Stayed at a serviceable Quality Inn by the Gaylord for a convention and this place was right next door so too tired to go anywhere I gave it a shot and very glad I did. It's a quaint, Western/rustic interior and since I was solo I sat at the bar for dinner. The unique thing about this place is they serve wild game. First night I was going to try the Buffalo sirloin but the wild game sampler platter won out and I'm glad it did. So much good stuff I couldn't finish it all and I'm not a light eater. The elk patties were excellent. My server was the bartender and he was great. So the next I went back for the buffalo sirloin and it delivered. My only 2 complaints about this place was the bowl for my Caesar salad was too small and the fried okra portion was too small. Everything else was great. Potential, maybe. Execution, not even close. Saturday at 5. We walk into a crowded lobby with a 20 minute wait. NBD, it's Saturday. It gave us time to peruse the menu. The menu was extremely protein heavy. This really isn't the place for a vegetarian. Not sure it's even the place for anyone watching their diet. Lots of meat, lots of fried, lots of carbs. Our server came by shortly after we were seated. Overall, she did a good job considering the number of tables she had. I was intrigued by the crawfish cakes. Our server dissuaded me from these. I asked about the cod which she heartily endorsed. I ordered the cod, okra and baked potato. The plate also came with fries and hush puppies. My husband ordered the chopped steak, cowboy potatoes and a side salad. Our server brought a basket of corn fritters. While they looked like hush puppies covered in powdered sugar, they tasted like funnel cakes. By far the best part of the meal. My cod was far more breading than fish. I peeled the breading off to find not much more fish than is in a fish stick. The okra was food service quality. Skip it. The fries were soggy. The hush puppies were completely flavorless.The saving grace of the meal was the baker. Honestly, save some calories, save some money - don't order the cod. Since I was still a little enamored by the crawfish cakes, my husband ordered one as an addition to his meal. Our server was absolutely right, skip it. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the plating. The cake was about 3 inches wide. Served in the middle of a large dinner plate. We both found it amusing. My husband said his chopped steak was ok. The highlight being the mushrooms and onions topping the slab of hamburger. Likewise, the onions were the best part of the cowboy potatoes. The onion was not the highlight of the side salad. In this case, there were no highlights. The decor was DIY Bass Pro Shop. There is an attached ice cream shop if you want dessert. Parking was ample and service pretty good. Would we go back? Had an enjoyable evening at Caney Fork this evening. Red, our server was great. He provided excellent service and was very helpful and friendly. Excellent food, friendly service, and fun ambiance -- we really enjoyed our stop at Caney's today. We had the full rack of St Louis ribs and the Caney chicken. The ribs were so tender, they fell right off the bone. The chicken was tasty, well-seasoned, and smothered in cheese, mushrooms, and onions. For sides, we liked the green beans, corn on the cob, and mashed potatoes. The complimentary fritters were so yummy!! We also enjoyed some local beers - the wheat lemonade shandy was very refreshing. I've lived in the area for just over 10 years now, and have not dined at some of the old-school tourist favorites (including this one). I had some family visiting from out of town and offered this as an option to rectify that, and so we finally checked out Caney Fork. Huge interior, but early on a Saturday it was sparsely populated. Large space with ample parking, so a nice choice to have in Nashville overall. The menu is pure southern food from breakfast staples to ribs and BBQ to catfish. Some "meat and three" plus burger/sandwich options to boot. A lot of drink options including some really competitive pricing for beer and cocktails. Way cheaper you're apt to get at most tourist draws. I had a BBQ plate, my wife had the catfish. Both were solid/good. The beans (white) and okra were very tasty as well. All in all, a reasonably priced old-school diner with some local charm. read more

We were greeted and sat very quickly. The exterior/interior of the restaurant looks like a fishing cabin. My son had a steak that he said was seasoned very well. I had the fried shrimp with corn and potatoes. It was very good. It was not overly greasy. My oldest had the alligator sliders and fries. He is not an adventurous eater, but he really enjoyed his meal. My wife had the pulled pork platter. She seemed to enjoy it very much. Our youngest had a grilled cheese. Hard to mess that up . Tired and hungry after flying into Nashville. Checked into Wyndham Club and wanted something close by. Caney came up in my search. They advertise frog legs but I passed on that option. I was deciding between the chopped steak or the elk sliders. Our server Dora was a sweetheart. She recommended the sliders. Sometimes wild game can be dry. Not the case for these sliders. They were yummy. Well seasoned. I'm not a fan of coleslaw but it along with the fried onions were great toppings for the slider. Live music catered to adults and kids. I love banjo music so really enjoyed it as part of the overall experience. Warning, if you're opposed to taxidermy decoration this is not the place for you. The horned ram kept staring at me and the weird animal on the overhang of the truck was a bit disturbing. Found out it was the face of a possum and body of a raccoon. The waiter/bartender knew his menu and he didn't hesitate to recommend the ribs which were exactly as described "fall off the bone good". The salmon, shrimp, and gater had a different outcome unfortunately. We are not much of a seafood family so I'm not going to take stars away because them kids may not know what real seafood is. I definitely would not classify them as the best ribs in Nashville as they claimed. They were overcooked and fell off the bone, looking more like pulled pork. They tasted like they were steamed. The service was excellent -- our server and their shadow trainee were both pleasant, attentive, and helpful. Unfortunately, the timing wasn't great. We came in on a night with multiple large parties, and our order ended up at the very end of the line. We waited an extremely long time for our food, and when it finally arrived, it was disappointing. I ordered a buffalo burger cooked medium, but what I got was a very dry patty -- not what I expected. One more note: the restrooms need attention. They felt more like a gas station restroom than a restaurant. Yikes. This place is great. I got the wild game platter. I must say as a South Mississippi boy who eats a whole lot of wild game, it was really good! Frog legs were moist, as well as gator. Elk was superb. So our server told us that today was his first day serving by himself. So I'm going to give him a pass. He was very friendly and seemed to truly care. The food was fine. We got the appetizer sampler and the bison strip loin. The bison was tender however, there was a lot of drizzle on the cut and it had almost no seasoning. The onion rings and pickles were decently flavorful when dipped in stuff otherwise they also had minimal flavor. The best thing we got were the chicken wings, but again no seasoning without dipping them in barbecue and or buffalo sauce. The ambience was cute. We had a fun time at this unique restaurant! The decor definitely makes you feel as if you're in the bayou. Unfortunately it was our first time here and we weee seated in the bar area instead of the main dining room. There was live bluegrass music in the main area and we had to get up from our table to go enjoy. They even asked if it was our first time and we said yes and they still sat us in the timeout corner. The food was absolutely delicious. We enjoyed the ribs, catfish, gator bites and steak. The campfire potatoes were good, as was the fried okra. The cornmeal coating on the catfish and gator was super flavorful and crunchy! Some of the best catfish I've ever had. The highlight of the mean was 100% the at table campfire s'mores! After traveling 14 hours and checking into my hotel, I decided to hit this place up for dinner at 8 PM because it looked like they had decent reviews. I ordered the New York strip, medium rare with a baked potato with butter and a side salad with ranch dressing. The service was outstanding and my waitress, I wish I could remember her name, was the greatest thing about this experience. The stake that I ordered, medium rare came with barely any red in it at all, but after traveling all day, I was too tired and too hungry to take the time to say anything or send it back. The baked potato was excellent, and the salad was good too. The atmosphere was nice. It's kind of cliché of what you'd expect of a Nashville tourist restaurant with all the stuffed animals and taxidermy on the walls. Had the steak been done properly? I would've given four stars but it's not that hard to cook a steak medium rare so I can only give two. I would try them again and order something different and give them a second shot. read more

We went here for dinner while staying at the Gaylord Opry nearby. It's close to the resort which is nice and convenient, especially with the prices of food at the restaurants inside the Gaylord. From what I could tell, this restaurant attracts an older clientele. The server was incredibly nice and helpful. He had a great attitude and made recommendations, which I always appreciate. The quality of the food was about as average as possible. Both my ribs and corn had the slightest taste of seafood which was honestly a little off putting. The ribs also were very heavy with cartilage, I was finding myself removing these pieces from my mouth many times throughout the meal. The beans I think may have just been Busch's. I was disappointed because I love ribs and these were labeled as "Nashvilles best". I would not get these again. In my experience, this is a conveniently placed restaurant with nice service. Sat at the bar, waited 10 minutes, while 2 bartenders waited on several other folks that arrived after me. I finally decided to go ahead and ask for service, one of the bartenders rudely told me to wait my turn. I told him I was there long before the others were and he rudely said "oh well, I'm tied up". I never play this card, but my ethnicity was nothing like the others at the bar, and I strongly felt they both did not want to have anything with serving me from the get go. I haven't felt like this for a long time and I am fuming right now. I got up to leave after bringing up my issue and they smiled and gave me a sarcastic, "have a good night." Came here on a Friday night not too busy, we wanted to stay out of downtown nashvillle with the crowds since we had 10 people decided to try something close to the place we were staying. This place was huge but not packed had live music playing for us that went from room to room. You can tell the locals love to come here so happy we found it. The staff was so friendly and super helpful and honest, told us exactly what not to get and what to get lol. Everything we ate was good and had no issues they even gave us some donut holes for free they were sooooo good. Glad we tried this place it was decently priced as well. read more
