The food here was excellent. I had the fried chicken salad and a side of smoked Gouda mac and cheese. The mac was so crazy good! The ambiance was nice and I enjoyed the outdoor patio. The reason why I am only giving 3 stars is the service. It was a very slow Wednesday evening when I was here, but the wait staff kept assuming someone else had taken care of me and it took nearly 15 minutes before I could flag someone down and get a drink order in. They apologized and did say they thought I had been taken care of, but it was frustrating watching others get their orders and food first when they arrived after me. The passion fruit margarita will change your life. With passion fruit tequila and pear puree, it's basically just delicious alcoholic juice. The burgers are good and while waffle fries are quite the draw, I would highly recommend trying the Mac n cheese side because it's superb. The atmosphere is nice, however, it it's a little cramped. Staff seems to be hit or miss. The first time I went my waitress was awesome and made excellent recommendations. This place was okay. Not my favorite stop during my trip but the steak sandwich was pretty good. The horseradish sauce is a must though otherwise the sandwich is pretty bland. It was during lunch so I had water to drink so I can't advise on the drinks but locals swear by this place so maybe I should've gone back for a second visit. I went here with my husband and toddler. Super cool vibe on the inside and the menu sounded great. Brunch drinks and pricing were great. I'm giving it 2 stars because it took FOREVER to get our food. We go out a ton, with the kid. So it takes a lot for me to say forever, but it did. I won't be going back for that reason alone. (Small rant: Why don't small restaurants own the fact that it's taking a decade to get someones food out and send a manager over to recognize or offer to comp something?! Second visit to Twisted Fork - the first was during Lent, so it was fish. This time, I had a long and hard day at work, so I wanted a steak. I ended up going for their fillet, which was done properly, and served with mashed potatoes and fresh broccoli. For starters, I tried a side Cesar, which was just excellent. It was covered with tomatoes, ground cheese, and corn, and was served as a chunk of Romaine lettuce. I ordered wine by the glass, and asked for whichever red was the most recently uncorked. They were going to uncork a new bottle, but I told them I'd grab a glass from a bottle they had uncorked today, and it was fresh, and a very nice Cabernet to boot. All this for less than $50 with tip? Foo I say to those who don't like the Twisted Fork. I've had bad food in the Old Market area - Twisted Fork has been a home run every time. The prices are equivalent to what I'd pay in several restaurants in the OMA - and a heck of a lot less than others. They have menus outside - if you don't like the price, don't go. Sheesh! The service was very good. The interior noise level was acceptable. The food and wine were great. While I was there, another patron complained about their food - they ordered their burger medium well, and it came out less than that. The manager did everything he could to make it right, and after inquiring about whether the customer could wait, went to the back and got a new meal, medium well. No complaints, no satire on the customer - he just handled it. Good customer focus. read more

AMAZING! Cannot wait to return. The raspberry mojito is to die for! Appetizers are great and honestly my favorite part! My meal was pretty good, 4/5 stars. My boyfriend got the steak which in hindsight was not a good idea since this is not a steakhouse at all, and it was over cooked and tough, and they do not have A1 sauce so do not come for the steak! Everything else is fantastic though so don't let that turn you away. The rest of our food was enjoyable and the drinks were amazing. Service is amazing. We had a great experience at the Twisted Fork. They stayed open late for us and the food was outstanding. At other restaurants in town we were given a lesser "late night" menu and the food wasn't fresh. Katie was up beat and genuinely happy to serve us. The side salad that came with my meal could have easily been an entree with how delicious it was and being perfect size. We ordered some cocktails that were very tasty also. Later in the evening our party ran into our server Katie at another place in town where she let me know that I had left my credit card behind at dinner and how to get it and who to get it from the following morning. She could also recount every little detail and order that our party of 5 made many hours earlier. The Twisted Fork has excellent food/drinks and a staff that you can tell genuinely takes pride in their work and their customers. I would recommend them anytime! read more

I came here for an Monday afternoon outing with the girls. It was a beautiful day to sit outside on the patio. Our server Rebecca was so friendly and very attentive to our 6 person party. Everyone's food looked great. My friend couldn't stop talking about her soup of the moment. It was very filling. She did make the mistake of getting a salad also. The salads are huge but she said it was so good too. I got the portabella sandwich. I would get this again and tell others to get it. I would also recommend the moroccan mint tea. We found this place while exploring Omaha. Brunch sounded good so we stopped. Bloody Mary's were good....food was okay. Service was not the best. I think our waiter had been running late to work and was having a hard time getting going. I had the salmon scramble. It was alright but I don't think I would get it again. The salmon wasn't the freshest. My husband had something philly cheese poached egg...whatever. He gave it a B. Coffee was good. Bathrooms weren't the cleanest. Considering that we were one of the first customers of the day. It's wasn't horrible but there are numerous places to eat in this area so I would go with a different eatery. read more

I had the chili rellenos and of course the chicken fried bacon! To be honest with you, the bacon was the only reason why I came here. Very sinful, but oh so good! A little disappointed that they used a pretty cheap cut of bacon. Lots of fat but not a lot of meat. This restaurant has the BEST sweet potato fries. I love the food and how accommodating the wait staff is. The reason it is not 5 stars is that my boyfriend has always had a bad experience here, and we've always only ever gone here together. My food always comes out hot, which I love, but his "hot" dishes have consistently arrived on our table lukewarm. We do not know if it is really anyone's fault, but it leaves us kind of sad. read more

Stopped here for dinner on a recent family trip to Omaha. We started with apps and got the chicken fried bacon - underwhelming . Could barely tell there was bacon. Also he asparagus/pesto app .... i wasn't sure what to think of, surprised by the presentation and disappointed in the lack of flavor. I ordered the Mac and cheese with lobster - it was good but extremely light on the lobster - def not worth the up charge for it. We had a table outside and the patio was unkept and slightly distasteful. I went here on a recommendation. My only negative comment was we made reservations and when we got there, there wasn't one. However, we went very early anyway so we were seated right away. So it doesn't affect my scoring on this. We ordered the chicken friend bacon which I truly believe was manna from God. So wonderful, not greasy or fatty in any way. The peppered gravy that was served with it was a blob of nothingness. It had no flavor and the bacon was better without it. That is why I gave it a four star rating. I then ordered the pork chop with the gouda bacon gravy. Oh my good gravy. The pork chop was amazing! Tender juicy and cooked perfectly. The gouda bacon gravy was "funky" the first couple of bites, but it grows on you and the smokiness of it really added to the pork chop. The mashed potatoes, well, they were smashed potatoes, not much flavor there. The asparagus was a bit over done at the tips, but still very good. All and all I'd go back in a heartbeat. Used to love this place. Came tonight and got spinach artichock dip to start then smoked gouda mac n cheese and truffle chicken pistou. The spinach dip was very creamy but bland. The mac was very cheesy and flavor was great. The chicken though was completely flavorless from the chicken to the risotto Brussels we had to add the extra cheese from the mac to give it any flavor. My boyfriend and I though we would check this out for his birthday, and went there for dinner last weekend. We asked to sit on the patio as there were several open tables out there. They seated us at which can only be described as the kids' table - a very small two-seater - even though there was a clear and empty table of a more accomodating size. Now, you might be saying to yourself "well, they're saving it for a party of four of course!" Au contraire. All of the tables of that size seated other parties of two. A couple walked up shortly after we did and was seated there. Another much larger table off to the side also seated a party of two. Perhaps they had reservations, I don't know, but moral of the story, if you want room for your food AND your drinks, don't get stuck at the weird end table. The appetizer we tried was the chicken-fried bacon. It was tasty, and the gravy, albeit runny, tasted fine and paired decently with the bacon. It was mostly breading, which was disappointing, but it did taste pretty good. Our entrees were the chicken with raspberry sauce and the mac and cheese with lobster. They were just okay tasting. Mostly bland and in desperate need of salt. I was particularly disappointed in the mac and cheese, for what you pay for it. $11 for the mac, and $8 for the lobster. I basically had to hunt for what little there was - a meager 6 or so cubes of meat. It was also pretty bland overall. Basically, if you're downtown at a hotel or something and you have no rental car and you're watching your salt intake (but not your wallet), go here! Otherwise, I'd say go somewhere else. read more

It was just okay. The two items I ordered were nothing great. The lettuce wraps were OK. The lettuce was kind of wilting. You could tell the hot chicken wilted leaves a bit. My salad was kind of oily. I asked for my dressing to be on the side which was more oil than balsamic. And the salad was greasy. You can tell they roasted all of the vegetables in olive oil and I didn't really like the combo of the crisp salad with the soggy vegetables. When I go back? Probably not. Booked a reservation online AND called it in. Was told we would get in and be seated within 5 minutes. Arrived on time and the manager looked confused and couldn't find my name then said "Didn't you get my email? I told you that we couldn't seat you" Uh. No. No email. Not in my inbox, not in my spam. Nowhere. He told me to go wait and magically they "found" our reservation. Ok. Only one out of three appetizers we ordered was worth jack shit. The fried bacon is delish. I'll give them that. The food was just ok. Meatloaf was thin and dry, pot pie is NOT even close and was so greasy that shortly after leaving it sent my sister flew to the toilet. The Chicken Pistou was interesting. It tasted like grilled chicken topped with sour lawn clippings. Dessert was underwhelming and disappointing. We ordered one of all four and they were all "meh". The molten lava cake was a joke. Thin, dry, over cooked and there was nothing "molten" or "lava" about it. The table behind us heard my complaint and stopped our waiter. Just so happens they also had the cake and agreed that it was terrible. On top of the mediocre food and being lied to immediately when we walked in, the service was slow. The fried pickles is the only thing saved this from getting one star. We ordered the meatloaf with gouda mac n cheese and salmon tacos. The salmon tacos were just ok, but not worth the price tag. The meatloaf was the effectively a piece of wheat bread soaked in beef bullion (with a side of Campbell's gravy from the jar on the side. The mac n cheese was decent but skimpy portions. 4 bites and it was done. The service is SLOW to non existent. I had to go to server station to retrieve our own silverware and refill our water. After the meal was done it took 20 mins to get our bill only after I went and tracked down a server. We will not waste our time nor money there again. read more
