I love this place! Everything about it says authentic and New Yorker. The owner is a great guy, and he's usually the only person I've been able to talk to when placing an order. He'll give you the spiel about quality meats used on sandwiches, lunch specials, dessert specials all made in house. He's always happy to offer assistance if you've never been or don't know what you want. Some folks would say he's abrasive or rude. He's actually been very gracious and appreciative of my business. If you want authentic Italian food, then come here! The meats are quality and fresh. Obviously imported. Here are the things we've tried. Lasagna (not very mozzarella-y. More ricotta-y) but it's good, the sauce has a different flavor that your typical lasagna but it's different in a yummy way! Spaghetti and meatballs (same sauce as lasagna, and it's not a typical American Italian flavor, you can tell it's an authentic recipe) my husband ate this and enjoyed it! The sandwich that they are known for... YUM! Ask him and he will point to an article on the wall. Balsamic vinegar, tomatoes in oil, the bread is crispy but soft! So good! Lobster bisque soup is yummy. Not big chunks of lobster but you get the flavor. It's creamy and cheesy tasting! Clam chowder, is not creamy, it's in a red base but it's yummy! The guy behind the counter was very New York. A little gruff and rude, but not out of place or over the top. I 100% wouldn't have cared if the food was amazing, but it was a mixed bag at best. Meatball sub was not good. Bread was underbaked, meatball was bland. The sauce was good, but that can't redeem the whole sandwich. The cookies were good, not amazing. This was my first time ever coming to Uncle Giuseppes and I can already say, with the utmost confidence, that it is the best deli in town. I ordered the DiMaggio and my partner ordered the Dean Martin. Both subs were amazing, we talked of nothing but how taaty they were the whole drive home. I have driven by this restaurant numerous times a week. The name is catchy and one you can't forget. Since I married an Italian and just say love marinara sauce anything that says "meatball sub" my neck spins around like that movie "The Excorcist". Today was the day! My husband has been here several times, which speaks volumes. He is one of those people that doesn't repeat restaurants...UNLESS THEY ARE GOOD. I went pretty standard being my first visit. Number one. I'd order it again for sure. Such a balance of flavors encased in a soft and chewy roll. Right amount of salty meats and cheese and finished with roasted red peppers and oil & vinegar. Let's start with the Boar's Head meats. They are my favorite and the fact that they use them here says they care about their business and what they make for you. How do you walk in and not get a cannoli?! Yum! What's not to like about this place. It's a smaller establishment but that's OK. You get close and comfy while you are there. It's very difficult to find an authentic Italian deli outside the East Coast. The owners and staff are Fromm New York and they import most of their products directly from Italy. I placed a rode for imported canned plum tomatoes to make homemade sauce. The store isn't huge, but carries enough to whet one's Italian tastes. As he was serving us our lunch today, the owner of Uncle Giuseppe's said you're not going to hear about this shop on the radio or TV. He takes pride that word of mouth and repeat customers are what keeps his business thriving. The little shop is located near the corner of State and Glenwood Streets. We found this little gem after driving down the road after a Saturday event and we were just looking for a place for a late lunch. Not spending a lot of time in this area, we saw the sign and stopped in. Glad we did! The owner is a Long Island transplant who has his First Time Customer speech down cold. He proudly tells you the shop uses Boar's Head meats and cheeses, has many homemade items, and desserts. You can order a sandwich from a set menu, or request a "build your own." They have fresh soups to choose from as well as a cooler full of sodas you'd find on the east coast. My husband ordered a #16 sandwich and sausage and potato soup. The soup was gone quickly. He loved it. The sandwich was good, but he really liked the soup. I had a build-your-own. It was filling and done to order. We had cannolis to round out the meal and found the shells crispy and the filling a light cream with pieces of chocolate. Really tasty. The owner only works on weekends now but said there is always a family member in the shop to make sure things are run with consistency and quality. I came here yesterday for lunch and LOVED MY DELI SANDWICH. First, the owner is a true New Yorker and this deli reminds me of an old school Italian deli. They bake all their bread in house and have amazing meats and cheeses. I order the number 6 and it was perfect. I got it on a foot long sourdough roll and the bread was delicious. It came with ham, turkey, and we got it with provolone cheese. The bread and the deli meat was superb. Shout out to yelp for finding this gem! My husband convinced me to go to the RV show, so we decided to go for a little date lunch after. Man oh man am I thankful we stumbled upon Uncle Giuseppe's! I ordered a #3 Bonanza. The meats and cheeses were absolutely incredible. Honestly, it's a sandwich I would have no problem eating every day of the week. That was the same for my husband and his meatball sub. He was blown away with how tender and flavorful the meatballs were. we finished our meal by sharing a fantastic cannoli. It was the perfect balance of crunchy and sweet.. but not too sweet. Delicious! Uncle Giuseppe's offers catering options as well. You could go in and order just meats and cheeses (use quite a bit of boars head meats and are the cheapest prices I've seen). I wish I had more room in my belly to try their side salads or order lasagna to go for dinner. I am already anxiously awaiting my next visit to Uncle Giuseppe's. I found this place watching TV and the owner touted their genuine east coast style deli. I will tell you the interactions with family that runs the joint were great. They were willing to help you with a very east coast approach. Was different and fun. You gotta be quick! I ordered the #16 Italian Guiseppes. Sandwich is full of meat (some I am not familiar with) and an amazing balsamic/Okl dressing. More sandwiches need a balsamic/oil dressing. The meat is freshly sliced along with the cheese. The bread was fresh and soft. I reccomend sticking with a 6 inch unless you have a big appetite. If you are looking for a sandwich in a east coast deli, this is your spot. Darn tasty and good.
