We stopped for lunch at Old Market and originally wanted to eat at another restaurant but it was closed on Sundays so we wandered around and found Twisted Fork. The decor was certainly unique, random at times, and we had a server who was attentive without hovering. The SO opted for the ribeye steak, which he found excellent. It didn't even need steak sauce. The veggies could have been a little more done but their mashed potatoes were very good, creamy and just enough. I had a mocktail - they had quite a selection of those. I really wanted to get a steak in Omaha but a lot of the highly rated places were way out of my price range. I settled for this place, thinking that it would be an affordable-but-subpar option, but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of steak I got. Now when I say affordable, it's certainly not going to be the under-$20 stuff you can find at a Denny's. The whiskey strip costs $23.95 before tax, but at least that's still about $15 cheaper than the other well-rated places I could find on Yelp. I got my whiskey strip medium-rare, and it came out very juicy with the perfect amount of pink on the inside. It comes with mashed potatoes which went great with the sauce the steak is topped with. The broccoli could've been cooked a bit more but it wasn't a big deal to me. I got a beer on tap with the meal and it just makes the meal a lot more satisfying. While it wasn't a mindblowingly good steak, it definitely exceeded expectations for a $24 dollar steak and makes an impressive meal. My only complaint with this place is the chairs. I think it's because of the floor, but none of the chairs are stable and you will wobble as you eat. read more

I came in from out of town for work and stopped by this place before a long drive. I sat at the bar where there was one other person. It was only 5pm. The bartender was great and suggested the pork chop. It was bone-in, cooked perfectly, and was super juicy. Experience here was overall ok. I ordered the chicken platter with mushroom sauce. While I enjoyed the mushroom risotto and fresh vegetables, both pieces of the chicken were dry and the mushroom sauce wasn't anything to rave about. For an appetizer I got the fried pickles, they were ok...the batter that they were fried in was a little soggy :/ I've had them before here and they were much more crispy, so maybe this dish is a hit or miss? I've gone here due to just strolling by real quick and pop in for a quick bite to eat-- no prior plans to specifically seek it out. If you really enjoy American comfort food, I'm sure this is at the top of your list to eat/try-- since that's not in my personal taste of preference maybe that's why I'm not so enthused. The last time I was here was probably about 5 years ago. I was impressed then and impressed now. I had the Grilled Chicken Pistou which comes with a grilled chicken breast topped with pistou, cheesy risotto, and Brussels sprouts. The pistou had a sharp garlic and vinegar taste. When combined with the chicken and risotto, the flavor profiles set each other off very well. The sprouts were also a nice side. Only critiques, control the heat on the sprouts slightly better since some were a little too charred. Though the chicken was cooked well and relatively juicy, about a minute less in the pan and utilization of the rest time would have made it perfect. We come to Omaha once a year for a big horse show. It has been so cold the past few years that we haven't gotten to venture away from the Hilton. This year is a sunny 70 degrees! So came down to a very crowded Old Market and had dinner at the Twisted Fork. First, despite the crowds (and prom weekend) the hostess graciously fit us in. I had the special - Filet w a burgundy mushroom sauce, asparagus and smashed potatoes. My daughter had a beautiful chicken breast w a pesto sauce, asparagus and risotto. Both of us thought it was delicious! And well presented. Our server Michelle was friendly and attentive. Manager checked in on us. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because my sides were a little on the cool side. But manager brought me more - even tho I said I was fine. Great service! Will come again read more

The menu yelled "creative gourmet fish taco!" The food itself whimpered "school lunch quality ingredients." The fish was passable, but the beans and rice were on par with a Hungry Man dinner. Had a fantastic lunch here today - the BLT's were great and the sweet potato fries were the best I've had. My daughter had the salmon fingers off the kids menu and they were fantastic as well. Loved this place! Went here tonight for my first time with a friend and had a delicious chicken sandwich. The happy hour appetizers are great (had some quesadilla that just changed the quesadilla game in my mind) and their margaritas are huge! Went for a late lunch around 2 pm. Waited five minutes to get seated, not because they were busy, but because there were no waitstaff in the dining room. Once I did get seated, I ordered a drink, but the bartender wasn't there. A waitress tried to make it, then went and found a bartender. Once my food arrived, I had to grab a napkin and silverware from another table. (Apparently, the owners cut corners by having the entire waitstaff prep for dinner, instead of leaving a server in the dining area to...you know, serve customers.) I ordered the BBQ bacon burger and regular fries, plus a drink. The food came out quickly, maybe because the kitchen forgot to put the bacon on my bacon burger. It could have also been the size of the burger - something that small can't take long to cook. My waitress offered to get me a side order of bacon, but the burger wasn't impressive so I decided to quit while I was behind. The BBQ sauce should be called insulin sauce - it was very sweet. By far the best fried pickles in Omaha (and yes I've had the Dundee Dell's). They're tempura fried, and come with a horseradish and black peppercorn dipping sauce that's pretty tasty. I have a hard time waiting til the cool off a bit to start eating them (and beware, they'll burn the skin off the roof of your mouth if you're not careful). The salmon tacos are pretty good, but messy, so probably not a safe option if you're wearing white. Also, vegetarians beware: the beans they serve with them have pork in them. I usually opt for just the rice, or if I'm feeling adventurous the bleu cheese mashed potatoes. I've had a bite of a friend's grilled cheese sandwich (sans bacon), and I have to say it's not bad. I plan to get it next time I go. I like that they put a fried egg on it--it mixes two of my favorite comfort foods from when I was a kid. Service can be hit or miss, and the drinks aren't anything phenomenal. There is one (Pretty Penny or something like that?) that tastes like a gummy, which is interesting. Bottom line: food is pretty good if you're in the mood for some home favorites with a twist, prices are decent, but plan on going out for drinks elsewhere after dinner. read more

I couldn't decide between the buttermilk fried chicken salad (since I'd been hoping for a salad anyway) and the smoked gouda mac n cheese (seriously, I have to pick?!) I opted for the salad and a side of the mac n cheese which ended up being a perfect choice. My salad was hardy and included two deviled eggs on the side! The chicken was tender and the salad dressing was homemade. The mac n cheese...I cannot even describe how good it was. We had a large party of over twenty people here, and despite that the service was attentive and good, the food was excellent, and everyone was well pleased. This despite having a few people with food allergies and some very picky eaters! I had the meatloaf. While it wasn't as good as my mom makes (and nothing is), it was really excellent. Even if you don't think you like meatloaf, I recommend you try it--you've probably just never had good meatloaf. For two or twenty, I think Twisted Fork is pretty great. I was in town visiting family for Christmas and came here with three others. Everyone else in my group said their dishes were ok, but I expect more than just ok when dining out - anywhere. I was particularly disappointed with my entree: the chicken pot pie. It was basically a thin chicken gravy with a few chunks of chicken and veg, topped with a couple of unappealing squirts of mashed potatoes (less than 1/2 cup total) that were not at all crispy or browned. So then what is the point of serving it in a cast iron skillet? All gimmick and no substance. I thought my entree was just poorly or sloppily made, but looking online I see other photos that look like mine did. A chicken pot pie can be made delicious so easily. Food looked great - pleasing to the eye - lively atmosphere We ordered the chicken fried bacon and it was insane - super tasty- hot, crunchy and bacony! Salads were good, not great. Good size portion- my wife ordered the "Parm Caesar wedge" and it was romaine, not iceberg, thus not a wedge. Kids menu was awesome! (Mac and cheese was homemade!) and my sons sliders were top notch. They changed the prices on the menus- not cool...they charged us for extra mayonnaise!!!???
