We had such high expectations for this place. We read rave reviews and we couldn't wait to try it. We called ahead and when we arrived they said 10 more minutes. It turned into 45 more minutes and we had called ahead. Then we sat down and the utensils were are dirty with old food. We wanted to walk out but after waiting for so long, we were so hungry we just dealt with It. They gave us a free appetizer which was gross. Then our food came. The portions were super tiny for the price and the wait. The taste was very "I could have made this myself". Oh I forgot to mention the flies we kept having to fan away. Maybe we caught them on a bad day but I doubt we will return. Such a wasted morning. We drove back home just complaining and regretting our visit. read more

Turning Point is one of my all-time favorite breakfast places to go to. Apparently, a lot of other people must feel the same, as it can get ridiculously crowded on weekend mid-mornings -- so show up early if you don't want to wait long for a table. They serve both breakfast and lunch, and I haven't yet had a dish I didn't like (and I've been here more times than I can count). The food is fresh, inventive, generously-portioned, and satisfyingly-yummy. My friend recommended this place to me when I was visiting home a few months ago. I'm a big breakfast fan, so any breakfast place with interesting options often gets 5 stars from me, regardless of being too pricey. The same goes for this place... they used sweet rum topping in a lot of the dishes, including my waffles and my friend's crepes. I enjoyed putting my leftover rum syrup in my smoothie, since the smoothie was just a little bland. I'd definitely go back to this place if I lived closer, but alas now I am a Cali girl. This is one of my favorite brunch places. It's a bit "basic" if you're from this area because everyone goes here but the food is great and the service is wonderful. My only complaint is that it's always so busy (because it's so good)! However I do wish the place was a bit bigger and that they had longer hours. Regardless, I've never had a bad experience here or eaten food that I didn't like. Turning Point is one of my favorite breakfast places! However... Be prepared to wait! If you call ahead you can put down your name on the list which is nice. Their food is always pretty fresh and it's delicious. Whether you get breakfast or lunch it's always so good. The roadhouse stack, wilbur skillet, pancakes, tradtional eggs, veggie omelette, and fresh fruit bruschetta are some of my favorites. One of the other cool things about Turning Point is they have two huge pages filled with drink choices. Different kinds of tea, ice coffees, lattes, hot chocolate, you name it! Also, not many people know this but they are BYOB... So bring your champagne here and get some fresh squeezed OJ for mimosas on the weekend! read more

This place serves a great mix of interesting breakfast options but the kitchen can't get simple egg orders right or when they add an extra ingredient to a dish take over 10 minutes to correct the mistake basically ruining a group eating experience. Excellent service, we calls ahead for a party of 7, day before Mother's Day. Waited for about 10 minutes once we were there, which was great. As opposed to the usual coffee order, we ordered a few French presses, and the coffee was great. The table ordered an assortment of food, I had the "big easy Benedict's" and although I was a little curious of how the poached eggs would go with the cornbread as hollandaise sauce, it was amazing. Very surprised more places don't offer this option. My wife had the lobster Benedict and for those that have the taste for seafood, it's awesome. We also shared a waffle with fresh strawberries and kiwi, as well as fresh whipped cream. For a party of 7, with good sized servicing, the bill came to $84.... Given that the lobster Benedict's was $15, and we had to French presses at $5 a piece, I think all in all this is really a great deal. Would be nice if they had outdoor seating, but, not sure who would want to look out at the Wegman's parking lot, and breathe in those fumes.... Great place to done, away from Main Street. read more

Been here several times for breakfast and I have had a great experience everytime. I have tried several different dishes including the Hawaiian pancakes and several different kinds of eggs Benedict and they were all delicious. The different kinds of hot chocolate are also very good, my favorite is the Reeses peanut butter cup hot chocolate, it is great!! The staff has also been very friendly every time my wife and I have gone there. This is by far and away the best breakfast place in the area. The place on main street doesn't even come close to here. Went here today for the first time. Place was way too small, and the wait was ridiculous. We waited over 50 minutes along with another group of people to finally be seated. When asked how much longer we have to wait because we were already there for a long time, this older woman with short dark hair behind the counter who may have been a manager was very rude. She should not handle customers and be in charge if she is going to have a bad attitude and walk around with a nasty look on her face. The restaurant itself was very cute, and the food was okay. All I can say is I got another great breakfast at the Turning Point in Manalapan. This is my third visit there but first time writing a review. We usual go here on special occasions -like birthdays and usually when the only time the whole family can be to together to eat is in the morning, but we always enjoy our visits. Turning point is a breakfast, lunch chain restaurant open 7 days a week but only between 8AM and 3PM. The exterior and interior is cheerfully decorated in bright colors with a stone fireplace against one wall and ceiling fan overhead. It is a casual eating place with a upscale appearance. This visit we arrived on a Saturday at about 11 am with 4 people and joined the crowd waiting for tables. It is always crowded here on weekends. For those waiting, they do have sitting inside near the door and outside under an awning in the front of the restaurant. (Since it was raining heavily that day the outdoor seating did come in handy.) There is free Wifi for your cell phone or computer to help past the time. A lot of shops near by you can visit if you have a long wait - including a Wegmans supermarket a short walk away, and a Best buy and Babies R Us a short walk away. If you plan to do some store hopping, you will have to leave someone at the restaurant to wait for your name to be called. The wait this day was 30 mins but we have always found it well worth the wait when food comes out. Even though this is a chain restaurant they do a good job of making the food tasty and unique. My daughters ordered two drinks off the Espresso Bar menu - a cappuccino topped with whip cream and chocolate - that they loved. I had the Wilbur Skillet -a mixture of avocado, potatoes, peppers, cheese combined with eggs (done any style you like), english muffins and a fruit cup. It sounded good on the menu and tasted just as good. The last time I was here I had the Banana Foster (large waffles topped with bananas) which was also very good. One my daughters tried it this time and raved about it. My wife enjoyed the Popeye Skillet (eggs topped with spinach) which she enjoyed. I read one review where they complained about unprofessional behavior of the servers near the waiting area. During our visit the servers where all very friendly and professional from start to finish. We were warmly greeted with big smiles at the door and very well taken care of by our waiter throughout the meal. Our waiter was friendly and very patient with us as we struggled to pick from the menu. Made recommendations to make sure our choices suited us rather than the other way around as in most chain restaurants. Noise level of the Turning Point is moderate. There is a lot of chatter from the other tables but it is not so bad they you can not carry on a conversation with everyone in the group. In addition to the family tables there is also "bar like area" with tall stools one side of the room starting from where they take your name. A good place for those who come alone to have a good meal as well. The restaurant has a TV against one wall but I do not recall it being on that day or any of our other visits. read more

Really wanted to love this place. The menu is great and has a ton of options. The spacing was also pretty good both indoors and outdoors in terms of social distancing. The two main issues were service and food. Service was pretty slow but that seemed specific to our server who might have been a little overwhelmed. Forgivable, but the reason I docked 2 stars was because the food was disappointing. Presentation was good but the flavor was not there. The eggs and potatoes were very bland. It seemed like the eggs were not seasoned at all (no salt, no black pepper, no onions, no garlic, etc) and the potatoes were just boiled, cut, then served. The avocado was mostly brown pieces so also pretty unappealing. And the toast was cold, barely toasted and not buttered. I don't like to give negative reviews but as a yelper these are things I like to know. Personally, I'd choose IHOP over Turning Point in the future. read more
