The employees here are awful. I was never greeted, nor offered any assistance even though I walked passed employees doing nothing. Anyways, I gathered my items and went to checkout. The employee, named CALI, whom rang up my items had the worst attitude for no reason. She never smiled nor asked if I found everything ok. She only asked for my phone number, which I did give her. I asked to use a $10 of $40 coupon and she quickly snapped that it cannot be used for prestige brands. I said ok, can I use my 20% off coupon and she's like "I don't know". So, I said let me try. It took a few minutes for the email to load and I sat my phone on the counter so she could also watch it load. Once it finished loading, she tried scanning it before I could even zoom in on the coupon. In all, the coupon worked then she says "yeah right here it says prestige brands." I was confused as to why she was being so rude, but I still said thank you. She told me the balance and I paid, which I followed by another thank you. Cali again totally ignored me and started talking to another employee about an intercom page. I cannot stand attitude like that, and I most likely will not be back due to her poor customer service. read more

Such an awful experience. Love the company but with this location the customer service just wasn't there, I was repeatedly passed up and ignored. The employees seemed more concerned with talking amongst each other. I wanted to try a new foundation and would have really liked helped in finding that. Went in today looking for a new foundation and politely asked a staff member if I could sample it to try and she rudely gave me the DIRTIEST look and said "were not Sephora, we don't give samples" She was an older woman and SO rude!? I went to shop at this store. I was pushed/forced by this guy with nails and make up to get a credit card for Ulta Beauty. I gave him my correct address, he pretended to input my address in the system after the credit card application. Guess what; this guy was pretending to change my address. I did not receive the credit card nor the bill. So, I called customer service and the credit card is through Comenity Bank-very bad customer service, they verified all my information. And now Comenity Bank wants me to mail them copy of my driver's lisc, copy of my utility bill to a P.O.Box in Ohio. I am sooo frustrated. Please please don't get suckered to sign up for the stupid credit card. You will be so stressed out. The credit card is not worth it. The guy that works here does not have the integrity to tell the customer to call Comenity Bank to give them the current address and this is the old address we have on file to make sure to give to Comenity customer service. I got my hair cut at this ulta around a week ago and it's just terrible. Mindy was my stylist and I asked for shoulder length hair with layers and while I was in the chair everything looked like it was going okay and when she was styling it and finished she styled it in a way where I could not tell how bad the layers were. My hair is uneven all over and the layers look terrible. i totally prefer sephora as my main beauty store but this ulta location is super close to my house and convenient when i am on a time crunch. for ultas i think they are all pretty uniform and the same. this location is pretty standard and nothing amazing. i do find it hard to sometimes find someone to help me. when i did have some questions in regards to my super oily eyelids as not many primers work i asked an associate and she tried to give her best opinion, but i feel she was not as knowledgeable as i hoped. the other thing i don't really like about ulta is that they don't have samples which is unfortunate because me wanting to find a primer i hate having to buy something and hope they will accept my return as it is a waste of product. lastly, i started getting coupons in the mail and i got excited for $3.50 of 20% off my purchase... then as i go to the register i find out it doesn't apply to most products in the store. so that sucked. i think the only great thing is last time i went i saw if you spent $15 on ulta beauty products, you get a huge nice palette for free. other than that - just a place to get what you need asap. read more

Beware ladies! This place and its workers are just commission driven very mean people. So I walk...knowing what I want and picked it out and I'm ready to go. But then suddenly! "You look so nice today!" So I kindly deny her make up recommendations..and she questions me and begins to tell me how these products are on sale and only on sale this time. Got my hair done here. The lady was really rude. Her name is Mindy. She's good at her job but her personality is really rough. Her first words to me were "you never called me back!" And I'm like hi... nice to meet you too. Then she told me that my old hair stylist is bad and just trying to take my money. Very unprofessional. I felt like I had to tip toe around her not to make her mad. Not a pleasant experience. She called 5 weeks later saying I need to come in again. I told her my greys weren't that bad. And she was like "oh I'm sure they are" and then when I told her I didn't want to reschedule she literally said "ok bye!!" With attitude and hung up. So rude! She's good at hair. I have been coming to this Ulta for almost a year now and I cannot say enough good things. First, the Benefit Bar. Heaven. Sent. Dawn and Ariel are my go to girls for my eye brows. They both are EXCEPTIONAL and so sweet. Also so fun to talk to. Secondly - I bought a new face make up from Ulta about a month a half ago and I was nervous to try something new but I thought why not! It unfortunately made me break out and after trying to make it work I decided to take it back. I wasn't expecting a refund because I had used it. God forbid you don't want to hand over your phone number or email, you'll be met with repeated attempts to collect it before a final "augh fine." This Ulta location is great! The staff is always friendly and helpful and the store is well kept. Even when it's very busy I do feel like they try to get to everyone as best they can. They have testers even for a lot of the drugstore brands which is great. Their welcoming staff, product assortment, and deals make this store my go-to for cosmetics. read more

I had my second haircut with Niki in the Hair Salon. I would recommend this great stylist to anyone who needs a nudge to step out of their boring old look. She is confident in her styling, listens to my Input, and uses her expert knowledge to give me the best haircut for my hair and my lifestyle. We talked about a big event coming up that I wanted to look extra nice for and she gave me a few extra styling and make up tips! I also got great service from Jessica about lipstick. I don't regularly wear makeup and was overwhelmed at the prices and variety. She took my goal into mind and showed me options in my price range. She was very helpful and efficient. I have been to this Lake Forest Ulta many times, and I only purchase a few things when I'm in there, but just about every worker in this Ulta is just rude, they never want to help and they never want to give any samples. But the reason I am give it five stars is because of two people, I am sorry I don't know either of their names, I just know one of the girls has really pretty eyes, and the other one had dark hair, but both of these two girl have always made my experience in Ulta great, they help me when I need help, they let me know if there's a sale on something I'm purchasing (like a BOGO) and they have just always been very kind to me. I usually always go to this location to buy all my beauty products and have had a fine experience. Although today I had a horrible experience. I was waiting for someone to color match me for foundation and no one came over to me for the longest time, I had to search the store for someone. Finally a lady helped me and she was totally rude and didn't even take time to help find the right color to match my skin. She put it on her fingers, wiped it on my face and handed me a new bottle to purchase. The whole process took her 5 seconds. Sierra was seriously so amazing. I went in there just to get stuff for my eye brows and I walked away with all new foundation and blush. I've been using MAC for years and I've been wanting to find different makeup forever. Sierra did my brows and taught me how to do it and she even took her time to match my skin tone with different types of foundation and asked me what my preferences were. She showed me all different brands and even helped me with brand new brushes. She didn't make me feel rushed at all and she was being so genuine and sincere which made me feel very comfortable asking her questions. I am solely rating Dawn at the benefit brow bar. Not the best brow bar service I've gotten. This is my second time with her, and both haven't been the best. She isn't too friendly, and doesn't say the kindest remarks. While doing my brows, she made a comment on how hairy I am, and then proceeded to wax more of my eyebrows than I wanted to be waxed. Not the best feeling to have someone say that to you, then wax and wax to fit her standards. I am fine with my big brows! She also made a comment on how my face was oily... just again, comment that shouldn't be said to a customer! Also, due to her over waxing after I asked her to keep my natural shape, my brows are much thinner and lost all shape it used to have. I'm very sad about my experience, my poor brows! read more

I wish I had her name (middle aged, straight shoulder length blond hair) as I'd give her 5 stars. Checkout was another story. I typically try to give locations multiple chances before writing a review , so with that said I am not pleased with today's visit. The employee who rung me up, Christina, was very sweet and helpful. The unpleasant part of my visit was what seemed to be a manager or somewhat of higher position than Christina. She passed me multiple times without saying hello or asking if I needed help, which is fine I am an independent shopper. What struck me with this employee, and I didn't catch her name, was that she attempted to embarrass Christina with some pretty condescending comments in front of myself and a few other customers. This review is for the salon. I got my hair cut by Thao and let me tell you it's the last time I will ever use the salon in Ulta. I have never in my life gotten such a bad haircut it's uneven choppy and I have had several people tell me it looks bad. All I asked for was a blunt bob that's it. I even showed her pictures and told her VERY specifically I do not want an A line cut and absolutely no short layers! But apparently good ol'Thao knows what I want waaaay more than I do because that's exactly what I got. Also my appointment was scheduled at 7:30 and I didn't leave until 9 and had to leave with my hair wet because of how long she took. When I go to a salon I expected to leave feeling like a million bucks. Do you how embarrassing it was having people tell me how bad my hair cut was? And it's all thanks to Thao. This 1 star is because I have to give one... Disappointed in the lack of customer service this location (doesn't) offers. I bought products here once before and was happy with the girl helping me.(wish I knew her name or hours she worked) She actually took the time to educate me and show me how the products blended/looked with my skin. Today I returned to get more and asked "Iva" for help with the same foundation I currently own but needed help matching the right color. I also asked her about makeup primer because I was interested in buying. She seemed very uninterested saying "she didn't know how to match me because she didn't know how white I get"? then looked at a few color options and added one to a small area on my neck and said "that looks good" uhhh...thanks for the help? Beyond useless service and she then disregarded my request for help purchasing a makeup primer as I wanted some knowledge between two options and how they work, how much to apply.....I received nothing and left, I refuse to give this location my business. So I went to return an item and was helped by TIFFANY the Manager. She looked quite disgruntled and sadly I was to be one of the victims of her venting. I said that I wanted to return an item and exchange it for another. In an annoyed tone, she asked why are you returning this and I replied that I just did not want it anymore. She immediately asked, did you use it and I replied with a casual no. Then steam started to come out of her ears as she erupted into an assault of questions such as, "If you didn't try it, how do you know that you don't like it?" Should I have sarcastically answered her with some crazy reason such as, "I know I wouldn't like it because my magical unicorn (which I don't take out in pubic), knows if something suits me or not. For this item, my unicorn did not do her prance of acceptance but rather did her prance of disgust in my tiny living room. That's how I know for a fact that I don't like the item." I wonder if that would have been an acceptable answer to Temper Tantrum TIFFANY. But sadly I didn't have the time or the patience to deal with her attitude so I just answered her stupid questions. Keep up the good work TIFFANY! Maybe you'll be out of a job soon as that appears to be your goal. read more

After my experience today, I will not be returning to this location. I will drive the extra miles for any other Ulta but this one. I came today around 11:30am for the new Too Faced Star Dust palette by Vegas Nay. There is a free gift that comes with it...double yay! I was so excited to get my hands on this palette. I went up to the cashier, Reyna, and she did my transaction. She was not friendly and gave me my bag without saying anything about the free gift. I said, "Isn't there a free gift that comes with this?" And she said, "Yeah there is let me try to find it." If I had not mentioned anything, I would not have gotten my free gift because Reyna was too lazy and didn't feel like giving it to me. She goes to the back of the store and it took her maybe two minutes, not long at all. She hands me the free gift and says, "Thanks for waiting, I had to go dig around to find it." I said, "No problem, thank you so much." I walk out to my car and as I'm putting my things on the passenger seat, I realize a stain on the free gift bag. So I go back into Ulta and ask one of the workers if I could replace it for a new one because it has a stain on it and they gave me a new one no questions asked. Because of Reyna's laziness and attitude towards me, I will not return to that location. They should be giving service with a smile and any free gift that comes with a purchase. Glad to see I'm not the only one that feels this way. The customer service here is the WORST! It's near impossible to hunt an employee down.. and when you do... they make you feel like a criminal. Took me about 25 minutes for someone to answer my question. Turns out, that ulta doesn't carry the Beauty Blender brand. When I asked if they carry this, they pointed me to the generic brand. It's fine that ulta doesn't carry them, but the employees don't need to be so rude!! The line at the cashier is long as well. Took about 30 minutes to check out. Great place for a variety of beauty products but most of the time they are sold out of what you went in to buy in the first place. I always say I'll never go back but I hope they have stocked the shelves before I go in.
