I have to say it - I'm from New Jersey (north Jersey - and if you are from the area, you know why it is important to make that distinction). My hometown is filled with places like Uncle Giuseppe's. So much so, that I thought it was normal to expect your city to have a legit deli. Well, this is not the case in Boise (insert sad face).... Sometimes I think that you have to be from the northeast to really appreciate a place like this. Where I come from, you buy your meat and cheese from a family-owned deli like Uncle Giuseppe's, not from the deli section of the grocery store! The out-of-towners on yelp led me to my home away from home. Thank you!!! I go for a classic Italian with red wine vinegar instead of balsamic. I eat one there and take one to go, of course :) ...and don't forget to pick up your deli meats and cheeses for the week. If you want to be a real Jersey girl, order up a platter for your next party. Uncle G.'s is the best deli in Boise, capisce? The aromas, the accents...it's like entering a deli portal to New York City. Everything is legit, so take a swing at any sandwich that suits your fancy. You can't miss- even if you don't select the one named DiMaggio. Only a Jabroni would leave without purchasing their fresh Mozzarella. And, don't forget their soups! You'll want to buy Uncle G's chowder and lobster bisque by the vat after trying them. Bada-bing Bada-boom! I don't want to tell you how to live your life, but stocking up on cold cuts while you're at Uncle G's is savvy. When in Rome! This shop is amazing and you really feel like you are back east. We Walked in and were welcomed by the owner's father, He gave us the run down of everything in the shop all the sandwiches, what is homemade and what is shipped from NY. The sandwiches were so good, with lots of flavor. We also got the lobster bisque soup, that was very good as well. The dessert was to die for. Came pick up my tailored dress next door therefore decided to give a try in this place. The facade has a lot of hand drawn paint on it reminds me a old crapy thrift store. If it wasn't my colleague I would never step in myself. Anyway, the food is decent. I got a couple samplers of different kind of pasta. The owner wasn't helpful to explain the food they have. Nice Italian Deli. I had a meatball sandwich and is was excellent. The Lobster Bisque was just OK. My boyfriend had a sub sandwich which he said was VERY good. I would of liked to see more of a bottle drink selection, like cream soda. But that's just me. We will eat here again next time I'm in town. read more

This sandwich shop is a hidden gem (as mentioned in other reviews)! I'll admit, my first experience wasn't great but I fault that on my order choice and the fact that I thought I liked balsamic dressing on it (which I now know I don't). For me the dressing made the bread a little soggy. NOW, I know exactly what to order, and my go-to-sandwich is the Philly cheesesteak. It's to die for! Service is friendly, we've dined in and always have a pleasant time. After a few minutes of eating the owner checks to see how things taste and has even given my one year old a juice box in the house (so nice). We will always be loyal customers. read more

I love myself a good sandwich place, and this is BY FAR the best deli around. Actually, it's the best sandwich I've ever had in my life. Ever. Period. I used to work right across the street from this place and would go there at least twice a week. Never got tired of it. We don't make it out there as often as we'd like now (a bit of a drive from Meridian), but every time we go it's just as good as ever. I always order the Frank Sinatra, and it is simply marvelous. Honestly, it's the perfect sandwich. Their meats are delicious and that balsamic vinegar they use is just a thin slice of heaven. In fact, I'm pretty sure these are the only sandwiches that will be served in heaven. Check this place out. The guy who runs it is a real New Yorker and a way nice guy. I once asked him what made him want to open up a sandwich place here and his answer was "well, I figured I could do it better than anyone else could." And he was right! read more

This is the best sandwich deli I have ever been to in my life. My Im 25 years old and I've ate a lot of sandwiches. Today I had the best sandwich ever the #16 the Italian. It was layered with 7 different meats. It had 2 different salamis and other meats like prosciutto. The sandwich roll with the balsamic vinegar and the roasted red peppers and a little lettuce and tomato. Everything came together so well. I'll be back here everyday I'm in boise. read more

We just tried Uncle Giuseppe's for the first time today. I had the #17 (Good Fellas) and my husband had the #11(Godfather). They were both fantastic! If there is one thing that the Boise area seems to be really getting good at, it's these sort of small little lunch counters, like Saladman, like Fat Guy in Meridian and now, like this. Here we have a guy who's either a NY or NJ (I'm guessing NY) transplant banging away behind the glass counter, amidst the millions of handwritten specials, working over that slicer and dealing with a credit card machine that seems to have as much of an East Coast attitude as would be befitting the place. Even without "borrowing" the Uncle Giuseppe namesake of a number of New York and Jersey markets, this place is as close to an East Coast Italian deli as I've seen outside of NY/NJ and like a real, actual damn deli, you can actually buy sliced meats and cheeses there, which is something places with the word "deli" in their name seem to frequently miss...this one, without the "deli" delivers on the promise they don't. *Ahem* Soapbox aside, you can go get your East Coast fix here, I guess, if you miss the accent and mannerisms. It definitely took me back the whole time I was there and I could have stayed longer, if I didn't have things to do, but more to the point, get you some of that goodness. The crab/seafood salad I had was spectacular and better than the sandwich, which was itself no slouch, but had some minor issues. Store-made bread is good in my book, as I like those little character touch, like random scorch marks...so it's a point in the favor generally...unless you sell me a loaf of something that resembles more a cinder block when cold. Warm I imagine it would be pretty good, but cold...it's just too much. Taste was fine, but nothing too special. If I were them, I'd have a bakery do these up to specs and not waste time in the actual shop with it. I wound up eating about 1/3 of it because filling up my stomach with bread that's just ok is not something I'm willing to do these days. Lots of awesome choices on the menu, so dig in, dig deep and dig often. I know I'll be back. read more

After reading the other reviews we decided to give this deli a try. My wife ordered the meatball sub and I had the pastrami sandwich on rye. With drinks and 1 bag of chips the cost came to $19. I felt this place is overrated by others. My sandwich was a bit fatty and quite small. My wife's was not very flavorful. The atmosphere was nothing to enjoy. It was noisy and we were the only ones there. (Music was loud and annoying.) read more

There's no point in going to any other sandwich shop when you've got this place. I've gone in multiple times and there has never been any disappointment! My favorite is the Dean Martin, but I've also had the Bronco Nation and tried my husbands' Superfecta and Bonanza. Basically, I don't think you can go wrong. read more
