When it comes to authentic east coast subs and Philly cheese-steaks in Austin this is as close as it gets without a TSA pat-down. I had the Gourmet Italian done "Tucci's Way," and wasn't sure I would be able to finish such a huge sandwich stuffed with Boar's Head meats on fresh baked bread -- of course, I did. Just fantastic. My wife requested an Italian sub after she gave birth to our second son. So I pounded the pavement trying to find the best option here in Austin. A lot of places had some weird ideas about what goes on an Italian hoagie (pepperoni? Wtf?). Not Tucci's. Their high end Italian sandwich has great prosciutto, salami, and cappicola. They've got hot peppers, but they don't fall in the trap of featuring those on every sandwich. Get the damn sweethots, ok? Get it Tucci's way, which apart from the garlic mayo (which is delicious and compliments their meats), is how hoagies should be served. They also know how to make the sandwich so that it can be filled to the gills with deliciousness but doesn't fall apart, which is fairly new concept to me and apparently just about every sandwich place out there. Service is fantastic and the employees seem to like their jobs, which makes for the best kind of experience. Probably can't come back more than a couple times a month, but Tucci's is my new go-to sandwich shop in Austin. read more

So freakin' good... I am a vegetarian, but me and my carnivorous co-worker eat here every week. The food is fresh and the price is good. The eggplant is made from FRESH eggplant. The jalapenos are spicy! The sandwich is messy! You can't go wrong with this place. read more

We tried this place last weekend. I ordered a meatball sandwich and my wife ordered an Italian. The sandwiches were very good. I would recommend both to anyone. The reason they were given three stars was because of disorganization. I ordered right when I came in, but then I watched as the cashier went back to help cook. No one was at the front counter for at least 10 minutes while people waited in line. It took at least 20 minutes for me to get our sandwiches. If they can get their service cleaned-up I think this could be a really good sandwich shop. read more

If you want a real submarine/hoagie/hero sandwich this place has them. I've dined here twice and both time the food was good and the employees were friendly. As a vegetarian, I also appreciate that they have several non-meat options (and none of them are red roasted pepper sandwiches, which restaurants seem to think vegetarians love--we don't.) I'm only giving them 3 stars though, because the last time I was there I ordered a specialty sandwich with Provolone cheese, and I asked if I could have Swiss instead. I was told I could have Swiss for 25 cents a slice. Since my sandwich is custom made after I order it, this policy seems ridiculous to me. I was welcome to choose my choice of peppers, but not cheese. For the high price of these sandwiches, I expect to be able to switch out equally priced items. I don't think I will be returning for this reason--Subway doesn't taste as good but at least I can choose whatever cheese I want there without getting charged by the slice. read more

Ok, let's talk about location real quick. Don't be scared. It's in one of those shopping centers that you look at and think "how do stores survive?" Also, when I used my iPhone navigation, it took me to the wrong place. I think it was confused with all the road construction happening in the area. Ok, on to my thoughts about lunch today.... This was the first time I've tried an Italian sausage sub. And I think I love them! It was made fresh and hot in front of me. Everyone there was super chill too. Very helpful to this out of towner. Fantastic! Didn't realize this place was here until my wife pointed it out, but have been several times now that I know. The sandwiches I have tried are delicious! As well as I am impressed by their display of Zapps chips. I had no idea there were that many flavors of them, but they have got almost everyone available for purchase! I will agree with some other comments that the interior design of the place is pretty lacking, not a huge deal but something to consider on their part. It would be a better experience to have a little nicer looking venue. But the sandwiches are great and the staff is friendly, so they have earned my business! read more

I believe this sub is made in the Delaware style, I assume that means the meats are placed onto the sandwich last, as far as assembly goes that is the only difference I can find with this sub compared to others that I have eaten. My only nit picky point is that the tomatoes weren't uniformly sliced. The sandwich is very good and if your an east coast transplant Tuccis' won't disappoint. read more

This is my favorite sandwich/sub place in Austin...It is a bit of a drive for me, and I hate the traffic at the "Y", but for these subs, its worth it. 14 bucks for a sub???? Just tried this place for the first time and I really like what I had. I tried the Tucci's Turkey sub on wheat bread with all the fixens and was probably one best out there. Like they advertise Boars Head meats are always great. The spinach was fresh, tomatoes and peppers along with the garlic mayo paired perfectly. The only reason they get 4 stars from me, is because they are higher priced than I wanted it to be. But you have to remember when you go in to HEB, Boars head is not cheap. My review of Tucci's is overdue. Only because I'm rarely compelled to publicly announce my satisfaction or displeasure with any establishment. Tucci's holds a special place in my heart. I hail from the northeast where good delicatessen is a staple necessity. I've lived in a number of places since, and I typically find that a good Boar's Head sandwich is hard to come by. Tucci's has filled this void in my life. I eat there twice a week and that's saying a lot. Try the Gourmet or classic Italian, my new favorite is the navel pastrami. delicious. read more

I really wanted to write a good review but just can't. The issue was how the sandwich was made. Maybe I had a new or inexperienced employee, but how he assembled the sandwich just made it a mess. Might have been okay with that if it hadn't then been drenched with oil and vinegar. Those are best utilized lightly. By the time I got to the sandwich it had soaked through the bread and it was the only thing I could take. Not sure I would go back to give them another try. read more

Been coming here for over ten years and I find the comparisons of some reviews to Subway absolutely hilarious and ridiculous. Tuccis is locally owned and it is a pleasure to go in and talk to the owner who wants your feedback good and bad. Word of advice, first go in and have a sandwich the way THEY recommend rather than customizing it. You may be surprised. They will make any sandwich into a salad and those turn out well too. This is your neighborhood sandy shop...go there cause its good not cause we tell you to. My boyfriend and I both got Philly Cheesesteaks. He got the Jalepeneo Philly with everything on it (mushrooms and onions) and mine with just meat and cheese (with extra meat). Delicious!
