We tried the shrimp gumbo, étouffée, and red beans and rice--and somehow, the chef surprised us by bringing out six dishes instead of five! Talk about going above and beyond! Several members of our family normally aren't fans of New Orleans-style food, so we honestly weren't sure what everyone would think. Well... every single person loved it! The food was so good that the bowls were literally licked clean. Everything was packed with flavor, perfectly prepared, and clearly made with a lot of love. Then came the surprise dessert: fried blueberry bread pudding bites with a bourbon caramel glaze. WOW! The plate didn't stand a chance--we cleaned that one too! And whatever you do, DO NOT leave without trying the beignets! They were absolutely amazing and the perfect way to finish the meal. What really made the experience special, though, was the hospitality. The chef and staff made our family feel so welcome, and the generosity and care they showed us made this more than just a great meal--it was an experience we won't forget. The salmon was cooked to my liking, the potatoes were soft and fluffy and the fried Brussels sprouts were absolutely divine and perfect. The remoulade was a little salty but it may have been just been my taste. The potatoes helped with that so it was not a deal breaker. My guy was pleased with his food as well and I could tell he enjoyed everything he ate. We agreed that we would take this trip back just to eat this meal again. It was truly a wonderful experience, from beginning to end. I highly recommend trying this gem out! Pro Tip: The restaurant validates parking. If you park in the lot across the street, do not prepay on the app or online. Ask the servers at the front to validate to save the $18 parking fee before you order and within 15 minutes after entering. Unfortunately, we didn't do this and the restaurant cannot reimburse the money after you've already paid. You've been warned!

I've had a great experience visiting several Uncle Larry's locations, but the East Brainerd one truly stands out. Make sure to ask for Ms. Money when you visit; she's incredibly helpful and kind. We would normally sit outside because of the nice deck and water views but it was a chilly spring afternoon. Service was OK. Not fast but not slow. She forgot things that we had to ask for numerous times but she also had several tables and two big parties so we think she might have been overwhelmed. We got the spinach cheese dip and shared a rack of ribs. Both were really good. The ribs were so tender they were falling off the bone. This is also a great place to visit while on your boat. They have boat parking at the marina but it often fills up during the busy summer months.
