If I get a pedi I ha e Tina do it, but my tweety watches over the ladies that does my pedi to make sure they are doing it right and to tell them what I like. I trust her and I will only go to her. Mondays are awesome with 30% off. Kelly, Helen, Tina and everyone else (can't remember their names), they all do a good job and make sure it's right. If something happens and the polish doesn't last as long as it should, they will let you come in and they will fix it for free. They have lots of gel nail colors to choose from and many different brands if some work better than others for you. You never have to wait too long but it's always best to call ahead for an appointment. read more

Walked in on a Friday afternoon for an impulse treat myself day, and got seated quickly for my usual gel mani & pedi. They have an excellent selection of colors for gel as well as regular nail polish. Great prices as well, and the ladies were friendly. Went in for a regular pedicure , they kept insisting on getting gel because it lasts longer and doesnt chip. So I went for it . Got white GEL and it chipped the next day . No joke . I don't even do any crazy activities either . Worst $30 spent . read more

Really nice spot. The women who work there are very nice. I walked in around 10am on a Saturday and only had to wait 10 mins for a chair. The place is clean, pretty blue on the walls. They sanitize every tool. They use fresh tools on each person. The only downside is that they don't let you too on your credit card. Which I totally understand why but I felt terrible since I had no cash and this was my first time here. Win was very gracious about the whole thing since I was new. I will be sure to more than over tip next visit. This is my new favorite spot here in the South Bay! Manicures & Pedicures are long lasting. read more

Was looking for a new place and will continue. Very Small and kinda busy. Got powder dip and wasn't super impressed. First time doing it. She didn't clean up my nails after she was done had big hunks of sanded nail under my nails after. Didn't push my skin back so it was stuck to nails and also didn't lotion or anything. Paid a lot of not much in return. Pedicure was good. Nothin special. read more

I got acrylics for the first time here. The woman doing my nails, who was also working the front desk while she was working on me , was INCREDIBLY ROUGH. I was CUT three times. When I told her that it hurt, she didn't change the way she way doing it at all. The blood was visible yet she still went over the cuts with tools. Honestly, I'm not too confident in how sanitary their tools are. Hopefully I don't get an infection :) I was with my friend at the time, and she was charged $30 while I was charged $35 although we both had the same length. Another important factor is that THEY DO NOT TAKE CREDIT/DEBIT CARD. They do not tell you this and I only found out when my nails were half way done. I only found out because there was a tiny paper on the wall as a "notification". Overall, the service was trash and I'm in pain. Would NOT recommend. read more

Kelly cut my toe nails and caused an ingrown toe nail. Three days later it got so bad I had to have surgery on my toe.

I have had a lot of bad experience with nail salons, but not with unique! I love how nice the staff is and how consistent they are with their work. No matter who i get, I know i will get a quality mani/pedi. I reccommend this nail salon to all my friends and family bc it really is the best. I've been coming here for 2 years and have referred many clients. After a 16 hour shift walked in to get a pedicure. The woman who did my pedicure continued to cut me on 3 different occasions around the cuticle area. I said ouch! And I thought she got the hint. Nope! She dug deep into my big toe a made a cut. Anytime she applied polish it burned. When it was time for her to clean around my cuticle I told her not to go around that area. She looked at me as if she didn't know what I was saying. I asked the owner please explain I don't want acetone around the area she just cut. Communicate this in her language please. My nail tech then starts talking shit in her language. Babbling off! I asked the owner to translate what she was saying. She gave me a lame translation but oh well! After all this happens my nail tech goes around the cuticle with The acetone brush and burns me! Wtf??? I get up from my chair rightfully so very upset. I still had to pay! The owner gladly took my money. I hope$17 was worth losing a client. Money hungry, no sense of customer svc. read more

I had been going to Unique Nails for many years. The service started to slowly get worse and worse but recently it has become completely unacceptable. I will NEVER recommend Unique Nails to a family or a friend ever again! A few months ago I made a mani/pedi appointment for myself and a friend. We arrived and they told me they had time for me but not my friend and that she would have to wait 20 minutes. While sitting there waiting, Helen took 3 different "walk-ins" for pedicures while my friend who had an appointment just sat there waiting. My friend ended up leaving without getting a mani/pedi because I was already done. I felt horrible! When I said something to Helen she just blew it off like it was nothing. Also because they were so busy and had people waiting in the pedi chairs my mani/pedi were rushed and looked as if a 2 year old painted my nails. Again, Helen just blew it off. I reluctantly paid but did not tip anyone. Then on this past Sunday myself and my mom went in for a mani/pedi. They were able to get us in right away since it was empty, and I must say there is a new girl that did a great job on my pedi. On the other hand, the male who did my manicure didn't even do a manicure. He soaked my hands in plain water, and if anyone who has been going there knows they usually soak in lemon water and use the fresh lemon at the end. Back onto my story... I asked about the price of gel coat on my nails and after that was mentioned he started spraying alcohol on my hands to prep them for gel. He did the gel and argued about everything I asked him to do. I ended up having to ask for lotion because he didn't do any part of the manicure once he knew I wanted gel coat. Helen was busy doing waxing so I was not able to express my dissatisfaction, so I just left. The next morning I noticed that ALL of my gel coat was peeling up. Since they are closed on Monday's I had to wait until Tuesday morning to call. When I called of course Helen answered the phone. When I told her that I was not happy that I paid for a manicure and did not feel that I got one, and that my gel was peeling... she told me to come in for them to look at them. So last night I went back in, Helen proceeded to tell me it was peeling because of the oil they use on my hands. I told her that he didn't even do a manicure but of course once again she blew it off and kept repeating herself. Finally the man had me sit down to redo my gel. He then started in on how it was the oil he used and when I told him he didn't use any oil he started to argue with me. I told Helen I wanted them to take the gel off and refund me so that I never had to deal with them again. She just responded "oh, you are the customer and you are right. He will fix for you." He ended up being rude the entire time and when he was done, he stated "okay then goodbye" and got up and left! After both of these situations I will NEVER spend my money there and will make sure everyone I know doesn't give them the business either. Please listen to me when I say you are better off going somewhere else!!! read more

I think my lady had ADD. In the middle of my pedicure, she started cleaning the foot spa, so I had to sit in the chair while she sprayed the chemicals. She asked me if she could scrub my calluses. I didn't think anything of it so I just said "sure". I later found out it was $5 extra. Then she asked me to move to the regular table even though I thought I was paying for the spa chair. As I moved from the chair to the table, she started washing towels in the back room. Again... doing other things and making me wait! She came back and started the manicure. During the manicure, another lady walked in with a "special mop" that looks like something u buy from an infomercial. She was so amazed by this mop that she stopped my manicure to watch the demo! My pedi took 2.5hrs all because she just couldn't focus on her job. When it came time to pay, she asked how much tip I wanted to include. I told her to tack on $5. Then she continued to explain that she had children, today was a slow day. She asked for a dollar more and I foolishly agreed. When I got the receipt, she tacked on another $2.50 on top of everything and said it was for credit card fees. My fault for being the idiot who fell for all of it. Bottom line, there are so many mani/pedi options out there... STAY AWAY FROM HERE! read more

I went here for years, the person who did my nails for years left. When she left... I left. She was the only person in that place that could put on a good set of nails. The owner (Helen) does a horrible job, makes the nails thick and very fake looking. She did my nails once when my nail girl called in sick, Really BAD job! So fake and thick looking! Once when I was there, she treated a customer so horribly, just because the customer wasn't happy with the results... her nails were horribly thick and too short. Helen kept filing them shorter and shorter, and wouldn't listen to the customer. She told her to stop filing they were too short, she just ignored her. The customer pulled away her hands and asked her to remove the nails, Helen argued that she "would not remove them!! there is nothing wrong with them!!". She was incredibly rude to the customer, the customer was being calm and not out of control. While Helen flew off the handle at her, finally the customer got angry just walked out. Don't blame her Helen was out of line! One time when I had a pedi done, one of the ladies doing my pedi scrubbed my foot until it was bleeding and raw. I told her you are hurting me, and she just kept going. I had a very hard time walking for 2 weeks after that. don't waste your time here.... Not worth the bad job, rude treatment and bloody feet. read more

I've been going here since I moved to Redondo Beach in 2004. I've seen the owners change twice. I absolutely loved Helen and all the girls who worked for her. Now Kelly is the new owner and while she had the place remodeled,it's not the same anymore and I will be going somewhere else to get my nails done I went there recently and had the worst French manicure done My cuticles were cut and I had 4 of my fingers sore afterwards because they were cut too close. I also got gel for first time and believe I was overcharged since I only got a gel manicure and a regular spa pedicure. There are no pricing charts in the place anymore which makes me wonder if they're charging different prices to the clients. I just don't feel it's that friendly anymore and I know this goes against all the positive reviews. It's just not for me anymore. read more

I used to frequent here due to how close it was to my house. It's hit or miss, usually miss. I make it a point to come in during the morning hours on weekdays to avoid a long wait. More then likely it's a miss and they are so rude. Sometimes they don't even acknowledge you, if they do and you tell them what you want it will still be 10 mins before they even ask you to pick out a color or sit down and wait. 0 customer service. Not to mention most places where I get gel manicures they can last up to two weeks flawlessly. I can only get a week out of my gel polish from here, disappointment and will not return. read more

I don't live around the area, so I don't know what nail salons are good around here. I drove past this nail salon and saw it was pretty empty. I didn't have an appointment so I figured they would take me in. I thought wrong. As soon as I walk in, the lady at the front desk asks me what I want. I say acrylics. Then she says, "can you come later". I had things to do later so I said no and walked out. She said she was too busy. Well it didn't look busy to me. 2 other employees, plus herself were not doing anything. I know I didn't have an appointment but it would have been nice if she could at least told me, they're a little busy now if I wanted to wait or something like that. Great place...the first time I went there, I forgot my wallet and didn't realize it until my nails were done. The owner didn't even blink an eye and said when I can, just come back to pay. Although they are polite, and squeeze you in when they can, (they accepted me as a walk in for full set pink & white, white tips), however, despite my request, she did what she wanted to anyway, and didn't do white tips. Instead, she put a glob of white for the tip, and then used a metal too to ATTEMPT to cleanly create the "smile," and scrape the remainder off. She failed EACH AND EVERY TIME!! It kept getting stuck, and she had to do SEVERAL attempts PER EACH NAIL!! They started lifting the third day, and my nail bed hurt SO bad, I had to remove them by the fourth day. (They were lifting and the tugging on my nail bad was unbearable). NEVER have I had such a painful unsuccessful experience at removing acrylic nails!! She kept pinching the sides of my nails when applying the acrylics, making them impossible to remove. And overcharged me $50.00 PLUS TIP!! RIDICULOUS!! The entire time, she was distracted, resulting in uneven nail lengths, as one reviewer experienced as well. She kept answering the phone, booking appointments, looking up at who was walking by, not noticing when I would wince in pain, though I doubt it'd make a difference. TRULY DISAPPOINTED. Will NOT be returning!! read more
