Crispy Chicken Sandwich! Fresno chiles give it an amazing bite!

Hidden in Old Town Camarillo, Twisted Oak is a non-negotiable stop whenever we are in the area! Inside, It's dark, open concept allow for a relaxed setting. Whether you're grabbing a libation at the bar or eating in their comfy booths, this place accommodates it all! The service and food are always top notch!

Came on a Sunday , and to a surprise they have happy hour everyday. We had a big group , 16. We had our own private table, conveniently! Everyone was happy with their drinks or beers. I got a dirty martini , not bad for happy hour. $10. I'll stick with draft pours next time. All enjoyed their meals. Service was great. The waitress was OK with multiple separate checks. Bathrooms were clean. Overall very good. Would definitely return.

    Twisted Oak Burger: medium rare

Twisted Oak is in Old Town Camarillo in a historic building that used to house a long established, local department store that dominated the commercial scene just like Webb's Department Store in downtown Glendale which for decades kept out major department stores until finally J.W. Robinson managed to slip in. Inside is cavernous with padded booths, long, communal Stamtisch, standard tables & chairs, long bar seating which is dominated by wide screen TV's spouting out sports programming. It's a stereotypical Gastropub with standard New American grub of the first quarter of the 21st century. Jona was our friendly, laid back waiter who would check on us for any other thing needed and could give us separate checks, no problem. 1) Roasted Brussels Sprouts: Blackened Sprouts were tough, fibrous, hard. My sharp knife could barely cut through unless I bore down hard. The high oven heat blackened the outer leaves, but left the inside almost uncooked. Strangely acidic with a bit of funky earthiness. Sweet diced sweet dates, bacony Pancetta, topped with slivered almonds. Bit of chile piquancy. Perhaps sautéing the Brussels Sprouts would cook the sprouts more evenly and thoroughly to soften the toughness and still leave it al dente. A more mild Japanese vinegar would give a cleaner, purer finish. 2) Twisted Oak Burger: Shiny, golden brown Brioche buns. Crisscrossed bacon strips that weren't overcooked to a brittle hardness. Requested Medium rare beef; patty was a dusky rose. Onions sautéed with beer; arrugula was missing in action. Blue cheese was timidly faint. Garlic Aïoli (ah ee oh lee) saved this burger from blandness. I added on Avocado for more healthful oils. Ordered the French fries crispy. They were, but not exceptionally impressive. 1-2a) Oso Rojo: Amber beer, toasty, acidic, softly sweet, refreshingly bitter, burnt grain, bit soapy. 3) Donut Bread Pudding: Rum Donuts, Bourbon caramel sauce, dusting of crushed walnuts, vanilla ice cream à la mode, couldn't find the chocolate chips. Comforting, starchy, sweet dessert. Except for the salads, the food here seems to cater to those who do not like veggies. The food leans toward high carb, sugar, fats, meat. After eating here I felt heavy, overly full, dull, and lethargic with even a touch of heartburn. Prices are very comparable to what is found in high priced Los Ángeles. 3 stars

The beef dip and Buffalo Cauliflower were bomb!

What a nice find that I don't think I would've found without Yelp, but we were trying to find a dog friendly place with a good happy hour, and luckily we stumbled onto Twisted Oak! With a wide variety of deals but the French dip sandwich really sold it for me and a nice selection of beers, crispy fries, comforting beef and a not too salty au jus made this place come to life (along with the live music). Excited to be in the 805 community and discover local spots to set up roots (get it like Twisted Oak is a tree.....roots?) I'll see myself out until the next one!

Our new favorite spot! We love the food, the burgers are the best. The staff help eachother out. I loved seeing that.

3.4 stars- I want to be fair - CSUCI Grad weekend :/ Very slow service. It took such a long time to just get to order our food then to get the food .. all together over two hours. I understand, I get it sometimes people call out but this was bad. Very bad. It's a big restaurant and it was not packed from what I could see. They had live music ! A plus! I just felt like they kept saying sorry but didn't truly care because they'd say ... "We have a few graduations." Then forget about us. We should've left as we weren't really tended to. We were so patient. After all the waiting they wanted to charge $1 per person to cut the cake brought for our grad. Our own plates and utensils were brought. We didn't need staff to cut it as a Bundt and pretty easy to do by us. It's a cool place, very spacious with tons of seating but definitely understaffed. It is locally owned , so I do not want to be too rough with my review. Food was ok. I just had nachos and two beers. The beers were super cold which is a plus. My friends liked their meals. I'd return in the future and update my review if I have a better experience :) An automatic 18% gratuity is added despite the level of service for large groups. Please be aware and understand that service charge.

A group of 14 looking for a spot to have a celebration dinner and conversation. Twisted Oak was the perfect spot. They held the back room for us - fairly private and fairly quiet. I ordered the mushroom flatbread ($16). My wife got the forager burger ($18.50). Both were delish! Despite being a large group, Julie, our server, got all the orders correct. Our water glasses were kept full. Service was excellent.

    Truffle fries!

This was great. We were contemplating on dinner and this came up. It was great they had good drink selection and good service. It wasn't busy very much. One of the 2 flaws is how long the wait for food was. We didn't wait too long but it was fine. The second is no kids menu. Our family was struggling to find an option for our picky child. But overall food was amazing and I would come back!

    Thick Cut Reuben Sandwich
    Colin O.

My Fiance found this place on a trip up north. Glad we stopped by. That thick cut rueben sandwich was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. Messy but really tasty. She got the PB and J burger and she really liked it. The flatbread was also good. Nice combination of flavors with the flatbread. Will deftly be back here if i am in the Oxnard area

    Chimichurri Steak Sandwich

Our waiter was super sweet. It didn't seem super busy but the service was definitely slow. I'm going to be super honest but I was super disappointed with both sandwiches. They tasted so bland and they were lacking so much flavor. It sucks because i've heard good things and read the reviews before eating here. I would be willing to try again for happy hour. But for regular price sandwiches to be bland no thank you

Tarantula Hill Brewing is probably the most popular place to get drinks in the Thousand Oaks and Westlake/Agoura area. Don't ever expect it to be quiet because they'll have live bands, high school reunions, to even little kids birthday parties because of the ice cream store that they have at the back. What's nice, though, is that they have a brewing beer line and on the other side of the place, they have more cocktails and mocktails with an ice cream store in the back. Both times that I've been here, my boyfriend has gotten a beer while I will explore the cocktails menu. My boyfriend also likes that you can sample the beers and sours to see if you'd be interested in getting a full drink. They have a lot of good basic drinks, as well as the frozen blood orange margarita, which is my favorite and packs a punch. The first time we went, security wasn't really present, but it was during a weekday while when we went on a Saturday night, we noticed that security was going around giving wristbands. The only time we've had an issue is when we went the most previous time on a Saturday night and because their frozen margarita machine was being serviced, it was taking longer than usual to get my drink. When we first went to order, they said that they would be ready in 10 to 15 minutes so after 15 minutes, we went back to check again. A different worker told us that it would be another 15 minutes and then it should be ready shortly, so we waited again another 15 minutes and noticed that the machine still wasn't working. You end up feeling bad as a customer having to keep asking about something because you're not being updated or communicated to. It sucks because in the end, we ended up having to wait an hour or so in total just to get one drink, and by that time, my boyfriend had already drank two beers. I ended up having to get in line again and waiting behind a long line of people which took over 20 minutes just to get told that the frozen drinks had been ready for a while even though we had consistently been checking. When it comes to customer service, no one really seemed to care that we had to wait over an hour for one drink, as I know that they were swamped, but no consideration was present at all. I'm glad that when I finally got the drink that it was good, but because it was a frozen one apparently they had also made one on the rocks at the same time just in case the machine STILL wasn't ready after an hour (although we had been told that it would be ready in 10 to 15 minutes). We were upset to see that when we went to close out our tab, they put both the on the rocks and frozen margarita on our bill even though I had just wanted the one frozen blood orange margarita. All in all, it's nice that we have a place like Tarantula Hill in the Thousand Oaks area, but it's moments like those that discourage me from coming again in the future. If Tarantula Hill Brewing can find a better balance of handling the Friday to Sunday rush with people, then I feel like they would have a better loyal customer base and I'd love to keep being one of them.

We ordered a Two Trees Burger through DoorDash. DoorDash describes it as a **two-patty burger on a…read morebun with cheddar cheese, pickle, onion, lettuce, tomato, and sauce.** We selected to hold the toppings except for the cheddar and pickles. What we received was a **single patty with shredded white cheese and guacamole on sourdough bread.** Not even remotely what we ordered. My husband took it back and was told, "No, this IS the Two Trees Burger." He explained that it was not what we ordered. The server took it back to the cook, who apparently just took the same burger and threw it onto a bun. My husband had to go back in **a THIRD time** and explain again that the order was supposed to be a DOUBLE patty burger on a bun with cheddar and pickles only. The burger went back to the cook again, who scraped off the guacamole, threw some pickles on the bottom, and then tossed the order onto the counter, clearly irritated. At that point, my husband gave up and just took it. I called the restaurant and asked for a manager. I spoke with Junior, who said he was a manager. Before explaining what DoorDash showed, I asked him, "What comes on your Two Trees Burger?" Interestingly, **he described the burger we had initially received**--the single-patty burger with the completely different ingredients. When I explained what DoorDash lists as the Two Trees Burger, his response was, **"We have no control over what DoorDash puts on their site."** That response was probably the most frustrating part of this entire experience. This restaurant has a direct link to DoorDash from its own website (and yelp!) and is accepting and fulfilling orders placed through DoorDash. If your third-party menu is advertising a completely different product under the same name, that is something the restaurant should be concerned about and work to correct--not simply tell a customer it isn't your responsibility. I also explained that the cook seemed irritated when my husband repeatedly tried to get the order corrected. Junior immediately told me that wasn't true and said he was right there when it happened. So instead of listening to a customer who had already received the wrong order and had to make THREE attempts to have it corrected, the response was simply to deny our experience. I even checked the restaurant's own website afterward. The version of the Two Trees Burger that Junior described--and confirmed they serve--isn't even listed on their website. Yet apparently it is different from the Two Trees Burger they are selling through DoorDash under the exact same name. The original mistake could have been resolved easily. What made this a one-star experience was everything that happened afterward: the wrong order, the first "correction" still being wrong, the second "correction" consisting of scraping ingredients off the same burger, the cook's attitude, and finally a manager who took absolutely no responsibility for any part of the experience. We cannot possibly be the first customers to order this burger through DoorDash and receive something completely different from what is advertised. Completely disappointed and dissatisfied. We will not be back. **Buyer beware, especially if ordering this restaurant through DoorDash. Apparently they're happy to accept the orders, but when their DoorDash menu doesn't match what they're actually serving, suddenly it's "DoorDash's" responsibility.** No wonder this place has gone so downhill. FOLLOWING IS MY RESPONSE to the owners reply... I/we never said there was "arguing" or a "REFUSAL to correct." My images clearly show an INACCURATE description. While I can appreciate a business owners attempt to review and resolve a less than stellar review, STILL the actual issue is not resolved and we are being questioned now about whether or not WE even ordered the correct item? No it was never the Smashburger. The gaslighting from the phone call with Junior to the owner/manager response here is, palpable. Pun intended. That's wonderful you're doing so great. I'm happy to have given this platform via my review for you to brag about your business. Cheers indeed. I will continue to brag about the poor encounter myself.
