Spoke with Kim Waters on 3/25/15 in developing an estimate for a 6/15 move from AZ to HI. All belongings were fully packed by 5/31 allowing for a final and accurate estimate prior to the movers scheduled visit on 6/1 in the morning. On revised estimates rate per cf changed and increases unexpectedly to $8.95/per cf from $8.20 estimate on 6/1 creating a difference of $155.25. I advised Kim of this mistake and it was pushed off with, oh it was a mistake system error there is nothing I can do. This was the beginning of many future discrepancies and calculations in the financial favor of the moving company. 5/31 at 9:25AM I receive a voice mail to call Dispatch. Called back and spoke to Roger that advised there was no way they would be showing up on Monday as agreed weeks prior. Was not given a reason why at the time. Delivery was set up for Tuesday morning which was ok since I was off that day. Although, I advised I would now have to incur rental fees from my landlord and contact all my utilities (Electric, Gas, Phone/Internet) that were shutting off Monday June 1st. Huge inconvenience and financial loss! I contacted Kim to ask her what was going on with my June 1st move. She said she knew nothing about delay. I get an email (no call) from Kim at 2:01PM saying: "The dispatcher is telling me there's no way he can make the original date of pick up, but my supervisor wants you to provide a list of the charges you're going to incur for the change of date." On 5/31 at 4:46PM I email a list of costs I will incur on a daily basis each day I'm there beyond June 1st. $40/day (guessed) although my landlord texted me later for $50/day plus $5/day electric. I also convey Tuesday is the last day it will work and pray it happens and asked for a guarantee from them. At that time I also ask why things fell through as I'm still left in the dark. 6/1 at 8:43AM Kim emails me a long email saying the truck has emergency repairs. And more realistic time to expect them was 12 - 2p on 6/2 but they may arrive earlier. She said: "I can, however, confirm that they will be ready and present on Tuesday. Thank you for providing a list of your expenses. I will forward them to my supervisor." Email sent 6/1 at 12:07p I send her a revised final detailed accurate list of new costs I have to cover due to this delay. Includes the following: Rental $50/day, Electric $5/day, Phone/internet $3/day, Food $25/day. Also sent her the text screen capture proof from my landlord asking for $50/day. I'm contacted again by the Dispatcher in the afternoon saying Tuesday is not going to happen either. At this time I share this delay will cost me more than the daily expenses shared prior as Wednesday was my busiest day of meetings and business that I could not and would not be able to cancel. I conveyed it had to be 6am or 7am pickup and I must leave by 9:30a and no later. Roger the Dispatch Manager guaranteed a 7am pick up or he would take $500.00 off my estimate. In addition the expenses that a new person, Rob (another manager) approved, I was advised by Kim to contact him to follow up on those expenses. After three calls throughout the day and no Rob to speak with I gave up and hoped for the best. I was now transferred to a new sales rep or Manager Barbara, to handle my account since Kim kept changing values in the estimates causing costs to continue to go up and discrepancies in the favor of United. 6/2/15 at 5:56PM I'm advised by Dispatch Manager that Wednesday is not going happen at 7AM and expect some time in the afternoon, maybe 3 or 4PM. As you can imagine I regurgitated the above dialogue about the time it must be and the guarantee that was given. Roger ignored that and laughed about it continually saying they will be there in that afternoon, I guarantee it bla bla bla. After some time on the phone and the same no big deal attitude about the third delay I lose it and say I'm done! I cant possibly trust any of your words or guarantees. I contact one other mover I had considered some time back (sadly they are not much better in the integrity and honesty department). One hour later my phone is ringing non stop from United--I do not take the calls. 6/2/15 at 7:52PM I get a text (first ever) from Roger/Dispatch Manager (818-462-3177) saying he spoke with his manager (hmmm who is that??) and they'll pick up at 1PM and extend discount of $110.00 on my move. The other mover (fyi: is a sub-contractor for United and 100% independent) agreed to pick up next day at 10am. They showed up at 9:45AM and handled everything. That was the best part of their service to date. (but of course it was, they were not United Moving employees). The new mover cost me hundreds of dollars more then United bid and mystery credits for inconvenience. The delay and change of servicer cost me over $600.00 + anxiety and stress that is beyond these words. I still yet to get back my $200 deposit which they are denying my refund claim with my credit card company. ZERO STARS. read more

The two guys that showed up to pick our stuff up did not "quite" strong arm us, but they figured out we were on a schedule that was kind of hard to break at that point?? It has now been 32 days since our pick up. We have been given three different time frames. The "dispatcher" seems to always be on lunch and is the only one who "knows" delivery status etc. We have been "promised" multiple times to have information emailed or called back to us and not one of those promises has been kept. We can not even get them to give us the amount we will have to have on hand (no checks and Credit cards add 3%) when if our stuff finally gets here (hopefully). We are at the point of considering having another mover go to their facility (if we can find it) and get our stuff. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. WHATEVER YOU DO, AVOID IT. My family does not want you to go through what ours did. Please, if you value your belongings, and want them to survive the trip, DO NOT use United. Several items were irreparably destroyed, 90% of our items suffered some damage or loss, and the company told us they do not care and will not help. They will bribe you for a good review after taking your money and destroying your things. Full story of the delivery: It took well over a month and a half for our items to be delivered. Several weeks before our things were finally delivered, we were promised our things would be delivered "somewhere between Monday and Wednesday" or some estimate similar, only to rearrange our lives around that estimate and have no-one show up or call, and then be told the same thing once again for the following week, rinse repeat... When our items did finally arrive, they had one driver to unload everything. The driver was nice enough and it was not his fault, but they should not have a single man transporting a 2 bedroom home's worth of items and furniture. Not only is it very dangerous for him, but some of our items should not have been handled by one person and were damaged in the process. Most of our items sustained some damage. A full size box spring was visibly dragged on a rough, muddy surface and the corners were torn and filthy. All the boxes and plastic bins were damaged; some with crushed corners, others completely crushed and re-taped up by the moving company in an effort to contain everything (a lot of items were missing, likely fallen out of boxes.) Items were literally falling out as the driver transported them from his truck to our new apt. We packed with brand new supplies from U-Haul and an overabundance of caution and when our things arrived you would have thought we packed with items pulled from a dumpster. Some items were irreparably destroyed. A painting my mother has had for 40 years was destroyed - the frame was bent, the glass completely shattered, and the painting itself was cut by the broken glass. This painting was bubble wrapped, cushioned with air bags and foam sheeting... we did everything we could to prevent it being broken. She was and is devastated. When we contacted the insurance line for this company, they told us they do not care about the value of any items broken or destroyed and will only pay 60 cents per 1lb of weight. This is despite the driver corroborating our precautions with the painting. When told we would accept the estimated amount of money from their insurance, they have dodged all calls, and have not contacted us or responded to our attempts at contact in over a month. I agreed to write a positive review for the two gentlemen who packed and loaded my items today, 11/8/14. Peter and Johnny were efficient and accommodating in contrast to the deplorable treatment I have received from Roger the owner these past few weeks. My original contract stated my load/pick up day would be Tuesday, 11/11. Roger called me last weekend to inform me that the date needed to be changed to 11/7. He said all the trucks were being inspected that day and I had no choice. I was forced to make major changes to my schedule to meet this demand and was up late the night before as I was told the drivers would arrive by noon. I was ready. By 10 am that morning no one had phoned me to confirm, so I called the folks at United and Barbara said, "You mean no one called you? The driver will be there tomorrow or the next day, sorry." I said, "Hell no! you can't do this to me!" So Roger gets on the line and I kindly let him know (for at least the 10th time) that I cannot understand his English with his thick Russian accent. Could he please tell one of his employees to tell me what he wanted to say. So over the course of the day, as my anger deepened, I spoke with Kim and Monica and Barbara and finally received a promise that a truck would arrive before dark on 11/7. But the promise was another of many lies. By this time, I was in possession of the driver's phone number and left a very explicit message that because of the unacceptable treatment I had received thus far, we were now doing things on MY terms. I told them to arrive at 2pm on 11/8. Not earlier, not later, because I had an appointment. I told them that I was constructing a detailed chronology of events of my interactions and transactions with his horribly unprofessional company. That I would be contacting an attorney and plastering my sentiments regarding his unethical practices all over social media. Enter Peter and Johnny. They saved the day. They listened to my story and had compassion on me. They intervened on my behalf and somehow got Roger to agree to let me bring a few additional furniture items at no extra charge. Peter and Johnny wrapped and packed my goods with professionalism and promised to deliver my load exactly one week from today, 11/15. If they are driving, I have some confidence that that promise will be met. If not, it's anybody's guess. Stay tuned. But Peter and Johnny, THANK YOU. You guys did a great job today!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. They are not serious and will scam you for more money. Here are the problems I had: 1- At Pickup: our move was from CA to TX. The window for pickup was 7/28-7/30. Promised 7/30 by 3pm. They came 7/31 after several phone calls bc they were too busy with a larger job. This caused our travel plans to change and thus a loss of money for us. 2- Pickup Movers: will And Boris we're good movers except they tried to scam us for more money that agreed on bc our 1 flight of stairs had a pivot landing and so they wanted to charge for 2 flights. 3- Communication: No communication at all so we called. Initially promised 8/14. Then the truck broke down at their home base. Everyday we called them and everyday we got the run around and excuses from Ana about how she was so busy with other customers, as if we weren't also a customer. She also let slip that they had had a problem in one of the warehouses where several peoples belongings were damaged. 4- Drop Off: Delivery was finally 8/30, a month later. The driver/mover they sent (Charles) was incompetent to say the least. He got our move wrong twice and gave me the names and even bills of 2 other people whose things were in the same truck (shout out to Krishna Kumar in San Antonio and Mr. Wang from outside of Houston). He also came alone when it was not a one person job. Him and the company also tried to scam us into more money for a shuttle truck for $286 when our street is huge and has surrounding streets with 4 lanes! The issue they claimed was that the sign said "no thru trucks" in black which means no short cuts but ok for local deliveries. Only when I refused to pay and mentioned that I also knew that the other people, whose bills I saw, paid for shuttle because they were in apartments, did they drop the charge. All boxes in the truck were marked TX so it was obvious that the shuttle truck was not specifically for me. Just they wanted to scam for it if they saw any excuse. 5- Other Unkept Promises: because of the hassle they said they would compensate us at least $200. This was a lie. When it came time to talk final bill they make up BS about how you could only make one claim and had to pay at delivery and then file a claim in case your things were damaged. Total bull. When I called Ana, again got the runaround: oh you can apply for a claim but we have had other issues so will take awhile because other people lost their things in our warehouse. Mmm hmm. Used this company to move from CA to IL. Knew it would take about a month and this was confirmed by them. No problem wasn't in a hurry and I was told twice that I would be contacted when items were in transit so I knew what day to expect delivery. Sales lady was awesome, pick up guys at storage unit were awesome. So far, so good. Then things all went sideways. After about three weeks I realized I had not received a contact so I contacted them to make sure my stuff was on radar. Not only was it not on radar, nobody could tell me where it was. Then about 10 days worth of ducking and dodging began. Every single day I was promised a call back, never happened. At one point I was told my items had been in transit for 10 days. Or was it 6 days. No, it was actually 7 days but the truck has gotten "stuck at the border of IL" ....for five days....???!!! Riiiiight! Five more days pass, no truck. Finally I threaten legal action and lo and behold, stuff is being delivered the next day. Now keep in mind, my items are on the border of MO and IL so that should have been like, maybe an hour to deliver to my house the next day. I get a call Wednesday night at 9:30, the driver is in Colorado and is expected to be at my house sometime the next day roughly by noon. He shows at 8:00pm. Solo. After driving straight from CA to IL without stopping. When he opens the truck, it looks like a mob of angry gorillas loaded it. I was sick! Several furniture pieces ended up with huge gouges, my cast iron shelving unit had welds broken in three places and my boxes looked like they had been stomped on. Because it was dusk going into dark, I didn't notice the worst part! The next morning I go out to the garage and inspect the boxes and I see they are a) wet b) stink like the bottom of a dumpster and c) when I opened two of them there were BUGS!!! Dead mercifully but wth? I have read reviews on several sites about this company and interestingly enough there seem to be only two kinds of customers. Five Stars or One Star. I needed to move from Van Nuys to Sherman Oaks and decided to hire a moving company that was recommended to me by a friend. I wanted to use a moving company to transport my stuff this time since, let's be honest, who's got time to move their own things by themselves nowadays?! I called several different companies to get quotes and United quoted me the best price and estimation for the arrival of my belongings. Roger was the person I dealt with from the beginning to end. He walked me through the entire process from what to expect from the company to the estimated date of arrival and completion of my move. I told him I needed to move a one bedroom apt with some heavy furniture, he assured me that they would handle everything with care and not to worry about anything. Coming into this blind, I had no idea what to ask or expect, but they went above and beyond with providing the information I needed to know. His price was about $1553 total and 1.5 days to complete the move. I was very pleased with their service and organization. On the actual day of the move, they called me ahead of time to make sure everything was still scheduled as planned and that they were on their way. Once they arrived, they started wrapping my furniture and other belongings and handled everything with care. I was very impressed with how fast they packed and loaded my belongings in their truck! If you guys get a chance, make sure to request Alex and Hector if they're available!! They're both super nice and friendly. Once we got to my new place, they unloaded everything just as quick and handled it with care. They assembled what they took apart and arranged the heavy furniture in my apartment since I couldn't really move it myself. They were pretty quick and organized about how they moved everything. I was extremely happy with their service and the guys were very professional about the entire process. As a military veteran I have used several moving companies in my my career and this moving company was by far the worst moving company I have ever used. My move from San Diego, CA to Mississippi was an absolute nightmare! The pick up was late, the delivery was late, the driver was extremely rude (he constantly used foul language, was argumentative and very unprofessional). My household items sustained close to $1000 worth of damages and a few boxes were either lost or stolen (these boxes were never found). I filed a claim and their claims department said I was entitled to a fraction of what was damaged and lost. I was upset but I did not dispute it. I figured whatever amount I could get would help fix some of my damaged items. When I submitted the claims letter to United Transportation Moving And Storage there office basically told me that they would not pay and refused to give me a reason why. There office manager proceeded to yell at me over the phone and told me to stop calling him (it was the first time I had spoken to him but he had me mistaken for another customer that had filed a claim and was also complaining about this moving companies poor service!!). I even mentioned that I was a veteran and that I had never had this issue before with any other moving company, but he basically told me that he didn't care and that my claim would not be processed or paid out!! Long story short, I never received the claim award I was entitled to, I had to fix and pay for the damaged items out of my own pocket and my lost boxes were never found. I highly recommend whether you are a Veteran, Active Duty or civilian, please do not use this company! I'll second the suggestion to check them out on the BBB website, where they're registered under a pseudonym, All Ways Transportation in Woodland Hills, CA. (You can tell it's the same business by the phone number.) United Transport did not honor their estimate or delivery date. They charged nearly 50% more than estimated and delivered more than a week late. The final quote for my inventory was $1436. On the day of the move, after the movers had already put my things in their van, the foreman told me they were actually going to charge $2020. This was for the exact same inventory that I had described on the phone. The only conclusion I could draw was that they had deliberately low-balled the quote, knowing that once they had picked up my things, I wouldn't have any leverage. I gave a first possible delivery date of June 26, and they said that they would deliver within seven days. Shortly before this date, I began calling to request a delivery on July 2. But they were no longer interested in providing customer service. I had to call 16 times over two weeks to try to get someone to schedule a delivery. I spoke to several people, none of whom could help me or even tell me what was going on. Finally, on July 8, I reached the dispatcher, who "scheduled" a delivery for sometime between July 9 and 11. In the event, it came on July 10, which was 14 days after the first available delivery date, and eight days after my requested date. I won't mention the things that were lost in transit and damaged, as these are common failings of movers. The real problems were the dishonest estimate, the late delivery of the items, and the complete unconcern for customer service -- once they had my things in their truck. read more
