They lied about the reason for cancellation. Multiple DoorDash drivers texted me with photo evidence that they were kept waiting.

Very disappointed by my experience with online ordering at the Stonestown location. I placed an order through the Uncle Tetsu website for delivery on a Saturday afternoon and was given the runaround for 2 hours before my order was cancelled. I attached screenshots of multiple DoorDash drivers telling me that they could not wait for my order because they were having issues with their ovens or other logistics. Four different drivers over the course of two hours texted me that the employees of Uncle Tetsu said it would be a 40 minute wait each time. I also tried to call the store just to cancel my order so that they wouldn't have to worry about it and I could order elsewhere. Also no answer over the course of two hours and there was no option to cancel online. When they finally cancelled my order, they lied and said the cancellation was due to the delivery driver not showing up for pick up! Well, I have conversations and pictures sent from the delivery drivers saying otherwise. Overall a very strange experience, and I would not have been upset if someone had just picked up the phone to let me know what was going on so that I could just move on with my day. I totally understand that logistical issues and equipment malfunctions can happen within reason, but COMMUNICATION was nonexistent here. I ordered from Serramonte immediately after and it was delivered in 30 minutes.

I've gone back twice this month for this soft and fluffy pandan cake! You might have to get 2 because this is small and barely 3 servings. It's really fluffy and light so a normal slice wouldn't do. You'd have to cut it in thirds! lol

While picking something up at Stonestown, we ran into Uncle Tetsu and we both had to pick something up. The staff member helping us was very sweet and patient with us as we asked her about the ube cookies and new cheesecake flavor. I ended up getting the mango cheesecake and some Ube cookies while my friend got a cheese tart and the small cheesecake. I'm sure my friend enjoyed her treats with her family as much as I enjoyed mine at home. I really liked the ube cookies and was debating whether I should make the hour drive to get more! The cheesecake was light and fluffy - there was a good hint of mango, but it wasn't overpowering. I would definitely come back for more when I'm in the area.

Uncle tetsu is one of the best cheese tart in the Bay Area! In my opinion, the original cheese tart from Uncle Tetsu's is consistently the best choice.

I ordered and tried the original cheesecake from Uncle Tetsu. It's a light, fluffy dessert that's easy to share with family or a small group. Pleasant and airy, though not something I'd go out of my way for.

Walking past Uncle Tetsu without buying anything should be illegal Even one little cookie had me questioning all my life choices--in the best way. Imagine what the cheesecake could do! Sadly, I was counting calories that day... but don't worry, Uncle Tetsu. I'll be back for a sweet revenge. Btw, I bought a second box of Ube Crumble before I left... I just cannot resist it!

Has seasonal flavor cheesecakes constantly rotating! Check back to see what they have! Had the Cherry blossom cheesecake (seasonal for spring) and it was so pretty with dried flowers on top. Not very strong flavor, it is subtle and not overly sweet

I decided on a whim to finally try this spot after eyeballing the case many times in passing. The cheese tart was delicious and I'm sure even better if warmed up?! Service was quick and friendly. If seen some spots have samples which is great to try new flavs as well.

Came here during the holidays. Some days there's a wait and other days if you're lucky you don't have to wait. On this particular day no line so, SCORE!! One can never go wrong with the good old Original Japanese Cheesecake flavor. It almost always NEVER disappoint. Love their cheesecake here. My family and I got hooked on this cheesecake ever since we tried it at Hillsdale Mall in San Mateo. We are so glad that we have one right in our own backyard in SF. We tried the Smores one during the holidays and although equally as delicious as the original the look and execution doesn't match. The place is kept clean which is a plus. Sometimes they even give out samples which my kids like. Will definitely be back to try out other stuff on their menu.

It's been a minute since I've been here but still just as good. I appreciate their seasonal flavors. The pumpkin and Ube (especially) tarts were fire. The crust was shortbread. The s'mores (another seasonal flavor) cheesecake was delicious. Not too overpowering. Just a hint of s'mores that didn't over power the actually tasted of the cheesecake. Def coming back to check out their other flavors!

"I bought an Uncle Tetsu cheesecake yesterday from the Stonestown location. Unfortunately, when I opened it at home, the cheesecake looked compressed and cracked, with deep marks in the center and a broken edge (see photo). This didn't look like the usual fluffy, smooth cheesecake I expect from Uncle Tetsu. I've enjoyed their cheesecakes before, so this was disappointing. Hoping this was just a one-time issue and that quality control can be improved."

    - Quick service and friendly cashier! - Cake is great - delicious and smooth! I have tried the original, strawberry, pandan, and cherry blossom for multiple occasions, casual craving, movie day and birthdays! A to-go choice!

Tried the burnt basque, original cheesecake, pandan coconut and the seasonal flavor mango. Customer service is great! Will definitely go back when I'm in sf again

I was not very hungry and ordered two pieces of sushi: Unagi Eel ($3) and Ebi Prawn ($3). The Unagi Eel was enjoyable, but the Ebi Prawn was underwhelming and too plain. My friend ordered Combo D: Salmon Teriyaki + Tempura ($15.95), which includes tempura vegetables, rice, miso soup, and a side salad. The side salad was not served. She enjoyed the salmon teriyaki, tempura shrimp, and vegetables, and requested extra wasabi. She was unable to finish the fried vegetables and requested a to-go container. Since she did not want the rice, I took it home. The prices are reasonable, and this was my first time trying sushi here, as I usually order donburi dishes. Service was not very attentive, and we had to call the waitress several times. Overall, I would return for my usual donburi, but I would skip the Ebi Prawn sushi in the future.

Service: We happened to get here fairly early and got seating at the bar right in front of the owner, which the restaurant is named after - Zentarou. We ordered a grilled whole squid and an omakase set with the server. I'm not sure the etiquitte about ordering at the bar vs server when ordering sushi, but it wasn't an issue. We also just got water and they are very prompt at refilling, which was nice. Food: Grilled squid - served with a lemon wedge and mayo sauce, you get a whole squid, grilled and sliced. The squid is tender with a snap when you bite into it. The flavor was mild and I didn't feel the lemon was needed when paired with the mayo. Omakase Sakizuke - 1. seaweed salad - light and refreshing and the perfect amount of bites 2. a chilled seaweed soup - mildly flavored shot of soup 3. squid broth - flavorful and bright - the trio was a perfect way to start a meal Otsukuri - I forgot to ask what kind of fish we had for the sashimi, but it was two pieces of mild fish that was pre-prepped with accoutrements, so no soy or other additives were needed Nigiri - I did a terrible job of documenting the 5 nigiri pieces in the first and second set, but I'll just tell you that each one had very distinct flavors that chef Zen paired wonderfully. Not only was the fish super fresh, but each bite melted in your mouth and was beautifully presented on the plate. (Please refer to all the pictures for the food) Chawan-mushi - I am absolutely in love with steamed egg, and this is no exception. I will say that this particular one was a little bit cooked more than my personal liking. It didn't have that jello-like texture that's smooth and jiggly. It was nice and hot and the flavors melded together wonderfully. Suimono - the fish broth to end the omakase was lovely. Very light and fragrant without being overpowering and salty. It was bright and felt cleansing to bring the meal together. Zen was really selling the wagyu nigiri and my friend was still hungry and really wanted it, so we sprang for it and it did not disappoint. It was buttery smooth with gold leaf to top it. I could have eaten five of these. TL;DR - ambiance was good, service was wonderful, food was delicious. Would highly recommend, but make reservations. We got lucky with an early walk in at the bar, but when we left, there was a huge line out the door.

I think its because I got one of the cheaper tastings and we also got rolls, maybe the fish quality is better for the omakase or more pricey tastings? Not sure. But I didn't love it. For first-time visitors, I'd recommend ordering a couple of maki rolls to get a feel for what they do. We tried the salmon and tuna maki, and both were buttery, fresh, and practically melted in our mouths. The spicy tuna roll was also delicious with just the right amount of heat. My only critique is the rice. It didn't have that classic premium short-grain sushi rice texture I'm used to. It reminded me a bit more of steamed rice, which took away from an otherwise very enjoyable roll. A special shout-out to Katelyn for her warm and friendly service. She made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. We were also served a pot of hot loose-leaf tea that was rich, full-bodied, and the perfect way to end the evening. Overall, fresh fish, friendly service, and a relaxing atmosphere. If they fine-tuned the sushi rice, this would easily be a five-star experience. We'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu.
