This newly opened location just off of Pike Lake offers a semi-rustic dining experience with great service and excellent food. As would be expected from Uncle Larry's, the chicken is exceptional. They have a decent beer list and the potato pancakes were very good. We will definitely be returning here in the future. read more

Had dinner here tonight. It was really busy when we got there around 6:00 - more so than a normal Saturday night according to the staff. We ate at the bar because they said the wait for a table would be 45 minutes but we still had to wait about an hour for our food. The bartender (Emily, I think) was fabulous and helped make the time go faster. We had some cheese curds which were hand made and cooked perfectly. My wife had the fiesta salad and said it was very good. I had the prime rib special with cole slaw and sweet potatoe fries. The fries a slaw were great but the steak was overcooked. I ordered medium rare and it came out well done. It was still good, just overcooked for my taste, so I didn't say anything. We'll go back some time when it isn't so busy. read more

Visited on a Friday Night, as some friends told me about the awesome Chef Specials they run on Fridays. I was TOTALLY surprised by the Pan Seared Scallops over Risotto! First off, this place is hidden away & didn't seem like the "white linen" restaurant I'd get served this dish. But WOW!!! Gave it a second chance, but unfortunately the food is very underwhelming. This is not a good place for a fish fry. My fish was not cold, but was not hot. I would say barely warm. It was chewy and flavorless and actually hard to eat.. i did not finish. Wife had the crab legs and said they were ok but she would not recommend them to anyone. There are much better places in the area. Sorry. The staff is great and friendly. read more

We celebrated my father's 80th birthday with 20 people for a Friday evening and had an awesome experience! They provided the cake and made sure we had a great time. Uncle Larry's Rustic Inn just opened a few months ago in the location of the former Pike Lake House restaurant. We happened to be in the area today and decided to stop in. The main entrance is now at the top of the restaurant, and the street level door is now the handicapped entrance. We stated with drinks. The bloody was good, and spicy enough for my taste. The Mrs had a glass of wine, which was the single serving size bottle, but she enjoyed it just fine. We were going to order a burger, but there were too many appetizers that caught our eye, so we decided to do apps only. We started with the bang bang shrimp. Not deep fried, but slightly crispy. Served with fried wonton strips on a bed of lettuce, covered with a very tasty "bang bang" sauce. We also tried a half order of nachos. The homemade guac, WOW! You can taste how fresh this guac is. Outstanding. We finished with the Mac n cheese. So glad we made this choice! Super rich and creamy! Topped with toasted breadcrumbs, this is unbelievably good. When you come here, make sure to get this with your meal. You will not be disappointed. read more

We have had several meals at Uncle Larry's and all have been great. They just started having breakfast on Sat & Sun from 8 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. I had the Irish Eggs Benedict which was corned beef, sauerkraut, poached eggs on a english muffin and my husband had the meaty omlette. Let me tell you if you like corned beef be sure to go to Uncle Larry's because it is awesome. Also had the Thurs. night all you can eat ribs and they were very good also. This place started out good , but along the way Larry stepped away and Sylvester took over the restaurant part and they cant get a damn thing right. You call and complain just to let them know of a mistake and the bar apologizes but they got nothing to do with it and Sylvester has never even offered an apology. Its easier for him to just ignore your presence. This guy should be at taco bell not a decent restaurant. The bar area is still handled very professionally and drinks are reasonable. What a Gem of a find this afternoon. Uncle Larry was so very welcoming. Bloody's buy 1 get 1 Sat. & Sun, & tasty to top it off. The Philly cheesesteaks, by far one of the best I've had. The meat was so tasty & tender. Rueben was delicious as well. Both the fries & sweet potato fries were spectacular. Finally a decent establishment in Hartford. We had a party of 16 on a Friday night. Service was good and food was great. Most people had the all you can eat fish and chicken, so delicious. However the kids chicken tenders were very dry. And the space is very cramped for how many people they try to seat upstairs. read more

One of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. Our server was very inattentive and was very unpleasant and unprofessional. They did not place on the menu that there are no split checks for large groups as well as an outrageous automatic 20% gratuity added to large groups. Our group had no way to do one check and we were not told this before hand when making reservations. After one of us at the table found a solution for the server to do separate bills, we then ordered our food. Our fries were basically potato chips and had no flavor. The Philly cheesesteak sandwich was disgustingly dry and only Mayo was offered to "make it better". The Mac and cheese was also dry and had no flavor. What really made this whole experience horrible is when we got the bill, the server never acknowledged the auto gratuity. When I presented this situation to both the bartender and server, they got very defensive and made excuses saying that "this is what most restaurants do". I responded saying that it is no where presented on the menu and our server didn't acknowledge this what so ever. I have been in the restaurant business for over 15 years and I understand having auto gratuity in this business but one -be honest with the customers about it. Two-20 % for an auto gratuity is outrageous. After the discussion about gratuity the bartender proceeds to say that they feel they went above and beyond their service by accommodating the split bill situation and coming up with a solution. (After the customer actually being the one to find a solution and to also feel to have had to pull teeth with the business, I feel that was a slap in the face.) I can guarantee that we will never ever come back here again. It's a very poorly run business with much needed improvement in both the kitchen and management. read more
