This place is straight out of the 1950's. Although they call themselves a seafood restaurant, their menu is limited to mostly fried or broiled shellfish. They also have flounder, obviously (did I mention 1950?) and a couple of other fish dishes, all equally unappealing. They do not offer any kind of modern seafood dish so if you are looking for blackened tuna or anything else that doesn't taste like melted butter then you are out of luck. Fortunately they also don't have sushi (and if you saw the inside of the place you would understand my relief). This place made its name during Levittown's heyday and hasn't changed since. This place is very easy to miss as where it is located on Route 13. Plus the parking is very limited. But, the food is good and the people are friendly. Their prices are pretty good for what you get. They pretty much have every kind of seafood. There are combo plates that have a little bit of everything. They have fried, baked and steamed. They have many different types of seafood soups. They are very good. They have many sides, corn on the cob, onion rings, hush puppies, potatoes, sea chips which are like sliced potatoes they fry and are so yummy. They do have alcohol. So you can enjoy a mixed drink with dinner. One word that comes to mind here though is small. They are not a huge place and the tables have paper on top of them. My boyfriend took me here for a birthday dinner in July based on its reviews. I don't even know where to begin, it was small, outdated, hot, not clean, everything was fried etc. Please do yourself a favor and read through the reviews. 3.5 stars but I couldn't quite do 4. I came in on a Friday night, only two tables occupied, so no wait, we picked our seats and were promptly greeted by our waitress for the night. She was nice as I looked over the menu. I had just had the best crab cake ever so I dared not order that, so I opted for beer battered fish n chips, no slaw hush puppies please. The wait wasn't long, thank goodness because it was freezing in there. Looked around it was a no frills, probably mainly a local spot, but they were welcoming to me. Our food arrived, his shrimp looked better than my fish but I didn't pout, lol. I did take some of the fried shrimp though, which was delicious! My fish was ok, I've had better, but I've also had worse, lol. The fries were round like a chip, but thicker.. good, but hard to get salt to attach to them how I wanted. The hush puppies.. now they were delicious! Would I come back yes, definitely will get hush puppies and probably switch to the shrimp. read more

Let me start with this: I have worked in the restaurant industry, I know how it works and what it takes to run. Upon entering the restaurant I tried to put my name in but not one of the 3 waitresses would give me the time of day because they assumed I was with another party. Not sure why since I came in well after them. I was finally able to let them know I was not in their party and that I was a party of 4 adults and one toddler. We were told 15-20 minutes until a table would be cleared for us. We were seated well before that because the waitresses were getting irritated that we were standing in the way. When we were seated the waitress failed to give us menus, a member of my party had to get them. We were also not given silverware at this time. As we were sat another party came in and waited a few minutes before being seated. The waitress came and took our drink order and promptly returned with them. Not o and then collected our food order. The clam Chowder soup tasted terrible and unlike it had ever tasted before. It wasn't even the right color. Do you think the waitress asked us if everything was ok??? Well she didn't We then waited nearly an hour for our food to come out of the kitchen. Remember we're with a toddler, oh and that other party were served and out the door before we even got our food. when we finally got our food we were still without silverware. One person in our party asked for the cod to be replaced with flounder which is normally a $1.00 up charge. Instead she got a lot of batter surrounded by tiny bits of fish scraps. My toddler filled up on crackers and wouldn't eat. I was upset at first then I tried a the rubber ... I mean overcooked shrimp, and saw why he refused to eat it. Everyone's seachips were over burned. Not one time through out the whole meal did our waitress surface to check on us. When we left I saw her smoking a cigarette and arguing with someone on her cell phone. read more

Growing up in Levittown I remember passing by this place especially when we went to Dairy Delite, but somehow we never remember going. My parents started going here more recently and luckily on my most recent visit home they took me and I am so glad I did. An unassuming place with really good seafood. LOVE it here. It's not much to look at - the opposite of fancy - but it has great personality. Totally no-stress, relaxed dinner and worth the 45 minute drive up from the city. I always get the broiled scallops, sea chips and hushpuppies; I've never been disappointed. I have been going to Under the Pier for years. It always has delicious food. The prices are low and the service is fast. I agree with the previous review in that you would not want to judge the food by the appearance of the restaurant. This is a place that only locals would know how good it really is. Now that smoking is banned the only improvement the restaurant needs is to take credit cards. But maybe the understated appearance and cash only policy adds to its quirky charm. read more

This place is amazing. Definitely No Frills, but in a nice way, you don't feel unwelcome if your not a regular. This the No Name is Boston, but smaller. Honestly, as good of a crab cake as I have had anywhere, despite being fried. If they are as good grilled, they could be the best I have ever had. Pretty solid menu and it is a quaint and quiet dining environment, very laid back. I only wish they weren't cash-only and accepted credit cards. Tasty little seafood shack off Rt 13. Found it right here on Yelp. Looks like it belongs at a marina or shore town. Tables are covered in brown paper and have oyster crackers and horseradish waiting for you when you sit down. The menu is typical seafood fare. Chowders, broiled or fried shellfish and fish. We really enjoyed our fried feast of hushpuppies, New England clam chowder, fried clams, stuffed fried shrimp and broiled flouder. Also make sure to order plenty of sea chips, which are their very good version of sliced french frys. The service was slow but steady. The restaurant served liquor/beer. We went on a weeknight and sat down immediately but it is a small place and probably has a wait on the weekend. We enjoyed our meals and would recommend a visit when your craving seafood. read more

This is a tiny shack, but serves excellent food. Homemade soups. Hand battered seafood. Best fish and chips I've had in ages. Everything seamed to be made from scratch instead of using the frozen stuff that many restaurants use. The place filled up while we were eating, but we never felt rushed to leave. The only negative I had was that they are a cash only business, and have a ATM in the doorway with a $3 surcharge. I lived in Levittown for over 50 years and have been going to Under the Pier for over 30 years. Tom, the owner and Darlene(my favorite waitress) are as nice and efficient as it can be. I love this place. The Broiled Cod is the best in the WORLD-ANYWHERE.. I moved to Fla. 10 years ago but whenever I go back home, I GOTTA go to Under the Pier.
