This was my first time here. I ordered the shrimp meal, with fries, hush puppies and white beans. It was hot, fresh and delicious. The kids couldn't keep their hands of my shrimp! Also ordered a few hot dogs with slaw and chill, also great. The best part was how friendly, welcoming, and attentive the staff was, their service was top notch. Excellent service and well the food, what can I say? Someone put their foot in it. Delicious, hot, fresh. Great value for above average yummy goodness. The food here is delicious! My co-workers & I go almost every week. Extremely inexpensive and the family/staff are friendly. They ask you how long it will take you to get there if placing a call-in order so the food is hot once you pick it up. My food is always ready when I get there & always hot. A few weeks ago we decided to eat in...our server said "hang on a sec" she ran to open the door & told the man on the other side "hold on I have something for you" she ran to the counter & told the folks "give me that plate". She ran out & gave this man (appeared homeless) walking down the street a plate. He was so appreciative. My co-worker teared up once she realized what was going on. Very friendly people without the typical scripted welcome speech and pretentious blather of server introductions. Fast service, clean, and outstanding fried fish. I had both tilapia and perch and was as good as I've ever ate anywhere. Plenty of food, not skimpy portions. Reasonable prices, and Uncle Larry was a genuine nice guy. We made this a destination trip for our family on a road trip to Tampa. We read all the reviews and had to give it a try. What a wonderful family who owns / runs this restaurant. Terrell (son of Uncle Larry) took care of us. As busy as they were, he spent time with my family, talked to us and always made sure we had everything we needed. Most of my family had the Fried Catfish. I had the Pork Chops. We tried almost every side dish. The fish and chops were great. We especially liked the Cajun crusted fish. Love the slaw, the fried okra, fries. And, of course, the sauce! We met Uncle Larry as we were leaving. That man WORKS! Go for the food, but stay for the Family. My father and I came to Uncle Larry's after a trip to Ruby Falls. We were traveling from Atlanta. Once we arrived at the restaurant we were greeted and told to sit wherever we liked. (There were not many options as it was busy.) I had the Whiting meal and my father had the Catfish meal. The food came really quickly and it was hot and delicious. We opted to have the cole slaw and fried okra - they didn't disappoint. We wanted to try a dessert, but we were just too full. I did notice that the Banana Pudding was very popular. The only thing that could be improved is the restroom. The place had great customer service and everyone seemed so friendly. This is our go to place for fried catfish in Chattanooga. We have been coming with regularity now for a year or so and have always been well pleased with our meals. On our ride into downtown Chattanooga we discovered this little gem on MLK Blvd. I could smell the goodness and knew we wouldn't be disappointed. We got in just before closing and were told they had taken their last order for the evening. We told them we were visiting and the manager peeked from behind the kitchen window and happily said "oh yeah we gotcha." We ordered the perch fish sandwich all the way, with coleslaw and mustard, fries and hush puppies. OMG is all I can say! The fish was hot, fried but not greasy and the cornmeal has a hint of sweetness. Needless to say we sat in the car and devoured our food. Im not one to leave reviews ever so here it goes. Hub's got the Catfish Plate and I got the Catfish Sandwich. We both LOVED our food! The flavor was absolutely on point! The serves was AMAZING and everyone working greeted us with a smile and a "how you doing." There is only 1 complaint i have and i need to first say Im not cheap by any means BUT I don't feel like paying $0.25 to separate my food on my plate is a fee that should be charged along with paying $0.50 for each Tarter Sauce, BBQ Sauce, or any other sauces they have.
