We recently purchased an outdoor island grill and every accessory item that went with it (fridge, ice maker, sink, etc...). Originally, our plan was to stop by UAKC just to look at options, not buy. We just remodeled our entire kitchen and bought new appliances from Universal Appliance. I went to several appliance stores from Anaheim to the Westside to look at the different brands and styles. We ultimately purchased from Universal Appliances in Torrance. James Rosas was our sales representative and he has been absolutely fantastic to work with. We ended up selecting the Sub Zero refrigerator, the Wolf range, Cove dishwasher and we could not be happier. We had some minor installation issues but James helped us out immediately. Most sales reps will not help you after the sale has been made, but it's been the opposite with James. He followed through on his commitments and has always advocated for us when we needed a new parts from Subzero. He even sent an email to Subzero on our behalf. He also reminded us of the Subzero rebate which we did not expect. He was not pushy but always answered our questions honestly and thoroughly. Look at the owner's response. Sales rep is no longer here: yes, we know that because the manager who took over never submitted our order as promised and said he didn't know what happened. Universal is telling us that we cannot even trust what their own employees say: that is called fraudulent misrepresentation in legal parlance. So like I said, if you want to deal with this kind of nonsense and a team that tells you whatever you want to hear and takes your deposit and tells you, "oh you should read the fine print" instead of standing by what they tell you, go do business with them. For the credit issued, that is after weeks of back and forth and email documentation of what was owed to us and was a totally different order from the plumbing order. Igor only gave us credit because this would have gone to small claims court. Igor "offered" to then cancel our order and then delay us by even further. I obviously asked for compensation on our plumbing order, which was delayed and they said "no". Like I said, I wish I went to Ferguson instead because while they charge more, they have integrity and real customer service that does what they say. If you want untrustworthy reps and you need to watch your back constantly because you cannot trust what you are being told, then by all means, go with Igor and Universal. I mean, this guy is blaming us for giving his company a deposit and ordering plumbing early because of long lead times around supply chain issues and then now is saying we should have known we hadn't paid in full so we should know that the order, which their employees told us had been submitted, was not. read more

We purchased our Sub Zero refrigerator, Wolfe Range and Bosch dishwasher from Universal. We used their recommended installers. A few days after installation our Bosch dishwasher and Sub Zero refrigerator were not working properly. We reached out to universal for assistance (since they sold us the appliances) and they told us to contact the manufacturers for help. The appliances were installed on December 9, It is now February 18 and we are still waiting on a part to make the repair to our dishwasher. We asked for a replacement and were informed that warranties are only for repairs and replacements do not take place. It is unfortunate that Repairs were already necessary a few days after the installation. If we wanted appliances that needed repairs so soon we would have purchased refurbished items. Be mindful that customer support and accountability from a distributor are not a given and ask the questions regarding service, support before you make a purchase. read more

This place is amazing! Wow! A designers paradise. They certainly blow all other South Bay appliance centers out of the water. We were looking to replace wall oven, Went into store , very comfortable show room no pressure from anyone when we had a question , Deandre Davis came over and answered everything we could possibly ask, We will Not be able to replace Gas wall oven, we looked at Electric ovens. Deandre showed us different models, Brands when we finally chose a few to review , Deandre printed , 8 different models, and also checked warehouse to see what was available now. We took a week to think about it and on a Friday afternoon bought 2 Wolfs and they delivered it one week later!! Our experience working with Universal in Torrance was pretty bad. At the recommendation of our designer, we ordered fixtures for a kitchen and three bathrooms. It wasn't a small amount of money. Immediately, there was a delay in receiving our order. We didn't receive communication about delays. Then they tried to deliver on a Saturday to a vacant home (no advance notice of delivery). They then tried to charge us $$$ for not being home for the delivery. We find out our salesperson has left the company - no contact by his replacement. We finally received our order when our contactor drove to multiple Universal locations to pick up parts of the order. Now, everything is installed but our very pricey Newport Brass shower system is leaking. We've had multiple attempts to repair - but to no avail. I heard this particular shower system has been discontinued - likely because it's defective. I suggest you spend your money elsewhere. read more

We purchased several plumbing fixtures from UAKC over 11 months back. Unfortunately an installation bracket related to a fixture broke. I called UAKC and spoke to Robert V. He was very polite and quickly understood the issue. He said he will take care of the problem and let me know. Within a couple days he informed me that he has ordered the part and it will be shipped to me. He gave me an ETA and the correct replacement part arrived within a day of ETA. At some point they were bought by Best Buy and little by little the service has gotten less personal and not as prompt or as friendly as it used to be. Not a problem! There's a new name in town and it is UNIVERSAL APPLIANCE on Hawthorne Ave. just north of Lomita. My contractor suggested I touch base with Carlos at Universal and I couldn't be more pleased with the service Carlos provided - including his quick responses to text messages! - and also that of Michelle who handled the paper work. Their prices were actually a bit less than those at Pacific Sales and substantially less than prices I saw for my long list of items when checking online at appliance/plumbing stores in Orange County. I went to their grand opening. I was excited that there would be another alternative from WDC and Pacific Sales. The store is mice, but really doesn't cater to all clientele. Their products are on the higher end (at least in the bathroom section) so if you are looking for products within your budget this place may not be for you...it wasn't for me. sales staff is excellent. Delivery is unacceptable. 5 of 6 times the driver did not show up even close to the 4 hour window. At one time my client was told that delivery was between noon and 4pm. When he was driving to his house at 9am he saw the universal truck coming down the hill. He stopped the driver to ask if this was for his address. The driver confirmed, but refused to go back and told him to reschedule. There is only one driver that stands out: Roberto Ruiz; he is excellent. Every other encounter was terrible. Picking up is just as bad: In Hollywood I had to wait 1-1/2 hours, before they finally got my dishwasher down from the shelf, and they were very rude on top of that. Really reflects on the owner! Santa Clarita is hit and miss: first time there the 2 guys was extremely rude; second time was ok; third time I better not come around 2pm, when the guy eats lunch, and the other guy, walking in does not even ask what he can help me with but is just as rude as the bunch in Hollywood. I refuse to put up with this. If it was not for my sales rep in Torrance, I would NEVER deal with Universal again. Also: when I buy in Torrance, I expect to pick up in Torrance. What is the owner thinking?!? At Pacific Sales I can do it. Obviously, owner not only condones rudeness, but puts profit over treating clients with respect. Not a good business model..... read more
