I visited Seattle for the first time on February 18th from Colorado and stopped in Tyger Tyger. I met the owners, Ben and Matt, who provided a hospitable and friendly experience. From the pictures this place looks promising but in reality, it just didn't hit the spot. Service felt rushed and staff wasn't very attentive. Food was TOO salty, there are definitely way better options for szechuan food in Seattle, and I'm sorry but I wouldn't waste my time here. Excited about this new spot in LQA! We have ordered takeout from here twice now and each time has been a great experience. The employees are very friendly and the food was ready quick. Really liked this place! It was very clean during COVID, the server stood far away as he spoke to us and lots of outdoor seating available. The food was so tasty and very large portions for a great price. Loved the cumin beef, Dan Dan noodles (we got it with tofu), Sichuan tofu and eggplant fries. Had to cut our visit here short unfortunately due to a work emergency but man I've been missing that tingling flavor from a handful of restaurants in the Bay Area. My wife and I started with the dumplings and finished with the cumin beef and rice cakes. All three where great! Service was awesome (I regret I didn't get the gentleman's name). I'd honestly give it 2.5 stars. We had the Prawn Buns and those were damn good! But once we quickly ate those two, we moved on to the twice cooked pork and the three way fried rice. These two dishes were lackluster at best. Granted these were for pick up, but it felt like it had been sitting out for a lot longer than the 20 min turnaround time they gave us. Pork was rubbery and too chewy and the fried rice was salty and almost crunchy. Might be back for buns after a kraken game but too overpriced for the marginal food. read more

I have eaten here 3 times. All 3 times, the food was delicious, service was wonderful and ambiance was lovely! In that sense I recommend! But the reason I am giving a less than stellar review is because I ate here on 8/3/23 and let's just say I got SICK afterwards. Apologies for the graphic details but it was "coming out both ends" SICK in the bathroom. No - I did not order any alcohol and no I didn't eat anywhere afterwards. I tried to call the restaurant to give them feedback but their voicemail was full. I then tried to email them the following day on 8/4/23 and a month later still NO RESPONSE! A professional business at least ACKNOWLEDGES a customer's feedback whether they agree or not. In all my research online any G.I. illness is from either food not being prepared properly or from the chefs not washing one's hands properly so I HOPE the restaurant shares this feedback with the staff. I tried to keep the experience private by emailing them but since no response I resorted to sharing online. Hope management reminds the staff on prepping food properly AND keeping clean (washing hands etc.) And hope management learns to attend to customer service by acknowledging customer correspondence. read more

Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday and we weren't disappointed by most of the meal. We most definitely over-ordered but we wanted to try a bit of everything. The pork bao is great, a giant fatty piece comes with each bao making it almost too hard to eat since they were so big but very delicious. Also got the soft crab fried rice, that was huge and tasty as well. Can't go wrong with salt and pepper tofu, perfectly crispy without being oily. The one dish i was kind of disappointed in was the sweet and sour duck, i found the duck to be really tough and hard to eat with the bao buns provided as most of them seemed to have bone pieces in them (or if they weren't bone, they were just so tough that it felt like bone). The dan dan mein was ok, i've had better. The drinks were delicious, they don't have a drink menu but was able to be creative in making some yummy cocktails. I'd say, its a fancier Chinese restaurant but honestly can get something similar in Chinatown (and probably for cheaper too). read more

Oh sweet sweet lord. If you eat any Chinese food again, let it be Tyger Tyger. You'll be spoiled for life though, so proceed at your own risk #spoileralert. This is undoubtedly the best Chinese I've ever ever had. And it's not just the food. The entire experience is hard to beat. The interior is gorgeously designed. Hand-applied gold-leaf on the walls warms the space, while striking red pillars define it, and soft lighting create the intimate feeling we all need during the pandemic. The Chongquing Mala Chicken was perhaps one of the best things I have ever eaten. No joke. Really. No joke. The Crab Curry Fried Rice was right behind it. I couldn't stop eating. I'm not a tofu person, but the Salt and Sichuan Pepper Tofu knocked me off my seat. Don't miss the Local Corn and Chanterelle dish either! The season is wrapping up (byebye, summer! ;( ) And the Fried Coconut Ice Cream? Forget about ... DAMN. A forever-rosé person, we started with the Pink wine from Provence (yum), and then moved onto the Orange wine made from Savi B, En Cavale. If you haven't had orange wine, it's a true delight. They ferment the white wine with the skins instead of without. It's not for everyone, and begs for food, but if you have an adventurous pallet, please try it! Orange is the New Rose. Have eaten nearly everything on the menu by this point and it's hard to pick my favorite. The duck, chicken and tofu amazing. The Dan Dan noodles and asparagus as well. I'm from NYC and really only familiar with standard NY Chinese take out. But starting to get familiar with Szechuan, this is the best one I've had so far. Welcome to the neighborhood!!! Please excuse me for not having a photo as I couldn't resist devouring the moment I set eyes on the cuisine. My dinner included the Rice Cake & Bacon (super delicious balance of flavor - dish I may order every time I visit), Boneless Crisp Duck (phenomenal sauce that pairs perfectly with the texture), Rockfish w/ Mustard Sour Greens (loved the chili oil w/ added rice & the rockfish was cooked perfectly) and the Today's Greens w/ Walnut & Bacon (great side dish w/ an ample portion). Also, chased it down with a well crafted Big Gin martini. Super happy to see this spot added to the neighborhood as a well executed mix of great food with a solid bar program. We had the vegan dumplings, honey walnut buns, vegan Dan Dan noodles, the rock fish, and the cauliflower hot pot. I had green tea and my husband had a cocktail called "the dude abides". TLDR: terrible and inequitable service, uncomfortable setting We, a party of 2, showed up at 6:35 and were told it's a 30 minute wait. We were fine with that, we weren't that hungry anyways. Right on time, we get seated at 7:05 and are told its a 35 minute wait to get food. We don't mind, we mainly wanted to just sit and relax and drink water after a long day. However, no one so much as greets us after us getting seated, we don't even know who our server is. At 7:15, I finally flagged down a server to ask for water because we didn't even get offered that much. I got my water a few minutes later and finished it by 7:35, and no one stopped by to fill it. Still no one has stopped by to check in on us or anything. At 7:55, after complaining to my friend and telling him we would leave in 10 minutes if no one stopped by, a server refilled my water and asked if he could take our order. I couldn't help but think that it's only because he heard my complaints. We got our food at 8:05 and 8:15 (separately). It was mediocre and bland, and I actually found a hair in mine (wasn't about to send it back and be stuck even longer). At 8:25, he finally brought us a glass bottle of water so we could refill our own drinks (which other tables already had), at which point we were already finishing up our food and just wanted the check. During all of this, I saw two groups get seated after us. Both got drinks within minutes and got served before our orders were even taken, and one of them had even finished their food and left before we got ours. The only difference I could see between us was that they were both white groups and I was not. Also, there were at least 2 tables that were friends with the servers (also the loudest groups present by far). The servers had plenty of time to chat with them and refill their partially empty drinks, while we were ignored. We wouldn't have cared that much if it was just a long wait - its the fact that were not so much as acknowledged while others were served before us. Our server didn't even so much as apologize for the wait, something typical of the restaurant industry. On another note, the chairs at the high table we were at were incredibly uncomfortable, and we left very sore. It was also wildly loud (mostly due to the friends of the servers). read more

The folks who keep Cap Hill happy with their Dan Dan Noodles are about to drop a flavor bomb on LQA. We ordered 2 orders of Dan Dan Noodles, 1 with light Numbing Sauce (kids), and the Gung Bao Chicken. Both sets of noodles were perfectly spiced and sauced for what we requested. The texture was on point and, not gonna lie, I ate the leftover cold noodles while everbody else was asleep. The Gung Bao Chicken is my favorite to share with my husband because I like to steal the peanuts out from under him while we share the plate... but the flavor is also excellent and the dish is stunning with all of the chiles. I can't wait to return and have a seat at the bar, or maybe at a table in front of the red wall that surely will have many photo ops. read more

Aside from the very high prices and small portions, the food was way too salty and their take on "Sichuan fusion" was a bit of a miss; I prefer the traditional Sichuan recipes. Cooked to perfection and flavored with, what I'm pretty sure is, heroin. The cauliflower pot made my vegetarian dreams come true. Heaven.
