Being from Chicago, (what I consider the best food city in the country), I had low expectations for dining in Houston. That all changed after dinner at Turner's Cut last night. The second you walk in you are welcomed with one of the most noticeably pretty fragrances in the front entryway. I don't know how they did it but my date was obsessed with the scent. The bar area is stunning and whoever designed this place did a phenomenal job. White is the prettiest and most classy of colors, but it's also incredibly difficult to pull it off without overdoing it or making it cheesy. (Think south beach.) Not the case here. It is beautifully decorated. The accented smoked glass mirrors on the wall above the white leather booths provide a nice subtle touch while not taking away from the elegance. They had a live pianist playing upstairs on a balcony overlooking the dining room and she was phenomenal. Her voice and key playing were both excellent and provided an amazing backdrop and ambiance. We were greeted by our server, Matt, who couldn't have been more friendly, professional, (and extremely well educated in general and on the menu). Best of all, you could tell he genuinely enjoyed working there and took pride in it. He told us the story of personally visiting the farm in Japan where the Kobe beef is raised that Turner's Cut serves, and he was a great host. His assistant Ramon was also out of this world! Super friendly and talkative and advised us on having to get the spirulina dessert. (Which ended up being one of the highlights of the whole night) I cannot remember the name of the sommelier for the life of me (I'm so sorry!) but he was fantastic. He was nice, not too pushy, and steered me towards a fantastic bottle of Hundred Acre "fortunate son" cab that we absolutely loved! I was shocked to see it was a very reasonable list price as well which was surprising and appreciated. The food was out of this world. Noteable items were the campachi crudo, the Caesar salad (which is prepared tableside and a must order), the gnocchi (which is more of a gnutti but still excellent) with a heaping amount of shaved black truffle, the aforementioned Kobe steak, and the king crab topped with caviar. This was not a cheap meal but it was one we will remember for a long time. Definitely a place to share or create memories, and celebrate special occasions. P.s.- this place's bathrooms might be the most swanky, beautiful, (and pristine) restaurant bathroom I've ever been in. This place is absolutely fantastic , classy and friendly. The food is perfect size and extremely tasty. The staff is extremely accomadating . It reminds us of the restaurants we used to go to in the East Coast. Elegant date night. They have been extremely willing and accomadating for anything we asked for. It is pricy but the talent and quality of the work, the effort, and the dedication of the staff is worth every cent. The General Manager, Richard Howell, and his team was very welcoming. Absolutely loved this place. This was my favorite dining experience in Houston this far. I don't think I cut my food once because the staff prepared each dish as it's supposed to be eaten. They food was amazing, we ordered a little bit of everything which I highly recommend! I loved how every plate was explained in detail with recommended cocktails to pair with each plate. My wife and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Turner's Cut for our anniversary and any and all expectations were far exceeded. From the initial warm welcome at the hostess stand, we knew we were about to embark on a special journey. This restaurant is the epitome of class: double breasted white tuxedoes for the bar staff, beautiful velvet dinner jackets for management and front of house staff...this was special. We were promptly seated on the beautiful patio section near the bar when we met our table host, Sofiane. What a warm, passionate ambassador for this experience. It's rare to meet individuals in the service industry who can maintain their enthusiasm in ensuring others are happy. Sofiane has corned the market in the respect. We had the pleasure of learning about his family, his own journey to arrive at Turner's Cut and followed his recommendations across the drink and food menu landscape. What a memorable journey it was! From exquisitely crafted ice cold martinis from the roving TC-branded martini cart to a perfectly crafted old fashioned with charred twist and cherry. Our palettes were primed! We landed on the table side mushroom risotto paired with a succulent seasonal fish finished off with a trio of desserts including a special mango sorbet to celebrate our special occasion. It was impossible to have a "want" tonight: every glass was filled without hesitation, every napkin was folded upon leaving the table...this was a perfectly choreographed dance with a Broadway caliber production. We look forward to returning to celebrate the holidays with a larger party either in their main room with the live music or in one of their private rooms toasting to the good life together. Cesear salad was excellent, sides were okay portions - smaller than other similar steakhouses in my experience. The ambiance is amazing and I love the Auguste Esoffier books in the front! The attention to detail and the passion for culinary arts is felt through the experience they give and the food that was served. Perfect for a date night or an elevated girls night. The service was impeccable. We had 2 servers, Najee and Cescile who were attentive and knew the menu very well to describe everything in detail. Good: The wait staff and captain delivered outstanding service, complemented by a pleasant and inviting ambiance. Bad: The food was underwhelming and overpriced, and the experience was further tarnished by the general manager, Richard Howell, whose behavior was demeaning and unprofessional. I had high expectations and even though it was an excellent meal, I felt a bit disappointed with the experience. We had the Australian Wagyu strip and the Kobe ribeye. We asked for medium rare and they were slightly over cooked. The Strip had a nice crust on it. I had to add copious amounts of the red wine reduction to thoroughly enjoy this meat. These steaks were average compared to the best steakhouses in the country and even the ones we make at home. But average for one of the best steakhouses is still pretty good. We started with a few cocktails which were excellent. The Midnight Manhattan was the best Manhattan I've ever had. The waiter Ryan was very good. You could tell he has worked in nice restaurants for years and his knowledge of the menu was impressive for a new restaurant. We started with the shrimp and the toro sashimi. Neither was very good - the shrimp were over cooked and the tuna belly was low quality and not sliced correctly. The Foie Gras Terrine was not only beautifully presented but delicious. I would order this again. We had the gnocchi as a side with the steaks and again, I was a tad disappointed. It was good, but I've had much better at other steakhouses. The Parker house rolls hit the mark. I highly recommend ordering these. The sommelier was helpful and the wine was excellent. It's a beautiful restaurant and I believe the potential is there to become the best steakhouse in Houston. But in my opinion, it's not quite there yet. read more

A fabulous place! Came with another couple for a double date without kids--loved our time! The restaurant is beautifully appointed, romantic, but not stuffy and quiet... the food is great! My husband was still hungry when we left, surprisingly--I was absolutely stuffed! The staff is all so very nice, profesional, and well-suited to work in such a high-end restaurant. Presentation of all dishes was lovely. We ordered pretty much everything worthwhile from the menu, including the beef Wellington, which was good, in my opinion. I would say the drinks and desserts were on the underwhelming side. I honestly remember the decor more than the food itself. We went there for a birthday celebration for my fiancé. She is a foodie and loves the Houston restaurants. Our first time to this one. We walked in and were taken by the friendly service and the 1950's decor. Service staff were all knowledgeable and competent. Drinks were crafted well. If you like martinis, they have a mobile martini bar. Excellent. The food was amazing. Probably our best meal in Houston. We had after dinner drinks and her son had sent a picture of her to the bartender. They made that picture the top of her drink. Lots of fun. read more

used to be one of my favorite restaurant... Their double lobster tail dish used to be this sous vide lobster that is so buttery smooth with the perfect combination of sauces. This last time I went, I had reservation because I saw an overcooked-looking picture on google reviews. I ordered anyway and told the waiter to make sure it's buttery smooth and not overcooked. It came out super hard, overcooked, and rubbery and even he noticed it (I think). They redid the dish (still not sure if they just reheated my old lobster or what) and the manager brought it out and said "here's your perfectly done lobster".... didn't even ask for my feedback.... and it was EVEN HARDER, which made me suspect that they just put my lobster and cooked it even more which is sad considering I said it's overcooked.... My husband's steak was also over-salted.... Very sad... Note to management: next time you redo a dish, at least ask for the customer's feedback..... Also, let me know when your lobster is back to being smooth and not overcooked and I will return..... read more

Turner's Cut is a great spot for a wonderful celebration meal: the food is delicious; service is flawless; and the restaurant itself is beautiful. The food was all wonderful--here are a few highlights from our meal: -Foie gras terrine: This may have been one of the best foie gras terrines I've ever had--the caramelized apple (I believe it was apple!) on the top and hazelnuts on the bottom were scrumptious. My only complaint about this dish was that there wasn't enough brioche to go with the foie gras, so it was a good thing we ordered the parker house rolls too. -Parker house rolls: A great, fluffy choice for bread service. -Caesar salad: While caesar salads may be run-of-the-mill, this caesar salad was special--the dressing was tangy and had a slightly spicy aftertaste, so good. -Filet: There are a ton of different types of steak options, and I went with the American wagyu filet, which was a great choice--perfectly cooked and seasoned. -Sides: All of the sides we tried were good (pureed potatoes, carrots, and brussel sprouts), and I'd say the carrots were my favorite. -Chocolate souffle tart: This dessert was a great way to end the meal! Imagine a slightly crunchier and flatter souffle. In a world where I'm sure there's steep competition for great staff, the service at Turner's Cut was excellent. From the moment we walked in the door, I got a great feeling about the service, and I was right. While I don't usually mention staffs' names specifically, Brian and JD at Turner's Cut made sure we had a great experience. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. In comparison with its sister restaurant Turner's English club feel, Turner's Cut is more romantic with candles and white marble. And they had fun live music. Ryan Wilson is such a great hospitality representative & made sure we were comfortable the entire time. *I can't recommend him enough. Food...the run down - Parker Rolls: this is what I mean when I say bring warm bread to the table (soft, hot, buttery, and seasoned) - Gnocchi: perfect texture, delicious creamy sauce, & I had to top it with winter truffle so I encourage you to do the same - Alaskan King crab with Kaviari Kristal: aesthetically gorgeous and the flavors were a great balance of salty, mildly sweet, and buttery - Mushroom Risotto:....just get it and add truffle on top of that too - Chocolate Soufflé start: Amen! Perfect texture and if you're a chocolate lover get this. - Turners Cut Opera: Their take on tiramisu and they nailed it! Slightly coffee taste and a great balance with chocolate. I would like to take a moment to reflect on what an incredible dining and hospitality experience we had last night! My coworker and I are advisors for Culinary at our school. One of our Senior students received 1st place in the District-level Restaurant Service competition last month which qualified her to attend the State competition in April. For those that aren't familiar with this competition, Restaurant Service encompasses all things fine dining - think hosting, napkin folds, table setting/crumbing, service, a tableside appetizer, and guest check calculation. Our student placed 2nd last year at State, but we are aiming for 1st this year in hopes of attending Nationals! So, we wanted them to be able to experience these practices firsthand in a real restaurant, done by the best, so we reached out to Turner's Cut! This restaurant was newly opened in June of 2024. The manager, Richard Howell, was SO accommodating to our requests and excited to have us attend! When we arrived, we were greeted by our head server, Ryan, and his assistant, Mustache Matt who attended to us throughout the evening. They were incredible the entire night! Ryan and Matt walked our student through all the most important steps of a full service - french-style serving, conversations with guests, crumbing, placing and taking away courses, explaining a menu, and much more! Furthermore, they had the opportunity to create their tableside Caesar salad by themselves AND get a tour of the kitchen, which is run by a female head chef! They also treated us to a fun mocktail with our faces on it which was so sweet and cool to see! Not only was the hospitality and service amazing, but so was the food and the lessons we ALL learned. Ryan, Matt, Richard, and the entire staff were so excited to help our student prepare for this competition and are rooting for them in the month to come. I recommend this restaurant WHOLEHEARTEDLY for anyone who is looking for an upscale, intimate dining experience and we are definitely hoping to be back in the future! read more

Oh my goodness- not sure what happened but my last review for this was meant for another restaurant! Turners Cut was fabulous! My husband said it was the best beef Wellington he has ever had. We loved the private room off to the side and tour service was phenomenal. Several of us had Ben's Old Fashioned and loved not only its flavor, but the presentation. We loved it so much we've been raving to others. Things are a bit pricey but this is well worth it. The creativity a that goes into the meal is top notch. Everything was perfect. You ever eat at a restaurant that tried very hard to not try very hard? Often, the veneer cracks and you get a sense of desperation from the hosts, wait staff, sommelier, even the patrons. At Turner's Cut (TC), I found everything to be a cut above (see what I did there?) With seating outside on a pleasant front patio and available seating in various styles of dining spaces (yes, even in the glass wine cave!), the space is well appointed and spacious (did it again) with music which fails to blare. Prices? Dear. Taste? Yes, decor and decorum (didn't plan these puns nor alliterative statements) do suit the attire du soir. And the food: excuse me while I recall drooling invisibly from the choice of water and amuse bouche to the mini brioche to delightful appetizers and suave entree choices. I can get so very picky about the flavors and found myself satisfied with food and drink suggestions which balanced and waltzed in my mouth. With valet or self parking at your discretion, even the parking is a breeze. Berg Hospitality has, once again, turned my head.
