I tried Tracy. She is pretty good, except for the part where she screwed up and got all mad and blamed on me. Oh well. The price is pretty much the same as the price here in San Fernando Valley. I am a very picky customer because in Brasil, the nail salons do so much better job, but I am not in Brasil so I'll just have to settle with the salons here, right? I can do the nails in the way I want, but I am just too lazy and takes too long. I treat myself every now and then. As for going back or not, I will not bother to go back there because there are other ones in Encino/Tarzana area that are just as good. read more

I have been to a few places in Burbank and I have never been quite as happy as I do whenever I come to Tulip. They have always been nice to me and I have not had any complaints or issues with them. I liked the environment and the staff is really friendly, but my French Gel manicure was not great (there are white spots below the tip line and it is uneven) and my toenail polish was completely bumpy. I was here on 06/04/2009 for a fill and eyebrow wax, and am mixed about the place. The parking lot is tiny, but there's street parking available. The inside of the salon is roomy, very easy to move around, which is nice so you're not stacked on top of other patrons like I've experienced at other salons. The prices are good, but I'm not sold on the service. The manicurist abraded the skin around several of my nails while prepping them for a fill. The pedicurist painted little flowers on my big toes without asking me first. I think they're cute, but that's not the point. I do like the results of the eyebrow wax. Three things that will prevent me from EVER going back again: (1) it doesn't appear that the tools are sanitized in an autoclave, although the tools appear clean and aren't strewn about each station (2) there was a man SELLING FRUIT inside the salon. Not only is it annoying to have someone ask you if you want to buy blueberries while you're getting your nails done, but the pedicurist got up in the middle of the pedicure and bought some fruit and stashed it behind her station. I'm not 100% sure, but that has to violate some ordinance set forth by the CA State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology (here's the website if anyone's interested: http://www.barbercosmo.ca.gov/) (3) for the eyebrow wax, you are taken to a private room (which is a plus), but you lay back in a chair that is covered with a dirty-looking sheet. I'm not sure if they do any Brazilian waxing, but the thought of laying on a sheet with someone else's wax and pubes is disgusting. Bonnie is the ONLY woman I trust with my acrylics! Even when I moved away, I would schedule visits home as often as I could around the time I needed a fill. Been going to her twice a month for over a year and recommended so many people that all love her & the other ladies. I'm very particular about my acrylics, I like long, square, curved in pink & whites and she does it perfectly! I'm always in & out in less than 45 minutes - no matter what kind of extravagant glitter powder or design I ask for! Last week I made the mistake of getting a full set at a random nail place because tulip was already closed for the day and I was desperate - but I'll be seeing Bonnie this week to fix their mistakes! All of the women here are so sweet & it's definitely worth a trip over here. I was just there to find out who left their two little dogs in a hot car. I had just taken the 90 year old woman I care for to the next door hair salon and she heard barking. The woman whose car it was just blew me off. The lady I care for had me get her walker out of the back of the car and help her onto her feet and she marched in and confronted the woman. Surprisingly people were horrified, not at the woman's behavior and her lack of givingashitness, nor the way she spoke to an elderly person, but at the 90 YEAR OLD having the stones to come in and say something. As we were leaving the owner came out and said some horrible things the lady I care for, so I said "so the fact that two babies and two puppies were found in hot cars last week does not matter to you." Her reply was to shoot us 2 BIRDS! I wonder how many people passed those kids and puppies in those hot cars before the good Samaritans stepped up. So I cannot vouch for their work, but their attitude in the salon was crap and not a place I would want to hang out. read more

I love yelp, and I found a manicure/pedicure place in Santa Monica that I love thru yelp. I was at my sis' in Burbank, and went thru yelp to find a salon near her. I went to Helen. It looked like she was doing a great job on the pedicure, so I was pretty happy. But then with my manicure, she did a horrible job shaping my nails, and even after I asked her to re-shape it a little, she didn't do a good job. I had to run to a beauty supply place to buy a file right after. My cuticles looked horrible, and the worst thing is that my polish is already chipping after 3 days! It was only $21, so maybe you get what you pay for? I'll stick with my place in Santa Monica! read more

I wish I could of gotten the name of the women who did my nails cause I was extremely disappointed with my manicure. I asked her how long she's been doing nails, she bragged that it's been too long and she has a following of clientele in Burbank. I felt I was in good hands with all the experience she has. I asked for a French gel manicure. The lines weren't straight at all and the file job was horrible. I noticed a bubble so I asked her to fix it. Which she kinda did. As the week progressed, two days later the side of my middle finger was throbbing when I was in bed. The next day I noticed pus coming out of the side of my finger. My finger still hurts now. To top it off the gel on my nails have already peeled off and it's been less than a week. I went to my original nail lady at another nail shop and she had to cut the skin from every finger cause the last lady didn't even completely cut it and I had redo my manicure which I had to spend more money on. This was so disappointing and I really wanted to like this place but with this experience I won't be coming back or recommending anyone. I've never had such experience where pus is coming out. What did she do for that to happen. I don't know. I just wish she didn't brag so much about her work cause it did not show for itself. Everyone does a really good job here. There are tons of nail polish colors to choose from. I usually just get mani/pedi's but have done gel (which always lasts about 2 weeks). I always make an appointment but have brought friends in last minute and it takes a little while but they have been able to squeeze them in. Either way I recommend making an appointment. They have really good prices too! And lots of parking! read more

This was definitely not the best manicure or pedicure in Burbank. Cheap, yes ($21 for both). It's a roomy place - I'll give it that. When I was instructed to "pick out a color" I went for the polish rack that looks like any other nail salon's rack of polishes... with OPI brand and Esse.. I was told that was the "polish for sale" rack and directed across the room to what amounted to a couple of desk size trays full of polish... completely disorganized trays of polish. I tend to be a natural or light-colored polish kind of girl... they had 2 of these types of colors - if even that much. Every other polish looked like it had been plucked out of my 10 year old niece's "hand-me-down makeup" stash. For the pedicure - they use a small plastic foot tub lined with a plastic bag - kind of a gross feeling on the feet - water and plastic bags... The manicure and pedicure were so-so. The manicurist left roughtedges on the nails after being filed. She also scrubbed my feet (callouses) for all of 2 seconds. I won't be wasting my lunch hour here again. I'd rather pay $10 extra and get a quality manicure/pedicure. read more

I've been to many nail salons, but none of them have the same quality as Tulip. I don't know what the heck Y from Burbank, Keena from TX, and Alex from Burbank are talking about. I've been going to tulip for years. I even moved out of town and I still go there (70miles). I have never seen it the way they are describing it. Of course you will have to see some nail dust flying around it's a NAIL SALON, but they are always sweeping and dusting around the counter tops and floors. These people are one timers and of course they will never be back, because they are probably rude and expect more for what they are paying. If you want to get pampered and get ripped off go to Beverly Hills. I've been to other salons and none of them compare to Tulip, and I too was a one timer and found many flaws just so i wouldn't go back. This is the best place in all of LA county. My sister, mother, daughters and friends go there, and they have never complained. You don't need an appointment but i would recommend it. you can also park across the street in a parking lot if you don't want to park on the street. read more
