We visited early one afternoon, and Tuckers was fairly empty; however, service was slow and seemed hit or miss. Soft drinks were slow to be refilled, used dinnerware wasn't picked up even after the table was visited a few times with the server's hands empty. Soda was served with the proper amount of ice, but it was warm and flat when it arrived at the table. I had the Breaded Pork Tenderloin which was pounded so flat that it extended about 1/2" on all around the bun and was so thin that the breading was almost of thick as the meat. It resembled something out of a 1950s flying saucer movie. The pork was dry and lacked flavor, the bun was nicely toasted yet it was overall dry and crunchy. The bun was so thick compared to the meat that it overpowered any flavor the pork might have had. The provided mayonnaise was not capable of bringing water to this sandwich desert. Two full slices of onion were overkill, and the lettuce was rather sad looking. Overall, it was a complete waste of money. read more

This past Wednesday, my wife, parents and I dined in for Tucker's late night happy hour. Having moved away from the Chesterfield area, my family rarely gets a chance to go. Well this visit was like nothing had changed, the atmosphere was the classic tuckers vibe. The cheddar ball cheeseburger and pizza are still amazing. We ordered onion rings this time and they were fried perfectly golden brown with a nice crunch. The servers here are very attentive even with the place being slammed with people. My Dad took me to Tuckers when I was 15 and I've been going ever since. I'll never forget it because he was upset because I ordered a burger instead of a steak! Well in my older years now I only get the steak. It is so consistent and perfect I just can't order anything else. They have a decent bar I suppose but I don't drink but the stools are always filled. Tuckers is my favorite place to go to grab a great steak! They also make an amazing porch chop and their haddock is so good. The service is always great even when it's during their busy times. You always get a cozy feel when you are at your table. It's like walking in to your family's for dinner. If it's warm out, try out sitting on the patio. It's a nice patio area. I've been going to Tucker's for decades now, and I've almost always loved the food and the atmosphere. With the soft lighting, rich wood paneling, and warm brick the dining room and bar has the feel of a classic pub, and during the winter the fireplaces are especially nice. At the end of July, 2022 I visited again for the first time since the pandemic. I found it to be even better than a few years ago, with excellent fried zucchini and a tasty hot turkey sandwich. Good things: salad and house dressing is very tasty, out waiter was super nice. Not good: someone in our party asked for a medium well burger and it came out medium rare. I under stand things happen. Here's what I don't like. The burger was sent back to get a medium well burger. The same burger came out, cooked more but with half of it missing. Gross. Is it even allowed by the health dept to take food back and then cook it more? Also another burger in our group was not cooked medium well but we lived with it since it wasn't as uncooked as the other. Won't be going back. Came in about 5:15 on a Friday. We were seated outside immediately. The inside was loud but outside was quieter. Server brought us toasted ravioli. The dough was thick but it was delicious. Ordered steaks, medium rare. Had to wait 45 minutes for them. Server made excuse of their printer not printing out all of the tickets. Steaks were rare, as if they were thrown on the grill and slathered in sauce, then served. It was cooked on one side! Got a manager (Jule) who was very snarky, told me the printer missed 8 orders and said "it is what it is". I asked her why it took so long. Extremely affordable steakhouse in a very cool setting that resembles an old fashion brick house, with wooden chairs and tables. Have small indoor and outdoor bars, however no one was working at the outdoor bar when I went. Also have an outdoor patio, but the only portion that is covered is the bar. Great fresh & soft complimentary bread, but I had to ask for it. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries (have to order fries separately) and it was only around 10$. Cheese on the burger was butter-like in consistency, but tasted great. Burger was huge and cooked perfectly. It only came with lettuce, onion, and pickles though. One of my favorite burgers in STL. Drinks come out and the very slightly dirty martini is more like salt water, second try is much better. Ordered a salad no egg or onion. Comes out tasting like onions and half-way through discovered egg yoke crumbles. So they served a pre-made salad and removed the onions and part of the egg. Didn't eat any more of that dish. For the main course a strip and baked potato, not bad. The potato was great and the medium rare steak was rare. I say not bad because for me under cooked is better then over cooked. My brother sent his back. Not sure why I hadn't given up at this point, but coffee was ordered after dinner. What shows up half a cup, at best, of old coffee. Must have been all that was left in the pot. I am a regular at the Soulard Tuckers with not complaints. Very different vibe at the West County location.
