My absolutely favorite brunch restaurant in STL. . It's also my go-to for client lunches.

Trying too hard. The food feels maybe a click above a diner, but is sold like fancy cafe food and housed in a space for maybe something that was trendy 5 years ago. Service: clumsy. Everyone we dealt with was distant (and absent) and acted uninterested in being there. I wish it was a quick service restaurant, esp since they serve quick service food. Coffee: worse than diner coffee, and we didn't get refilled at all. Not sure if you get refilled. Saw a server assistant top off another table toward the end of meal, but nowhere to be seen the entire time else. Food: like I said, diner food, but at this price, esp since breakfast items don't come with sides, no thanks. I'd rather to go a real diner. Biscuits on the flight were dense and doughy, except for the buttermilk. The LEO is rich buttery hollandaise on rich egg yolk on rich fatty salmon, on a piece of commercially available (diner) bread, with a few dots of caper as the only solace from fat and rich. Poorly balanced and not enjoyable to eat. The tortilla burger sounded good on paper, but a) was flavorless b) had overcooked patty c) ate dry - no sauce... The food looks like it could be "cafe food" - a light and interesting meal you treat yourself to, or eat quickly over a working lunch. But what we actually got to eat... even if it's a slightly different take on some classics... was too heavy and bland to be anything but "greasy spoon" food, and the whole restaurant is a little overpriced and fussy for what it is. Doubt I'll be back after that service and biscuit flight. read more

While sightseeing in the city, we found this restaurant as a breakfast option thru Yelp during our travels, so we decided to stop in for a little breakfast. The workers were very friendly and we got great service, but the menu was very limited and pricey for what we were looking for. Not the most kid-friendly menu, so we dined on some biscuits and coffee and were on our way. read more

A friend and I had dinner here before a show at the Fabulous Fox. We both ordered a specialty drink. I had the Rendez-vu which was to DIE for. My friend let me try a sip of her American Beauty and it was really good too. We started with Small Plates and after finding out it was Happy Hour and most of them were half price, we ended up sticking with them. First we shared the Deviled Eggs, the Shrimp and Grits, and the Brussel Sprouts. Every one of those dishes was eye-rolling awesome. That encouraged us to continue with the Lamb Meatballs and the Poutine. These were also very, very good. We finished off with the awesome Creme Brule. The atmosphere is unique and enjoyable. Just okay. The cooking staff musta been tired. My grilled cheese taste like the cheese sandwich had been sitting bc the cheese was dried and not gooey by the time I got it. Was told the tomato soup was hot by the waitress and it was just lukewarm, so the plated food had to had been sitting bf it got to the table. And my friend's salmon was RAW just below it's seared surface, so she returned it. She didn't have to pay for the soup she ordered afterwards, but most likely will not return. My husband and I just left Turn STL for the first time. unfortunately we didn't have the opportunity to eat. The young hostess promised us a 15-20min wait which was okay for us. After 35 minutes and seeing numerous people walk in to be seated we we started to get upset. my husband asked the hostess when we would be sat, she blatantly told us she couldn't help us. So after waiting for over 30 minutes, the hostess never communicated that the wait would be longer or offered any solution at all. She could have told us that it was best to make a reservation vs walking in. I'm extremely fatigue because we were excited about trying a new place but I definitely wouldn't recommend this to anyone. I hate to give restaurants two or threes but our waiter was horrible, and the kitchen was slow. We came here for brunch and waited an hour and 40 min for our food! 20 min for someone to get us water and on there 25 min just for drinks. The food was decent, I had Shrimp and Grits and the grits were oily. The rest of my family had the burger with blue berry bbq sauce which they said was good. My wife and I have to force ourselves not to go to Turn every Sunday after church. We literally could eat there without thinking twice. David has an absolutely great staff who balance chit chatting with you and serving great food very well. Not to mention that he has an amazing menu and concept to turn the menu seasonally. if you have not visited this gem of a restaurant, get in there and begin with a biscuit flight and eat your heart out. Dinner: We shared a bunch of the small plates from their new dinner menu. They have a different take on Brussels sprouts which I appreciated. There were caramelized onions and pears mixed with the sprouts. The arancini was to die for and there was a hearty amount of filling in the deviled eggs. I'm looking forward to going back to try some of the main entrees! Brunch: The seasonal polenta and biscuit flight are amazing Laidback, inviting ambiance. I love the album art on the wall. This family owned restaurant opened in May 2017 and the owner was previously a chef at Café Osage. The location is a little off the beaten path and shares a common lobby with a theater. The restaurant space was bright and inviting and the staff were very friendly. I ordered the quinoa breakfast bowl with a side order of biscuits. The quinoa bowl was filling, fresh, and very healthy. The flavors paired well with one another and it was a great morning meal. The dense, peppery biscuit came with homemade blueberry jam and butter. Definitely worth a visit! read more

I'm from out of town and have made a point of coming here each time I come back. I can't recommend better French fries anywhere , truly delicious seasonings ! The cheddar burger is very good too, though they tend to cook it well done (no matter what you tell them for temperature). Definitely recommend the place. I have no idea how I wandered into such a different restaurant from everyone else, but there was nothing redeemable about my entire visit to Turn. The decor was trying to be upscale, and it succeeded, but it seemed like a work in progress. Semi-industrial with a mix of retro rock thrown in for good measure. Unfortunately, it lacked the soul that it so desperately craved. But aesthetics are only a small part of the experience The food. Where do I start. Small menu, but everything sounded good on paper. Unfortunately, the result was just bad in execution and seasoning. I got two eggs, three strips of bacon, and a tiny biscuit for almost $13. My girlfriend got something with egg, chorizo, and avocado. SOMEHOW the chorizo was bland. How the hell does that even happen? The entire point of chorizo is for it to be a somewhat spicy and heavily seasoned sausage used in Mexican cooking. All she had was something the consistency of a sausage patty with the taste of cardboard. And the topping was a quarter of a very thin sliced avocado, which barely gave any satisfaction after the chorizo fail. And the mimosa.....god the mimosa. In what universe is a small champagne flute filled mostly with OJ justify an eight dollar drink? Was it the three blue berries in the top that set it all off and made it palatable? They did spin in the carbonation....that was somewhat neat. Not so much that it was gone in two sips. The service was just not there. The server came to the table, they brought food and water and just looked completely uninterested in the entire experience. I get that work can be a drag sometimes, but you're not supposed to let everyone in the restaurant know that. On top of that, he just looked completely stoned. The only time he perked up was when the cops were having a little party across the street that kept getting interrupted by SLU security. I cannot recommend this place for any reason. I am not against paying money for a good meal, but this was just a lot of money for a sub par meal that was skimpy. The first question when we walked out was where we were gonna eat dinner because neither of us felt full. I'm either overly critical, or I've been blessed with excellent breakfasts all over STL, but this was just so sad that I don't think that I can get the taste of mediocre food and over priced alcohol out of my head anytime soon. It's striving to be something transcendent, but they are trying to run before they can even stand. It's not quite a hipster, not quite trendy, and just an all around fail. read more

The jam provided for the biscuits was Fucking A! The drinks were awesome. All of it was. My first time in St.Louis and so far I'm very happy with the restaurants and the quality of food. I've been wanting to check out Turn since it's opening, and finally made it for Sunday brunch. It did not disappoint! The only hardship was narrowing the inspired menu to one item. Everyone in my party agreed the food was flavorful and delicious. Huge windows let natural light blanket the welcoming decor. Cafe Osage used to be our favorite place in St. Louis for brunch, thanks to former chef David Kirkland's mastery of the breakfast genre - but now that he's opened his own place, our loyalty has shifted to Turn. The space is bright and airy, the decor minimalist yet warm. Service is friendly and efficient, and David himself greeted many of the guests while we were there, creating a familial atmosphere and happy-making vibe. We started with a biscuit flight, which offers four varieties of biscuits, each unique and delicious. You know you're in for something special when you can't stop talking about how good the honey is. There's a daily eggs Benedict special; ours was done with heirloom tomatoes and sweet corn sauce. The corn was sweet perfection, almost dessert-like. We also ordered the quinoa bowl, which featured fresh seasonal veggies whose flavors popped right out of the dish. Like Osage, Turn has a tasty cocktail menu that adds to the celebratory feeling of eating here. This time, we only tried breakfast foods, but there's a robust lunch menu as well, which I'm eager to put through its paces on my next visit. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING I went with a large party around 11, I do have to compliment the service, it was outstanding. But the food was another story. Pancakes tasted like cardboard and had little to no flavor. French toast was even worse and tasted like cough syrup. Avocado toast was below average and had, yet again no flavor. You'll find a small but well-rounded breakfast and lunch menu at Turn Restaurant. Both our menu options were indulgent to say the least; potentially a little greasy for some folks. Loads of nice details: square menus the size of a 12" vinyl album cover, an "album cover" wall, one 80s rock ballad after the other, lots of daylight, and a clean, contemporary setting. This was such a disappointing experience. Waiters have no clue what they are doing. Walking around and taking orders without actually placing them in the POS. I ordered a drink and didn't get it after 30 minutes! I finally just left. When you walk in, notice how many people are not eating. Most people won't be. Sad. read more

we've found ourselves ordering takeout brunch quite a bit from here during this pandemic. i MISS going out to eat (SO. HARD.), so picking up brunch on the weekend and bringing it home to enjoy with my family feels like a real treat. we've tried dang near everything on the menu, and everyone in my family loves something different. i'm obsessed with their buffalo cauliflower and their fresh pickled veggies. we almost always order two of the arepas (with veggie chorizo) because one just isn't enough. my sister LOVES the mediterranean wrap (yes, for brunch), and i've been pleasantly surprised by the L.E.O. everything's a winner on this menu, and the service, even for a simple pickup, has been top notch. read more

I took my mom here for Mother's Day brunch on the recommendation of a friend and it was wonderful! The ambience was chill and comfortable with lots of natural light. We had trouble making up our minds on what to order because there were so many delectable choices and interpretations of classic brunch fare. We decided on the breakfast sandwich w/ Brussels spouts and the caprese sandwich with truffle fries. Everything was fresh, as you'd expect from the committed locavore menu, and the flavors were vibrantly elevated. I am not a fan of Brussels sprouts but I have to say that these were nowhere near the soggy, bitter little cabbages that I'm familiar with but were crispy and savory. The blood orange mimosas were also a perfect balance of bubbly and brightness. David, the chef and owner, made the rounds to all the tables and we had a lovely conversation. The staff was friendly and attentive. I'll definitely try the biscuit flight next time. Really enjoyed everything about Turn and recommend it as a great place for breakfast/brunch. read more

Went here for a work lunch yesterday and was very impressed! The space itself is very cool/quirky. We loved looking at all of the old record covers on the wall! There were 7 of us and they were able to accommodate us easily. We started out with the Biscuit Flight and it was sooooo good. The blueberry one and the cheddar one stood out the most. For our entrees, we all pretty much ordered different things and were very satisfied. Some of the winners included the grilled cheese and soup, the Cuban, the L.E.O. and the Arepa. The Cauliflower Bites were a huge hit too. I would go back just to order those. It was one of my coworkers birthdays as well so they brought out miniature little molten cakes for all of us afterwards. It was a nice surprise! Service was great too.
