Tulum Mexican Restaurant Rating: I recently visited Tulum Mexican Restaurant in San Jose and had a mixed experience. The food, when it finally arrived, was quite good. I particularly enjoyed the flavors and presentation. However, the service left much to be desired. After our table was given, the server never greet us. Just the host took out drink order, when server finally showed up, she did not wrote down our order just listened to the items we ordered and left. Our server forgot to place the order for my calamari, which was very disappointing. Additionally, the overall wait time for our food was excessively long, which made the dining experience less enjoyable. The server seemed inexperienced and in need of improvement to better handle the orders and customer service. While the food quality is commendable, the service issues need to be addressed for a more pleasant dining experience. I hope the management takes note and works on improving the service aspect. read more

We waited an hour an a half to get seated when we were told the wait time was 40min, annoying but I was just hoping that the food was worth it. We were seated at the upstairs portion which is really humid and there are no fans or AC. Server greeted another table first even though they got there after us and we probably waiting another 10-15min until we just flagged down a server to help us. We ordered the mini flautas which were literally 2 regular sized flautas cut in half and stuck in guac which had no tomato, onion and cilantro even though that was advertised on the menu. We also ordered asada fries with the sour cream on the side, but it never came. The asada wasn't even asada it was medium rare steak & there was no pico de gallo on the dish even though it was advertised on the menu. They need more staff, servers seemed stressed. I went to this restaurant with my family to celebrate my college graduation, but the experience was incredibly disappointing. While waiting for our food, I opened the ketchup bottle on the table, and it exploded everywhere because it was expired. My white graduation dress was completely stained, as well as some of my family members' clothes. I expected better customer service and attention to basic restaurant standards, like ensuring condiments are fresh. I understand things like these can happen but I've seen how other places actually make an effort to make up for the inconvenience. He was very attentive, knowledgeable with the dishes and gave his recommendations. It was our first time visiting so I had many questions and he answered every one! We ordered the Molcajete, Cafe de la olla was a game changer for me! The Queso Fundido with Chorizo was a different style then what I have tried. I'm not an arroz con leche person but this was very good and had just the perfect amount of sweetness. The chicken tinga sopes were good. The prices were reasonable for the amount served. Amazing delicious authentic Mexican breakfast! Me and my friend came here for the first time for breakfast. We enjoyed the atmosphere early in the morning. Great vibes with the Mexican music and terrific service from Sebastian! We ordered cafe de olla and bomb. It was served in traditional Mexican pottery which was all the vibes. I ordered the poblano pepper omelette with shredded beef and it was bomb!! My friend ordered the chilequiles green sauce and it was so good! Spicy but not too spicy! Pretty good but pricey for Mexican food, generally you can get really good Mexican for in our area for much less. Staff were ok, I didn't find them overly nice like other reviews stated. Restaurant is cute and clean. Drinks came quick however they got them wrong but quickly fixed them. We ordered guacamole with chips and salsa it was good.
