I replaced my MacBook battery myself and in doing so broke one of the connectors for the trackpad. I brought it to him knowing only that the trackpad didn't work and he diagnosed the issue and gave me the option to replace the cable or try to repair it. I said to repair it and it worked great and he charged me a very fair price for doing so. I rarely review places but I had such a great experience I just wanted to say something

Two of the five pads were also removed in the process. I reached out to a few businesses on Yelp to see if anyone can solder a new battery connector and the amount of people who tried to highball me was ridiculous. They tried to charge me the cost of a whole new motherboard. Gale, from GB Wireless, responded to me with a decent price so I drove over there the next morning they were open. Since it wasn't just a solder service but also him having to figure out where the ripped pads lead, I had to pay a little more but it was worth it. Gale was very friendly and was great at explaining what he would need to do. He gave me the estimate and said it would be ready the next day. A few hours later, I get a call saying he was able to fix it and my Switch is working perfectly. I appreciate service like this. As the customer, it just feels like they go above and beyond. Now I know where to go the next time I destroy something!

I have to thank Yelp for this one. I would have never found this place on my own and would have had…read moreto resort to the Geek Squad in my hour of desperation (oh the horror!). Granted, my laptop had been on its last legs for a while (I would go do other things while it woke up from hibernation). One afternoon, it just woudn't turn on. Oh shit! Guess who had backed nothing up? So I typed in "computer repair" into Yelp and this was the first non-Apple Store result. I will warn you, this place is not easy to get to without a car. It's in the middle of a residential neighborhood and required me to take a 20-minute ride on one of the16 series bus from either the Pentagon or Pentagon City Metro to get over here (I spared myself the Metro trek and just drove when I went to pick up my computer). Alex, the "chief geek" (his words, not mine) and owner, helped me out. He was very professional and helpful and even said he would try to fix my computer if possible, but only if it was cost-effective. He wasn't able to fix my computer, but was able to get all of my data off my hard drive. He also offered a free estimate (or rather, it went toward the cost of the data recovery) and recycled my old laptop free of charge. And he gave lots of good advice on what computer to buy next. I hope I won't actually need his services anytime soon, but I'd come back here in a heartbeat if I did. Even on the 16J.

It gives me no pleasure to rate a company two stars. The stars are solely for the convenience of…read morepick-up and delivery, not for the repair service provided. My PC, which I built a few years ago, was powering on but not displaying anything on the monitor. I decided to save time by taking it to a professional instead of troubleshooting it myself. Similar to how I might change my own oil but often leave it to a professional for convenience, I expected a straightforward experience. Initially, the tech seemed to fix the issue within a few hours. He moved the GPU to a different slot and switched from HDMI to DP--an easy fix requiring no parts. Unfortunately, the interactions I had with the tech by text and phone left me with little confidence in his ability, and I ultimately decided to finish the repairs myself. When I called to ask about diagnosis costs, I was told it could cost up to $250, depending on the complexity. However, I was promptly billed the full $250 as soon as the computer was picked up--before any work had even been done. This felt unusual and concerning, as I typically expect to be billed after the diagnosis or repair work is completed. One major issue was the tech's recommendation to replace my CPU heatsink, which has no moving parts and was in perfect condition. His justification was that "missing clips" would make mounting new fans impossible, and that a new heatsink would include the necessary clips. But buying replacement clips costs just $4 on Amazon--or free from the manufacturer if I provided proof of purchase for new fans. Suggesting I spend $130 on a new heatsink instead of offering a much cheaper and simpler solution is unacceptable. When the PC was returned, the heatsink was in a grocery bag, which he claimed was for my "convenience." This actually made reassembly more inconvenient, as I then had to reinstall it myself. He offered to put it back, but he didn't have thermal paste on hand--a critical component. Installing a heatsink without thermal paste could destroy the CPU. If I hadn't known better, I might have let him do it, which would have caused irreparable damage. The tech also claimed to have worked on the PC for three days, but text messages show the main issue was resolved within hours. Beyond that, he unnecessarily removed parts, suggested replacing components that didn't need it, and generally made the situation more complicated than it needed to be. After this experience, I simply don't trust this company. While pick-up and delivery were convenient, the overall service left me disappointed.

I dropped off the hard drive and was told that I would get a call in a few days with a diagnosis. There are signs everywhere that there is a diagnostic fee of $59. If you get the work done, the diagnostic fee is applied to the price of the work. After a week of waiting I called to get a status. I called on a Saturday and was told to call Monday to speak to the tech. I called backkn Monday and was told the drive was too damaged for any data to be extracted. I paid the $59 fee. See snapshot from my bank statement. I threw away the receipt. I then continued looking and found a place to ship it to, free of charge. They received it and immediately contacted me back that they are able to recover data, maybe not all but guaranteed recovery. That is in the works as I write this review. This is why I didn't write the review sooner because now I know for a fact that they gave me wrong information. I would be totally fine and cool with paying a disgnostic fee to get a diagnosis. This place didn't give me that. For all I know they may not have done anything. They said the drive qould not work with any of their software. I qould be totally okay with them being honest and telling me this is what is wrong, you need these parts and it will cost this much and we do not do it. It is obvious they do not have the expertise or equiment to do data recovery unless it is simple but if that was the case I could have done it. In any event, I do not feel that this business is ethical when they charge you to tell you something can't be salvaged when I now know it can be. I am upset and sharing this so it doesn't happen to you.

Manager on duty was very kind and helpful, and they had a small supply of in stock available equipment ready for purchase for business users. I would definitely feel more comfortable bringing them my hardware for computers repairs than someone like think geek or the geek squad.
