Ume Tea is a popular reliable boba spot and for good reason. It's always bustling anytime of the day and irrespective of weekday or weekend. Their drinks are always consistent and the service is quick. It used take much longer in the past but it seems that they have improved on their service time. You can order their drinks online so that makes it pretty convenient and you can just pick it up when it's ready. Parking is a bit of pain in this complex though especially during busy hours. In the non caffeinated options, my favorite go to drink is their taro latte with coconut pudding. I go for less ice and 0 sugar and it's still pretty sweet for me. The coconut pudding is the star of the drink. Their classic boba tea is pretty good too. Their boba is not the best boba in town but it's pretty decent. read more

I visited on a Wednesday afternoon around 5 p.m., and the store was not busy--there were only a few customers at the time. I'm currently 8 months pregnant and had a strong craving for their popcorn chicken. When I received my order, I noticed that several pieces looked undercooked and visibly pink inside. Right before taking a bite, I asked my husband if it looked normal and safe to eat. Given my pregnancy, we didn't want to take any risks. My husband informed the cashier about the issue. There was no apology--just the order being taken back. After a few minutes, they returned with a replacement. To be cautious, I opened multiple pieces, and while some were fully cooked with white meat, others were still pink. Since I ordered it spicy, the chili flakes made it difficult to tell which pieces were properly cooked. In the end, my husband advised me not to eat it at all because it didn't feel safe, especially during pregnancy. I was really disappointed--not only because the issue wasn't properly resolved, but also because there was no apology or reassurance from the staff. On most drinks, they don't allow you to customize the ice level, but they allow you to customize the sweetness and toppings in it. Interior: The ambience of the store is very modern, and has a cute, pink interior with two kiosks for ordering. Most of the drinks there are between the $5-7 range, so very affordable. Drink: I ordered the oreo creme brulee oolong milk tea ($6.95) with 30% sugar and no ice. The amount of toppings was very generous, but I should've done 15% sugar because it was still a bit sweet for 30% (I normally get 30-50% sugar at other places, because I still like a bit of sweetness, but not overly sweet). Regarding the taste of the milk tea itself, the flavor of the tea wasn't very prominent/strong and it tasted mostly like creamer (i.e. similar to the Tapioca Express or Quickly milk teas) - it was a tad bit heavy/rich. The overall price wasn't bad but I guess you pay for what you get. I can't speak for Ume's other drinks such as fruit teas/smoothies, but there are many other options besides the milk tea (i.e. new peach series, matcha, etc). However, for the milk tea itself there's definitely other places that are a bit more authentic (i.e. Molly Tea, Wanpo, HeyTea) so if I do come back again, I'd probably try a non-milk tea item such as their fruit smothies. read more

Ume Tea is a little too conveniently located for me. I find it hard not to stop in, especially after a workout! You can order online or from a kiosk right when you walk in. The turnaround time for drinks is fairly fast. For snacks, you'll need to wait a few minutes (still fast). Your fried snacks are made fresh to order. I usually order the fried tofu but one of these days will probably order one of the combos (drink + tofu rice) since it's such a great deal. Their fried tofu is fried to perfection. It's crispy and light, made with soft tofu vs firm. The result is a crispy and creamy bite with just the right amount of spice on them. The employees here so far have been nice and serve up everything well- made. The shop itself is ultra kawaii! It's hard not to upgrade to the special cup with the plushie keychain. I just love everything about this place. The pink dopamine decor is sure to brighten anyone's day. I can't wait to stop in again! read more

I tried UME tea for the first time today, but I was very confused when I received my order. I got an oolong milk tea with brown sugar boba, but somehow 50% of my drink filled with boba? It ended up being too sweet to drink, and I don't remember adding any extra toppings. The person who added extra toppings only had 1/4 of the cup containing actual tea (not pictured).
