As a vegetarian who chooses vegan options as much as possible, I normally skip airport food and just plan on bringing lots of food with me when flying -- not so easy when a layover is involved or if a flight is delayed. With an almost two hour layover in Dallas, I figured I might as well look to see if there was anything decent to eat in the terminal. Lots of cheesy, bready things but nothing caught my eye until I spied the Vegabond burger here. I asked if it was vegan and was told yes. It sounded interesting because it was housemade with quinoa and black beans. My husband and I decided to split it along with an order of fries. We ordered beers from the bar and received our order minutes later. The burger looked good, but when I tried to cut it in half, it crumbled into several pieces so we had to eat it with forks. The flavor was awesome -- crunchy from the quinoa, hearty from the black beans, creamy from the avocado, and a little spicy from the sriracha. The fries were hot, crispy, and delicious. This was one of the crumbliest veggie burgers I've ever eaten so I recommend grabbing a fork and more napkins than you think you'll need because it's messy to eat. If I'm here again in the future, I'll be back for another one! read more

This used to be one of my favorite spots in DFW, hadn't been there in a long while and was quite disappointed. Service was great but the fun ambiance is gone. Right as I was ordering a the Lots-a-shroom burger I noticed the order cook taking fries from a takeout tray instead of the heated tray below. Then saw the fry cook take fries that had been sitting over the fryer for who knows how long and put some in the take out tray while eating from the heated tray underneath (should've cancelled at this point but hadn't eaten all day and wasn't getting home until late). When I got my order a few minutes later the burger was barely warm and the fries were cold just about regretted skipping McD's. read more

I was a little skeptical about this place after reading the reviews but I was hungry and really wanted a burger so I took a chance. Glad I did!!! I ordered the Freshman 15 burger. This burger had smashed fries on top, melted cheddar, fried egg & bacon with lettuce and tomato. Then to top it off I added bbq sauce as well! The burger was perfectly cooked, well seasoned and moist. There wasn't too much grease either. The hand cut fries were very good as well. I typically don't eat fries but these were good. They reminded me of when my mother made homemade fries. I ate the fried with the ancho chili ketchup...(I think that is what that was)....it was the perfect combination. Thank you Twisted Root for having a great quality burger and fries that didn't cost me $25 or upset my stomach! read more

I came here after walking around terminal A because this place was easy? I saw the menu and I thought it was a bit pricey for just a burger but I thought it wasn't bad to at least try and see what it was about. The burger size was a little bigger than normal burgers, but otherwise that's about it. I ordered the freshman 15 and it wasn't bad. But after the fact, I should've ordered the Western. If you like spicy food, I would suggest to get that instead. I mean your burger is going to range from $9-11 might as well go for the top dollar burger. So what else you get with your burger? Well...that's about it. They do offer free pickles though that is marinated with a different types of flavors. There's some that are spicy, some that are more sweet than other, etc. Overall it's not bad. The size of the burger is pretty good and tasty. I don't know if you'll get anything cheaper especially in an airport. If you want a burger, you won't be disappointed if you choose this place. read more

I only came here because it was near my gate and I thought that my $12 voucher (numerous delays over one extra day in Transit) would cover my burger and fries. It did not. I ended up paying more than double that for a cold, partially cooked patty that took a long time and I had to chase down. No condiments. No service. Marginally clean space. I'd give this place fewer stars if it were possible. read more

Missed my connection so I needed a drink and some grub. I totally came here because I thought their twisted milkshakes had alcohol! Much to surprised when I asked If the milkshakes were strong the bartender told me gay they were regular shakes. Lol The burgers looked pretty good so why not? Started with a Hennessy and Coke. Ordered the Spicy Goat with the bartender's suggestion. Food comes out super quick. I didn't really taste the spiciness of the chipotle sauce but the goat cheese was a smooth flavorful taste. The patty itself was decent but nothing special. Tasted like a pre-made burger that they didn't add any seasoning to. Luckily the toppings were an override to the blandness of the burger. The fries were pretty tasty so I appreciated that. Let's talk about these drinks. I wasn't thinking about airport prices so I ordered exactly what I wanted. First was Hen and Coke ($14). My second drink the bartender asked if I wanted a double and I answered with a "sure,why not". Well, that sure why not had a price tag of $21!!! Sheesh. Overall, good place. A bit pricey for my taste but that may not be a fair statement since I don't typically eat at the airport. read more

Had a layover in terminal A and found this hidden gem. We got the Classic and Western with cheese fries, both were delicious. The inside is small but cute and fun. Has a full service bar if you need a little drink. Samia was the lady who took our order and even came by to collect our plates and ask how everything was. A quick burger was all I needed here in Terminal A. Facing some delayed flight dilemmas, my nose naturally followed the smell of grilled meat coming from nearby Gate A25. Ah... here is the Twisted Root! The main thing that you're going to find here are gourmet burgers. Their menu consists of around eight different burgers to choose from including your standard cheese burger to some with more lavish ingredients. I spotted my Portabella Mushroom Swiss Burger ($9) and added a side of thick cut fries ($4) to complete my meal. They didn't ask how well you wanted your meat so I presumed that it'd be a medium across the board. My burger ended up being fairly basic but did hit the right spot in terms of hunger pains. My fries however were definitely over-salted, making them difficult to eat. I ended up throwing away half of my fries stash because my mouth had gotten incredibly dry by that point. So overall it's a decent burger if you're looking for one in Terminal A. I'd probably look for something else to eat the next time I have a long delay or layover in Terminal A. read more

I'm always on the lookout for a turkey burger so I was very excited to see the Happy Pilgram burger here. It was delicious and a nice refreshing Yeungling (which I can't get in AZ) hit the spot while waiting for my flight home. The manager Sam was nice as were all of the staff here!! I stopped in, and it was 5 minutes past breakfast time. However, the server Mariam told me it was ok and asked what sandwich I wanted. The order only took about 5 minutes and she delivered it to my table. Imagine my surprise when the sandwich was actually good tasting and was fresh. You don't always find great food at the airport, but if you are at DFW, stop in and them a try. read more

Well I was going on a business trip to Little Rock, Arkansas, on Saturday April 20th..... I thought that restaurant looked clean, and the customer service was great, ..... I believe her name was Marquita, cause that was name on my recipe, she was black lady with a blue and white spotted bandana, and a black visor cap on. .... N*E*Ways there were 2 people in Front and 1 or 2 people behind me, she was the only person person in front doing the cashiering, and serving, even though I seen 3 other employees in the back, looked like just standing around, besides the one on the grill...... N*E*Ways, the customer in front, of me looked like he was causing a lot of problems, she was with him for At least and 5 mins, and it behind fought its because he was undecided, about anything, she even made some suggestions, and finally he made his purchase.... he was getting on my nerves..... and I give her props, she never, gave attitude, or anything, she was always smiling, and being polite, she had a positive attitude..... then it was my turn, all I ordered was a Kevin Bacon burger and some fries... she up sell and ever thing..... I didn't even want anything to drink, so she offered me a water cup, and so I took it.... well her last customer was an elderly couple, and since they were the last customer, and they were already seated, she took them there meal...... a regardless of how busy it was she kelpt smiling, and apologizing for the wait, which I don't think it took to long to get my food, considering she was doing everything by herself..... then at the last minute another employee showes up, but she goes straight to the back ........ but the burger was good, Cuz I told her not so crispy bacon, and that was I got, and fries was fresh and hot, but just not enough seasoning, but they were still good so no complaint there..... I seen her make a chocolate shake for a customer, it looked so good, so I had to have 1 for myself, and trust me it was good...... I would like to take a moment to recognize Mariam at Twisted Root Burger Company. She is absolutely wonderful to deal with. Mariam is very nice, very friendly, and always welcoming to everyone who comes through the door. I've seen Mariam working there longer than most, so I've had the chance to watch how consistently she treats people with kindness and professionalism. A lot of people have come and gone over time, but Mariam has remained someone who truly represents the restaurant in the best way possible. She always takes the time to ask you exactly what you want and how you want it. If you ask for crispy bacon, she'll make sure you get fresh, crispy bacon just the way you like it. She really cares about making sure the food comes out right and that every customer is satisfied. What really makes Mariam stand out is that she cares about people beyond just the food. She'll have genuine conversations with customers, asking how they're doing, how their day is going, or even how their flight was. If someone seems like they're having a rough day, she'll go the extra mile to put a smile on their face. That level of thoughtfulness and professionalism is rare. First class people, would be an under statement. I would give them 10 stars if possible not just five . Amazing people who are collectively have formed an atmosphere of respect to one another and love for their clients. Starting with Ms: Nermine Mosad who is personable, and professional with impactful smile. So I'm flying from Montana to Syracuse (NY) and for some reason my flight goes through Dallas. I had a really short layover so I grabbed a stale packaged to-go salad from someplace, but then I got to my gate and found out my flight was delayed and I really wanted a fresh salad so I stopped at Twisted Root Burger Co. and had the freshest, tastiest salad that totally made up for my flight delay. The cashier happily helped me with my order and the salad came out quickly. While I was enjoying it, I noticed families playing card games, couples enjoying a meal together, and a generally calm and fun atmosphere. If this place were on the corner of my street, I would go there regularly. Kudos to manager Ricardo and his staff for a great experience. read more

Came to Twisted Root on a layover and was very pleasantly surprised. I don't eat meat but was craving a good veggie burger, and got one! Quinoa, brown rice, black bean-based and incredibly tasty!! But not only was the patty tasty, it was delivered very neatly in two halves, with very fresh toppings. On top of it all, the service was INCREDIBLE. I assume it was the manager who took my order and was supremely nice, manning the register and making rounds around the dining area checking on everyone and cleaning tables. Shenouda is probably the best person I've ever met. He needs a raise ASAP. His smile brightened up my day and he was super duper awesome!!!!!!!!!!!! Help my man out and move him up the chain in your Twisted Root Burger Co. He won't let you down, he didn't let me down, he lets nobody down. I flew all the way from Iowa just to have a sweet taste of the burger that Shenouda made me. 10/10 would recommend but only if my boi takes the orders. I would like it if he was my brother but unfortunately that can't happen :( But here is what can happen! He can become CEO of the company!!!! I have a gluten allergy and I always enjoy the food, service and speed I get my food at Twisted Root. This day I just had a memory lapse and didn't specify a gluten free bun and didn't figure it out until I received the burger. Completely my fault and not the staff's fault. I went back and paid for another burger with a gluten free bun this time explaining to the staff it was not their fault. The manager apparently heard about my situation and refunded my money even though it was my mistake. This kind of customer service is lost at most organizations but not here. I will certainly be coming back and will be telling everyone I know about their great food and great service. read more

Got off a long flight not looking forward to even longer layover. Found this place on the way to grab pizza and decided to give it a shot, and boy am I glad we did. This was in the top 5 burgers I've ever eaten. Cooked to perfect medium, brisket was tender, onion rings were crisp and flavorful. There was table service and everything, it was way better than I anticipated, and the ambience was like an american pub. The only thing I didnt care for were the fries. Delicious meal in Dallas at my favorite salad/burger spot! Shenouda really charms the customers with his warm and courteous welcome and service. Also a big fan of their 80s alternative playlist ! I usually order the Mexican Chopped Salad and add a protein....today was a burger. The cilantro-lime vinaigrette is fresh and all the veggies are crunchy and perfect. Twisted root burger is a gem in the DFW airport. The burgers are excellent. Well worth the price. Two weeks ago we found this place during a layover. It was so good we made sure to eat here again on our journey home. Samia was so friendly and helpful. She even remembered us when we returned after our 2 week trip. Easy to find, nice music and plenty of tables. They can serve meals in Togo bags. Food is prepared fast and fresh. The bacon , onion rings and fries are cooked to perfection. Great atmosphere! The bar has an airplane wing above it! Very cool. I sat at the Bar while doing my work, and plugged in to one of 12 power outlets. Oh, and have a clear view of the landing strip with Downtown Dallas in the background! Seriously one of the best seats in the airport. The food was SPOT ON! I've been to several of the Twisted Roots in Dallas, and the airport location does it justice. They call out silly/current popular names like "Chuck Norris" when your order is read so you can come pick up your order. Well done Twisted Root, well done. read more

This was possibly the best burger I've ever eaten and certainly the best airport food I've ever had. I got the Kevin Bacon burger and it was loaded with bacon and bleu cheese. It was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. Also, I loved that they had Cherry Coke. Shenouda, Ramy, and David were all very courteous and knowledgeable. So often in airports, you get overpriced food that is disappointing and takes forever. Everything about my experience at the DFW Twisted Root burger co. was wonderful. The restaurant is great, and the staff is great! Shenouda and Geonge were very courteous and made the dining experience good and treated all customers with respect and worked to ensure customers were satisfied. The food was good, I had the Western, which was spicy and delicious. The ambiance of the restaurant was peaceful, and provided a very calm atmosphere inside of an extremely busy airport! I've never had an airport dining experience that was memorable for the right reasons. Great service, delicious & fresh food, and a perfectly clean dining room. I'm vegan and struggle to find freshly made options without making 8 modifications. No modifications, housemade vegan burger--filling, unique and delicious. After boarding a plane 20 hrs ago and endless delays, closures and sleeping on an airport bench this was easy better than I ever could have hoped for at 8:30 in the morning! Yesterday I had a quick breakfast, then popcorn for lunch and a protein bar and potato chips for dinner. Seriously, the Burger was very good and generosity sized! Dear Wendy on the cash desk. Your manner leaves a lot to be desired. We ordered two burgers but you seem to have issue with as we did not want onions. You sell warm beer from an ice well but refused to put ice in it and then tell us to take it or leave it, just don't bring it out to the terminal. I had a very quick turnaround on a flight (5 minutes before boarding!), and was incredibly hungry. Shenoudy took my order with a smile, and assured me he could have my food done quickly. I had a custom order (I'm very picky), and the chef made it fresh within moments. Everything was hot, well seasoned, and incredibly delicious! I definitely recommend the burger and fries! The food was excellent, I only ordered the cheese fries, and the Obsidian Stout beer but the fries were cooked to perfection! The seasoning was on point and they were as crispy as a fresh new 100 dollar bill! Shenouda was great and made sure we had everything we needed. I have stopped in many fast food restaurants at different airports and was totally amazed at the quality of the food and what shocked me even more was the friendliness and the personality of the staff. Rami was very friendly,funny and attentive. I may just fly to DFW for the Twisted Root burger. The chicken wrap with fries was pretty good and was my go to. The house salad wasn't great and I wouldn't try it again. The half order of the tuna was decent but I loved the pickled veggies under them and would have just had a bowl of those! I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here but having this inside your hotel for convenience is nice.
