Fine Dinning with a Festive Holiday cheer! There was good moments. It was my first time here for our group of 3. I could barely find the place? Not well lit at all. I drove past it at first glance, thinking I would see some signage, nope? I had to ask the valet where it was. Apparently, the blue awning has a gold T on it (the signage for the restaurant), but this was covered by a giant wreath, so I could not see it. It's located literally right next to Annie's Cafe & Bar, the very same hospitality group. Annie's was good when I went, so I looked forward to the same experience. Drinks - I started with the Pimms Cup. It was refreshing as described and light. I should have gone with the Gin Fizz, I think. The server informed us they were running a special for Dom Perigion 2013, so our table of 3 split the bottle for a pretty penny. Food - I enjoyed my artichoke soup to start. It comes with oysters in a buttery poached sauce. It makes the soup rich and hearty and feels like a true meal rather than an appetizer. This is a solid tasty dish. For my main course, I ordered the wood fire octopus, which had good elements, but I didn't enjoy the way it was cooked, not that perfect texture between firm and soft, it also did not come hot. Maybe I should have gone with the quail? If I come back, I will try again. The bread & butter completed my meal. Ambiance - the place is actually not large. It's all decorated for Christmas, which is why we went. When you walk in the English style door, you're right at the pretty glass bar area with high top tables. There is no host stand near the front, so you just sort of walk in, and the staff stops you to ask if you have a resy, and then you are seated. I liked that they have a beautiful tree in the dining area and a live pianist with some nice music to set the tone. Eventually, the 2nd pianist was joined by a lounge singer for Christmas songs. The only downfall of our night was a loud group next to us that was quite distracting to our meal. Service - our Server Juan and the other staff did their best to keep up. It was a busy night. I noticed that the servers were all kept busy because they had to do final elements for the presentation of the food while at the table or near the table. Such as slicing the meat or debone the fish, or light something on fire for smoke etc. So it's not as if they just drop your plate and leave. It is a fine dining feel for sure, but it makes the service a bit slower then it needed to be. Juan disappeared for a while after the meal was over, and it took too long to get the bill. Parking - out in front is valet, but they have a free parking lot they share with Annie's behind the place.

This place is awesome!! It's small only 12 tables. If you're on a company dime and want to impress someone take them here. Music starts around 9:30pm. The piano and singer are amazing. Perfect date night place. Food and drinks were awesome. Expect around $150/person with food and drinks. Worth every penny. Staff is awesome.

We came here for date night. My companion booked the reservation but once I saw the place and looked up the menu I was excited. For apps we ordered the fried quail and what a way to start. Our server split it for us and it was so savory with the right amount of sweetness with the maple topping. We ordered the 22 oz steak and the filet with foie gras with fried (really just a good roast) Brussel sprouts and pappas fries. The brussels were perfectly cooked and seasoned. For dessert we planned to split the chocolate cake but at the last minute I opted for the coconut cake and it did not disappoint. In fact, I had to share because it outshined the chocolate cake (which was good in its own right). My date enjoyed the cocktails and while they were able and offered to do mocktails I declined but it was good to know it was an option. This is a great place for a date night. The decor is eclectic and I loved the green motif-it is quite dark lighting in the evening. There was a piano player which provided a nice ambiance. Also the service was top-notch. Everyone was on top of everything and made it a hassle free experience.

Our dinner at Turner's was one of the best overall meals I've had in Houston, and that's saying a lot. I've wanted to eat at Turner's since they opened back in 2020, but the pandemic threw a wrench in things, and once we were back to making reservations there was a slew of new restaurants to grab my attention. Luckily, our 10 year anniversary came up and I remembered that intimate fine dining option everyone else had raved about and thankfully secured a table for two at Turner's. Our reservation was set for 8:30pm, and we arrived pretty much on time, but were told our table wasn't quite ready. They said we were welcome to grab a drink at the bar which is pretty standard procedure, but I was so impressed when the hostess then motioned us over to the two reserved seats at the bar. (It's those little gestures that make such a huge difference in service.) Once our table was ready, they placed our cocktails on a silver platter, so we didn't have to worry about spilling, and walked us to our table. (again it's the little things) Seating is VERY limited at Turner's. There's maybe 12 tables inside, and your best bet will always be a meal for 2, maybe 4 if you're feeling adventurous. Surprisingly there was a larger group in the corner celebrating a birthday, but that seemed like a grand exception. The interior reminds me of old social clubs from a bygone era. Buttoned leather banquette seats, low lit two top tables, gilt framed art and photographs stacked to the ceiling, a piano player, black tie waitstaff gliding between the tables, and everyone dressed in their Sunday best. (there is a dress code, check the website) There was a handwritten note waiting for us at our table, wishing us well for our anniversary. When I say this is one of the best meals I've had in Houston, the front of house service had a lot to do with it. This city has always struggled with fine dining service, even at some of my favorite old staunch establishments, but almost every moment of our meal at Turner's was exceptional. The menu is very classic fine dining, think lobster thermidor, caviar, steak tartare, foie gras, wedge salad, the usual selection between steak, pasta, and seafood entrees, etc. Our server asked at the beginning that we order all at once, then checked if we were on a time crunch or wanted to slowly enjoy the evening, because he wanted to make sure to pace our meal accordingly. (More high marks to service) We started with a half dozen PEI raw oysters and the cocoa crusted foie gras torchon paired with a glass of white wine. We then moved on to salads, my wife had the burrata and I opted for the charred Caesar. Our original white wines were running low by the end of our salads, and our waiter popped up out of nowhere with gratis top offs, just to make sure we had a few more sips to go with our last bites. (service again amazing) After the salads, we decided to split the 22oz. ribeye along with wild mushrooms and (lightly) fried brussels sprouts as sides. We also wanted to change gears to a bold red wine to go along with our steak, but my wife couldn't quite decide between three options. Instead of talking us through the choices, our server just brought out all 3 bottles to taste. (Again this Service!) The ribeye was perfectly cooked and the sides were delicious. Finally, at the end of all that fantastic food we could barely move let alone think of something sweet, so we instead went with the cheese cart which was a selection of 4 cheeses. They snuck in a tiny little "Happy Anniversary" sign in the center of the plate and then toasted us with champagne to boot. Incredible meal from start to finish.

Food was great. Love the presentation. The steak was great as well. But if I compare with other nice steak houses this was a bit more expensive. Service was excellent . Ambiance was good. There was live piano . It's a small place as compared to steak 48.

I only gave them 5 stars because you cannot give them 10. I'm not exactly surprised considering it's owned by Berg Hospitality and Ben Berg is the man when it comes to fine dining. My Experience On A Scale Of 1-10 The food? 7 The service? 10 The aesthetics? 10 The Fun? 10 The Entertainment? 10 The Excitement? 10 The food was not the best I've ever had but nowhere near the worst. I ordered the Wagyu Skirt Steak w/ Potato Cake and my guest ordered the Bronzino. The staff comes out to fillet the fish in front of you and did an exceptional job. The fish however tasted like metal/mercury but everything else was great. Our servers name was Amanda and she was very knowledgeable of the menu and made great suggestions. Other staff members were very kind & courteous as well. I was serenaded by live musicians playing both the piano and saxophone after they discovered it was my birthday. When we were almost done eating I requested to see the hidden speakeasy. Special staff came from upstairs to escort my guest and I up the elevator through The Annie Bar & Cafe's kitchen through a hidden door that opened inside of the kitchen wall . This was extremely impressive today the least. The element of surprise, mystique, luxury, power, prestige and secrecy had my emotions everywhere. This was an incredible night. I would be surprised if I visit another restaurant in Houston that can top this experience. Nothing said on a review can give you the feeling that myself and others had at Turner's. You better make a reservation come catch the vibes.

One of Houston's smallest fine dining establishments, that will deliver giant amounts of fun! Turner's is atop a long list of absolute must try establishments. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted with the charm and elegance, and excellent food and service delivered with a world class eloquence. Great food. Fantastic live music that gets better as the night goes by. Incredible bar service and cocktail menus. And you must try the desserts! Our favorite item on the menu is the Wedge Salad that you can add table side cut bacon that is to die for. Make a reservation a week or two in advance or you won't get a spot.

    Entrance

Really fun, intimate setting with a very speak-easy, F. Scott Fitzgerald-vibe. At first you may not notice the entrance to the left of The Annie Cafe and Bar. You walk through an awning-covered walkway marked only with a large "T" to get to the front door. Once at the end of the tunnel, you are met with a large, solid green door with a fist for a knocker and a placard with the restaurant's name on the wall. As the door opens, you find yourself transported back in time to an ornate cocktail bar with candlelit menus and studded leather bar stools. Upon further inspection, you'll notice some more eccentric touches, such as the performing monkey chandelier and fabric-quilted taxidermy pieces in the wall. After having a drink at the bar, you will make your way to your reserved table (reservations required! The space is limited and there is not much room for walk ins). The restaurant is narrow, lined with interesting artwork and alive with music flowing from the piano and vocalist seated in the middle of the room. Our table was very close with the pianist; pretty sure he could have swiveled and joined us for our meal. In contrast to some of the less positive reviews that I read, all of our servers were excellent. The hostess was very gracious and welcoming, encouraging us to take our time and wait for the rest of our party at the bar. Our waiter, Arturo, was very fun and full of suggestions for us. On the way out of the restaurant we were trying to snap a quick group picture, and someone even helped us to try to set up the best lighting for the shot. They have a pretty thorough cocktail list and a healthy wine list that did not disappoint. We really enjoyed the Margarita and Our Gin Fizz drinks, but they had a lot of fun options to choose from. For my starter I had the grilled octopus, which interestingly came with barbecue sauce and a potato/short rib dish. All very tasty. I had the Ambassador's Meatloaf topped with a sunny side up egg and oxtail gravy, served with a side of potatoes mousseline. Really happy with my choice! At our table we also had the Dover Sole, the wedge salad (served with delicious table-side, thick cut bacon), and the Heritage Chicken and Dumplings. All were very good, but I think we all agreed that the Chicken and Dumplings dish was the favorite! We all had a great evening and would love to go back again. Thanks for a wonderful evening, Turner's!

I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked this restaurant! It's a really small restaurant and the noise level is pretty loud especially with the piano player so don't expect a quiet dinner if you want to dine here. Now to the important part the drinks! The ambassador, blood and sand and the margarita were our favorites. I did not like the old fashioned as there was too much bitters in this drink. Now onto the food! For appetizers we had the house cured salmon and the burrata. I recommend the salmon dish. That was our favorite out of the 2. For entrees we got the salmon pot roast, chicken and dumplings and mushroom pasta. The mushroom pasta was sooooo good! The flavor was superb. The salmon pot roast was another great dish as well. The salmon was perfectly cooked and the broth it came in was delightful. The chicken and dumplings was a bit dry so that was my least favorite entree. I recommend calling them for reservations as there was no openings on open table but I was able to get one by calling.

I liked it but I really wanted to love it. Like a few other reviewers have said, some things were a little off that could have made the experience special and appropriate for the price point. We thought we'd be wowed. The good Atmosphere was impressive with a speakeasy type entry and small, beautiful clubby dining room. Kind of the Fuad's or old Aldo's concept mixed with a fancy steakhouse. We had an elegant table by the piano. I don't know if they were limiting capacity as every table was full but we had space on each side. Loved the room. The ok I tried the Turners martini with the butter vodka that was too buttery for me but still good. I switched to regular vodka after. Bread was delicious and beautifully served. The buratta salad was average. Not bad but not great or worth the price. Also had the mushroom pasta and thought it was good. I didn't have a wow factor to my food but my friend enjoyed the steak. We had some wine with the meal and the chocolate dessert - very tasty! The downfall We felt rushed the whole time but were asked/told to move to the bar during dessert with a half full bottle of wine left. Bar was tiny and service was weak - pouring our own wine while servers chatted. They gave us a glass of Champagne for the inconvenience. Not sure what it was but seemed like a bad prosecco. The bar move left a disappointing note on the evening and service overall was not impressive, especially when our bill was $600 for 3 people who wanted to relax and enjoy.

Unfortunately, this turned out to be one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had in quite some time. We had an 8:00 PM reservation but weren't seated until around 8:30 PM. While delays happen and I was willing to overlook that, the experience only went downhill from there. We ordered Palomas to kick off our Friday night. The drinks took quite a while to arrive, and when they did, they were noticeably watered down. I politely mentioned it to our server, who quickly took them back and brought replacements, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the second round was nearly identical to the first. When I brought it up again, instead of acknowledging the feedback, the server responded by saying it was "just not a sugary drink." That completely missed the point. I wasn't expecting a sweet cocktail--I was pointing out that the drinks tasted diluted and poorly made. What bothered me most wasn't the drinks themselves, but how the feedback was handled. I wasn't looking for free drinks or trying to be difficult. I was simply offering honest feedback, and it felt like my opinion was being dismissed rather than heard. Unfortunately, the food didn't redeem the experience. We ordered several dishes to get a good sense of the menu, and most were overwhelmingly salty. The salt overpowered any other flavors to the point that we couldn't finish some of the dishes. The sushi was the best thing we had, but even that lacked the presentation and quality I would expect at this price point. To be fair, the manager did remove the drinks from our bill as a courtesy, and I appreciate that gesture. However, by that point the damage had already been done. A resolution is only effective when guests feel heard and respected throughout the process. Instead, I felt like I had to defend my opinion and justify my feedback before anyone took it seriously. At the end of the day, a restaurant can be trendy, crowded, and beautifully designed, but none of that matters if the food and service don't deliver. Balboa Surf Club has the atmosphere and location, but in my experience it falls short where it matters most. Overall, I'm glad I finally tried it because I had always been curious, but now I know I won't be back and cannot recommend it. If you're looking for a similar concept, I'd recommend Hudson House. The atmosphere is comparable, but the drinks are consistently well-made, the food is much better, and the service has always been far superior.

East coast oysters: 9/10 absolutely love them! The Prince Edward Island ones always have my heart! A little on the smaller side though Gulf coast oysters: 8/10 I'm usually not a gulf coast oyster person but I enjoy how hearty and fresh these ones were. And I also don't usually love the cocktail sauce but this one was rly good a little savory, spicy, and sweet and a healthy amount of lemon juice of course. Deviled eggs: 10/10 these were nice and creamy and had good crunchy texture with the bacon bits and pickles Steak nigiri: 8/10 I would have scored these lower if it weren't for the steak. The steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly but it the rice underneath just felt out of place and unnecessary and not too mention too plentiful. I would love a plate of just the steak and the compote or sauce that was on top. I will definitely be coming back and trying more items on the menu!

Great deal. My margarita was very unique with charcoal and black lava salt. Overall, pretty good drink. I forgot to snap a picture.
