Everything we ate was exceptionally delicious and their kind hospitality was completely on point. The fried green tomatoes were outstanding as well and had the perfect texture and were well seasoned. The onion rings were very goodcand the coleslaw was very good as well. I did eat any fries butbim sure they were delicious. We also had some jalapeño poppers that were super tasty. Hands down i enjoyed the best catfish I've ever had in my life right here at Uncle Larry's. I plan on going to ATL every year for their free Memorial weekend jazz festival and I will drive all the way to Chattanooga to Uncle Larry's just to eat their food. The best fish in Chattanooga, seasoned and fried to perfection. They give you lots of food for the money. We had the small whiting fish and the catfish platters, both come with two large pieces of fish and two sides of your choice. They offer a variety of sides from fried okra, turnip greens, baked beens, coleslaw, fries, onion rings and more. While the fish was my favorite, they also offer ribs, pork chops and a few other southern favorites. The Brainerd Rd location is convenient to the airport. If you don't want to dine in, they offer a drive thru to place an order to go. The service is friendly and patient towards first timers. Inside is clean and tastefully decorated. After taking my mom to an appointment at Erlanger today, we stopped here and picked up some lunch and went to a nearby park and ate. Very friendly staff and the food was fresh and delicious. The whiting plate with white beans and fried okra was very good. Nice size pieces of fish. Mom enjoyed the perch plate. Got a piece of strawberry cake for later. I try to avoid a lot of fried food but today's lunch was worth it. Pick some up. read more

Stopped by this location with my brother who was in town for a short visit. Overall the food was very good and exactly what you expected from Uncle Larry's. This restaurant is a pick-up and drive through only location (which is different from the MLK location). But food is still delicious and fresh. read more

I saw Uncle Larry's on my way to visit my mom and decided we should try it for lunch! I ordered the fried green tomatoes and the white fish, beans, fried okra, and hush puppies for myself and the fried flounder , onion rings, Mac and cheese, and hush puppies. The fried green tomatoes had good flavor but were soft. Probably best eaten in the restaurant to retain some texture. The white fish has a bit of an after taste but my mom enjoyed the flounder. To me the star was those white beans - so tender and punched you with flavor! The disappointment was the hush puppies - they were not crispy, they were mushy. The gentleman who helped me was very friendly and informative about the menu. There is a good amount of parking. I would go back for those beans and go to Captain D's for the crispy hush puppies to go with them. read more

2 large fish plates and the side were not what we asked for. Our usual sides are white beans and slaw with hush puppies. The server at the window gave us one one plate cucumber salad and no hush puppies and the other plate 2 servings of white beans. I called the East Brainerd Rd. location, and got a very hateful woman on the phone, who only offered my two small servings of slaw, Wow!!! I order food yesterday, so drive for 30 minutes for 2 servings of slaw, this is so wrong!!! Can't imagine how this is good customer service !! read more

There isn't much for ambiance. The motif is that of simple diner. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The food is very delicious. I had the 2 piece catfish. Flaky and light. The fish was well seasoned. I chose turnip greens and pasta salad for my side both were flavorful. The pasta salad is very simple, and I enjoyed it. I ordered a large Mac n cheese. The container came half full. When I get told that size container is a large I expect it to be full. That I found irritating, and I never got my chili dog. I realized it when I got home. I wasn't willing to drive back for it. We have ordered take out a couple times since and it's always tasty. I don't order extra sides. read more

Okay, after years and years of saying "I don't like catfish" I got pushed into trying it at Uncle Larry's by my persistent husband on our last trip to Chatt. LOVE AT FIRST BITE!! So, I just recently became a local, having moved across country and had to come back to this location and dive into the Catfish again. Oh yeah. Just wonderful. And so are the staff and the ambiance at this place. Everyone is SO friendly. You feel like you are in the midst of a family reunion when you come here. Relaxed atmosphere. Great food served with broad smiles and a real interest in making sure you are liking what they are serving.
