    Torta de Asada

Another delicious meal from Tortas GDL. What can I say...... the asada is ribeye and grilled to order. Nothing sits around for reheating - it's all freshly made for you to enjoy. Our solid favorite items are the Torta de Carnitas and Tacos de Asada. The way the Torta is prepared is a bit different. I'm pretty used to the soft supple bread. But they use a different bread and toast it so you've got crunch. Carnitas are on point - they are delicious and never greasy. As for the tacos. Like I said the ribeye asada is grilled to order. Enough said. The salsa options are great and truly range from mild to HOT! Don't forget the new cafe next door!

Among tortas.....this spot reigns supreme. This is not your traditional torta....the usual flimsy bread that falls apart under the weight of its fillings. This is a level up - warm crispy outside and soft + fluffy in the middle so you KNOW it's baked in-house. GDL doesn't short you on the filling either - be it carne asada, birria or my favorite - the decadent green chilaquiles breakfast torta, there are no bad choices. This is comfort food at its best - get ready for a nap after. The restaurant is small, bit it's clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. The menu also has traditional, Mexican fare as well as a wide variety of specialty drinks. If you're in the south Bay you owe it to yourself to try Tortas GDL y Mas.

Step into a shop that transports you to a different country. That's what it feel like when eating at this small but mighty restaurant. We ordered a torta ahogada (wet torta) & chilaquiles. I enjoyed the food. The meet didn't have much fat which is always plus for me. The chilaquiles had the perfect spice. Prices were fair. Only thing that I felt was a bit overpriced was the fresh squeezed orange juice. The cups used are the type your aunt would give you if she was feeding you while you visit her in Mexico. Employees were friendly.

I ordered a chorizo and egg breakfast burrito to go. I picked up my order and took it to work to eat it, when I opened the plastic bag it was soaked with oil. Everything was soaked in oil, I opened the foil where my burrito was and it was soaked in oil I couldnt eat it. I called them and the lady who answered said she was the manager and they had a new cook (thats not an excuse) to bring back the burrito and they would make me a new one I work in Santa Clara and this place is far. I will include of picture of the disgusting burrito. Never again.

Don't sleep on this place! I ordered a torta ahogada and it was amazing. The portions are generous, and the prices feel fair. Highly recommend this spot if you're craving authentic Mexican tortas and a friendly, casual vibe.

When I miss home and I want food to transport me to Guadalajara this is the spot to hit up. The parking honestly sucks, the plaza is small and it gets complicated especially during lunch time. Call and order ahead to save time. Everything is made from scratch so it takes a while but their cafe de olla is something I dream of. They add milk but man it's so good! Jericallas are also done right , not eggy but vanilla and creamy. The tortas are of course so good because the salsa is amazing. Torta de pierna should be a go to for you, also tacos dorados con carne, get that extra sauce and plenty of napkins, you'll need it. Place is super tiny inside and it's a Fonda so plastic seating all around. Small business but they pour their hearts into it and it shows.

Aa chilaquiles fan, when I saw that they have torta de chilaquiles I didn't doubt a sec to ordered it, and let me tell you, it was BOMB! the flavor was amazing, the egg yolk was on point, and to top it off, the costumer service was outstanding! I give this place a 20/10. I would definitely be back!!!

I been to Jalisco and their torta aguada is beyond good! The meat in the torta is packed with flavor ! The bread is nice and crunchy so the its never soggy ! The place is a little small but it reminds me of the small joints in Mexico ! Customer service is good! Owner checked up on us and they provided us with with fast service Overall would definitely come again !

This place has become a family favorite! If you haven't tried a torta ahogada before, you're in for a treat!! I recommend the torta ahogada with the sauce on the side. I prefer it on the side so you can pour it every time you take a bite, with a squeeze of lime, of course. If you don't finish the whole torta, having the sauce on the side will keep the bread from getting soggy when you finish it later on. Service is always quick and kind! There is seating inside that is always clean and in great condition. There are plenty of other delicious plates to try and menudo on the weekends!

Was told about this place by a friend. Had to try the torta Ahogada, I mean the place is basically named after it.The bread is more is a stale French roll which pairs perfectly with the sauce as it soaks it up for every bite. All the flavor is in the sauce, and it does not disappoint. The texture of the bread and meat is wonderful with the sauce, lemon juice and pickled onions. I was served by Eduardo who was extremely friendly and provided excellent service. Music was nice. Will return.

Food and Service were excellent! Food came out in 10 minutes. Best torta I've ever eaten. I will recommend new people to order the torta ahogada with the sauce on the side. Torta bread can get soft really quickly since it is served on a bed of sauce. I finished the Torta rather quickly so the bread didn't get soggy. I believe one of these can feed two people. The crispy tacos ahoga were great as well as the shells didn't get too soft. Definitely will revisit this spot when nearby.

I would suggest that the serve mention that when taking orders so we know. Just because it's at the very bottom of the menu I didn't notice it until I asked for a dessert menu. The food was so good! We had Mexican jambalaya, Carne asada plate, tacos Dorado, enchiladas with both sauces, parillada, enfrioladas (bean enchiladas) tacos de pescado, Don julio flight, multiple drinks and churros. The churros were really good although we wish there was a non filled ones too and to have the optionof if we wanted it dressed up because churros are already super sweet with the cinnamonand sugar dusted but caramel and whip cream was added along with a strawberry filling. We also ordered a tres leches cake but we didn't like the tres leches cake, it was too sweet, so sweet that we couldn't taste the filling which we assume was pineapple lol the color was yellow with pieces of fruit but we couldn't taste it. Overall the service was great and quick. I would definitely come back here.

Plenty of parking available since the restaurant is in a strip mall. It wasn't too busy when we got there, but then it started picking up. There was only one server working and she was really hustling to meet everyone's needs. Plus, she was friendly. I had the carne asada burrito, it was good but nothing over the top that made it stand out. My friend had enchiladas with mole. We were most excited about dessert and decided to share the churros and Tres leches. It was a nice touch that the churros and Tres leches did not come plain, a little pizzazz since they were both served with berries, whipped cream, and a cajeta style sauce. Both of the desserts were so good and a perfect touch of sweetness.

We waited 1.5 hours to be seated while half the restaurant sat empty. After we were seated, it took about 30 minutes for anyone to ask if we wanted drinks, another 30 minutes before our order was taken, and then an hour for the food to arrive. Throughout the wait, several servers were gathered in the corner talking and laughing while tables--including ours--were left unattended. Unfortunately, the food didn't make up for the service. The meat was dry, lacked flavor, and the shrimp was so chewy that I couldn't finish it. It was honestly one of the worst shrimp dishes I've ever been served. I've seen countless influencers giving this place glowing reviews, and after eating here, I simply don't believe them. My experience was the complete opposite. If you appreciate good food and good service, I would strongly recommend spending your money somewhere else.

FOOD: Food is usually great. I remember them being better when they first opened, but maybe today was an off day? CHIPS & GUAC (4/5) - Chips came out hot and glistening, so I assume they are freshly made. The guacamole was good, but it lacked depth. It was creamy, not spicy, and salsa costs extra. I personally like it without salsa, but I can see this turning people off. LAMB QUESABIRRIA (3.7/5) - Consommé felt a little flat. I personally have had better consommé tbat was richer in flavor. It came out piping hot. Overall, it was good but given the price and flavor I wouldn't get it again. COD TACOS (4/5) - Again, portions are on the smaller side.
