GOD AWFUL SERVICE!!!!! If you want a place where the wait staff treats you like you're invisible, this is definitely the place for you. This place looked great and so did the food.....Unfortunately, we didn't even get to try it. The service here is appalling! I've gotten better service at the DMV than this place. We went in and asked for a table for 2. The hostess passed 4 available tables and sat us in the back corner. Oh and did I mention they gave us the short table (Literally half the booth had no table. It was laughable) We moved the table to the edge so we would at least be visible to the wait staff. The hostess did not bother to help and then said someone would be with us to take our order. We waited and waited.....and waited. No one came to even take our drink orders. The staff ignored our table for 20 minutes while servicing every other table in sight. At one point, I finally thought one of the waitresses was acknowledging me flagging her down....but no she went to the table next to ours and then walked away, despite me waiving my arms in the air. There was no way she did not see me. Now before you say they were probably understaffed, they were not. I will point out some tables had more than one staff member helping their table at once and other tables received multiple visits from their servers in time we sat there waiting. After 20 minutes, we had it! We left the restaurant in complete shock as we were treated like ghosts waiting in another realm. I have never felt so invisible in my life. I made it a point to tell the hostess that seated us that no one ever came to our table. She didn't even seem surprised or to care too much about it. She made no attempt to rectify the situation and apparently we were not the only people who have walked out of here for lack of service. ( I read the reviews of others) Unless you have fetish for being ignored, I recommend supporting other local Gastropubs or restaurants who will actually treat you like a paying customer. read more

This used to be my favorite bar and brewery before Finney's came to town. The food was really good and I love the Buffalo cauliflower, sometimes ordering two appetizers of it for myself. The burgers are pretty good. Service can be slow at times, but overall was decent. What really sunk it for me was the past couple times being turned away at the door, either for not having enough servers present or being too busy. I wasn't even given a wait time or the option to go sit at the bar with my wife. We came here the last three years for our anniversary and this year we turned away. Energy like that sticks with you. I do wish they had more parking but overall I think it's just a poor spot for twisted oak to be. If they had the space they would've filled it like Finney's did. read more

The food is really good, especially Happy Hour for all you HH Hounds whom seek out deals and steals of F&B.... BRISKET FLATBREAD, a true plate licker - the thought of MY MOTHER looking over my shoulder held me back SO improvising with the crust did me a true solid! Staff very nice, accommodating, and attentive. You can sense early on two important things:1. Everyone working there from the hostess to the kitchen crew have restaurant experience and it shows even when a few incidents happened of just being slammed (or in the weeds); everyone chipped in and navigated the ship. and 2. The communication between front of the house, BAR staff, servers on the floor and kitchen flows very well and it comes through in timing drinks and plate to table service - very well done, no pun, for brewery/restaurant. Space was very different than you would expect from the outside front but when you walk in you know it is something special. Very nice exterior space outback... This is a great neighborhood tavern that we actually drive from Thousand Oaks to get to (we used to go to the Agoura location before it closed). Always a top-notch local beer selection and friendly staff and bartenders. Lots of bar and table seating in a quaint historical building built in the early 1900s, as well as 2 outdoor patios. The food is pretty consistently impressive (had some hiccups in the past but they've really stepped it up) with high-quality ingredients, hearty portions, and nice plating. Some of our faves include Waldorf salad, miso salmon, carnitas nachos, chimichuri steak sandwich, Thai chicken Flatbread, and Buffalo cauliflower. Great for date night, family, or big groups. Live music some weekends. Happy to give this place 5 stars and hoping more people discover it so it sticks around! read more

I've never really been a fan of gastropubs, but this place does pretty well in my book. The picture I posted was part of their weekly special. Lamb chops with scalloped potatoes and asparagus. Topped with a blueberry red wine sauce and sprig of mint. I have to say, I was thoroughly impressed. For a gastropub environment, there some occasional goodies that show up through here. I'd come once a week just to see what the specials are. Staff are also great and they're really fast with getting the food out. From what I've seen, at least within 10-15 minutes. read more

If I could give zero stars I would, my husband and I came excited to try the food and drinks on a Friday evening , it wasn't too late it was before 7 and there weren't too many people either but we sat in our booth for 25 min, no one came up to us to take our order or check on us. We tried to flag down a server but they just walked past us. We decided to just leave to go to another restaurant and on our way out the host who sat us down did not inquire why we were leaving so early. This place was horrible. Servers were nice but definitely stressed out due to lack of people working. We were there with my family that included a 5 and 3 year old who were very hungry. They ordered a kids cheeseburger, fries and pretzel and I ordered a cheeseburger while my husband ordered chili. Food took almost a hour to come out and once it did it was tasteless and cold. They also forgot the pretzel which we were not going to wait for since we were so underwhelmed with the food. OMG!!! We live in Ventura and came to Camarillo for an afternoon. Walking down Ventura Avenue we saw Twisted Oak and they were very busy. Decided to come the next day - found out they have a back patio area. Walked through their massive bar (can't wait for that to reopen) and had flatbread, Agoura Waldorf Salad and the lemon cake dessert. Amazing food! Wife had a couple of Cosmos (I'm not a big fan but these were great) and I had a couple of the pale ales. So good. Sydney was our server and she was great at suggestions along with being prompt in her service. Could not ask for a better experience and so looking forward to returning VERY SOON!!! read more

Great local restaurant. We did date night here this week and were pleasantly surprised by the food and atmosphere. It was packed. They had live music with was a nice touch. They have a very interesting menu with a lot of good choices. The buffalo cauliflower appetizer was perfect; crispy, flavorful and hot! The preach fuzz cocktail was yummy; a hint of sweet team and peach! We shared the delicious Agora Waldorf salad with chicken and a sausage flatbread. The salad was well-balanced, fresh and delicious! It's hard to find these salads around and this one was right-on! I loved the light vinaigrette dressing instead of a heavy blue cheese. The flatbread was crispy in the crust, chewy inside and the sausage was a standout. The beer onions didn't seem to complement the flavor, so we took those off, but the fontina was a nice rich choice for the cheese. This location has changed hands quite a bit over the many years, but Twisted Oak seems to have hit a right balance of food and atmosphere. They've definitely outlasted their predecessors and we are looking forward to returning soon. read more

I haven't written a review for a while, but these guys were so great I couldn't pass up the chance to thank them. I had called for reservations for Thursday because we had a large group coming to celebrate a birthday. We had a last minute date change, so I called and asked if we could move to Wednesday instead (at literally 2 pm and we wanted to be there at 6 pm the same day)... They were great... not only did they say no problem, they really made it no problem. We were seated outside on their back patio, away from the rest of the tables - perfect given the size of our group and COVID. The server was spot on, all night, they even brought an extra heater over to help warm us up a bit since it got chilly. I ordered the Ol Smokin' Joe, which - I've had via delivery many times since they opened and it was great then, but this time it was phenomenal (being hot off the grill!). My family had everything from the PB&J Burger (yep, it's a thing), to the Diablo chicken sandwich, to the nachos, quesadilla, and even grilled cheese. Everything was great. AND - they came and brought birthday dessert just topping off the night so well. The manager came and checked on us multiple times, the runner came by multiple times, and the server was just great... We were in kind of a bind locating a place to have a Father's Day lunch/dinner with our neighbors. When I called, Robin the manager picked up and just told me how they'd accommodate our group and just ask for her when we got there. Twisted Oak and Robin and the staff there were so nice to and accommodating to all of us and our children. They made us less stressed about having 5 younger kids eat at the restaurant and they made sure that we were all good. The food there is always top notch and I would definitely recommend this place to any one out there. Plus we got to sign the tree! It's great to have another cool place to hang out at in Camarillo. Ordered the eggs Benedict with pork belly! The hollandaise sauce tasted like pure vinegar and the poached eggs were hard. The pork belly was a huge chunk of fat! I ordered a cranberry mimosa. Told waitress I could not have orange juice cause I am allergic to citrus. Drink I was served was orange juice with a touch of cranberry juice and sparkling wine! When I asked where was the cranberry juice she told me to mix it with a spoon and then it would look like cranberry juice mimosa! Two minutes later told her it had orange juice in it and she said well you asked for a mimosa with some cranberry juice also. Why would I ask for orange juice with a touch of cranberry juice if I am allergic to citrus!! Our waitress was named Brittany! Worthless! She then slammed us to the bartender! Which was uncalled for! I have given this particular establishment more than enough chances to rectify issues that we have had here and the owner never contacts us to resolve issues!! Went on a Friday at 6 pm, got seated right away. We just did appetizers, ordered coconut, shrimp, potato, skins, and chicken and waffles. The waffles seemed like they were premade and then frozen they didn't hold together very well. They crumbled the minute. You tried to cut them so you literally needed a spoon to scoop it up, you could not pick it up with the fork. And had that frozen taste to them. the shrimp was good, although the potato skins could've used a little bit more dipping sauces or sour cream they were extremely dry. This is the third time I've given this place a chance. Don't think I can go back. read more
