Loved it! Stuff I can't get in Wisconsin. Gator bites were actually very good, I know, everything fried is good. But I didn't like the frog legs as much. Which is fine, Everything else was top notch. Shrimp, scallops, catfish, sign me up for all of it. And the fries and rings were good too, we basically got everything on the menu to sample. Oh, and the pickles and hush puppies! Loved them. The cole slaw was one of the best I've had - tangy and crisp. I also ordered catfish, which I was pretty sure I would not like, but it was great! Our server, Ida, was awesome, she was very knowledgeable about the food and the friendly southern person you'd expect at a family style place like this. The only suggestion I would have for this place would be to get a bigger and better sign that was visible from Old Lebanon Rd. I have driven by this place so many times and never noticed it because it is set back in a center that is not visible from the main road. I get a lot of my restaurant choices from yelp or from driving past restaurants and looking them up online. Better publicity would do this place some good. This is one of our new favorites! We tried it last week, with an out-of-town guest, and we will be back. Everything we had was outstanding - the table ordered chicken tenders, country fried steak, and catfish! Loved the unlimited sides (pickles, coleslaw, beans, hushpuppies), and was surprised to find that the dinners come with additional sides. The service was great! Our waittress was one of the friendliest people I've ever met. Another awesome surprise was that they brought the kids out a free frozen dessert of their choice at the end of their meal. We love LOVE this place and eat here often. Managers are always friendly. They have one server that they need to replace her Name is Nichole. She was extremely rude to me when I tried asking for my chicken tenders to be non spicy. It escalated way more than it should have. I frankly was shocked. Uncle Bud's was excellent! It's off the beaten path and the sign out front is not huge - so be on the lookout as to not miss it! We went inside and the place was packed! Now, this was on a Saturday afternoon - so I am sure that is a rush hour time for them. The décor was fantastic - they had little squeaker chickens in a cage up on the ceiling, license plates all over the walls, a huge frog resting on the metal side of the wall. Honestly, it's ugly as can be - but it's 'DOWN HOME' look gives you plenty to look at while you wait for your food and the little handwritten quotes all over the walls from Uncle Bud are hilarious. (My favorite? "People keep saying that women wear less clothes now than they did fifty years ago. Well, that's not true. They wear the same amount of clothes, just not at the same time." Haha!) We were seated immediately and our server came over to greet us on the spot. She gave us our menus as well as a "Experience Rating" sheet that was essentially a full one-page questionnaire that asked about our experience with the food, service staff, etc. It mentioned that we could give our review to the hostess at the front of the restaurant after the meal and be registered to win a giftcard! I think this is a brilliant idea for restaurants because I'm certain it is more likely to keep the service staff "in check" on making sure their customers are happy. Our server was as sweet as can be - she brought our drinks out immediately in these huge mason jars before she told us that she was going to get our "fixins." The fixins come with every meal (kind of like tortilla chips at a Mexican restaurant) and include coleslaw, pickles, onions, white beans, and hushpuppies. Everything was incredible! The hushpuppies were piping hot and the beans had bits of bacon/ham in them - incredible flavor. I ordered the "Catfish & Chicken Combo" and my friend ordered the "3 Fillet Dinner." The portions were huge for the price! By the time you fill up on the fixins and your meal, you have at least a full meal ready to take home. The catfish beat any catfish I have ever tried in my life - it just flaked perfectly. The chicken was tender and only included good cuts - no gristle or hard ends. The only thing I didn't like about Bud's were the biscuits - this is the south and we are known for having amazing biscuits! These seemed like plain old Pillsbury canned biscuits. HOWEVER, in an effort to make them taste better, I added some of their Roddenberry's Cane Patch Syrup and let me tell you.. that was the BEST syrup I have ever had in my entire life. It wasn't the kind that you would put on pancakes - but almost had a sorghum consistency to it. Delicious. Overall, it was a great experience - I always enjoy restaurants that give the "Mom & Pop" feel and it's always nice to go somewhere that isn't a huge chain. read more

It was an abundant amount of food coming with two catfish fillets, over 10 shrimp, fries, coleslaw, white beans, two huge hush puppies, raw white onion, and pickles. Leftovers, most definitely!
