I got quotes from 4 and found out quickly how much of a pain it is to look for a contractor (one tried to upcharge me and I was pretty distrustful over roofing companies after that). Fabian came super quick for a quote; offered a pretty fair price that included the scope of work; got the job done quickly; and was responsive before, during, and after the process. They finished fixing the roof in about 2 days actually (one day for the roof, one for the gutters) just in time for the nonstop rain this time around. He added vents so that the roof would circulate air a little better, fixed up the shingles, and added gutters so that we addressed all the possible ways the roof could've caused the leak. I will say in between the process since I'm super particular he answered any questions on building requirements needed, difference between materials, and general concerns. For example, the intake vents that initially were replaced looked wonky, or had stickers left over and he got his guys to replace it correctly and clean it/fix it. I noticed one of the gutters wasn't draining during the light rain and he had a guy check it out the same day-- fixed it the next. So the job close to perfect, but of course checking the work helps. So far no leaks (it's only been day 3 of the crazy rain this week) and the new gutters are draining great. During the teardown, we discovered that one of the walls hadn't been properly constructed originally. Cesar caught the issue immediately, and all the leaks are now completely resolved. They also uncovered some unexpected wood rot during the process, but instead of massive upcharges, Cesar gave me a very fair and reasonable rate to handle the repairs properly. As part of the project, they installed sound-absorbing insulation under the new siding. We hired Oscar and SF Pro Roofing when the roof over our kitchen began to leak. During the demolition we discovered that there was extensive water damage and that the source of the leak as the walls around the deck. Oscar's team repaired all the damage, installed a new roof, replaced the waterproofing on the walls, and redid the siding, followed by installation of a redwood deck. At each step he came clear explanations of our choices and options for repair and gave us a choice of deck options. The team was polite and cleaned up the job site thoroughly when they were complete. The final result looks great and is clearly much better done than the original roof. I would definitely hire them again.

I emailed a few companies with great reviews and the owner (Arcenio) of Leon Brothers Roofing not only replied quickly but he came out the next day (a rainy Christmas Day) to make the actual repairs. He shared pics with me of the roof damage and the work he did to patch it up, and said I'd need a roof replacement within a year. I subsequently contacted Arcenio last spring and got two other bids for replacing the roof; Leon Brothers came in at the lowest price. Even with additional work needed underneath the actual shingles, I saved $4-$5,000 over the next lowest bid. Most importantly, I was very pleased with the crew, the cleanup and the communication from Arcenio and his workers. They were diligent, stayed on schedule, and worked with my construction crew and painters to coordinate the work in the optimal manner.
