A no frills restaurant hidden in The Joint, a fish store. You will be dining next to dead fish so definitely not for the faint of heart. But the quality and price of the fish in the hand rolls was great and I would recommend for a low key date night. 6 hand rolls was $32 and definitely was filling. We also got a yuzu beer which complimented the hand rolls. The ice cream was good but I think a regular yuzu cheesecake would be better. The service was good, there was only one other couple in the restaurant. Hoping one day this place has more support!!

Walking through the space and being seated in the back was lovely and the ambience only grew as the night wore on.

No. This isn't that kind of place, and Taisho doesn't have that kind of menu. However, is this a good place to listen to decent music, sip a fun cocktail, and pass around some aesthetic Asian fusion dishes? Absolutely. It's a vibe on the weekends, there's semi-patio seating in the back, and there's valet parking right out front on Ventura Blvd. Taisho is a good option for dinner before a night out, or to catch up with a friend. Seating options are plentiful, too. The bar area is nice, the seats are comfy. The interior can fill up during peak hours. The outside seating in the front is a hard pass for me because it's so close to the street and seems isolated from the rest, but some people do prefer to sit out there. Street parking is available albeit competitive. Don't forget to pay the meter and check posted signs.

This might be my second favorite sushi restaurant in the valley. The restaurant is located in a strip plaza, so there's plenty of parking, though it can feel a bit narrow, so be cautious. Upon arrival, you're greeted by a hostess at the front counter who seats you or directs you to the bar area. I usually sit at the bar and grab a seat by Chef Tom. The restaurant has plenty of seating, but I've seen people waiting outside to be seated, so it does get busy. Every time I've been here, the place is nice and clean, and they have a TV with games on at the bar, creating a pretty chill vibe. I typically order a variety of sushi. When I first came, I ordered my usual rainbow roll, blue crab roll and garlic shrimp roll, but then I started letting Chef Tom surprise me with a variety of nigiri, and he hasn't disappointed. The sushi is always fresh and delicious and on weekends, they have halibut, so if you like that, it's only available then. Overall, you can't go wrong with So Sushi, and I highly recommend it for fresh and tasty sushi. OOOOO 5 out of 5 Afros

Nothing stood out, nothing felt fresh or memorable, and it just didn't live up to the expectations or the name. For the price it really is not worth it. You leave wondering why you even waited or spent the money. Honestly it's the kind of place you try once and don't feel any need to go back to.
