Under the Cork Tree is a cute tapas restaurant in Sandy Springs! We were able to make a reservation for outdoor seating on Open Table. We did have to still wait a little bit once we got there, but it wasn't too long. This restaurant is definitely on the pricier end of tapas restaurants, but the food was good! My boyfriend was absolutely in love with the Lamb Mergeuz; he even got an order to go! My favorite part was the cheese plate, which we got with Manchego cheese. I loved the combination of cheese, crispy bread, dates, and almonds. I'm picky when it comes to meat and since they didn't have any chicken breast options, I did feel a little limited on menu items I could order. While I'm not usually a pasta person, I ordered the Truffle Cacio e Pepe, as I was hungry and didn't know what else to order besides the brussel sprouts. The pasta was very good, but $13 for a small plate of pasta without any meat or veggies is pretty steep. $10 for a bowl of brussel sprouts also seemed unreasonable to me. Overall, we enjoyed our experience with my boyfriend loving all the meat dishes he ordered, including the lamb, steak, and chicken. And while I also thought the food was good, I did think the tapas were overpriced and limited in non-meat options, which might deter me from wanting to return. If you're okay with the higher price and like trying different meats, I would recommend giving this restaurant a try! read more

Under the cork tree is definitely a go to for upscale tapas and a really nice date night in the Atlanta area! It's in a pretty popular shopping complex with a bunch of restaurants, which makes parking a bit challenging during meal times, but there is a deck that has plenty of space if you can't find something in the lot. There's something going on with their reservations system: we had a reservation to sit outdoors, but for some reason they didn't have any outdoor seating when we got there for another 2 hours, so we settled with sitting indoors - not a big deal since it wasn't very busy so we were probably 10 feet away from the nearest table. We started with drinks and I can't remember what the names were, but I would recommend the vodka and berry drink and the tequila drink. We then ordered a bunch of tapas (like almost everything on the menu) and everything was at least a 6/10 with some dishes being complete stars and 10/10. Stand outs: 1. The chicken skewers were seasoned so beautifully and flavor fully and the pickled onions on the top was the perfect texture addition 2. Albondigas were massive and I loved the sauce! 3. The hanger steak was a perfect medium rare and super tender with a great sauce Besides those, we thought the brussels sprouts, octopus, cacio e pepe, and patatas bravas were good. The only two dishes I wouldn't get again were the bone marrow (a little pricey for the small amount you got) and the ribs (they were a little over cooked). For the pricing, it's pretty standard to Barcelona, but a little more expensive than Eclipse di Luna, which are the two other big tapas restaurants in Atlanta. It is decorated more beautifully than both of them though, so if you like the Instagram aesthetic of restaurants, this place wins that! read more

We no longer live in Atlanta but back for a graduation celebration. We had a planned group of 12 in the wine room, set up and organization was easy, informative and great to work with. We have been to this restaurant many times in the past and it was a "go to" when we lived in Sandy Springs. Parking is pkentiful and easy, very nice and relaxed build out, full bar space but the focus is on wine. We started with a toast which was nicely set up, went right into a couple of big charcuterie trays, really tasty and well done, wonderful combinations of cheese, sausage, nuts and a delicious pork pate. Mixed in a few other apps like chicken skewers and bacon wrapped figs all plentiful, perfectly prepared and great starters. Everyone ordered an entre, salad or small plae and I got the mixed meat platter for the table, the food is Mediterranean in style and really satisfying. We finished with a delicious and perfect chocolate cake that was a piece of Art. Service was incredible and the entire experience was perfect and at a very reasonable cost. Can not say enough about the staff and the entire experience. Highly recommend and will repeat whenever back in ATL. read more

Food and drinks were good but service and the way we were rushed out took away from a great girls night. When we asked our waitress for recommendations she just told us "the food is the easiest part of her job and everything is good." Okay, but at least tell us a popular dish or something. We also had to wait a while for drinks to be refilled or for the waitress to come check on us. You do need to order the paella in plenty of time for it to be prepared, and we ordered it first thing when we got our drinks. One paella dish came a good ten minutes before the other so it was awkward waiting on all of our food. What really made us decide to never eat here again though was the way that the manager? treated us and rushed us out. While we were putting away our cards after signing receipts and getting our stuff together he came up to us and asked us how everything was. We told him it was great, thinking that was it. He then said "we'll we've let you stay here and finish your desserts but unfortunately we need to use this table now." Thank you for letting us finish the desserts that we paid for. We were ordering food and drinks the entire time and if they needed the table so urgently then that should've been communicated with our server who could've sped up service. But that comment from the manager was unprofessional and made us regret spending the $$$ we did. read more

First time trying this restaurant. Enjoyable atmosphere. Service was less than stellar, but they may be short-staffed due to COVID. It was Saturday evening, and we didn't have reservations, so we waited over 30 minutes just to be seated. Waiter was slow to take our order. I ordered two tapas and requested one as an appetizer and one as the main meal, so my date and I could eat together. My date's salad arrived; nothing for me. After just 2 - 3 minutes, the waiter brought my date's entree and his tapas; again, nothing for me. After waiting about 5 minutes, I finally took a few bites of his meal. For 10+ minutes my date had his entire meal, including Filet Mignon, while I had nothing. He had almost finished eating by the time my plates arrived: Delicata Squash Gratin and Truffle Cacio e Pepe. The Squash Gratin has Gruyère Cheese, and this proved to be an unpleasant combination. The Truffle Spaghetti had far too much black pepper and was over buttered; sadly, those two flavors overpowered the actual food. My date's steak was quite rare and not by request. His Brussel Sprouts were severely over-grilled/roasted to the point of being unrecognizable by sight or taste; it was like eating flavorless char. Very difficult to get the server's attention. Even when he stopped at the table next to ours, he walked away quickly without checking on us. Really wanted to enjoy this restaurant, but this evening did not make me want to return. read more

I booked our office Christmas party this year at Under the Cork Tree. From planning the party with Mandy, the events manager, to paying the bill after dinner, every step went smoothly. We have 17 employees and they accommodated us comfortably in the bar area. The ambiance of the bar was calming and we had the area all to ourselves for the duration of the gathering. From start to finish, we all had a lovely time! The food was absolutely delicious and every dish they served to our party looked picture-perfect. The servers were patient and helpful with questions or requests. Prices were in line with the quality of food and we found it to be a good value for our experience. Unfortunately, the food was salty and lacked flavor. The warm olives were anything but warm. The steak was salty. The seafood paella was the awful. It was mushy and the seafood was fishy. We ate a quarter of the dish... None of the dishes came with utensils; had to ask for a spoon for the paella; of course had to wait 5 minutes to flag down our waitress. And another 5 minutes to bring the spoon... Service was awful; our waitress was very flaky and disheveled. And to top it all off... she adjusted our tip; almost tripled the amount we had given her. Having visited here already couple of times, I knew Under the Cork Tree is of fantastic Mediterranean style and quality. So, no disappointments this time either. I started with Iberian acorn-fed ham, i.e., jamón Iberico de bellota. The presentation and thin cut were just about perfect, and the taste is pretty much closest to the most heavenly gourmet you can get. After my time in Madrid, I am extremely happy to find a place to enjoy such a treat, so challenging it is to find it anywhere outside of Spain. As for the main plate, the short ribs were absolutely fantastic. Red wine reduction applied, and slow cooked to butterly tender, the experience reminds me of even the highest grade of Sonoran barbacoa -- I admire the skills of the chef of this place! Oh my! We drove 45 minutes to check this place out, and it did not disappoint. The host was extremely nice and greeted us as we walked into the front door. Our server was very cool, laid back, and knowledgeable about the menu. The seating was a little tight for 9 people, but we made it work. The food was out of this world. So good! I started with the oysters, and they did not disappoint. We got a lot of tapas and everything was so good we ordered it twice. The building probably had one of the cleanest bathrooms I have ever been into. If you're every in the Sandy Springs area, I recommend trying this place. Good Job! $$$$ read more

This is a Sandy Springs neighborhood restaurant. Nice ambiance, with comfortable seating, patio option available and a special occasion room for up to 20 people. Great wine options. Some of the better dishes include the wood fired half chicken, trout , hanger steak, broccolini , crispy artichokes are delicious. As far as wine and tapas places go, I think this place is a winner. The wine list is extensive and the buddy found a bottle of Orin Swift that he wanted to try. It happened to be during happy hour and we over ordered. I remember the patatas bravas, the fish, and the cheese was very good. Certainly makes us want to try even more tapas. Based on the tapas we've sample so far, the rest of the menu look even more delicious. Certainly coming back to try the other offerings We grabbed the table in the lounge area, which I felt was a better option. After all, this is a spot to share tapas, wine and conversation. I've been here like 3 times and have loved it every single time. Every single dish is so unique and executed perfectly. Our last visit included : chicken satay (moist and flavorful), the cacio e Pepe was incredibly fresh and I would bathe in it, fried artichokes- sooooo surprisingly delicious with tang and no sogginess, rounds of coffee drinks, and of course, dessert. I think I have a new dessert every time I come but love the artistic approach to it everyone. If the weather permits, the patio seating is a fantastic vibe. Ever since Under the Cork Tree took over in the Prado, I only recently got the chance to give them a try. Me and the sister from another mister decided to meet up here for drinks, tapas and desserts and were not disappointed. Our server was very friendly and mostly helpful, although he disappeared sometimes randomly. He helped us choose some of the more popular tapas after putting in our drink order for some pumpkin spice cocktails! They have some seriously seasonal drinks on their menu, so definitely give them a try. My favorite tapa was definitely the artichokes. They were crispy and flavorful and delicious. The patatas bravas were pretty good, although nothing I haven't tasted before. We were not a huge fan of the muhamarra (roasted red pepper dip), but it was fine. The Tunisian chicken skewers were meh. The chicken was super tender and cooked well, but the flavor profile was just a bit off. Our server noted that this is a popular item, but maybe that it's just not for everyone. He took the chicken off our tab, which he was nice of him. After ordering a gin cocktail, we were ready for some dessert. The warm date cake we ordered was PERFECT. It was, as promised, warm, and super moist. The orange blossom was a nice touch. wow this food was amazing. i went with a group of 5 and i think we tried almost every item and drink off the menu. the highlight of our night was our amazing server Gabriel. as soon as we put an order in, i swear he basically pulled it out of his pocket. he was also funny, and it's nice to have some laughs with the server. i enjoyed every unique dish and the house red was smooth and silky, even though it was $9. i will be coming back as soon as possible and hosting a dinner here. read more

I'm sorry but the reviews are hype. I have a very eclectic pallet and I found the flavors were severely lacking. There are much better Spanish Tapas restaurants in Atlanta- i.e...Barcelona and Bulla Gastro Bar. If you like those two restaurants, I wouldn't recommend Under the Cork Tree. The hanger steak lacked any flavor- we had to add salt. We ordered medium and got rare + (plus). Speaking of meat-- We we're seated next to an open kitchen prep area and watched as a prep cook "cleaned chicken. Long beard/long hair and no hair net. As he was cleaning the chicken over the trash bin, he would repeatedly let it touch the sides. He went back and forth touching the trash bin and cleaning the chicken. Pretty sure that's a health violation. The potatoes (which we thought would be hard to mess up) had the faint taste of dirt. Honestly, I'm really shocked at the great reviews. The best thing we tried here were the flash fried artichokes. I will say that it is a beautiful restaurant and the service is great but that isn't enough for me. My fiancé and I stumbled upon this restaurant and were blown away by the hospitality and service we received here. We just moved here from Chicago and are still learning the different restaurants around our home. Our server, Ashley, provided us with the best recommendations and was so attentive and kind throughout our entire meal. Charlton, the general manager, stopped by our table and made sure we were enjoying our meal. He also gave us tons of recommendations for different places around our new home. Our service has always been wonderful when we go to Under the Cork Tree especially Brian. The interior is nice and inviting. This restaurant is conveniently located in the Prado plaza off of Roswell Rd. They have a patio area as well. The food was very tasty and liked the variety of tapa dishes they offered. Set up on a blind date who asked me to meet him here for drinks. They didn't have much of a vegan menu but the bartender (who was great and handsome) said all the pastas could be made vegan. Location In the busy Prado plaza where there is lots of parking all around. Decor Nice lounge vibe but very intimate, nicely decorated, and great for a date night. Food Humus night-tahini -humus with pita - good Falafel fritters - good Butternut squash tortellini - while I'm not a big squash fan the pasta was cooked perfectly and great flavor. The food was good but tiny portions and for me this is saying something because I don't eat a lot and I ate all of my food. While they have a full bar and drink menu I wasn't in the mood for anything in particular so I told the bartender I was allergic to orange and he could surprise me. I was pleasantly surprised my drink was sweet, strong and right on time keep your concoction coming. When they reopen I will be back to see what their new menu has in store. read more

The food was beautifully plated and looked amazing but it left a lot to be desired. My husband and I weren't actually looking for anything amazing to eat. We were actually parking to have some wings and queso at Taco Mac next door. We parked and decided to try it. This was around 1:30pm ish. We had calamari (not that great at all but we've noticed restaurants don't do calamari that great anymore), the albóndigas (SOOOO GOOD!!..get them), salt cod croquettes (not much cod in them and they were very dough-like not really mashed potatoes), Mexican omelette (needed a lot of salt and pepper. Very bland), and the Americano Gordo (bone marrow meh... eggs bland.. sausage was so good! Ask for the house made sausage!! Potatoes needed salt and pepper like a lot, bacon good) We had the cheesecake to go. I haven't eaten it yet but will soon... We went during brunch which was probably why it wasn't that great. We did enjoy the drinks... I had an old fashion and the plane to Madagascar (soooooooo good!!) id def go for the drinks but the food was meh. Me and my friend came to Under the Cork Tree for martini Wednesday and it was fabulous. The ambience was very trendy and dimly lit there were two bar areas one was in what looked like a kitchen area and had more lighting while the other was in the back near the wine cellar and had more of a date night feel. This place is a hidden gem i've walked by this place before but never went in because I've only ever seen older people who look to be in their 50s in the establishment. I think it would be really cute if they had an industry night that attracted more young professionals came to happy hour but either way it was a good experience. The bartender Britney was great she made amazing drinks! Even though the martinis were $5 you get your money's worth also don't worry they're not using the cheap bottom shelf liquor, they used a decent vodka called Since my friend is scared of foods she can't pronounce or has never had (because of the Mediterranean and Greek ingredients) we ordered two basic tapas of basically fried potatoes wedges and the crab and dill empanadas. I have to say the potato wedges were better than the empanada but both were great to snack on while we drink. All in all definitely coming back next Wednesday for a martini or even on Thursday night when they host a free wine tasting. read more

Exceptional staff and food! Came here after work for a late lunch with a friend on a weekday. Loved that it was pretty empty since we came at 3pm (time when they are close to transitioning from lunch to dinner). Our server thoroughly answered our questions and even split our entree into two plates. Food: had the falafel and bacon wrapped dates. So yummy! They have so many choices for tapas and their drink list is on an iPad since it's pretty extensive. Love all the choices here! After lunch, my friend and I hung out on the patio and the guys were super sweet and volunteered to take pics for us one guy even gave us the history of why the place is called Under The Cork Tree. I was so excited to take visiting out of town friends to a place that is different and unique. The menu seemed to hit that requirement.. It was a Mediterranean inspired selection hitting different spots of Northern, Southern and Eastern Mediterranean. It made me want to meet the chef; the creator of these dishes. The chef came out to introduce himself to our table. His name was Brian. Nice guy but sounded like he was caught cheating on a paper.. I asked him about the Tunisian chicken skewers and what made them "Tunisian".. he did not have an answer.. I asked about the Lebanese influence on other item.. the Muhammara..etc. He admitted the previous chef came up with most of the menu and then, he added a few by looking up stuff on the internet.. I told him I knew my Mediterranean various cuisines and that I would be judging his food to see if it met the "criteria".. the food came out.. not bad but not what the menu claimed.. Brian never visited to check if we liked his food. Our waiter told us he went home.. Conclusion, the food is ok but not great. The menu is total fluff written in a super creative manner targeting a patron who does not get around much..).. This review is based on only one visit, but everything we had was excellent. I'll start with one of the best cocktails I've had in Atlanta, a perfectly crafted colada with homemade allspice dram and clarified coconut milk. For food we snacked on small plates of Boquerones Toast, Keftedes, Octopus ala Plancha, and Grilled Hanger Steak. All were amazingly flavorful and well balanced. I think people who do not like authentic tapas might enjoy this restaurant. We were not impressed with the food or service. When we asked about a specific cocktail, our server informed us she had never tried it and that she was on day three of working after a few months hiatus. Two of my friends ordered cocktails and another friend and I ordered a carafe of sangria but WARNING to anyone who likes authentic sangria, DO NOT ORDER SANGRIA HERE. It arrived without fruit and tasted like the bar had emptied a bottle of boone's farm into the carafe. We sent it back and ordered a bottle of wine instead, which even though it took awhile to arrive, was much better. I guess our server was over us at this point because she didn't even let us try the wine, she poured the glasses and walked away. As far as food, we had the mussels, artichokes, meatballs, medjool dates, calamari, and a few cheeses. The mussels were bland and lacking flavor, the dates were ok, the calamari was unimpressive, the cheese was tasty, and the artichokes were decent (possibly the best of what we tried so we ordered a second plate). I didn't try the meatballs so I can't speak about the flavor. We did order a chocolate tart with PB icecream for dessert which was tasty. The cheese tray was also part of our dessert and was accompanied by some fruit and nuts. Other than the server slamming it down on our table, it was fine. Let me start with a much needed PSA that Under the Cork tree has changed their menu entirely and is no longer a tapas restaurant. Prior to this experience tonight, my family and I were big fans of Under the Cork tree and found the food phenomenal on multiple occasions. However, we decided to give it the benefit of open mind since they changed their menu and ordered regular entree items from the menu. To start we had espresso martinis which were quite strong and taste solely of vodka, no espresso. For the main course I ordered the steak frites which the steak was lacking in flavor and over cooked and the fries were soggy. My mom got the Cacio e Pepe which was a staple on the old menu, but this time the pasta was very oily and also lacked flavor, which made it taste completely different than we were used to. The staff and atmosphere were good but it is a disappointment for such a great establishment to have such a drastic downgrade in quality. And even though the menu changed for the worse, the prices are still hefty. In conclusion, please spend your money at any of the other nicer restaurants in Sandy Springs because the old Under the Cork tree is gone for good. read more

My husband and I came to Under the Cork Tree for an early dinner on a Friday night. We parked in the parking garage and once inside we were seated at the "couch" table. Our waiter was fantastic and very attentive. I got a smoked rosemary cocktail, which was my favorite thing of the night. While the atmosphere and service were great, the food was a little lackluster for me. The spicy mussels was the best thing we got but it still was pretty bland. The gnocchi Bolognese lacked flavor and the medjool dates were very dry. We decided to end our meal and go get dessert elsewhere rather than continue to try different tapas. Went there for dinner and was pleasantly surprised by both the quality of the food and service. THe restaurant is located in the same plaza as a bunch of other restaurants like marlow' tavern, taco Mac, etc. so there are plenty of parking nearby. The restaurant itself looks nice and modern with glass doors, the interior has lots of wood and looks classy. We ordered the pepper dip, crispy potatoes, spicy lamb, chicken chorizo paella and the meat and cheese plate. Everything tasted so good! The chorizo in the paella is so far the best I've ever had, and they give you A LOT of chicken in that paella. Our waitress Michelle was the best! Super friendly and attentive! We met up here with some friends and we were disappointed. I would really rate this place 2.5 stars. I have had this place bookmarked for a while and expected it to be good based on other reviews. The ambiance is nice. But service here was bad. Our server was basically non-existent. And we were waited on by another server assigned to different tables. He only checked on us twice the whole time. And it took forever for them to take out orders. The food was okay. A bit too salty for my taste and the skirt steak was tough. Also, we ordered 2 of the burrata and only one came out. The server told us that the kitchen removed one of them because they thought it was a mistake.
