Maybe the most enchanting breakfast joint I've ever been to. (And that's saying something!) We went on a Thursday afternoon (brunch time) and it wasn't busy. Perfect! We were sat quickly with a small dish of chocolate chip coffee cake (?). It was a sweet touch. The waiter was fun and bubbly, while being informative and helpful. He was also masked, which was much appreciated. We started with water and coffee. These were filled consistently and the coffee was great! I had the French Toast with syrup and a side of Chicken Sausage. My friend got the standard breakfast (eggs, meat, potato, etc.). The portions were big and filling--the value was great for the price. The French Toast was phenomenal and the fruit cup was surprisingly good. Most of the time, fruit cups are overripe and mushy. Not here! Everyone enjoyed their food. As a visitor to the city, I'd recommend this spot to anyone coming through. It had a fun and funky diner vibe with a ton of great food options (including gluten-free and vegetarian). This breakfast and brunch spot was recommended by my Airbnb host. It was a short walk away with the Buttercup park close by. Dave Ramsey would be proud of this spot since it accepts cash only. In this day of mostly cashless society, it hasn't stopped diners from frequenting this place. For a Monday morning, it was busy. Before being seated, the hostess asked about my dietary restriction. Their menu covered a wide variety like gluten free and vegetarian among others. As I was seated, I was immediately served the complimentary coffee cake. Their iced coffee came with a carafe and tasted like cold brew which I like. I tried the new avocado toast on wheat with salad and fruit. I surely missed reading the parts of the reviews about huge portions. After the coffee cake and fruit, I was starting to feel full then the avocado toast and salad came. Waitstaff were kind and pleasant and attentive. Top notch service. Food was absolutely amazing! I've never had french toast made with ciabatta and it was so good. A little on the more expensive side, but with the quality it's definitely worth it. Only downside is I didn't know they were cash only. Tweet is a classic breakfast restaurant that does simple right. I mean that as the highest compliment. I've never ordered a fish I didn't enjoy. The food is made with love and the owners are on sight ensuring each guest feels at home. When seated they'll start you off with complimentary homemade coffee cake. It's often warm and always delicious. I've dined in and ordered takeout. ..you can't go wrong. Tweet is definitely worth trying if you're within 20 mins. They are CASH ONLY so keep that in mind. After hearing great things about Tweet, my family and I decided to take my fiancé out for a birthday brunch there - and unfortunately, we did not have a good experience. While it was understandably busy on a Sunday morning, we were shuffled around the restaurant for 30 minutes waiting for our table, with each new person essentially telling us we were in their way. Once we were seated, we were immediately rushed into placing an order (with the added bonus of being called "honey" on loop), and though the food did come out pretty quickly, during our wait, I was forced into placing my coat on my lap as it was "too big" for the back of my chair (it's winter in Chicago...) and my purse was knocked onto the floor, several times. The food was solid but of course before our plates were even empty, our check was placed on the table, and upon paying, we were told "we're really busy today so you'll need to release this table." We spent longer waiting to eat than actually eating and felt more like herded cattle, than a group trying to celebrate a birthday. Needless to say, we will not be returning. read more

I enjoyed coming here with friends. We sat outside on the back patio. They do a job job of enforcing COVID safety precautions. They take everyone's temperature before they enter and provide hand sanitizer. The complimentary coffee cake was amazing, as was the fruit cup. Coffee cake served to your table as a seating gift. With breakfast you get a choice of fruit cup or seasonal fruit choice (today was baked apples) and then you get your order on top of that! I really enjoyed the Crabcake Benedict. My brunch partner had the vegetarian Benedict. Both came with hashbrowns. Eggs were poached perfectly, hollandaise sauce was warm - all perfect. In addition to obviously liking the name, Tweet turned out to be a lovely little breakfast joint that was truly unique and fun. It's a cozy spot, and you should expect to be up close and personal with the folks you are sitting near. We had a party of five, which they crammed into a table for four with a chair on the end after a short wait at the bar. The bar was fun and had a lot of character - the bar tender was personable and friendly. The cocktails are served in cool glasses with fun flair. One thing I particularly enjoyed was that they have a real loudspeaker system so that you can comfortably hear when your table is called anywhere in the restaurant. Once we were seated, we were surprised to find a piece of some sort of spice cake on the table for each of us. What a warm and welcoming treat. It really set the mood for the meal. And it was delicious. We perused the absolutely insanely huge menu and placed our orders. Then we were again surprised when they brought each of us a fresh fruit cup to snack on while we waited. I of course ordered the country benedict. It was good, though I was slightly disappointed that one of the yolks was busted in my eggs. I asked for cheese on my hashbrowns and was somewhat disappointed to find they just slapped a slice of cheese on top. Still, the gravy was delicious, the sausage was delicious and I overall enjoyed my meal tremendously. Everyone else in our party did as well. We would definitely come back. Walked in and was greeted with a piece of sweet bread and sat immediately. The place was large and super funky. Lots of awesome fun decor. Very LGBTQ friendly. I was super happy to find so many vegan and vegetarian options on the menu that felt intentional and not put together as an after thought. Our server Braulio (I am so sorry if I misspelled that) was very helpful in helping me make a decision and steered me away from something I almost got. After ordering he offered to move us to a slightly larger table as we were at a high top and would be getting several plates. Our food came out very fast . I loved his recommendation and my friend inhaled her BLT. We left around 11:30 and they were definitely starting to get busy, so I'd recommend getting there not at a peak time if you can, my friend lives nearby and said on the weekends it can be a very long wait. read more

Nice cozy place. I enjoy being asked my food preferences/allergies upon entry as you'll be served a pastry that changes daily. I order chilaquiles and a Bellini. The Bellini Peach was very tasty. The chilaquiles was very filling and lightweight, if that makes sense. I do understand people having spice thresholds due to health precautions but I may have anticipated to have more flavor but it just wasn't there. I'd like to return in the future. OMG!!! So thankful we had the chance to eat at Tweets!! Everything from the service, to the drinks, to the food, was an experience that made me crave more! The ambiance is also notable with a lot of what appears to be art from local artists. Each member of my party of 5 ordered different dishes and no one was disappointed! I had the Holy Tamale and oh man I now understand why they call it the Holy Tamale!! This place did a really nice job of social distancing during phase 3 , they take your temp when coming in and then also give you hand sanitizer . We sat on the patio and I felt most tables had about 6 feet. The staff all had gloved and face masks on. Now onto the important stuff - I have no idea what was placed on the table prior to us sitting down but it was some delicious cake tasting thing . I could have eaten that 20 times over. The food came out really quickly - the food was a bit bland overall , could have used some more salt. I also recognize restaurants are getting back into the swing of things . I had one of the best meals ever here this past weekend. Tweet is cash only, but it sure is worth it! My beau, best friend, and I chose this spot as our final breakfast on our Chicago trip. We had some of the freshest, most picturesque fruit cups that I have seen outside of a magazine photo. Neither of us wanted to eat it, but when we did, we realized that the photo only captured the beauty that the eye can see, but couldn't capture the taste! We ordered the pork chop and eggs, a breakfast burrito, and the vegan polenta with soy-rizo. Those dishes didn't disappoint either. The burrito was the best my BFF ever tasted. The pork chop and eggs were cooked exactly to my beau's liking. The polenta and soy-rizo was the best meal I ate while in Chicago!
