The sales associate walked over to help and see what I needed and right off the back, I told her I was having some skin issues that I've never encountered before and she listened (I never got her name...shame on me) and suggested this line of skin products that were organic and could probably tackle some of the issues I was currently experiencing. Right away, I went home to do as she suggested, and here I am the next morning with brighter, tighter skin with the dry patches of sun exposure long gone. My make up does not look cakey and my face has this natural glow. It's this line called Juice Beauty. Also, another gal introduced me to dry shampoo and cleansing conditioners. OMG...cleansing conditioners will change the way you shampoo your hair. I always knew you shouldn't shampoo/wash your hair everyday due to all the chemicals found in shampoo. I gave the Pantene cleansing conditioner a try and at first, I was a bit skeptical. You leave the product in your hair for a couple of minutes and then the tingly sensation comes through....my hair feels so much lighter today and CLEAN. I love how Ulta has all these beauty products in one place and with the member points, you get all these coupons so it's great. read more

If you can, go visit the one at The District instead. I bought about $300.00 worth of stuff and according to their ads, I bought a bunch of things that had the gift with purchase. I go to check out and I have to remind the girl behind the counter that I have qualifying purchases (strike one), then she tell me "oh yes you bought... bleh bleh.." so she proceeds to look behind her counter and pulls a bunch of boxes and tells me "Oh we ran out... let me give you some other stuff". Ok so I'm thinking another brands promotion or something. She throws in a sample pack moisturizer. WHAT? Are you kidding me? (Strike two) At this point, I dont think that arguing with her is going to make a difference... Her attitude was PISS POOR (strike three). The customer service here is terrible. I've been here twice now and there are a lot of employees standing around doing nothing. When they finally waited on me the cashier got upset because I wouldn't leave a telephone number. When she gave me my receipt and I said "thank you" she didn't even look at me and called for the next person in line. I strongly recommend finding another store. I know I will. read more

Customer service is horrible here! No one on the floor to help. There was a line of about 7 customers and one only cashier. Not once did she call for back up or even acknowledge the fact that everyone was waiting. Their selection of products and pricing is poor compared to Target or even department stores that carry the higher end brands. I am extremely disappointed with the store. Tonight was my daughter's formal. She and I physically came into the store the other day to schedule the appointment. We spoke directly with the woman who would be doing her hair and makeup. The appointment was for 2 pm. We made it clear that we had to be out the door by 3 pm and she accepted that request. My daughter called at 10 am this morning to confirm the appointment. She spoke directly to that same woman and she acknowledged that she would be doing her hair and makeup at 2. We arrived just before 2 p.m. She "claimed" to have left a message informing us that she would not be able to start until after 3 p.m. I did not believe her in large part because my daughter's friend had scheduled an appointment for 1:30 pm and when she arrived they claimed no such appointment existed and accused her of making the reservation at a different store. Her cell phone record could prove them wrong. My advise would be stay away from this store unless you want to roll the dice and take your chances. I think the Ulta at the District is waaay better. There was a good selection of items at this Ulta, even during the holidays, but the customer service is awful. My mom had one question about a coupon, and one of the ladies working responded with a snarky "well, if you read the coupon, you'd see that this doesn't apply for this." First time here for a cut. Woman who checked me was talking to the stylist saying I was rude. I know she didn't realize I was sitting on the other side of the little wall and I could hear her. When she came back to the register I told her I wasn't being rude I just asked how long the stylist was going to be because I could see her cutting someone's hair. Rude staff. They don't even greet you or smile. I was waiting for a sales associate to ask her a question and she never looked my way and pretended to be busy. However she did help another lady who walked in within 5 seconds. She was supposably a makeup artist for it cosmetics or Benefit. This review is mainly for the Hair Salon. I just relocated from San Diego to Irvine and I made an appointment for an easy hair cut. First, there is another Ulta location nearby and I went to the wrong one, so I made it late to my appointment in this location. Mindy, the salon manager, was there waiting with a smile even though I was late. She was quick, efficient and did a great job. I must say I alway struggle to find someone who just cut my hair right (and to clarify, I have a simple hair cut, nothing crazy). I am so glad I found Mindy right away! After the hair cut, I stayed shopping around and the girls in the store were helpful and friendly. Highly recommend this place. read more

I live in the area so I was extremely excited to see an Ulta being built right in my neighborhood! Unfortunately my experience was sub par... Walking in I was never greeted, but the only employee that was visible was at the registrar having a grand convo, so I kept walking. The layout of this store is different then the Ulta at the district so I was wondering around looking for my favorite brand. Not once, in the 20 minutes I spent wandering and discovering new things, did a single employee ask me if I needed assistance!! I would totally get it if they were jam packed, but there was a total of 2 other woman in the whole store. I got what I needed and proceeded to the registrar. The gentlemen at the front told me to hold on as he helped a woman who just walked in.....are you kidding me? Lucky her.... Five minutes later he finally made his was back to front. I was hoping he'd ask a normal question like "did anyone help you today?" That way I would have been able to express my concern and avoid this bad review. But he didn't. He was actually not friendly at all, rung me up and I was on my way. I did receive a free cosmetic bag for spending a certain amount on Benefit products. Would have been nice if I was told about the promotion though! Either way, I love Ulta, just not this location. As a repeating customer and a customer service manager for a large company, I really and truly hope you guys work on your customer service. This is a review for Salon service only. I made a same day appointment to get a Haircut & Style after receiving a promotional offer in the mail, this was my first salon service at Ulta so I went in with an open mind. My hair was long, so I opted for a longer cut - in case in case I was unhappy with it I could go back to my regular stylist to "fix" it. After a short initial consultation, I was taken to get my hair washed. I have a thing about stylists (even my regular one) washing my hair- if you're going to do it, please make sure you give the nape a good scrub. So the wash was probably a 3 out of 5, and although the stylist commented on how wonderful their recommended shampoos smell, I could honestly not smell anything. What they excel at during the wash is the Up-sell - you'll hear all about their shampoos/conditioners and other Salon services they offer. On to the cut, there was a little more consultation at this point- I asked about the length and style of hair on some of the posters they had up and then showed her a picture of the hairstyle I liked and how I would be styling it. I did advise her that I both blow dry and flat iron my hair straight, so there would be no confusion about how to cut my naturally curly hair. Stylist proceeded to cut my hair and texturized/lighly layered my hair because of it being curly. I was excited to see the end result of the cut, especially after showing the stylist how I wanted it to look at the end. Note: although I had scheduled a Haircut & Style, the Style was not actually included and would cost additional to make it look like the picture. The picture was a long bob with a side part, nothing major or fancy. At that point I opted not to pay additional to have it styled, not specifically because of the cost, but because during the cut, another stylist/receptionist (?) came over and said that her next appointment was there. My stylist said she would be another 20 minutes. Keep in mind she was still cutting my hair and still had to dry it (and not style it). It suddenly dawned on me that the stylists are booked appointments every hour, so you're only allocated the one hour for your entire visit. I didn't ask further about it, so I don't know if this is standard practice there or if the stylists are allowed to book longer appointments. If you make an appointment, make sure to ask about this. Ultimately, this is why I will not be going back. For a first impression, I felt rushed through. My hair cut was finished and "dried". Without straightening it, I don't know how the stylist, or customer for that matter, could tell if the actual cut works or not. My hair was "dried" in large curls, which is the complete opposite of how I normally wear it. Admittedly, it looked cute leaving the salon (it had a 50's affectation), but I was concerned that it felt short, I could not tell the actual length. At that point, I did just want to leave. My hair was not completely dry-I could put my fingers into it and feel that it was still damp at the roots. I knew that it would continue to dry and curl up. A couple of hours later, it had gone kind of stayed flat on top and dried into a short mess of curls at the bottom. By the time I washed it, I knew the cut was shorter than expected, and that there was no way I could style it like the picture I had shown the stylist. The texture/layers look rough when I straighten it, so I'm stuck now trying to figure out how to style it. Without going even shorter and into a different style, I can't see how my regular stylist can fix this. I'm disappointed in the cut and experience. The stylist was a nice enough gal, but looking back it's obvious she didn't understand what I wanted, along with being pressed for time to complete the job. There were a few other 'red flags' that I'm not including in this review since they are not necessarily relevant to the actual service and end result. I would not recommend Haircut & Style Salon service at Ulta. If you're a man, one hour is probably enough time, if you're just getting a trim, one hour is probably enough. If you're getting a Haircut & Style, one hour is not enough. Also, why bother to call it a Haircut & Style, if they don't actually style your hair? Lesson learned. read more

Bad experience with their customer service over the phone. I wanted to see if they had a flat iron in stock before making my way out there. My first attempt the person transferred me to the salon, salon lady told me that they do not check on inventory so she transferred me back, I was on hold for 5 minutes and decided to hang up. I called right back and the same person answered and this time I specifically said, inventory check. She transferred me to the salon AGAIN. Salon lady recognized my voice, personally walked to the front register and told the lady that I wanted an inventory check, politely walked back to tell me she's transferring me to the front and someone will assist immediately, 3 minutes later and still no assistance. So by noe I'm irritated. So my third and last attempt to get an inventory check no one picked up. ULTA OF THE MARKET PLACE - YOU SUCK! read more

I've been to both Ulta locations at the District and here at The Marketplace! Unfortunately, in the 3-4 times I've come to this location, I have experienced terrible service. There's always only one sales associate at the register even when a line of 5+ people is forming, there's never any welcoming, and no one comes by to see if you need any help. Today, I came in and as I was checking out the associate was very rude to me. For that reason, I will not be coming back to this location. I went to the Ulta beauty at the Market Place on Jamboree in Irvine. I had sun damage to my face. I went to a short meeting of sorts with the group of ladies to determine if there was some way I could combat the sun damage on my face to make sure I did not get skin cancer. I was assigned JENNA and after consulting with her and receiving facial treatments from her my skin cleared and looked better than it ever has. She suggested some products that work perfectly. Several strangers and personal friends were amazed at the way my face looked and asked me to tell them what the world I was doing to attain the smooth flawless look. Really disappointed by the customer service here. There are more employees roaming around doing nothing than helping to clear the long line at the register. The girls not only ring people up but will pause in the middle of your transaction and payment to answer the phone 30ft away. Smh. Don't keep a paying patron waiting while you answer a call and may potentially have to look up an item. Unless there's a sale on what you're looking for... Am*z*n may have your product for cheaper and you can save some gas and the long line/wait. I got the it's a 10 leave in conditioner for $10 more in store than online which also offers free prime shipping. I'll go back to ULTA, but maybe at the District instead, as needed. read more

The first time, no one helped me--walked around for 10 minutes but no one was around. I went to this Ulta for the first time today and my experience could have been better. There weren't many workers that seemed willing to help, and only one asked me if I needed help, but didn't stop walking in the other direction as she asked. I also noticed that the bigger and more expensive brand section was clean and organized, but when I went to the more affordable foundation it was a mess. All the foundations were mixed up, the testers were all over the place, and it just wasn't taken care of. Someone who isn't paying attention would accidentally buy the wrong shade if they are just going off of the columns in front of them. There are also no mirrors or wipes on that side either, so it was a little awkward trying to test the foundation there. I felt out of place. read more

I am in my early 30's and know pretty much nothing when it comes to beauty products or skin care. I was a little nervous about going into an Ulta due to my other trips to beauty stores where I was left feeling awkward and in some cases unwelcomed. Let me say that is NOT the case at this Ulta. Within a couple of minutes of entering the store I was greeted and asked if I needed help. Tony was so sweet and patient with my question. I had an appointment to have someone help me find my foundation match. Alby was wonderful! She was so friendly and quickly calmed my nerves. With her help I was able to find a great foundation match. She also helped me feel a little less intimidated by eyeshadow which before my visit was something I didn't think I would ever wrap my head around. I still have A LOT to learn when it comes to make up. But because of the amazing staff at this location I am planning to slowly continue my exploration. They have definitely made a return customer out of me! read more

Today is my last visit at Ulta. Thank God I used all my points. It is completely pointless to have the word "tester" on a product if you can't test it. I asked if I could test one of their masks. I have purchased 3 other masks from them that was recommended by their employees which 2/3 I didn't like so before I bought a knew one I knew I needed to sample it first because I obviously didn't want to waste my money, again. They said they didn't have samples so I asked if I could use a tiny cup so I could go home and use it to see if I liked it. They said that I am only able to use the mask on my hand. My hand doesn't need a mask... My face does! My hand isn't sensitive... My face is. I will be shopping at Sephora for all my products. read more

She was very helpful and sweet. She showed me something better and color matched me. I will definitely be back again. Every single time I have been in there I have struggled to find products, struggled to find ANYONE that can help me, I've walked around the store searching for help, trying to make eye contact, anything to get someone's attention but it never works! I found myself the last time I was there actually calling out for anyone that worked there, it was pretty funny actually calling out...Hello, hello, hello anyone work here??? Even then it took several minutes for an extremely annoyed looking young lady to answer me and she still didn't help me but told me that she would get someone who could help me?!? Staff do not know their products. I asked if they carried a brand showing on their website and the associate said no. I ended up finding the products myself in the store. At the checkout I asked if they had another item in stock. Associate went to go check for me. Few minutes later a rep from another line came to me and tried pushing a similar product. The Ulta associate never came back. I don't appreciate the aggressive behavior, need to make a sale mentality. Makes me want to shop elsewhere. read more

Unfortunately the location at the traffic nightmare that is the district is just superior. Not that I want anyone to hover but this location never has a single associate on the floor and usually just one cashier. Last time I was there, said cashier, ringing up a lady with coupon and return issues , a full five minute transaction while the line was building, did so with a smile. I thought, wow, she's patient. Imagine my surprise when I asked for my oily sea salt scrub to be bagged separately. " Ok, but I already wiped it off". Seriously, these aren't fancy boutique bags at Gucci or something. read more
