I mean, if you haven't been, you definitely need to go. The steaks are amazing, very reasonably priced and the service is excellent. The only tricky part is the wait, which it is worth! No reservations are excepted but it moves fairly quick. We went this evening for birthday dinners and got there before they opened. I love Tuckers! The food is always consistently good! Mom took the 30 minute drives and popped in for a bite to eat on Saturday evening. I suppose we showed up during the peak time as our wait time ended up being an hour long. No worries, though! It happens, and that simply means that the restaurant is doing what they need to do as a way to service their customers successfully. The only downside outside of the wait was the fact that the young lady covering the bar area NEVER thought to ask us if we wanted or needed anything. Not one time! Maybe the masks threw her off, and she thought that would bite! Wink! Wink! Nevertheless, I will continue to support the restaurant! We had wings and a salad as an appetizer. For our entrees, we indulged in a Tucker Burger with fries and a Bone-in Ribeye, and a loaded baked potato. The staff was highly attentive, refilling our drinks and asking if we needed anything. Had dinner for my Dad's birthday here a few weeks ago and really liked the atmosphere. Has a really nice patio and when you stop in- the waiting room is expansive and you can order a drink. We had a group of 7 and they don't take reservations, so we waited for about 45 mins - 1 hour to get a table. The inside is pretty dark but they have a good amount of seating and the patio is huge too. Once we were seated we immediately got served and put our orders in- the service was great. Our waitress was hilarious- we told her it was my dads birthday and she said "well we dont do anything fancy, but happy birthday" - he was thrilled to hear that considering I've taken him to Texas Roadhouse before for birthdays and you know how that goes. The menu is relatively simple- prices are great, food is good and comes with big portions. They serve dinner rolls beforehand that are pretty decent. My boyfriend got the 10 oz sirloin which comes with a baked potato- you can load it or put butter and sour cream with it. Loading it is a bit extra. I had the grilled tilapia cajun style with fresh veggies. Probably wasnt the best idea to get fish at a steak house but I did anyway- the tilapia was cooked well but didnt taste much like cajun at all. The veggies on the other hand were out of this world fresh- best I've had at a steakhouse. My boyfriend loved the steak and the potato. Everything is pretty simple but it was quick, delicious, and cheap. Overall, Tucker's Place is a nice local steakhouse similar to Texas Roadhouse in menu and prices. The food was OK. I had a fish sandwich which was just OK. My dining partner had shrimp. He said it was just OK. But the service sucked. We ate in the bar area and the server was slow and had an attitude. I'm going to order different and make sure that we don't get that same server IF we ever go back. There are plenty of places to get the same things on their menu. The 16 year old girls who run the hostess stand were not interested in going out of their way to assist. We love how this place is always bustling with customers, even on the Tuesday night we stopped in. They've been a little short staffed lately but the servers really hustle; service doesn't seem to suffer. This time, I got the Chicken Tender Salad. As you'll notice, the menu is pretty predictable, but it's consistently good. Their ranch dressing is great; dressing always makes or breaks the salad. My husband is a big fan of their burgers. Tucker's is fine, the steak was cooked well. I don't like that they put their steak sauce on basically every beef item, I got my filet without, but they also chargrill it so the crust tasted burnt to me. If places like Flemings, Twisted Tree, and Ruths Chris are your thing then this is not your place. The baked potato gets a lot of praise here and I think people in Missouri just like baked potatoes, it was a standard large russet baked potato with cheese and bacon. The prices here are very fair, and I think that's overall why they get a lot of praise and return customers. I eat at Tucker's every 2-3 weeks. Best steak deal in St. Louis. And judging by their weekend crowd, others must agree. I usually order the strip steak. About every third time I order the pork chop. I like how their steaks turn out with that char on the outside. What Tucker's calls their steak "sauce" I call a marinade. Made to be cooked with their steaks as they do. I like my steaks medium-well (I know, but I'm a cowboy and like my steaks cooked LOL) which is usually the most difficult to cook even with a thick cut of meat. But my steaks always come out perfect. And love that lemon-pepper salad dressing. Tried their pizza. Now I know why they sell so much of it. LOL Last trip, finally tried their salmon. WOW !! Even better than expected. Char-grilled perfectly. Great flavor drenched with fresh lemon over the top. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity. WARNING !! They don't take reservations. Still disappointing. Not the Tucker's it used to be. Steak was cooked as requested but if it wasn't for the Tucker sauce it would have been tasteless. Steak needed to be seasoned with some salt and pepper to bring out the flavor. Tucker sauce was also very skimpy. Needed more. Meat a little on the tough side as well. Salad was very good as usual. Had lunch about a month ago at Tuckers (Manchester). Food was excellent and service great! We both did order a steak (and brought home enough food for another meal for each!). Portions are very generous and we didn't even have to wait for a table. Place was packed at 11:15 a.m. We will certainly be returning for lunch again, and share next time. read more

Disappointing. Medium burger was well done but even worse, the outside was burnt to the point where it was actually crunchy. Bone in ribeye quality is similar to a diner steak and eggs breakfast - thin and somewhat chewy. Ordered medium rare, the flavor of the steak was overpowered by the intense char and burnt sugar flavor from the sauce (pro tip - sauce your meat at the end of cooking, sugar burns. Extra pro tip - your steak should be so delicious it should stand on its own with just salt and pepper). I was stoked about the (up-charged) loaded baked potato! Except it had just a couple shreds of sad cheddar cheese, not enough to taste. The rest of the potato was good. The salad was decent and while the menu stated the dressings are house made, the ranch was most definitely not. Overall, dinner was a bummer. But I would give it a second chance because Tucker's has a really good reputation. read more

I'm conflicted on how to rate this place. But ultimately I have to go with three stars instead of four. It was good, but not great, and there are too many steakhouses I'd call great to compete against. Tucker's is an institution and fills up way early. I grabbed a sport jacket to wear, not realizing that my wearing long pants and a collared shirt already made me overdressed. Having said that, though, we had really good, quality steaks grilled up in their signature sauce. Potato, salad, and rolls were typical & old school. If you want consistently great steaks at a reasonable price, dine at Tuckers. Their incredible baked potato is a one pound specimen and even though I ask each time, they won't tell me where it is grown. Their Filet is on par with the finest steak houses at half the price. Their 20oz!! pork chop is done perfectly. How does one cook such a large piece of meat without burning it. Yummy rolls and a free fresh and crunchy salad are included. Not quite the charmer of their Soulard location, Tucker's Place is still a very comfortable steakhouse, unpretentious and reasonably priced, on busy Manchester Avenue just off the 141. The servers are courteous and efficient, and the bartenders know their way around a good cocktail. My wife and I love the house lemon salad dressing, unique to Tucker's. Our steaks have always been cooked to the exact doneness requested. We love Tucker's!! read more

Tucker's Place is a great steakhouse. It's also a great restaurant to celebrate special occasions. A group of us Yelpers came here to celebrate the retirement and farewell of fellow Yelper, Paul K.. We're all going to miss him and this was one of his favorite restaurants in STL. I've always been a fan of the Soulard location and now I can see why Paul has been a fan of this West County location. As per my usual behavior, I arrived early. I hate arriving to any event or occasion late. I made myself comfortable at the end of the bar. The bartender was friendly and greeted my promptly. I requested an Old Fashioned and enjoyed it as I waited for my other friends to arrive. It takes a true talent to make a good OF, this bartender fell short. I was not that impressed. When I got seated at our table, I ordered a Manhattan and she made it much, better. Several of us bought various appetizers for sharing. Being a fan of chicken wings, I treated everyone to two orders. They were fried and tossed in a mild buffalo sauce. I was glad they weren't too hot, so everyone got to enjoy. My meal of the night was a 10 oz Sirloin. It came with a house salad, I always choose their house dressing. I love it, in fact I buy at the grocery store and have a bottle in my refrigerator at all times. I wanted veggies as my side, but was brought a plain baked potato. Our waiter was doing a decent job for the size of our party, so I just went with the flow. I've always enjoyed their potatoes, crisp skins and the inside is so fluffy. All I need to add is butter, a shake or two of salt and freshly ground black pepper and it's seasoned perfectly. The sirloin was grilled to my specifications, medium-rare. It wasn't overly seasoned, so I got to enjoy the true flavor of the beef. It's not the prime steak that you'd find at a true upscale steakhouse, but for $15.95 it is a great value. Would I return? We were able to snag a table in the bar area, after being told our wait would be 30 minutes. Our server was working very hard as the place was very crowded. Our food came out in a timely manner and was so awesome. My steak had the absolute perfect amount of char on the outside and perfect medium rare on the inside.
