Stopped by to get some shampoo and conditioner today. Got into the store and was greeted by a girl with blue hair and matching mask. She quickly read me all of the new rules and regulations that everyone must follow now...(I think that we all know that by now). Now on to my shopping. I went and got what I needed and then kind of wandered around a bit. Every time I looked up this girl was watching my like a hawk and I started to feel uncomfortable! So now I'm standing by myself in line, for about 5 min..at least....one person working the counter and others coming and going to the desk. Not one other employee offered to ring me up or even acknowledge me at all. There were more employees in the store than customers too. Meanwhile the blue mask girl is now watching from the front. I would not recommend this store...I only go when I absolutely have too. Never a good experience there. read more

Salon Review- MELODY MELODY MELODY At first I was skeptical about getting my hair cut at Ulta. I felt it would be a "Supercuts" experience.I had a gift card and needed my hair cut. So... ULTA it is !Melody proved me WRONG! My hair was loooong and I wanted to cut it short, which is always a risk no matter where you go. I needed a change. A drastic change and Melody did an amazing job! She was efficient and listened to my request. She didn't talk my ears off which is something I feel hairdressers sometimes do (although I think I talked her ears off). My hair makes me feel like a new woman. I can't stop tossing it like an herbal essence commercial. I will definitely be going back to her the next time I get my hair did!! read more

Frank can be menopausal. Some days he's extremely nice and helpful but today was rather moody and rude. My friend found a pack of jumbo rollers for about $11. When they wrung up the item, the registry said it was less than a penny. How silly right? We asked why but Frank refused to explain and was very short with us. "It just is. We can't sell it to you." That was it. Hello! My friend wasn't going to give you a penny. She really wanted those rollers and for $11 was reasonably priced. Although the location in Glendora is better (store is newer and more inviting), Ulta offers more affordable alternatives along with higher end products, which is nice for those on a budget. The clearance racks were a mess, but I guess that is what you get when the word "Clearence" is attached to anything. All of the hair care products I was looking for were either out of stock or no longer available do that was a bummer. Although I walked out empty handed, it's always worth a trip to see what's on sale and what not so I will more than likely be back. read more

I have been visiting this store a lot lately. I like their large variety of salon hair products and goods. Plus, they have their own line of cosmetics in which many of the products are inexpensive and work well. They carry makeup you can find at Sephora, but no where as vast of a selection. At the same time, they carry Japonesque, a hard-to-find brand of brushes, and these are usually on sale here. They always have sales and special coupons, which you can browse and print through their website. I also like the rewards program and their friendly return policy. Recently, I went to ULTA looking for some new hair wax or clay. I really wasn't sure what to get. One sales associate tried to help me, but she wasn't really knowledgeable. The great part is that she referred me to one of their in-house stylists (yes, they have a salon inside the store too). She went through the store showing me which products she personally liked to use on her clients. There are samples in the store, so while I was there, she helped me try it out on my hair. She was absolutely awesome! Her suggestions turned out to be really unique and good picks. Sometimes their sales associates are just so-so, but unlike some other beauty supply stores, this store has stylists who use some of these products everyday and can really suggest some good ones. Also, they told me if the stuff didn't work in my hair, I could return it for a full refund. Everyone is usually pretty friendly even if they're not excellent. Parking is great for the center. Ulta's area of the lot is usually pretty empty. They're open until 7pm on weekdays and until 6pm, so the hours are flexible. read more

Walked in to browse the selection with my cousin randomly. It's a cool store and I was surprised at how huge it was. Despite it being compared to Sephora and me being quite a loyal Sephora customer, I liked that it carried a lotta drugstore make up lines as well as nicer lines, like benefit. As someone who's still growing her basic make up supply, I was completely satisfied with the selection and the prices on products. Service was polite. We were approached at least three times to see if we had any questions and I signed up for their newsletter. I hope to be back! read more

WOW!!! I felt like a kid in a candy store. In other words "very happy". This place has everything and anything you might need to pamper yourself. I have been a long time customer of the shopping networks on TV for both my makeup, skin and many of my hair products. The problem is when you buy from the the shopping networks you do not get much of a color selection, nor do you get to test or match the product to your own skin tone. And if you don't like the product or if it doesn't match, you have to ship it back and pay the return shipping charges. You can figure at least $5.00 or more each time to ship back. After a period of time this can get quite expensive. Believe me, I know from experience. And the other problem is you don't get the opportunity to have someone like "Frank" to make you feel like you are having a special day! I was looking over the Lancome foundations completely lost, I had no idea what color foundation I needed. After trying a few shades on the underside of my wrist I was even more confused. Well, lucky for me Frank came to the rescue. I told him I had not idea what color I needed, he said "take a seat and I will help you." Well, he worked his magic and I now have the perfect shade of foundation. I also told him I needed a magical pencil to make my eye brows reappear, and WA-LA he introduced me to the Anastasia Brow Wiz Pencil. This is by the far the best eye brow pencil I have tried yet. It is wonderfully thin, very precise and very easy to use. It's now 7 hours later, and my brows still look great! Frank is amazing, kind and witty! So be sure to ask for him, I think you will find yourself in good hands!! I had a wonderful experience all around. The customer service by all the employee's was fantastic. read more

This is the only brick-and-mortar store that carries the line of natural hair color I use, so I come here for that item, because it's a bit easier for me to get to the store than buying online- bad millennial for the win (?). I've never been to the salon here, nor plan to in the near future, but they have a fairly extensive selection of haircare products, hair color, hair styling tools, and hair accessories, which seem to meet different needs, and styling desires. The employees have been pretty helpful, and fairly pleasant, each time I've visited here. The checkout is a tad confusing, because they have the one dollar, and discount items located around the same area as the checkout line, so sometimes it is difficult to delineate whether, and which, people are in line to purchase items, or are browsing the discounted merchandise instead. That said, it's not a bad store, especially if you have a need for specific items that you can't purchase in-store elsewhere. read more

I have a Love/Hate relationship with this location. It's mostly because of the service. I can only speak for the store, not the salon. Guys I'm a HUGE fan of this store for their amazing perks, deals/offers, samples and the fact that this a one-stop shop! Don't have EVERYTHING but they have a lot of stuff I'd go into Sephora, Sally's beauty, or CVS for and I'll get points for it. So I go here as much as I can before making a stop anywhere else. HOWEVER, the service here is almost always bad!! I work in retail, I can relate to them. But their competition is gonna knock them out of the park if they continue like this. Sometimes u can find ppl who wanna help you and give u advice but almost always I go in here and the employees AREN'T APPROACHABLE, they act like im bothering them, when really they're in the nail polish aisle TEXTING!!! Sometimes I just need a little opinion on a product or advice on how to use it. These guys should be able to help. Then they get annoyed when u return something that was never probably suitable in the first place. I was a little weirded out once, I came in to buy a curling iron and a blow dryer. I stood in front of the new T3 Curling set and opened the unsealed box to take a look at what I'd get. (I was still undecided) Mind you guys there was no display for you to touch and see the quality and features. A guy comes up to me basically saying and I quote that "I can't open the boxes because it makes it look to other customers that they've been returned." Okayyy, not my fault you have no display for a $270 set! Little did he know I'd walk out with $500 worth of hot tools that day. The only thing I was happy about that day were the points I had just accrued. All I'm saying is please up your customer service standards. Customer service was GREAT! I received helpful assistance in different aisles from different store associates. Then asked for more time consuming and in depth help with foundation/primer from Roseanne. She taught me a few things about skincare prior to foundation application. I learned helpful makeup tips, too! Management clearly knows how to staff properly for great customer service. I never had to wait around for someone, or walk up to the counter to ask for help. The best of all is my stylist, ALICIA MILO - she is better than my stylist in Paris! I'm totally serious! My cut/style are more chic than in France, at a place that i paid a premium for. Showing her pictures from my Pinterest she helped me look at colors brought different hair samples, water, offer magazines. She took her time making sure the colors can out bright and match my skin tone. She went above and beyond her duty by taking her time to all the questions I asked about my hair, what products to use! This review is only for the Benefit Brow Bar. After leaving my beloved Santa Barbara Benefit Brow Bar when I moved to Pasadena, it took me awhile to build up the courage to find another person to wax my brows. There were no reviews for the Macy's Brow Bars around my area, and I found out that one of the Macy's Brow Bars is only open Tues-Sat from 10-6... Not so great for a working girl. Since the reviews for ULTA's Benefit Bar were pretty good, so I decided to give it a shot. Both times I have gone here, I've been able to call the day of and get an appointment for an hour or two later. Although the ULTA isn't as nice as the Macy's that I'm used to going for Benefit's Brow Bar, the esthetician did a great job both times on my eyebrows. She really took her time and we had some nice conversation for the 20-25 minutes it took her to carefully shape my brows. It's nice that you can leave tips in the form of cash, or with your credit card at the register. So I've found my new spot for eyebrow waxing! I think this is a great place to go if you don't want to spend $40+ that most salons charge. read more

I was introduced to ULTA by a girlfriend about a year ago and now it's my go to place for all things manicure/pedicure related. I know they always carry a wide selection of Opi, my favorite brand. I'm loyal to them because Opi polishes are free of DBP, toluene, and formaldehyde. I like to stick to all natural beauty products whenever possible. Pouring chemicals over my face, hair/scalp and body doesn't seem healthy to me. Opi also makes a two in one base and top coat and a quick dry spritzer. Spray on a few seconds after your last coat and your nails dry super fast. This is a great alternative if you don't have time to make it to the salon! The last time I was here there was a nice gentleman, sorry I don't remember your name, who was really helpful. After picking out my new polishes, I was browsing through the make up counter and he showed me some new products they carried. Their selection isn't as great as sephora, but they've got the basics and for cheaper. read more

For those who like testers, they stock the Ulta hand wash in bathrooms so you may try the item before committing. There's a Ulta card that is free where you can rack up Ulta points & have gift certificates/coupons (dollars off on your next purchase). Don't mind if I do! Nice clean store. I'm usually in here for their NYX products. A much much better selection than Target. Occasionally I'll buy other "drugstore" brands but generally better prices at places like Target or Walmart. I love how Ulta offers coupons like $3.50 off $10 or more, and that they can be combined with manufacturer coupons. Also they have great sales like buy 1 get one half off. I never buy professional brands. I'm a licensed cosmetologist and can get much better prices on the salon products they carry. This place sucked so bad that it motivated me to make an account on yelp just to share how much they sucked. I've only been here 3 times and I can promise you I will never come back unless I develop some kind of rare medical condition where I am forced to shop at Pasadena Ulta again. Customer service is rotten. First of all, it's super messy and quite dirty looking in here. I love ulta lipsticks so I like to take advantage of their ulta brand sale every so often. But for all the 3 times that I've been here, their ulta shelves are nearly empty. So I go ask the cashier what is going on and they always give me a sorry ass excuse of "Oh we were going to restock today but we had some difficulties so we will be restocked tomorrow. Come back again tomorrow." I politely tell them I'll think about it because obviously I am so lucky I seem to always miss restocks by a day. The staff looks incredibly miserable like they don't want to be there. Here's suggestion, smile. If you're going to work in retail learn to pretend to enjoy your job. Leave the long face to your therapist. Ulta also has these little coupons for free samples; color me shocked if you ever get the exact one. I brought the coupon in on the day that I receive it. To my surprise they tell me that they don't have it anymore and replace it with some sad looking thing that I didn't sign up for. They're probably hiding it to disperse within themselves. I'm a calm individual so I don't ever ask to see manager or give them the stink eye. I didn't remember any of their names because I was running out the door as fast as I could. But the new Ulta in Rosemead is clean and nice so I recommend it, it's close by. I've also been to the one in Northridge and it's just as messy as Pasadena so I don't know why Ulta don't hire someone to clean/organize. read more

Ulta is my go-to place for everything "beauty." Hey, we all need a little help in this department, am I right? They have a great selection of all the beauty products and tools a gal needs to get gorgeous. My only issue is that there never seems to be enough sales people walking around the floor, when you need help in locating a product. Love that they carry the whole NYX line including those wonderful little concealer pencils, one of my top "must haves" makeup items. This staff at the salon is not the same as all the original staff that I first met in 2007. It's terrible to hear the management staff and colleagues are so not professional at this location. Instead of helping your employees rise to the occasion, it's sad to hear that it's only been terror and mayhem. What kind of corporate business promotes this kind of behavior. I really have always had good experiences at Ulta, but this review in particular is about the BROW BAR AT ULTA. I have had my brows done there a few times and always had good service and good results, but today I had to stop and brag here at Yelp as my experience was AMAZING. I met with LAUREN today who is a definite artist in her craft! This is the best my eye brows have ever looked, and at that age where the eyelids are starting to droop a bit, a good brow makes a huge difference to how you look and of course feel. I am beyond pleased and already have my appointment to go back :) The price is right, the service is excellent, Lauren is smart, talented, informative, gentle and easy and enjoyable to talk with. The staff at this location are friendly and professional. You can walk around the store with ease and confidence knowing that someone competent can help you with any beauty questions you might have. This location also maintains a good supply of makeup and skincare products for sale. I've been a customer of Ulta for over a year. My stylist takes care of my Balayage, color, cut & style. I book my service every six weeks and I've never experienced any problems with anyone at this store. I leave the salon feeling pretty and HAPPY!!! read more

I actually like it better than Sephora, which usually has people trying to sell you everything that you happen to glance at. you have your regular drug store items like make up, shampoo, and hair dye. then they have the higher end make up like bare ecentuals and all the associated tools. ive never ventured into the perfume section but it always smells so lovely. but i cant stop looking in the salon quality hair product area. my boyfriend even loves what they have... it keeps his mohawk in place =). theres also salon in the back... i think you have to schedule an appointment? i havent even asked what types of services they have, next time i wil tho. to sum it all up, it like your local salon or beauty supply combined into one big commercialized mega store! who doesnt love that?! read more
