I missed their Tortas de Asada that I could order via UberEats. Their breakfast tortas are reallty good.

Amidst the multitude of Mexican restaurants in the neighborhood, I'm glad I stumbled upon this hidden gem. There are only two designated parking spots, while the surrounding storefronts have plenty available. The menu consists of a handful of all day breakfast items, burritos, tacos with a few protein options, and several tostadas. There was also a hidden café menu displayed off to the side that wasn't promoted or available through takeout apps. Everything is made fresh to order, so even a single burrito may take 10 to 15 minutes to prepare. *Tiramisu Latte: a tad sweet but wonderfully robust, almost reminiscent of Vietnamese coffee. The highlight was the slice of tiramisu perched on top. Who needs a cream top when you can have mascarpone and espresso instead? *Carne Asada Burrito: filled with your choice of protein, beans, Mexican rice, and cheese, all wrapped in a pillowy tortilla. The tortillas here are incredibly fluffy with the perfect amount of char. The carne asada had a clean, beefy flavor with a satisfying chew. Both the beans and Mexican rice were thoughtfully prepared and contributed plenty of savory flavor rather than simply acting as filler. Since every component leaned on the saltier side, I especially appreciated the bright salsa verde. The salsa roja was surprisingly fiery, with a kick comparable to a habanero salsa. *Chicharrón Preparado: an enormous portion served with two giant wheat chicharrones. They were impressively light and not greasy, providing a satisfying crunch against the soft, meaty pork skin. The cabbage, tomato, and red onion were crisp and fresh. The accompanying red sauce packed serious heat and had my nose running in the best way possible. The mayonnaise added a welcome creaminess that balanced the spice. Unfortunately, the container leaked into the bag during transport, so I lost some of the delicious citrusy marinade. Although I usually gravitate toward burritos loaded almost entirely with meat, Tortas GDL Y Mas reminded me how much the supporting ingredients matter. Everything I've tried has tasted fresh and carefully prepared. My only wish is that they included a little more salsa verde and salsa roja with each order. read more

I ordered the carne asada torta, and unfortunately, I can see why the reviews are mixed. The bread arrived extremely soggy and greasy, but the biggest issue was the lack of flavor. The meat was bland and looked like it had simply been cooked until light brown with no sear and very little seasoning. It did come with onions and tomatoes, but they were cooked down so much that they had almost no fresh flavor or texture left. I ended up taking the entire torta apart, seasoning and searing the meat myself, then adding my own fresh onions, tomatoes, lettuce, and avocado to give it some actual flavor and freshness. After basically having to remake it myself, I definitely wouldn't recommend the carne asada torta. It was extremely bland and disappointing. I can't speak for the rest of the menu, but based on the torta alone, I wouldn't order it again read more

Was in the area to go to Bobcat Batteries around lunch time and saw this place on the way there. Parking was a bit sketchy because almost all of the spaces are reserved for different tenants of the building. They are also sized for small cars. Anyway, I went in and ordered a torta to go. Took a few minutes as I could hear them cooking behind a big wall. You can hear the kitchen bit can't see it. Odd layout of the space. Pretty spartan dining area, which was fine since I wanted it to go. Torta was tasty and well put together. Good quality bread, more french or viet style than Mexican. Decent hot sauces provided as well. Only real gripe was that the price charged was not what was on the posted menu. read more

Another delicious meal from Tortas GDL. What can I say...... the asada is ribeye and grilled to order. Nothing sits around for reheating - it's all freshly made for you to enjoy. Our solid favorite items are the Torta de Carnitas and Tacos de Asada. The way the Torta is prepared is a bit different. I'm pretty used to the soft supple bread. But they use a different bread and toast it so you've got crunch. Carnitas are on point - they are delicious and never greasy. As for the tacos. Like I said the ribeye asada is grilled to order. Step into a shop that transports you to a different country. That's what it feel like when eating at this small but mighty restaurant. We ordered a torta ahogada (wet torta) & chilaquiles. I enjoyed the food. The meet didn't have much fat which is always plus for me. The chilaquiles had the perfect spice. Prices were fair. I got a carne asada torta and my honey got a chorizo breakfast torta (breakfast is served all day). Both were delicious, every ingredient was fresh and so tasty including the salsas. I also ordered a biscoff latte and that was so good too! They were busy so it took a bit for us to order but we only waited like 10 mins for the food to be ready. I ordered a chorizo and egg breakfast burrito to go. I picked up my order and took it to work to eat it, when I opened the plastic bag it was soaked with oil. Everything was soaked in oil, I opened the foil where my burrito was and it was soaked in oil I couldnt eat it. I called them and the lady who answered said she was the manager and they had a new cook (thats not an excuse) to bring back the burrito and they would make me a new one I work in Santa Clara and this place is far. When I miss home and I want food to transport me to Guadalajara this is the spot to hit up. The parking honestly sucks, the plaza is small and it gets complicated especially during lunch time. Call and order ahead to save time. Everything is made from scratch so it takes a while but their cafe de olla is something I dream of. They add milk but man it's so good! This place has become a family favorite! If you haven't tried a torta ahogada before, you're in for a treat!! I recommend the torta ahogada with the sauce on the side. I prefer it on the side so you can pour it every time you take a bite, with a squeeze of lime, of course. If you don't finish the whole torta, having the sauce on the side will keep the bread from getting soggy when you finish it later on. Service is always quick and kind! Was told about this place by a friend. Had to try the torta Ahogada, I mean the place is basically named after it.The bread is more is a stale French roll which pairs perfectly with the sauce as it soaks it up for every bite. All the flavor is in the sauce, and it does not disappoint. The texture of the bread and meat is wonderful with the sauce, lemon juice and pickled onions. Food and Service were excellent! Food came out in 10 minutes. Best torta I've ever eaten. I will recommend new people to order the torta ahogada with the sauce on the side. Torta bread can get soft really quickly since it is served on a bed of sauce. I finished the Torta rather quickly so the bread didn't get soggy. I believe one of these can feed two people. My best friend took me here to eat during our lunch time for work and let me tell you!!!! It's sooo freaking gooddddd!!! We had carne asada burritos. That's our go to. Also the jericaya is yummy too! So creamy. The salsa's that they serve the red and green and so damn good too! The food melts in your mouth. I even took my partner burritos here and here to eat and he loves it. If you order a torta ahogada, you must eat it there. I had to assemble the torta once I got home and while everything was packed well (sealed, no leaks), the bread was pretty tough. Not sure if it's because the bread wasn't heated due to the fact that it was a to-go order. There were no rice, but had pinto beans, the verde sauce, the fried tortillas, queso, and the egg. The egg were cooked perfectly; I enjoy my eggs a bit runny. When I ordered, the lady that took my order did not ask me if I wanted to dine there or take it to-go. Since she did not ask me, I was anticipating on enjoying my late lunch there, but it was neatly bagged when my order was brought out to me. No big deal. This place is my go to for authentic good quality Mexican food. The quality of the meat is why I will always come here. Family owned and they all work there, which is hella cool. The first time I popped in here I was getting my car fixed a block away and it was walking distance so I came and grabbed the chilaquiles torta. Super high quality ingredients, full of flavor and very fair prices. This morning I was craving a breakfast burrito so I decided to run it back and get one from here.
