Been here a couple of times. Food is decent and place is fairly clean but the staff is not well trained. If you are ordering a to-go order expect to have to wait 10-20 minutes after arrival for them to take your money and give you your food even if it's siting right in front of you and it's not busy. I've seen packed bars on 6th street with better service than this place even if only a few people are at the bar. I've given this place a go about 3 or 4 times but I'm over it at this point. Not worth the headache or money. Was told by the manager that they have never gotten this type of complaint before. Looking at reviews that seems to be false.... maybe look into training your staff and taking accountability rather than trying to tell people "oh this has never happened." read more

I feel like an idiot but I didn't realize that the ONLY meat on the menu is fried chicken. Other chicken places I frequent have a rotisserie or chicken salad option and since "Fried" wasn't in the name, I assumed I would be able to to find something light-gluten. Not here :) I totally should have checked, I'm not blaming T22, just a warning for others that may want/need something else. Everyone I was with liked the fried chicken. I had the beans, collard greens and fries and they were decent. The greens were the least exciting - so watery that half the cup was liquid after I attempted to eat them with a fork. read more

Great food. I had the fried chicken and beans. I was too full for desert afterwards but I was tempted to get pie. I wasn't sure how the amount of spice was measured but I got a mild spicy chicken and I thought mine was hotter than the 2nd hottest. It was delicious either way. read more

The chicken were big pieces, spiced right (I got MoHot), great taste, fast and attentive service, and the price was what I would expect for chicken and 2 sides. This was a terrible experience, we waiting for quite some time to be greeted to get drinks, had to ask multiple times for dipping sauces, and refills. We sat outside, and other guests were very disruptive from incessant dog barking to children running around and kicking up dirt. Terrible. Go elsewhere, Austin has other chicken restaurants... we should've done the same. Raising Canes would be a huge step up from this! read more

Everything from the decor to the music and waiters was excellent in our experience. We've been to Lucy's and a few other chicken joints but I was left feeling let down. For some reason, they forget salt or needing to balance your salt and sugar in the seasoning. The options of level of heat is excellent here. You get five heat levels for options. As far as the menu goes, you get choices of white and dark meat in bone-in options, sandwiches, and salads. Plus they have dip choices. We chose the kale salad, Cobb salad, chicken sandwich, tenders, with two sides-beans and collard greens. Our waitress kept our cups full. As we waited, I looked around and noticed how they painted their walls. They made it look like an old building with layers of paint. I loved it. The waitress then left a glass of forks and knives for us. Lots better than keeping silverware exposed in the glasses on the table or exposed in napkins. The women's bathroom had paintings of magnolias on the walls which took me back to New Orleans and Mississippi where I grew up. The music was perfect as well. They play a mix of oldies and blues with some classic rock. The waitress gave us our dishes and I loved it from the start. It was freshly cooked and not frozen. My chicken strips that came with the salad were a dark orange and the spice was perfect. The deviled eggs were delicious. I'm very picky with deviled eggs because people will add so much onion or paprika that it takes any other flavor away. These were perfect. The bar looks small but people seemed to enjoyed eating there and liked their drinks. We talk about this place often and dream of their chicken. They know how to cook! read more

Best fried chicken I've ever had!!! Had the 1/2 chicken "dang hot" and it wasn't too spicy, I wanted to try the hottest one but they wouldn't do half sauce order. So I tried the dang hot and it wasn't too spicy. Sides: French fries and kale cole slaw were both really good also. Really good food and really good service! Food is good (not great) which is why a 3-Star rating. Service overall is fair to mediocre to weird. The hostess asked (after waiting a bit) how many, no eye contact then proceeded to walk quite quickly to a table and motioned to us to meet her. She didn't ask if whether we wanted to sit inside or outside and it was a gorgeous day. We then asked her and she mozied over to the doors outside and proceeded to the table. The wait staff was ok but nothing outstanding, just merely taking the order, but the last weird thing was that one of the bus ladies walked to our table when we were finished eating and just chatting, looked at us, took a glass away and that's all. There were several there, she didn't ask if we were finished. I guess you had to be there to appreciate the moment. read more

The chicken was not only juicy and tender but also extremely flavorful. Simply delicious despite the scorching heat.

First, I'm sad that this place does not offer a child's menu. Second, my waitress unapologetically gave my mother (who has strep throat) my salad and then told me I could wait another 40 minutes for another one or eat off of the one my contagious mother has been eating. The Mac n cheese was too spicy for my kids to eat. I spent $40 here and my children and I literally ate no more than one bite of food a piece. I have put them on my "Don't go back" list. read more

T22 has great chicken and great customer service. For the first time, we ordered from the online menu. When we got home, I realized that they had made all of our deviled eggs (tasty!) but forgot half of our very large order of chicken tenders. I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager. He apologized profusely and said, since I told him that we actually needed the chicken and that a refund aliine wouldn't help, that if I left the house then to go back to T22, that he would have the chicken ready and would happily give us an entire pie for dessert in apology. When we arrived, it turns out that he had remade the entire order (so it would all be hot) and thrown in a pie. That's excellent customer service, and we greatly appreciated it. read more

Is it chicken? Yes. Is it good? Meh, it's not bad. Is it Nashville hot chicken, definitly not! The building says Nashville hot chicken Texas style. That is not what I tasted, it was reminiscent of the shake and bake from my childhood but a little spicy. The sides are good, but if you are from the Nashville area this is not in the same ballpark and the heat levels are not equivalent. Went here for the first time being a huge fried chicken fan. It was a cool Atmosphere. Very eclectic and industrial. The bar made drinks by hand. I mean the lemonade cocktails were made from fresh lemons and not for a mix. Refreshing and delicious. I got the hot fried chicken. The waiter said it wasn't that hot so my fiancé got the same. She can handle spicy food but it was too spicy for her. We had to order the regular = wimpy. It was moist and delicious. Only complaint was the waiter didn't offer to give us a free piece of regular chicken after making this recommendation. That would have been nice. Great food though. This joint knows how to do delicious fried chicken. I've had both a white meat meal and the ample chicken tenders meal. Tasty and moist, and the right degree of hotness (Mo Hot for me). Great sides. And, meals capped each time with wonderful mini-lemon meringue pies. The mixed drinks are priced right and tasty. Really, with the excellent service T22 provides, it is hard to go wrong. read more

Nashville hot chicken. If you like spicy chicken, T22 is the place. You get to pick your spice level, but Hot is pretty spicy and fire in the hole is damn hot. Happy hour is a great deal for food and drinks. And the pies are excellent. Great service and the Burnet joint has lots of outdoor seating. This brick and mortar version of the food truck is great. Went for happy hour and the food was great. Got the one piece chicken with a side of kale slaw and was not disappointed. And it was $4 and filling. Only knock I have was service. When you request a suggestion for a HH drink, order it, and then they say the beer you got isn't part of HH cause of alcohol content...sort of irks me that it would be suggested. Best fried chicken I have ever had at a fried chicken joint, anywhere. Been here twice in 2 weeks and will be back soon. A half chicken is sufficient for two very hungry people. The pieces are much larger than Gus'. I feel the batter has some Asian spices, a nutty flavor which is very subtle and makes the chicken better than anything else in Austin. So thankfully I gave this place a couple of tries prior to writing this review as the first shot wasn't the best experience. Having been twice now, I can honestly say that T22 has some mighty tasty chicken, even if I only order the whimpy kind. The mac and cheese is ultra yummy and the tea actually taste like tea, not just colored water! I mention tea, because in the South, we drink tea with our fried chicken. The only ding I'd give if the chicken wasn't so delious would be their coconut cream pie didn't have any sugar in the top cream layer, so it was kind of hard to eat, but the lemon tart my wife ordered was amazing, to that also trumps the bad coconut choice. She had one of the hotter choices on her chicken and said it wasn't too spicy, but that the general taste and the spice melded very well together. Will be making repeat visits! read more

The prices are surprisingly reasonable for New Austin, the sides are delicious, and the chicken (Lordy) is delicious, an addictive combo of dry cayenne hot spice mixed with a sticky honey sweet. Being from Ohio, our benchmark for a place like T22 is Hot Chicken Takeover in Columbus. So maybe our expectations were too high. But we were excited to try this place after reading the reviews. Cool at first appearance, including a nice outdoor seating venue. Decent menu variety for what it is. I liked the heat level options for the chicken. We opted for Mo Hot, just to be on the safe side. It was a nice medium heat without being too overwhelming. The chicken itself was pretty good - juicy, good flavor. No complaints really, it just didn't wow me. Our meal came with two sides, one of which were bbq beans and we ordered separate sides to share. Paid $5 for a small, single side of mac and cheese that we couldn't share and $5 for a huge basket of fries that we couldn't eat. That doesn't seem right and I would not have done that had I seen the portion size of the M&C. And after paying $10 for extra sides, we never even got our bbq beans. They just forgot them. We sat outside at the picnic tables and ours had no napkins. The waitress said she would bring us a roll. When she did, she brought a nearly empty roll with maybe a few sheets left. She said she would bring another; never did, and I ended up having to grab some off another table. Same with ketchup. All said, I could get past the poor service and the M&C issue, because now I know. But at the end of the day, it was "just ok" and there really isn't any compelling reason to go back. read more
