One of my boyfriend and Is favorite places to eat at when we're in Orlando. They do get quite busy so we always try to make a reservation (or we sit at the bar which is totally fine too!) the staff is always really nice and the food is so so good. The queso blanco is amazing, I want to lick the bowl after The drinks are always pretty good too, the El Jefe is my boyfriends favorite drink of all time so he's always super excited to get it. I've been here before to have drinks & had an awesome experience at the bar. A friend of mine decided to have her birthday dinner here & it was simply a bad experience. The server was kind. She did her best but overall it was one wrong thing after another. We ordered the table side guacamole & was told they ran out. They seemed to be apologetic by giving us free queso. We understood & ordered our drinks. Our drinks took forever to come out. 7/8 of us were seated, so we put in our food order. The last friend joins us 15 minutes later & orders her food. It comes out immediately & has guac on it .. We were confused as none of the other food had come out yet & there was supposedly no guac. A manager explained that her food came out first because it was an appetizer. Also guac was saved for some meals but not offered with all. I also ordered a quesadilla & I didn't receive my food early. None of the excuses made sense. The rest of the food comes out about 15 min later. Our friend who received her food was already done eating. One meal was rang in wrong. This person was upset because they already waited 35+ min for their food. My biggest gripe was that although we were offered free queso, there was no actual apology. Just a bunch of excuses. The icing on the cake was receiving our bill to see that the tip was already included. The communication amongst the staff was awful. We received many mixed messages on why there were mistakes. There was a lot of finger pointing on who was responsible. All in all nothing was rectified & we were forced to tip 18% on top of it all. We came strictly for dessert. There were many open tables on a Thursday night but yet we still had to put our name in and wait an hour. We were eating at the restaurant next door for dinner and they would not take my name over the phone so I had to leave my table, walk over there and put my name in. So dumb. Anyways- after exactly one hour, we received a text that our table was ready. They sat us all the way in the back with no one else around us. It was so strange to be back there by the kitchen. Our server came with chips and salsa, which was weird because we said we came for dessert, but whatever. We all tried the chips and the salsa. The chips were thin, warm, a little greasy and not salted. The salsa was definitely roasted but not spicy. A lot of flavor but not hot. I asked for a decaf coffee and the girls had water. The chocolate piñata was all that we wanted. We were seated at 8:10. It took 37 minutes from the time we sat and ordered for the piñata to arrive. Felt like an eternity. The piñata itself was really cool. Great presentation. Takes up the entire table so get your stuff out of the way. We chose one person to break it up. The server then proceeded to chop everything into smaller pieces once it was all dumped out. The strawberries were red but more tart than sweet. The pineapple was delicious but the pieces were huge and cumbersome to dip and eat in one bite. The whip tasted like fresh cream. The chocolate itself wasn't too sweet so we didn't get sick of eating it. The churro pieces were so small. Probably the best part. Wish there were more. They were a tad over fried but maybe they do that so there is something crunchy on the plate? It was more than enough for four of us to share. The server was kind enough to split our checks but made an error in doing so (split it into thirds because two people were on one check instead of splitting it into fourths and giving that person two portions) Oh well. Poor service and disappointing food. Have been a loyal customer for over 15 years. The menu has been "updated" and the food lacks flavor. The "queso" tastes like melted American cheese served cold and clumpy. The hard tacos literally fell apart in your hands. The rice tastes like something from Uncle Ben's that you would microwave. When the manager came to greet our table (we did not ask for her-Nichole), we were honest and explained that before we even sat down we asked if the tortilla machine was working and was told yes. It wasn't and they were serving store bought shells. She was very defensive and told us that she was not in charge of the food, and it was the kitchens fault. They just got a new menu and the food has changed. Save yourself the money. We were not comped for any of our meal, paid and left. This place is in the high traffic Icon Park. You will be seated by a hostess. The inside is high quality and upkeep. The ambience makes you feel like you are in an expensive place. There's something for everyone at Uncle Julio's. My favorite thing is the "Swirl Margarita " , which is a mix of Frozen Margarita & Frozen Sangria. It's so good . I decided to stop at Uncle Julio's for National Margarita day during happy hour. So I'm not even sure what margarita specials they offered but during happy hour the swirl is $5 and so is the frozen margarita & uncle Julio's special margarita, which is basically a classic margarita on ice. They do not offer any food specials during happy hour, which was fine since I had an event i was heading to shortly after, but I did decide to grab a small guacamole. They give you warm chips and salsa complimentary so that was the perfect fix i needed to carry me until my event started. I also ordered a frozen margarita under the happy hour special which you can choose from strawberry, mango, raspberry & classic. I chose the raspberry. The server Tia was great & the set up inside is nice, it wasn't that busy and they offer inside and outside seating. The bar area has high tops, booths or you can sit right at the bar. Okay, this place blew my mind. We came in here thinking, "another touristy spot." Well it is in a highly populated tourist area but the food and service was better than I expected. We had a cool and prompt server. He kept our drinks filled and asked us how we're doing throughout our stay. I ordered the guava margarita to start with, which was good. Here is the kicker, the main course that got me drooling even right now: Carnitas Azteca Fajitas- savory braised pork with honey chipotle glaze, Lime crema, and fresh cilantro with sour cream, guacamole, cheese, and pico on the side! The meat was tender and melted in my mouth. I opted for low carb so instead of tortillas, I asked for lettuce wraps. I could bathe in that honey chipotle glaze that was all over the pork meat. Came here for dinner for the first time on Sunday evening. We made reservations just to be safe and were seated right away in the bar area. Our waitress was actually one of the bartenders. For a Mexican restaurant and her being the bartender, I thought it was made poorly- it was very sweet, watery consistency and not strong at all. A little disappointing start. We then asked to start with the tableside guacamole. The gentleman took a little while to come over to make it but it was very tasty once we got it. As for entrees, we both did the combo of steak and chicken fajita. I told them no peppers, and mine of course came out with peppers. The meat flavors were just kind of smoky with not much of a kick and kind of dry. Fajitas also didn't come out smoking like most other restaurants do. Unfortunately, due to me eh experience I will probably skip this restaurant next time I'm in the area. read more

We fell in love with Uncle Julio's when we lived in Fort Worth and were thrilled when they expanded across the country. I was really disappointed when we visited the Orlando location and found they were serving tortillas that were too thick and too small. When we inquired we were told the tortilla machine was broken. And that was after I went to the front desk to complain. Then the manager show up to defend the kitchen. Not the customer. A wonderful spot for a celebration! 4 of us went to Uncle Julio's to celebrate 1 finishing up his Degree program. We arrived for our 1130am reservation & struggled to get in the door. Thankfully, things went up from there (door was jamming. Staff was able to get things worked out). We ordered Queso ($11) to go with our chips, waters, and 2 of us had a glass of Sangria ($9 each). 2 of us shared a chicken & steak for 2 fajitas ($39), while the others had 2 combo enchiladas ($13.80) and 3 cheese enchiladas ($14.80).
