NO ONE ON STAFF IS WEARING MASKS DESPITE THE STATE LAW AND PANDEMIC. When I politely asked why, the hostess defiantly told me Corolla police are not enforcing the law, and they can do what they want. We stayed because we were starving and were treated to a close-up of a waiter shoving his order book all the way into his underwear in back. Gross. Our waiter Adam was great and infinitely more hygienic than other staff we saw. Food was a mixed bag. We'll never return. So disappointing after great visits in previous years. read more

Uncle Ike's is awesome :) It's a dive in the Corolla Light Town Center, but don't let the fact that it's a dive turn you away. My husband and I stopped in for lunch and we had a basket of fried pickles which were delicious. My husband had the chicken tenders which he said was great and I had the crabby chicken sandwich. Chicken was cooked perfectly and paired so well with the crab and sauce that the sandwich was topped with. Food was seriously a slam dunk and I would definitely go back again. My only issue was that the food took a pretty long time to come out, but the waitress had comped us our last round of drinks to make up for it which was really nice. This place was chaotic when we arrived! With all places in the area busy, we decided to leave our name and phone number. Never rec'd a call but returned within the hour. It's was all worth it. One member of our party, who's sort of an expert on Seafood Mac n Cheese, stated "over-the-top"! Another member said their crab cakes were exceptional. Server recommended blackened Mahi fish tacos, which had great flavors (just right)! Server was great, a surfer dude (looked the part anyway). He was helpful and food arrived quickly! Beer selection fairly good! Now, about the flies, don't sit outside if they make you nuts. Wish they had a fly strip or something to rid these from our food! Great food. We had two families in our group and visited on a Saturday night. We were seated quickly. The food was great. Many in our party had burgers and loved them. The seafood nachos and dynamite shrimp were also very good. I had the chicken with lump crab meat and the crabby fries and was very happy. One of the better meals we had in Corolla. read more

Each of us tried something different. Our meals consisted of, shrimp basket, bang bang shrimp, fried fish tacos, seafood nachos and macaroni and cheese. The seafood nachos are a must! Perfect size portion for a lunch or dinner and if you can manage possibly share with others as an appetizer. The fried shrimp basket was perfectly breaded and cook. The shrimp are rather large and fresh. The best way to describe them is succulent and plump! If you are in the mood for a variation of fried shrimp I would highly recommend the fried shrimp in sauce. The sauce is a perfect mixture of spicy and sweet. They literally melt in your mouth. What really makes this place stand out is their fish taco options along with the homemade sauce (roumilade) that they use. You can order them blackened, grilled or fried). Unless you aren't on the west coast it is very rare to find a restaurant that offers battered fried fish tacos. These tacos were exceptional with the perfect amount of sauce and batter. We were a group of 8 and not sure if we could get a table since it's a small place. We only had to wait about 10 minutes which was great. Fish Tacos were as reviewed by others. Good. We had blackened! Pasta dishes were marginal, but healthy portions. Sauce tasted jarred. Special fries were weak on the toppings and the green beans were heavily breaded and deep fried. Friggen legit. If you are up here you really do need to drop in as these guys are KILLING IT! Let's start with a beer list that goes from bud light to troegs. Delirium red ale is also here...so get it! Let's talk about the food. I haven't had a seafood nacho I liked until now. It was amazing. Enough heat to keep it fun but the seafood really was still great. Properly prepared shrimp and beautiful fish chunks all in a spicy cheeses sauce that was delivered surprisingly fast. Followed this up with chicken and waffles and I can't say enough about it. Fresh chicken with a beautiful gravy on top of a crispy waffle with syrup. Just epic. We waited all week to eat their "famous" chicken and waffles since they're only open for breakfast Friday-Sunday. We sat inside and service was very slow because they were understaffed, it was almost full with only 1 server and 1 bartender/server. 5 people in our party ordered the chicken and waffles, 1 ordered the french toast. Everybody enjoyed their meals but the gravy was pretty heavy. The waffle was cooked perfected and the chicken strips were hot and crispy but juicy on the inside. I could've probably done without the gravy and just went with syrup for a lighter version. The atmosphere is very casual, but the food is well thought out. I had the fish tacos -blackened MahiMahi. Decent food, great drinks, and super fun for karaoke! The owner hangs out here and likes to party. He loves hip-hop music and isn't afraid to show it lol. The fish tacos are phenomenal! I look forward to going to get their tacos every year! There are two soft tacos with two types of cheese, slaw, and fresh big chunks of fish ( plenty of fish). But, I think what sends it off the charts is the special sauce! The tacos are sitting in a homemade deep fried container - kinda like a taco bowl - it is super yummy too! Waited but no luck with service. Very disappointed - not in the food but just trying to get to the food. After reading Yelp reviews and getting a local recommendation, we stopped by to try out Uncle Ike's. It was a non-holiday Saturday around 1130am and we wanted some good food before we went out to the north end of the island for a 4 hr+ excursion. We waited around about 30 mins, got seated, and were ready to go. After a few minutes, a server came by to check on us. She left to go talk to the hostess. After a few minutes more, the server came back and said the kitchen was still "switching over" from breakfast and that she couldn't take any orders other than drinks. When asked how long it would be to finish the switch over, the server said she had no idea. Very odd. We couldn't wait for some undefined period of time so we left. Very odd and disappointing experience for us. Not sure we'll try going to Uncle Ike's again. read more

Best kept secret in Corolla! Great food, upbeat atmosphere, friendly attentive staff. If your dining in or taking out you can't beat this place. And it's a terrific breakfast spot with an all you can eat breakfast. I'll definitely go back here in my next trip down. read more
