:) Excellent! Lucky for me I got a date night at this swanky place! I ordered the Lemon Tilapia with Jasmine Rice and a side of mushroom soup and a glass of wine. The soup came first. It was honestly the best part of the whole meal it was so cheesy and yummy with big fresh mushrooms in it. I was impressed I haven't had that great of soup in a long long time. In fact I kinda really want some now, right now. The fish came broiled with a bed of greens, vegetable mix, and the rice. Dont get me wrong it was all very very good the fish was falling apart and tender and thick. The only Minus of a star here is that the lemon was to over powering they didn't balance out the fish/lemon/other spices well. I liked it, it was good.. just much more potent than the average! with that said. i had a great time I really did. Who knew a place like this could exist in port washington? I mean, no offense port washington, but this place is pretty awesome. It brings in the quaint vibe of the city and adds some Eco-friendly/modern touches. They have an extensive cocktail menu that rotates. At the time, I got an amazing cucumber-cocktail that my boyfriend was extremely jealous he didn't order. We sat at the bar, so it was great getting recommendations from the bartender. They also have a pretty good beer selection (probably 12 beers) for the most part all from micro-breweries in wisconsin. We had the coconut curry shrimp appetizer to start off. It was light and refreshing. This was the kicker and made us realize we wanted to eat our entire meal here. We got the kale stroganoff as the main dish. Heavy, but it should be known that we chose this. There was a VEGAN option. Pretty amazing. This place also has a ton of gluten free options. On a side note, the beet salad looked amazing. We didn't order it, but when we were leaving, we saw it at one of the tables and boyyyy did it look good. I absolutely love everything about Twisted Willow! The location is right off main street in downtown Port, absolutely beautiful location just a couple minutes from the lake. The interior is extremely homey. It either was or is decorated to look like the inside of a very ornate house. There is a fireplace, crown molding, and antique furniture covered with books. Pretty soon here they are going to need some new tables, I noticed that many of them have napkins stuck under the legs to keep them from wobbling. Not the end of the world. We were served by Kelly, and she was amazing. She was super positive, more than helpful when it came to helping us order, very attentive. Even if everything else had been mediocre I'd come back for the service. The food was great. The lunch menu was limited, but it had everything you could need. My fiancee got the meatloaf and I got the burger, we split the flatbread. Everything was perfect. The flatbread had some of the best homemade balsamic I've ever tasted, the burger was cooked perfectly, and the meatloaf was just like momma used to make. I can't wait to go back. read more

This place is a very welcome addition to the Port Washington downtown. The area is badly in need of good restaurants since there are basically none currently. We visited here after the place had been open for a week, and was pleasantly surprised that the restaurant didn't look, feel or operate as a new restaurant with all the minor flaws - well done! The service was good and actually knowledgeable about the menu. They also go the extra step doing things like hand wrapping the to-go containers with a little twine bow and labeling them. It's the little things like that which leave a lasting impression. The decor is upscale, but without being pretentious. They also welcome kids too. It's not the type of place you want to bring kids for a Saturday night because I feel it could bother other diners looking for a more private setting, but for midweek dining, I think you're okay. They do have a good kids menu which is reasonably priced and includes a fun little dessert. The menu is fairly small, but well rounded, and a lot of it is sourced locally or even grown by the restaurant at their farm. A few of the entrees are priced a little high, but overall not bad for what you are getting since they include soup or salad. They have a decent wine and beer menu, as well as a full service bar. Anyways, the most important thing - the food - is good. We tried their ribs, crab cakes, BBQ short rib grilled cheese panini, and butternut squash & carrot soup. Everything was good - not the best I've had, but very solid. The soup was interesting and tasty. It was a little sweet, and needed a touch of pepper, but still very good. The crab cakes were good, especially considering we are in the Midwest. The ribs were tasty - although not smoked. They seemed to be parboiled and they finished on a grill. The meat did fall of the bone if that is important to you. The panini was tasty, although I think it would have benefited from a bit more meat and a little less cheese. The kids meals were good too. Bottom line - a good first impression with a potentially bright future. All in all, a welcome addition to Port - a very difficult place to succeed. I enjoyed dinner here with friends last week. Their menu featured so many gluten-free options! And every person was happy with their meal (two had the Indian curry, one had an eggplant parm, I believe, and I had a spinach, mushroom pasta dish - I wish I had the menu to describe the dish! It was simply amazing)! The service was friendly and knowledgeable - and also thoughtful accommodating my gluten-free eating. After the decadent dinner dish, we shared the flourless chocolate cake - mmmmm - and then were presented with candy coated fennel seeds. We've not had the greatest luck with newly opened restaurants, but last evening, well, the folks at Twisted Willow in Port Washington absolutely knocked it out of park. The food was superb, the service was over the top professional and the atmosphere very inviting. Was tipped off to Twisted Willow by a friend via a Facebook post ... I loved the idea of a place that did a lot of organic and used local producers. Generally a win-win anyway, but this is one of the best dining experiences we've had in years! Bravo! read more

I have to say if you ever take that delicious chicken sandwich off the menu, i will probably cry real tears. It's the best i've ever ever had. My family members will come up and ask to order out the chicken sandwich too, i've converted everyone...i know pretty much everything from your establishment is delicious. This farm-to-table delight is an absolute jewel in the crown of Ozaukee County. Everything is locally sourced and the freshness in taste is superior to everything we have eaten while in the area for a week visiting relatives (we came from Los Angeles.) Whether you are a tourist or a local, put the Twisted Willow on your list of restaurants to check out. You will not be disappointed. We brought our three and five year old children too, and the "Little Billies" menu had all of their favorites. $5 for a plate of battered chicken tenders and fries plus dessert. Delicious! We left the Twisted Willow as four very satisfied (and stuffed) customers. Oh and if you sit outside they have cozy purple blankets draped over the chairs to keep you warm should it get chilly in Port Washington. But make a reservation for sure. We showed up as a party of four at 5:20pm for dinner and grabbed the one empty table outside. Every other table was taken with reservations. Go, go, go!! read more

Honestly, unbelievably good. The ambiance was great with the front room having cool lighting and a grand piano. The service was perfect and I couldn't rave more about the food. Everything was delicious. I just wish we had discovered it sooner. The BBQ salmon (yep, BBQ) and Ribs were amazing. The crab cakes were delicious, the salad's were fresh, and the dessert was mouth watering! Make sure you head upstairs for an after dinner drink or listen to some live music. Super cool spot. Delicious! Great little place. The menu is small and limited, but the attention to detail in each plate is spot on. When I see a menu that is 24 pages long I really wonder how much of that can prepared fresh and not frozen, but here you know it is very fresh and seasonal and to top it off its as local as possible. I think there are lots of people that would find this place intimidating, but go out side your comfort zone. Also, in typical American fashion, people may find the portion size small, so get an appetizer and a soup, and make sure you get a dessert too! All worth it!! read more

People want to love this place because it is the only high end restaurant in Port. But truth be told, the service is just average, like 2 servers per 6-8 tables. But more importantly, how is the food? Well, it's good, but not worthy of a high end restaurant. Example: the ribs were pretty good but they were smothered with sugary bbq sauce. Anyone who knows ribs, knows the only reason you do that is if you're NOT good at cooking ribs. Unfortunately, I've had ribs that were better at charcoal grill, for half the price. They really need to go back to the drawing board or this place will fail soon. read more

I've eaten here a few times when visiting my parents in PW the past 2-3 years and have never been disappointed. The prices may be a little more expensive than other PW establishments, but we feel the quality of the food and supporting a farm-to-table/local approach is worth it. Specifically we love the more exotic blend of vegetables/side dishes they pair with their well prepared main entrées. My wife has a gluten allergy as well, so we really appreciate how much of the menu can be prepared gluten-free. One tip: just make sure to specify you would like a dish prepared gluten-free when ordering, as the meals are not automatically gf even though the menu shows the gf symbol. The wine list/parings are a nice touch and the tap beer selection is great too. Overall it's our go-to restaurant for us to enjoy when in town (and one of my parents favorite). read more

What do you get when you combine fantastic, locally produced, farm-fresh food with exceptional ambience and top-shelf service? Port Washington's Twisted Willow. Those whom recommended the TW to me were spot on! The menu has something for everyone but it's their Twisted Burger that takes the prize. The meat TASTES like meat! The bacon and fried egg were excellent. We also tried their crab cakes. My wife, who's from Boston, declared them the best she's had in the state. That's high praise! Visited the Willow on a Thursday evening. Overall, everything was just OK. Ordered several of the appetizers to start: Salmon Bruschetta was nice - albeit could have used 2x the spread, Crab Cake was ok, lots of crab but lacked any flavor, Duck Live Pate - I wouldn't order this again - I thought it was terrible. We also ordered the French Onion Soup - it was OK but was overly sweet. I would have thought the onions would have been sufficient - but it appeared that there was some additive to make it even sweeter. For the entree - we went with the Chicken Marsala, the sauce was nice but I'd probably pass on this at the next visit. This was our third visit to this restaurant. Lovely atmosphere, nice bar and seating area on the third floor if first floor is too crowded. Place was jam-packed. The previous visits we were not pleased with our meals because they missed the mark on a couple things. This time we ordered the "fish fry" -baked haddock and chose the clam chowder and potato pancakes. Our clam chowder arrived barely warm. I didn't finish mine, and the waitress inquired why. She offered to get me another but I declined. The haddock was perfectly done in a wonderful sauce. Coleslaw was very well made. Potato pancakes were also good. My profession requires 100% travel so I am a different city every week. This week I am in Port Washington Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. A beautiful town with an amazing restaurant, the Twisted Willow. Twisted willow is a farm-to-table restaurant with an amazing menu all locally sourced produce, and a wonderful staff. I started off with a charcuterie plate and had their beet salad for my main entree both were exceptional. However I would have liked to have a larger portion of beets in the salad as it was mostly spinach. That being said I was still very happy with my meal, the service, and the Ambiance of the restaurant. I would like to give a special thanks to my wonderfully attentively server Juliana. My wife and I were in Port Washington for a weekend festival. She is a foodie and I am not so she did some research during the day and chose to go here for a late dinner. We were not disappointed. We sat outdoors street side and the first thing we noticed were the felt blankets draped on the back of each seat. Nice touch to soften the metal chair and provide warmth when the breeze off Lake Michigan makes the night air chilly. From there on out it was one delight after another. Our waitress was attentive and fun to banter with. The menu interesting and varied without being overwhelming. I ordered the "Almost Famous" meatloaf which looked as good as it tasted. The suggested beer was ordered and a good choice. My wife had the Wisconsin Four Cheese Caesar Salad. She didn't talk much during the meal which means she was enjoying it along with the glass of red wine she ordered. We finished the meal by ordering a Grasshopper (her) and a Brandy Alexander (me). Took us back to dinners with family at supper clubs in the 60's and 70's. Along with the thoughtful presentation of the check was two small packets of candy coated Fennel seeds. Nice touch. Delicious and all at a price that was very reasonable considering the farm-to-table nature of the business. We were tempted to have an after dinner drink in the third floor Tree House lounge. We did make the climb (motivational signage along the three flights of stairs were helpful!) and enjoyed seeing a younger grouping of 20-somethings enjoying the cozy casualness of this upper floor escape. We were in town enjoying a weekend retreat and decided to try the twisted willow. We we're told it would be a one hour wait so we went up to the tree house. (The bar on the third floor.) the bar upstairs is very nice and the bartender was very personable. Drink were reasonable priced. When we finally were seated, which was exactly one hour, the service and the food was excellent. My wife had blacken tilapia and I had the cod. My wife felt it was the best she had ever been severed. Went here on a Friday and had the fish. It was terrific. The lights were flickering a little bit off and on which was annoying but it was more later in the evening on the first floor when they dimmed the lights. This didn't matter much to the group I was with because we went up to the 3rd floor lounge. Todd was terrific and an amazing bartender. The feel of the lounge was very laid back and fun. Visited here an hour before an event that was walkable from the restaurant. They were able to accommodate, and we're glad we asked. Otherwise, we would have gone somewhere else. As per food, when someone accommodates for your request, don't order an entree you know takes a long time to prepare. We ordered a beer/wine and a beer salad over spinach with chicken and a Twisted Willow burger. Both came out relatively quickly, but not too quickly that you figured they didn't care about quality. This being our first time here, we were impressed by the service, hospitality, food taste and overall quality. We hated to make a quick meal and then run off, but sometimes you're running behind.
