    Pork ramen
    Jasmyne S.

I recently visited this spot in Ashland, Oregon. The service was great, friendly and attentive throughout my meal. The restaurant was clean and spacious. The food, however, was a bit hit-or-miss. I started with the fried pot stickers, which were pretty good. I also tried the Crazy Tiger roll and the pork ramen; both were just okay and didn't really stand out. For dessert, I went with the banana tempura, which unfortunately was a disappointment. It lacked flavor and overall just didn't taste good. Overall, wonderful service but the food could use some improvement.

We tried the ramen, deep fried pot stickers, a sushi roll, and the banana caramel dessert. The pot stickers were the standout, crispy and flavorful. The sushi roll did not match what was listed on the menu, and the dessert was not very good. The staff also did not seem to know the menu and asked us to look up the item ourselves. Overall, an okay experience with one clear highlight.

    Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen ($18)

Tasty food but minimal portions and slightly expensive! I enjoyed my Spicy Tonkotsu ramen (it was $1 extra to make it spicy). The broth was creamy, savory, and delicious. I was able to clear the entire bowl, broth and all. I do feel like it was a bit expensive for what it was and I wasn't too full by the end. Tried a bite of the Japanese curry as well; tasty but nothing in particularly special. Again, not the biggest portion for the price. Our waiter was so so nice and enthusiastic while serving us. I've never seen someone look so happy doing their job. The place itself was very cozy and small, very quiet as well. An overall good spot, wish I had more stuff to say about the sushi!

Sashimi plate with 10 pieces ... maybe a little too much cuke, but the fish itself was fresh and tasty!

Been coming to this location since 2002, although I am sure ownership has changed many times since then. Finally leaving a review! First, the ambience is bare bones now. It used to be a little fancier and nicer, and now it's just basic. That's the reason for the one-star deduction; it just feels cheap. However, the food is enjoyable and always has been. This visit we ordered the seared ahi tuna salad, and the dressing was standout amazing. Also ordered a sashimi plate and a tempura banana (for dessert). Everything was pretty enjoyable, including the steamed gyoza and shrimp tempura. The service was good, too, which always is pleasant. Glad I finally left a review after 23.5 years!!

It was my last night in Ashland and I wanted to try something new. Some of my friends had eaten here last year, so I thought I'd give it a try. The place is larger than it looks, and I was given a nice table toward the back. I ordered an eel roll, the chicken katsu appetizer (no karaage), and a tonkatsu ramen. The eel roll was really good! The ramen had a really good broth, and I dunked my katsu in it which is what I do with karaage. I also ordered a nice cold Sapporo to wash everything down. The service was really friendly and all the other workers were great as well! The funniest thing was the Jessica Alba-core roll. Had to chuckle about that!Definitely worth checking out!

My husband got to try blue fin sashimi.

The moment we walked in the door we were greeted joyfully and welcomed in. Each of the staff members were so kind and lovely. Best service we've had ever! We will definitely go back!

This place is so amazing! I would %100 recommend, it is now my favorite restaurant

The service was amazing and the food was to die for!! Very authentic and delicious... i have absolute no complaints. Very chill and relaxing vibe in here.

I love this place and so sorry to read some of the OLD negative reviews. The service is quick, personal and professional. The chef is quick to engage with you if requested. The fish is fresh each day. I go there alone and the ambiance is welcoming and warm

    Yellowtail scallion roll

I ended up here after looking around the area for a dinner spot. There weren't too many people inside on a Saturday night and we were able to get seated immediately. I got the seaweed salad as well as a yellowtail scallion roll. The seaweed salad was surprisingly really good and sat on top of a bed of salad, so I appreciated the extra veggies. I was pretty surprised by how many pieces of the yellowtail scallion roll there were -- they were small, but nonetheless still pretty good. The fish tasted fresh and the rice was also nicely seasoned. Nothing mindblowing, but still good nonetheless!

The broth for the tenkatsu ramen is really good and the noodles were on point. I think the bowl could use some more pork-- I only had two small slices. The other toppings were fine. The egg and bamboo shoots are good. And although using corn and arugula isn't my favorite it did seem to work. We also had a katsu which was what I expect--good but a little dry. We had one vegetable sushi roll, which was actually really good. I look forward to going back for more.

    Chicken Katsu Curry

I hear the sushi is great, however... I haven't been able to get past the Katsu Curry! Only place probably within 300 miles of the Rogue Valley to get authentic Japanese Curry! You can actually taste the butter from the roux they make to tighten it up! Comparable to Coco Curry in Japan!

    Salmon belly... get this!

Best sushi in town, best service too! Every time I've been here, the waitstaff go above and beyond with their kindness and customer service.

The chili oil and peppers were incredibly fragrant, with layers of flavor that made the dish unforgettable. The Boiled Beef was equally delicious. Everything was so good that we completely cleaned our plates before realizing we had forgotten to take photos! We even ordered a Beef Chow Fun to go because we wanted more. On top of the excellent food, both the owner and his wife were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. It's rare to discover such authentic and delicious Chinese food in a small, out-of-the-way town. This place was a hidden gem, and we'll definitely be coming back.

It came out fairly quickly and was delivered by the robot as well as the woman who took my order. First of all the pancakes were the best I have ever seen at any Asian restaurant ever!!!! they were hot, thin, delicate, but strong and tasted great. The Moo Shu mixture itself was fine; however, no sauce was provided. I've never had that experience. Always before either plum sauce or hoisin sauce has been provided and it makes the dish wonderful. I would've asked for hoisin sauce, but I never saw my server again. She never came back to check on me until it was time to pay the bill. I am going to go back and give it another try but this time when I placed my order, I am going to specify that I would like hoisin sauce. If I were going to recommend any improvement for this restaurant, it would be that the server is more friendly and checks in on you a few minutes after serving you to ask if you need anything else so that you can fully enjoy your meal.

I started with the crab puffs, it was a very decent sized order, they were crunchy and not oily at all. The crab filling in the middle was creamy and savory. They were excellent. For my main course, I had the triple crown, which was shrimp, scallops, and pork, with sautéed vegetables. The sauce was amazing, a deep, savory flavor, the veggies were perfectly done, the shrimp were very good, and the scallops were absolutely buttery. The pork was very tender. It came with a good amount of rice, which was tender and perfectly done of course, I tore into it so fast, I forgot to get a picture. That is such a bad habit of mine. To drink, I had a jasmine hot tea, which was also very good. I ended up eating all of the crab puffs, they were so good, and half of the main course ended up being breakfast the next morning. For all of this high-quality food, the price was extremely reasonable. I would stop here again the next time I'm in town. Thank you.

The place was practically empty- white everything with black diner seats & red/floral decorations on the walls. Long, narrow passage- greeted with delayed warmth from a boisterous lady. She recommended "more bang for your buck" combinations, so I'll hafta try the ala carte entrees later. I got the crab puffs (8 for $10.25)- they were fun! Triangles vs those 'purses'. Classic krab & cream cheese, but also has diced onion! A note of freshness & packed to the gills! And the egg flower soup ('small' bowl for $6)- simple, pretty straightforward... not enough salt, so shoyu helped. Some corn, pretty sure that's why it was so thick. The #15 ($15.50) came with pork fried rice, mar far chicken & moo goo gai pan... they did not come to play! The fried rice was a little overpowered by green onion, but that's where their pink sauce really came in handy- talk about balance! Their mar far wasn't little nuggets- they were like a breast, battered & fried, THEN cut into strips! So filling! And the moo goo gai pan was refreshing- big slices of carrot, onion, cabbage, mushrooms & broccoli with slices of chicken. Heartwarming, really. With hot tea (one pot for $1?!) & a fortune cookie, came to $32.75. With tip, overall total sat at just under $40. I'm glad I stopped in- this really was a phoenix rising from the proverbial ashes; Phoenix needs a win after Alameda & this place is helping keep them strong. Highly recommend

Mar Far Chicken contains NO VEGETABLES. It is deep fried chicken breast (least flavorful of the proteins) cut into sections. I appreciated that they served the "pink sauce" in a separate container so that it didn't get soggy on the road. Pork fried rice is a hearty portion, not greasy, fairly neutral flavor. They no longer sell won ton soup. That's too bad because I read that theirs was really tasty. ALL of their prices have gone up in the last 4 months; I added updated menu photos.
