One of the best Tex Mex restaurants in Dallas and I got there just by chance!! We were shopping today in the nearby Northpark Mall and decided to check out some eateries on the way and we found this awesome place. Very happening and the dinner time is full of happy people enjoying their meal and some with their drinks. Ambiance : Very cosy and comfortable. Service : Good, and like any other Tex-Mex eatery they serve you chips and salsa Cuisine : Tex-Mex at its best. Food : I've never had fajitas served with this grace and perfection. Chicken was grilled to perfection on a bed of onions and bell peppers. It was grilled and juicy- the way it should be. They serve guacamole, salsa, rice, and sour cream all separately along with pinto beans in gravy ( never had this before). They don't count tortillas and there is enough in fajita for two. We also had a burrito bowl which was again the right mix of lettuce, rice, beans, cheese, and chicken. The chicken- my friends- was shredded beautifully. It was moist, juicy, and sautéed with a light tomato gravy and tasted very good. Overall it was a wonderful experience and I am surely visiting this place again. read more

Had been a regular at the former Inwood location. The decor in the new place is very upscale while the menu has been drastically pared down. My dinner companion & I are pescatarians and our favorite meal (2 grilled catfish fillets, grilled potatoes, squash & zucchini) was missing from the menu. We asked our server about the meal who said that the kitchen could make it even though it wasn't on the menu. We each happily ordered it and enjoyed chips & salsa with frosty glasses of draft Modelo Especial until our plates arrived. The meal was well-prepared, and the server kept water and beer glasses filled. The cafe wasn't as busy as expected for a Sat night, but there was a huge thunderstorm on the way which could have kept people from venturing out. Had a work lunch today.... I was the only one who had never been here, and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. It's a bummer that they don't make their own tortillas (that would earn them my fifth star), but the food itself was great! I got the pork carnitas, and they were juicy, tender, and very flavorful. The rice and charro beans were also good. The service was also good. Our server was attentive, personable, and had fun pens that he told us he bought at Dollar Tree (and now I have to go find these pens, lol). I'm in town for business & this place had the best Yelp reviews, so naturally I tried it. I wasn't disappointed at all. I enjoyed the carne Asada dinner served with a pico de gallo salad & barracocca (so) beans. The meat was better than most carne asadas we get up north, so to speak. It was a generous 8oz portion of meat with ample onions, peppers & rice. I added some chili con queso to this dish and I have enjoyed every bite. Now, I gotta tell you, I don't like pinto beans. Never have. But I tried the beans and man, I was impressed! I ate all the beans, which I would never have done. I went in around 4:30 because I had skipped lunch. The wait staff was very patient, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I may just eat here for a few more days. read more

I've been eating at Tupinamba at their various locations over the years since 1975, and they have never disappointed. Went for dinner there again tonight after spending the weekend helping our son move into his new apartment in the Village area of Dallas just a mile or so down 75. We all needed a good satisfying sit down meal and to rest, relax and recuperate. This was the perfect choice. Best Tex Mex in North Texas hands down. Complimentary chips and salsa are fantastic and a great start to the meal. Cheese enchiladas are among the best I've ever had. Tamales are large and substantial, not the typical soft and mushy chili covered masa you find in most places. Large portions and the food is served piping hot. My wife ordered the puffed tacos and told me they were just a bit spicy for her but were excellent nonetheless. Our waiter was always close by and took excellent care of us without being overbearing or annoying. Being a UT Austin grad, the only issue I have ever had with Tupinamba is their Texas A&M themed menu. But for Tex Mex this good I am willing to overlook that blasphemy and just enjoy the awesome food. For all you 80's UT grads living in or visiting Dallas, this is even better than Jorge's in Austin was back in the day. You won't be disappointed. read more

Dinner on Black Friday, 2019. I remember going here with coworkers a few years ago and had been meaning to go back. Architecture and decor are pretty good. Service generally good, though no beverage refills were offered. Chips and salsa pretty decent. Apart from that, food was not delicious. Tasted like the third string cooks were filling in, like university cafeteria Mexican food. Maybe it will be great tomorrow, but I'm not going to find out. read more

I've been eating at Tupinamba for 40 years. Their food has remained consistent and good. The employees have been there for years. Eddie Dominguez has continued his parents dream and continues to serve the best Tex-Mex in Dallas. They also have the best margarita in town. The "Tupy Gold" is smooth and strong. If you have more than two you shouldn't be the driver. I have brought people from all over the US here and they all loved it. It is great for a nice dinner for two and easily accommodates large parties. A must if you are sampling Tex-Mexican in Dallas. It will always be a favorite. read more

Love this place! They by far have the best fried tacos. Whatever you do be sure to order a Tupy Taco! It'll be one of the best decisions you've ever made. Ask for a side of ranch to dip it in. This was my first and last time at Tupinamba. The only thing I enjoyed was the tupy taco. The chips and salsa tasted like they were prepackaged from a store. The margarita had an unnatural color and tasted artificial; I have no doubt it was made with a mix. I ordered the a tex mex plate with cheese enchiladas; the plate came out so hot that you'd get 1st degree burns if you touched it. The enchiladas were drowning in sauce and were nothing special. The thing that got me was the high cost of the food and the fact that the tex mex plates did not come with rice and beans. I did taste the rice and it was bad as well, not worth the extra $1.75. So basically, save some money, eat better food, and go to Mi Cocina. read more

We went on a Friday night and were told the wait would be 20-25 minutes. No big deal. The wait was actually about 45 minutes. Someone complained to the host about other parties being seated right after they arrive and they were told they had reservations. They do not advertise that they tale reservations but maybe that has changed so you might check into that. The food was just "good". Maybe a bit too pricy for what you get since most all dinner plates do not come with rice and beans and they are $1.75 each a la carte. That makes the price relative to Mi Cocina but probably not as good. Service was very poor. We asked our waiter 3 times for more salsa and each time he said right away. He would always return to nearby tables without our salsa. We even resorted to asking other waitresses to please find someone to bring us more salsa. It turned out to be a quite a challenge. Our waiter, finally came back to our table, but without salsa and flat out told us he was "just too busy". At that point, we had a visit from some sort of manager who quickly obliged us with more salsa and came back later to check on us. Not a huge deal, but it was handled poorly and something so simple should not be difficult to handle. The decor is way more upscale than the Inwood location and they have a nice little patio. Parking was also difficult due to them being so crowded. read more

Was recommended to go here yesterday for lunch. Excited to get some Tex-mex. I was immediately greeted and seated. Waiter came over and took my order after receiving chips n salsa. I ordered the enchiladas verdes (my go to tester). Food came out piping hot and the rice was really good. While eating, a lady came in behind me and somehow ended up getting her check before me? I watched my waiter hustle checks back and forth between the bar area where I was seated and the main dining area. I turned around and wondered how this girl got her check before I did and left. Waiter NEVER came back to me to ask if I needed anything mid-meal, never brought my bill. Lucky I had a $20 in my pocket. I just got up and left. Bar area only had a few tables so there is no excuse for lack of service. I mentioned my concern to the greeter on my way out. She asked if I wanted to talk to the manager. I said no. Really good authentic Mexican food. They just moved to this location. I had the #7 with a fantastic cheese enchilada and 2 tamales. The were both covered in a chili sauce. Both were very good. The guacamole was amazing with excellent taste! I had a skinny margarita, it was good, but had so much tequila I had to add a little water. They don't skimp on the alcohol. The extremely crisp chips had a great taste, almost a buttery flavor. The hot sauce was just right. Loved this place! read more
