Food is very yummy and has lots of vegetarian options. They have a large selection of vegan meats, cheeses, and tofu to sub for eggs. Pretty much anything on the menu can be made vegan. Almost any standard breakfast fare, as well as sandwiches and burgers are available. The cocktails are all amazing, especially the bloody Mary's, which they have a few options of. The super spicy one is not for the faint of heart, I like spicy, but dang, it's a bit much. Especially if you're nursing a hangover. They give you a cute little pastry when you sit down that's always yummy. One of my favorite brunch spots. The only downfall is that it's easy to run up a large tab if you're drinking and they're cash only (with an atm on premise), as the servers tend to be a bit distracted. We walked in on a busy Saturday morning. The hostesses were so kind and asked us right away if we had any allergies. We had our toddler with us and when we were seated, there was already a bowl of fruit at the table for him as well as a box of toys and crayons. Although the wait time was longer than anticipated, it was a nice experience. We came for brunch, and waited at the bar. Overall the atmosphere in the bar is dark and dive-ish. Robust, straightforward, coffee. Because sometimes, frou-frou don't impress me much at all. One caveat: CASH only (for a hipster place, this comes as a big surprise. I'm a relatively picky bruncher, but Tweet did not disappoint. The restaurant has so many options to choose from that my friend and I took awhile to decide. I ended up choosing Eggs Benedict and hash browns, and she picked the Portabella sandwich. To drink I got a peach iced tea and my friend got coffee. They give each table a little cake, which is really delicious and makes this place stand out from their competion. The food arrived at the perfect time, not too fast, not too slow. Both of us really enjoyed our meals. Something that I would like to give Tweet huge kudos for is the service. Our server was fantastic! There have been plenty of times I have gone places and paid the bill and sat to talk with my date and the service just ends. This was not the case! Today I met a few brunch clubers for some Sunday Tweet eats. It was about a 45 min wait to get seated. We didn't mind as we stood outside & chit chatted about the latest world/Chicago happenings. Once seated we were promptly greeted by our pleasant waitress. We ordered some water as we looked over the extensive menu of breakfast/brunch fare. We each ordered something different: Eggs bene. Polenta bene & I had the Corned beef hash w over easy eggs. Everything was fabulous. The food was so delicious & our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is very comfy & cozy. Just met a few of my Chicago friends here and I have to say this place is delicious! We sat outside the patio and although I wish seating was more spacious especially with social distancing, I do like that customers and staff must wear a face mask for service or work respectively. We had a friendly waiter who catered to us in a timely fashion. I ordered the Portland Omelette w/ an English Muffin on the side. The butter for my English muffin was almost creamy and rich and wow it tasted so great! My omelette and hash browns were great as well! We came here with friends on a Saturday for brunch. They told us it would be 20 minutes and it was 45. They sat a bunch of two tops who came way after us before our table of 5. Although the vibe is loud, friendly and fun with board games and coloring for the kids and brought bananas but making three two year olds wait more than twice as long as announced is inexcusable. The food was fine, but nothing special. Decor was eclectic and too much. Music was too loud to hear conversation from someone across the tables. Service staff made minimal effort to take care of us. When you walk in with a baby, they make a big production of rolling out a piece of brown paper under the high chair to catch the drips and spills and produce a basket full of toys and books and a dish of banana slices. Awesome! Most recently when we came in, everyone clapped and said excitedly, "Oh yay! A baby!". It's refreshing because it seems like a lot of establishments don't take on a very friendly attitude towards tiny diners. The food is still always awesome! My favorite is the country benedict. I just don't know how this could have been better. We got out of the cab as our friends drive up. The hostess, maybe owner yelled accross the street, "Come on we have been waiting for you!" Too funny. We arrived at 9 am Sunday, reservations are not taken and there was indeed a line when we left. Despite the slim seating, there was no rushing and we enjoyed coffee and conversation with our Chicago friends. The service was attentive, the options were limitless and so was my Lox Platter. So much food, I ate it for 3 days and carried the left over home to Maryland. John had the French toast, and it looked amazing. Should have had a bloody so I could report back. This was MORE THAN ENOUGH for me to indulge in, so do not order the normal stack unless you're looking for some to go. This place also serves other vegetarian and vegan items, so if you're one of those, this is a place for you. So this also means you can get your coffee with soy milk if you're lactose free type person. My friend ordered corn beef with has and tomato. Definitely that was too much food. The corn beef has was perfectly salted, which means you won't be craving for gallons of water afterwards. Tweet's menu has everything you would want for breakfast or lunch in both vegan and gluten-free as well as not. We were greeted with a luscious piece of coffee cake in both regular and gluten free. Upon ordering we got a fresh fruit bowl. The entrees were fresh and scrumptious. My husband said he had never had better hashbrowns. I agree. Service was cheerful and accommodating. Value is exceptional: they probably do this be limiting to cash only. Crowd is young, but it's still Christmas vacation. I, a senior citizen, did not feel out of place, however. I highly recommend. This may be a good daytime switch for people who loved Heartland Cafe, although it's a few miles down the road. read more

Cash only is always a pain, but they make up for it with free coffee cake and pretty big portions. For me, the food and ambience was not worth waiting in a long line and eating in a small, crowded, loud, and uncomfortably warm restaurant. The food is okay; by no means bad, just not something to give extra credit for. Only directly negative thing I have to say is that my mimosa was bad ... really bad. The quality of champagne on this particular day was not good, and because the restaurant was so warm, the drink also became warm very quick.
