yellow together to create a perfect flavor. Slow service. Tried to go to Clair's on Cedros ( much better rated) , but the wait was an hour. Could have waited the hour and had better service and food. We sat for over half an hour before the waitress came by and when she finally stopped by our table she assumed we weren't ready and asked if we needed a few minutes! And then my father in law found that our server had added a $10 tip for himself. This was of course in addition to the tip he received, which was more that 18% (cash). He pencilled it in himself. This is not for the food, the food is good. It is for the customer service. We went a few weeks ago around 10:30 for brunch on a Saturday. Not a large group, mind you, only 5 people with 2 little ones under 5. We were kept waiting for more than 40 minutes. We sat down, and then it took another 10 minutes for anyone to come up. One girl came to take drink orders. She brought me cold coffee! (Not iced, cold yuk) and water with no ice. The waitress came and took our order and we never saw her again until she brought us our bill. At the end of the meal, they cleared our dishes before we were done! Today we gave it a second chance. There were plenty of seats, but again, kept us waiting. When we asked if we could sit at an open table, they said no, that's not big enough for 5 people (again, 2 were under the age of 5.). I've given T's Cafe enough chances. We won't be going back. read more

This used to be one of my favorite weekend spots. For a light weight like me, one Bloody Mary and I'm done. I would like to give it the title "Best Bloody Mary in San Diego", or at least North County. While a little on the pricey side, especially if you make a custom omelette, scramble, or potato skillet, everything is delicious. They also serve good ol' grits with butter and honey and I don't know any other place in San Diego that does that. I also don't know how or why, but they make the best wheat toast. Preface: While camping at San Elijo, my girlfriend and I went scouring through the seemingly endless little cafes and what-have-yous along PCH in Encinitas. After a fruitless expedition to about four restaurants within a five minute walking distance, we gave up (although one did have "wine vodka"--blech). Our friend recommended T's on the opposite side of San Elijo, not but 5 minutes from the campsite. We were seated immediately despite the lines at the restaurants in Encinitas. The waitstaff and management were friendly and helpful; they even assisted us in finding some nightlife. Bloody Bevvies: We both ordered Ketel One Bloody Marys, but I quickly realized that I had my heart set on a Bloody María in its stead (replace vodka w/ tequila). So the manager quickly whipped me up a Sauza Bloody María (god forbid he use Cuervo, their house tequila) and my girlfriend enjoyed my Mary w/ an extra shot of Ketel; not sure if it's because they were weak or if we're just a couple of lushes... maybe both. T's own Mary Mix is superb! The viscosity was perfect; not too thick or thin. We wanted some to take home, but the bottle deposit was something along the lines of $15 plus $5 for the mix, for a total of $20 for a jug-full (1/2-gallon, maybe). It was quickly decided that T's Bloody Mary mix would be enjoyed strictly on a trip-to-Solana-Beach basis (maybe in a couple of months for the Skatalites show at the Belly Up). La Carta: The menu selection was large and varied. I believe that breakfast is served until 2pm. Amongst the requisite omelets (both build-your-own and combinations bearing names), french toast, and pancakes, the menu included the not-as-common scrambles and skillets, chicken, steak, specialty benedicts are served with a separate section for those lacking Hollandaise (I had a hard time not ordering one of these). The Stuffed French Toast sounded lustfully gluttonous (FT stuffed w/ Swiss & eggs, served w/ choice of side.. for only $9.50!). For the dieters and/or hippies, cereal and yogurt are also available. The lunch menu included a wide variety of salads, sandwiches/bagels/melts, all of which sounded delicious, but failed to trump my hunger for a breakfast dish paired with my lascivious need for a Bloody María. On to our order: Being our first time, I had to try something than my wonted veggie omelet, so I opted for the Chorizo Killer (which, I guess for all intents and purposes, could be considered an omelet... oh well). It's kind of an omelet meets huevos rancheros (my second breakkie fave) with chorizo, jalapeños, and cheddar, mixed into huevos revueltos, served with a side of two (tiny) corn tortillas and a small bowl of black beans, which themselves were incredible. A small dish of homemade salsa topped it off impeccably. The portion was perfect--I easily could have stuffed myself on this dish. My girlfriend ordered three egg-whites with mushrooms and Swiss. She was very pleased, and although I didn't try her dish, everything was cooked very well; not in the sense of over-cooked, but skillfully. The eggs were not at all runny and just slightly browned. With this, she got a side of cottage cheese. Closing: Our tab came out to $50 +/- $5. Cocktails were about $8/ea. (3 Bloodys + 1 topper) and the dishes were about $9/ea. Maybe on the higher side of average, but the experience was well worth it. It was a nice contrast to the semi-uppity vibe of Encinitas and a notch or two down from Cardiff's row of higher-end Chart House and the whatnot surrounding it. I'm goint to have to agree with Julie, who calls it a good old-fashioned greasy spoon breakfast...it was just that. Ther server was a sweet lady and everything came out with decent timing. I had an eggs benedict with bacon, spinach, avacados, and tomatoes. I believe that the quality of a benedict relies a lot on the hollandaise sauce, which was sub-par. I wasn't impressed or dissapointed. My boyfriend got the french toast stuffed with eggs, ham, swiss and said it was mediocre. My tip to you is to order your drinks from the hostess when she asks, when she seats you because the server is stretched a little thin. At the end of our meal our breakfast including 2 bloody marys was about $34.00 and then of course the 20% grat (which for the record is customary for average service...15% is insulting) read more

I had one specification when choosing a breakfast place today and that was I wanted a damn good bloody mary. My companion suggested this place and he was dead on with his choice. Needless to say, the bloody mary is excellent. The mix is delicious and spicy (just how I like my men?). Not much vodka, but this is expected in a "morning" drink. I ordered the Solana Sunrise with hash browns. The Solana Sunrise was perfect, but the hash browns were eh (should have ordered the home fries). Also, they don't serve biscuits and gravy with the benedicts anymore! Luckily, I got a taste of it. The biscuit was flaky and light, and the gravy super creamy and nommy. The waitress rolled her eyes several times when we asked common questions about the menu and we had to ask another waitress for our checks. This could be a great place, but any time a 2 person brunch takes 2 1/2+ hours, its hard to leave happy. We arrived at 11 AM on Sunday. Wait was 35 mins to get a table. Not totally unexpected. Had a drink and relaxed. Got to our table. 20-30 mins for the server to check on us. 1 Hr to get the food. 30 mins to eat. 20 mins to get the check. My food was pretty good - - a little above average. Bloody Mary's are way over rated. I have no idea why everybody goes so nuts over them. Quite ordinary and in fact VERY heavy handed with the horseradish. If you go check it out, go very early or know ahead of time you're in for a multi-hour marathon. read more

The service in this restaurant on the day I was there, Saturday November 4th, was the worst I have experienced in many years dining in San Diego. I arrived at 9:15 AM (got a single table by the fire pit, Table #9). I was alone, I was seated at a two person table. No one even looked at me or responded to me by 9:30 AM; I had to ask the busboy for water and coffee and further ask him who my server was. I got my order taken by 9:30 AM. I told the waitress that I had to be out by 9:55 AM, because I had to catch a 10 AM train at Amtrak. As time when by, I knew that I would not get my meal before 9:55 AM. Every time I asked her about if my order would be coming out, she said soon. When the order was ready at 9:50, I told her to wrap it up for take out, for I had to catch the 10 AM train. I told her to put in Napkins, Plastic Silverware so that I can eat it later. She said everything was in the bag. Later, at the register, it took 5 minutes to get the credit card rang up; it appeared she could not figure out the register; she had to get some other server to help her on the register. I didn't get out of there until 10 AM. I was just lucky that the train was late, and I made it to the platform. The train was actually 45 minutes late, so when I tried to eat the meal on the train platform, I discovered that there was no utensils or napkins in the bag. To add agony to insult, the container looked like everything was all missed up, on purpose. There was hollandaise sauce over everything and also dripping out of the container. It was a meal with two poached eggs (not easy to eat without utensils) and alfalfa sprouts, and an english muffin. Everything was mixed together, with no way to eat it without the utensils or napkins on a train platform. I ended up throwing the whole $18 breakfast in the garbage. BTW, that waitress from Table #9 from 9:15 to 10 AM never even made eye contact with me. She almost made it clear that it was a bother to serve me. Thank you Yelp! We were on our way from Legoland to Sea World, and didn't want the free crappy breakfast at our hotel. So, I got onto Yelp and found T's Cafe, programmed the address into our Nav system, and off we went. It was convenient to get to, and the food was really great. I got the eggs benedict with crab, and my husband got the breakfast burrito. They were both very good, and the coffee was great! Our kids even made friends with a kid at the table next to us, so they were entertained while we drank our coffee and relaxed for a few minutes. A great morning! read more
